  1. A dvd set full of matches which haven't already been released on other WWE dvds? Who are you, what have you done with Vince, and can you leave him there?
  2. That sort of thing is fine for an abstract discussion, but near impossible to prove in court. No judge is going to take seriously a plaintiff who says "well, ALL wrestlers are crazy by default, and Vince knew that and preyed upon it, so he should be punished even though he's crazy too". Dude, seriously, slow down. The WWE is a scummy company, but it's pretty much the same kind of stuff that goes on in all kinds of other performance-based media careers, from rock stars to supermodels. All kinds of employers unofficially influence their workers to do stuff which is harmful to them in the long term. Don't act like Vince is sitting in his secret fortress inside a volcano and petting a white cat while cackling about how the world soon will be his, all his, mwa ha haaa. He's just a guy who enjoys money and power, and doesn't mind exploiting other people in order to get it. I don't get the WON, what's the story with Kronus you're referencing?
  3. Bert's always done stuff like that on his television shows. He'd use lots of Memphis footage and various other stuff he didn't have the rights to. He gets away with it because it's indy wrestling and nobody cares.
  4. You certainly would've needed to have been shooting up some hardcore shit to have possibly enjoyed the buildup to his match with Hunter. "Oh noes, I axidentally runs over his dog!"
  5. 1. Where'd the idea of no-selling low blows come from? 2. Any veterans ever get mad at him for doing it?
  6. I considered Ted a friend at one point, and no I'm not surprised.

    MOVES!

It seems like sooner or later, that happens to practically every finisher out there. Check out the Austin-Hall match from Wrestlemania 18, where no less than six Stunners were used. Of course, it's not hard to recover from anyone kicking out of a finisher... once, for a big match or other special occasion. After that happens, the booker must have several people do the job to that finisher in the weeks following that occurance, to rebuild it. Anything on earth can be devalued or no-sold once for a big surprise pop and then got back over. The problem is when people keep kicking out of that finish, like the example with the Angleslam not being enough to put away midcarders, or when the Stinger Splash went from something that Sting hit once and pinned the guy to Sting hits three times just for the guy to counter the third one.
  8. If Vince hates HHH so much in storyline, why would he let him have the title shot in the first place? Especially since it's not like there were run-ins or other cheating, Orton just lost the first one and was booked to luck out and win the second one.
  9. On a somewhat related note, apparently Kurt Angle was arrested for DUI a week ago, but it's only now hitting the news. Nice going, TNA. Pacman wasn't enough bad publicity, you just had to stick your world belt on a guy with those dreaded "personal demons" and keep it there.
  10. One buddy of mine who's a former indy worker brought up an excellent point: why did Bret need to have physical possession of the belt at that point? Why didn't Vince just say "hey champ, leave the strap with me til tomorrow"? That easily would've solved the entire Throw It In The Trash On Nitro debate. I re-read Wade's post a couple more times, and IO still don't understand what he was trying to say. Only recent (but not TOO recent) fans would consider Jericho a star? Can anyone explain what he might've possibly meant with that?
  11. I have no idea what the hell he's trying to say there. People who've watched wrestling for eleven years or longer will automatically agree that Jericho isn't a star?
  12. It's pretty amusing on some boards to see the venom being spewed towards Kennedy over this, like he personally iron clawed Cena's chest until the pec was torn like warm pasta, laughing maniacally the whole time. "He didn't go up for the hiptoss!" Nevermind that a single slow-motion viewing destroys that whole theory, since he clearly planted his feet and jumped.
  13. Personally, I'd go with mending some bridges and making someone into a six-time, six-time, six-time world champ, sucka.
  14. Are there any wrestling shows of any note in South America? I don't recall every hearing of any. Well, at least Justin Credible might get a translator job out of it. Why group China in with the Americas instead of the rest of the Asian territories? Why do anything (besides the USO tours) in the Middle East at this time?
  15. After the recent controversies, I'm surprised that they're still trying to go through it. Maybe they're trying to put their eggs in separate international baskets in case their US business goes to shit, either through government action, public disgust, or whatever.
  16. This whole time it seems like Vince & co. have basically assumed that the government isn't really serious about this whole thing and it'll all just blow over. Whoops.
  17. Interesting how different message boards react to this story. Most people here seem to accept it, but at TSM it's being dismissed out of hand by pretty much everyone. Why doesn't Mushnick identify the hospital in question, the other reporter he mentioned, or the specific time frame in which the incident occured? I know he's gotta protect his source inside the WWE, but it seems odd that he doesn't provide those other details.
  18. Yes, exactly. It's still just good journalistic practice to make sure that what you're reporting is actually true. Sadly, that tends to be less and less common in this day & age (looking at you, Rather). And every time someone makes a dumb "demoted from horsemen to raw" faux paus, we all have to hear ad nauseum from the smarks about how that person knows nothing about wrestling and all of their points are thus invalid.

    Unforgiven

True, although the real contrariness wouldn't start until Triple "You're not a very good wrestler" H put the previous attempts at undermining to shame. The crowd response to Cena/Trips match at Mania was one of the more surreal things I've seen in wrestling.
  20. Impossible? Have you never heard of a psychiatric exam? None of them are 100% reliable, or hell even 75% reliable. There's not much scientific consensus on how to definitively identify problem cases before they act out. Psychiatrists around the world still violently debate over exactly what makes us act the way we do. Yeah, I know that and you know that, but not only the marks but the WWE as well will use any excuse possible to discredit negative press about the company. If no factual errors are made, it makes it that much harder for them to slip out of trouble.
  21. How the hell was what I said here trolling? I legitimately asked what you thought Dundee's good points were, since I've seen very little of his older work, and you just refuse and namecall? No, I just generally don't like matches where the action is 90% punching very much. Whether it's anyone from Hogan on down. There are of course exceptions, one that definitely comes to mind was an old Funk vs. Lawler match I watched the other day where they just beat the crap out of each other and still told a story. But in general I prefer to see at least a little variety with the offense.

What peak? The boos started back in '05, barely a year into his first world title reign.
  23. Well, what about Dundee was so great? Not dogging on Bill, as I've worked with him and called several of his matches, but I've not seen much of his stuff from his prime and most of it seemed like a lot of punching and not much else.
  24. My point was, wrestling fans have been doing exactly that for a while, so anyone who doesn't want to be dismissed by the fanbase as an outsider who knows nothing really, really needs to make sure that their reporting doesn't contain any factual inaccuracies. Wait, you're saying if Orton was suicidal, then he shouldn't be suspended for any reason? It's not the company's responsibility to police the mental health of their employees, since that's pretty impossible to do from an objective standpoint. It's not like there's a test where you have all the wrestlers pee in a cup and then you can tell which ones are crazy(/ier).
  25. It would help Mushnick a lot if he didn't make obvious mistakes like this, since Orton had already been doing that gimmick two years earlier.
