  1. Haas is someone who had potential that could have been realized in the next year if they paired him with guys like Angle or Benoit or Michaels or whatever other veterans that could halfway work to bring him over the hump. He had some terrific ideas for his character as well -- it's a shame at least one of them couldn't have happened. He will probably do very well in the indies, especially because he's going to tower over almost everyone in US indies at the moment. Working some Japanese tours will only help him improve. Hopefully, Benoit has given him some career advice.
  2. Very true. Regal is awesome when paired with the right guys and given even five minutes to show his stuff, but that doesn't happen very often, and his style is so dramatically different from the WWE style that there aren't many guys who make a good match for him. Benoit and Regal have had really good matches in the past, so chances of it happening again are strong.
  3. There's a really good bio linked above. He was one of the "Three Musketeers" (along with Muto and Chono) that received a massive push in New Japan in the 90s. My favorite match of his has to be his match against Liger in 02/94. It's probably better than any match I've seen as far as putting a heavyweight against a junior and Hash giving just the right amounts to Liger at just the right times. I also love his match against Takada in 04/96, which was one of the headlining matches of what was probably the biggest and most successful angle in the history of New Japan. He's already in the Observer Hall of Fame, and deservedly so.
  4. Yeah, that annoyed me too.
  5. Here's a much better recap. Lita seems to be a surprisingly good talker when she's given something to work with.

  7. I'm already concerned about the ROH crowd turning on Matt because of the obvious nature of him being in WWE. Hopefully, he and Gabe have considered that as a possibility and have a battle plan worked out in case the audience boos him. We also still haven't heard word about Hardy's scheduled appearance on this Sunday's TNA PPV. I think Edge coming into ROH, while it sounds like a good idea at first, would totally turn the crowd against everyone involved because they're so opposed to WWE. However, there's a possible Punk/Hardy storyline here if the crowd *doesn't* reject Matt, but if they do, I just hope it doesn't catch anyone involved by surprise. It shouldn't, anyway. So far, this angle has been done entirely right. They're walking a very delicate line though, and every single segment is going to have to be booked with the same attention to detail as Matt's run-in on RAW. When it comes time for an authority figure to step in and make the match, hopefully they're wise enough to realize they *must* have Vince in that role and that putting Bischoff in that role will totally kill this.
  8. The first line of that promo should be the first line in the next promo he does. That's a fucking amazing line.
  9. So far, they're still handling this brilliantly. From Byte This:
  10. Midnight Express
  11. The Rockers The Steiners at their best were still spotmonkeys, while the Rockers were far better *wrestlers* and made a far better team. Scott carried the Steiners completely while Michaels and Jannetty were an equal partnership. And even in terms of big spots, the Rockers had better ones.
  12. Has he ever done that on TV? I mean more of a "predict the future" thing with Trish.
  13. I'd just like to point out that all this time, Trish has been trying to warn us all about Lita's loose ways and no one has listened. They should make her gimmick when she comes back that of a psychic. She could tell people where to invest their money and stuff like that. Would be cool.
  14. Not quite as angry Matt Morgan ...
  15. All you people with your high speed connection really rub me the wrong way. I'm on dialup and people seem to be downloading everything these days.
  16. Looks like they're putting Hassan's planned response on WWE.com now instead of on Smackdown since UPN is banning him from this week's show:
  17. She'll understand. Actually, tape it. That's what I'm going to do.
  18. Vote for the team that you feel had the best run as a tag team from 1985 to 2005. Voting will last approximately 24 hours and the winner of each match will advance to the second round. Because the goal of the tournament is to promote discussion, please feel free to explain how you came to your decision as much as possible.

  20. Yeah, I guess someone can start a SD Spoilers thread if they want. This was more for people to randomly post about the excitement of a match they haven't yet seen.
  21. Stephanie hugging Austin, who wasn't trying to be a hero but rather just do the right thing, was GREAT! Probably the only Russo booking moment of 1999 that really worked for me.
  22. UPN demanded Hassan be kept off of TV this week and that the storyline be dropped immediately after all the bad publicity they started receiving on Monday. They really are their own worst enemies sometimes.
  23. According to the spoilers, it was given 10-15 minutes, and it's been a while since Regal has been put in a position to actually have a good match, so this will be a good way to see how he checks out in 2005.
  24. Just an FYI. Watch it. All of yous.
