  1. He didn't sell for him at all. He left him laying. Gorilla chopped him three times and he mildly responded to it, but that was about it.
  2. I just watched the Vader/Gorilla Monsoon angle on You Tube. Wow. The crowd was *massively* into Vader, and this angle was pitch-perfect. It's a shame what became of Vader in the WWF, because this was about as close to perfect a start as possible.

Presuming that is the case, when they start messing with Undertaker, that is when I would presume WWE would fight back. That may be just an Internet rumor as I haven't seen it reported anywhere, but if it is not, that would make WWE more "PG" than they were even in the Hogan era.

As Dave said today, regardless of whether they have done other ones that are worse or not, this happened to be the one that the "very important person" saw that complained. Because of the number of people on the corporate side being involved in this, something tells me the complaint was made to someone on the corporate side, then was escalated to Vince to make a decision. That's why I think it was Mattel, although Dave said WWE has recently entered licensing agreements with other similar groups where they've pretty much promised to keep things as clean as possible.
  5. So Grizzly Smith passed away. That actually has the potential to be a pretty chilling WON bio, based on his work for Watts in the glory years but moreso for his relationships with his children involved in wrestling. I was never clear about Jake's mother. Jake was born out of rape, correct? Does that mean Grizzly Smith raped a girl that got pregnant, or was Jake adopted? Anyway, whatever the case, it's an interesting story.

    I don't think it's Linda's campaign. I think it's Mattel.

Then again, it wouldn't be a very good work, because he's getting released from a company he already doesn't work for. WWE is going to find themselves in a tough spot, considering they have this new company mantra to make television more believable and unpredictable, if when they try to up the aggression they get this kind of push back.

This has GOT to be a work, right? It's too stupid not to be. That really sounds like a headline from WCW during 1999, to be honest.
  9. If it was a typo, it was a typo in the WON.

WWE has also decided it's better for them to have a You Tube channel than publish videos on their website also. What's with the sudden rash of sanity? Where are the Tim White suicide angles and mockeries of Jim Ross's colon?

So this new company directive where they are more focused on realism and pushing smaller guys ... I'll just say great if it lasts, but I'm not expecting too much.

Possibly, I'm already tired of hearing the word "vegetative", but WWE has always has this weird thing with words.

I'm presuming they are also responsible for leaving Undertaker in a vegetative state.

  15. Has it ever come out how much TNA is paying Hogan? Do you think he's getting seven figures?
  16. He might have done somewhat better, but I tend to think his drug and alcohol problems would have made this a non-issue, especially in the current WWE environment. I also don't get where this idea of Scott Hall being really good ever came from. He was almost always pretty average. He was lucky enough to be carried to a great match by Shawn Michaels that made his career, and he was in wrestling getting opportunities for nearly 10 years before he finally found something that worked. And it did work, no doubt, but if you look at it, he had a two-year period where he was one of the three or four most over babyfaces on the roster. Nothing to be ashamed of, but nothing too remarkable. The Razor Ramon gimmick was a winner and he did become a star in the WWF, but I don't really look at his popularity in 1994-1995 and think missed opportunity.
  17. This Scott Keith quote from his blog is kind of a WTF:
  18. I've always wondered how Dave cultivates sources outside of wrestling, like people in the cable industry and in politics.

  23. I know, it's wrestling, and Price could be lying too, but I do believe him. This stuff will catch up to Ric eventually, and it would be really weird to see a wrestling business where Ric Flair is basically unemployable. It might be the only way to get him to really call it quits for good. But I have a feeling he'll find a way to bankrupt Wrestlers Rescue first.

  25. I've stopped doing them because it seemed like most people were just using them to collect matches, but weren't really commenting on the matches, which was the whole point.
