I don't have any sympathy for someone who thinks he's above being shouted at by Vince McMahon.

For this sort of thing, how heavily should we count sheer number of asses in the seats and eyes on the screen? Far more people watched Chavo Jr. wrestle than ever saw his dad perform, even if Junior was just a forgettable midcarder for most of that time. When was Chavo Jr. ever responsible for drawing the sheer number of asses in the seats and eyes on the screen in WCW and WWE?
-
I'm not sure that's due to stupidity, it may be more due to desperate cost cutting. From this week's Observer: Ruh roh!
-
I really don't think you can make a good argument that Chavo Jr. eclipsed his father. Being a territorial headliner and Japanese junior heavyweight star is more impressive than being a decent mid card hand, even if it is for a national promotion.

"His wife believed the heart attack was caused by Growth Hormone, which he had been getting from Dr. Edmund Chen in Palm Springs until just before his death, when he stopped, due to the cost. ESPN’s “Outside the Lines,” in doing a story on Pillman and other wrestling deaths, had Melanie Pillman state it was Hulk Hogan who connected the two. Hogan never publicly responded to the piece, but privately denied knowing the doctor or having any idea where the story came from. The reporter, when airing Pillman’s claim, said on the air that another wrestler they talked with confirmed the story." - Dave Meltzer in his review of WWE's Brian Pillman DVD.

Someone needs to break the news to Foley that when you draw less than 10,000 buys on PPV, then you are minor league. No ifs or buts about it.

And speaking of Cade, listening to Meltzer on his radio show, it's hilarious that forgetting to shake Shawn's hand may have been the bigger no no than having a seizure on a plane.

"I might have met him once" is code for "I couldn't possibly have known he was a pain pill popping junkie". However, I agree with the point that it is actually plausible that she hardly knew him, though emphasising that fact makes her look cold and distant.

Or do a 45 minute time limit instead.

Sorry Jingus, but no-one cares about Linda telling whoppers about the number of times she met one of her dead wrestlers. If nobody cared about her lying in her application form to be appointed on the Connecticut Board of Education, then they won't care about that.

I posted this on Cageside Seats: So to be fair to Dave he wasn't selling for Heyman.

I really think it's something wrestling should try and get away from. It's 2010 after all and they rarely get over.

Yeah, Russo may have been embellishing the story a bit, but given that Austin and Taker are perfectionists, I wouldn't be surprised if they were disappointed in the match. It was a good match, but it couldn't follow the preceding ladder match which was Rock's breakout performance. In this case the hype was better than the match itself, which probably helped Russo's standing when Austin and Taker nixed his script, and what they came up with instead didn't really click.
-
Yeah this. The hype was pretty bold and unique, that it fooled people into believing the match result would be similar. Given that it was an invasion angle, it was inevitable that team WWE would be put over strong, if not this month, then the next one.
-
Given that their roster may be decimated by October, Cornette's really the only thing left that ROH has got going for them.
-
I think the SummerSlam main event garnering disappointing heat when Austin and Undertaker vetoed Russo's ideas for the match and decided to do a clean babyface vs. babyface match instead probably helped Russo get more influence over the product.

Should we just take it for granted that Dawn only collected $3,000 for Steve Williams, when she originally aimed to raise $20,000?
-
So I have a question stemming from Dave Meltzer on the latest Observer Radio Show: what on earth did Ric Flair write in his autobiography that caused Beth to get so upset that it led to his divorce?
-
I think the new Florida group could easily pick up the slack with that regard, given the people involved and some of the guys they've shown interest in. TNAnonymous needs to remember that the grass is not always greener. I wouldn't risk burning my bridge with the company until I was sure the Florida group was for real.

With the WON HOF discussion ongoing I have to wonder. If Lennon made the Hall, why hasn't Finkel? Yeah, at the very least he should have been put on the ballot already.
-
Yeah, Flair loved working with Wahoo McDaniel and Ronnie Garvin for that reason. Also, Flair against the evil foreigner had worked before.
-
I suppose by that logic Fit Finlay's performance on Nancy Grace was awesome, as he was a heel on WWE TV at the time.

She was a female bodybuilder and fitness model before she came to WWE, so I suspect she started using steroids before her WWE career. It would be interesting to see a picture of her pre bodybuilding and fitness modelling. I suspect she would look quite different.

From the file marked Dave Meltzer gets tetchy at a board member for not bowing down to his booking wisdom:

I think somewhere during the aftermath of the Benoit murders is when Dave realised that the business will never be forced to change from outside, so you might as well just hope that the business will eventually change for the better from within.
