Tomorrow is the big finale of the Triplemania Trilogy and here is the lineup:

AAA Mega Championship

Hijo del Vikingo vs Rey Fenix

While this wasn't the match AAA wanted, believe it or not (hi Kenny!), this match should be an absolute banger. Vikingo has been one of the best in Mexico and Fenix is Fenix, so it would take an act of God for this to not be awesome.

Mask Tournament Final

Pentagon Jr vs Villano IV

Villano IV has been punching above his weight this whole tournament, no one expected much from him but he's been able to turn back the clock and have fun brawls. That's right in Penta's wheelhouse so this should be a fun crazy brawl even though the outcome is not really in question here.

Hair vs Hair

Cibernetico vs Pagano

This is going to be the "Mexican ECW match" portion of the show. Pagano's matches on big AAA shows are always plunder filled spectacles, and if that's your jam this should be up your alley.

AAA Reina de Reinas Championship

Taya vs Kamille

This should be technically good, but there's a high chance the crowd will shit on it because they wanted Flammer to get the shot after she won a mask match a while back. She probably will end up getting her shot, but in the meantime we get a follow up on a match that took place in the NWA (which no one in Mexico watches).

AAA Trios Championship

Nuevo Generation Dinamita (Sanson, Forastero, Cuatero) vs Bandido/Laredo Kid/Psycho Clown vs Brian Cage/Johnny Caballero/Sam Adonis

This should be a good match, but it's basically NGD vs people they wanted to get on the card but didn't book a match for.  Except for Cage, since he usually plays one of the characters in the Marvel themed matches.

Winner gets an AAA Tag Title match

Latigo/Toxin vs Kommander/Myzteziz vs Arez/Willie Mack vs Dragon Lee/Dralistico

Funny how in AEW the people complain FTR never gets a shot at the tag titles, while in AAA FTR are the champs and haven't been around much to give anyone else a shot. This most likely will either be a highlight match or a trainwreck depending on how everyone ends up working together. Dragon Lee/Dralistico are the only regular tag team in the match and it would be quite the upset if anyone else won.

You won't see something more iconic this year than the Pentagon Jr. vs Villano IV post-match. Match itself was as good as you'll get from 57 years old Villano IV in what is supposed to be an epic match. And really, apart from a few spots where he badly showed his age (damn, Penta threw himself into that table, hilarious shit), it was an epic, classic mask vs mask match. That springboard footstomp on that pink old fuck looked like it killed him. Awesome stuff you'll only see in lucha libre.

And really, the Lucha Brothers owned the night, with Fénix having one hell of a match against Vikingo, with a few out of this world spots. I do think Fénix is the one who hold it together though, playing subtle rudo at points. With these two matches back to back, it's probably the best Triplemania I've ever seen.

And yeah, Pagano vs Cibernetico sucked, but what did you expect. Pagano did his very best, and the ending was actually super smart in its insanity, teasing a table spot from the top of a ladder, only to drop the other way through the stage. Awesome visual.

Taya vs Kamille was quite good, with Taya sporting an awesome La Parka tribute outfit, really nice of her. Kamille displayed some nice heeling tendencies too.

The other two matches were very fun. Johnny Caballero's entrance was ridiculous, that guy stole the show in his match by being a complete doofus and asshole at the end. Willie Mack dancing in front of the Mexican audience is never getting old. Psycho Clown got his old theme back, thankfully.

Super fun show, as Triplemania always is, but this one really had a lot of good stuff and just a terrific 1-2 punch finale.

Everything at worst met expectations and most matches exceeded them, not the least of which was Vikingo/Fenix. Everyone assumed it would be nuts and somehow it was WAY MORE than anyone could have hoped for. Vikingo is on the 89 Muta/95 Mysterio "doing shit no one has ever seen or done before" level and Fenix is probably the only person on Earth who could hang with him.

The match I was worried about was  Taya/Kamille because it's not who the fans wanted, but Taya is beloved and got the match over out of sheer will.

Announcing that the champs had be pinned in order for a title change in the trios match made no sense and smacked of someone pulling a last minute "that doesn't work for me brother", but we got to see Brian Cage yeet Bandido into the Phantom Zone so it was all worth it.

Penta is a made man now for winning a legendary mask, and Villano decided to go out on his shield in what was probably his last ever match in a major promotion (there's always money in working some indies after a mask loss) and decided to just give every ounce he had left. Post-match was a great emotional unmasking moment that had the whole building in tears and was 100% the shit that makes Lucha awesome.
