G.O.P. Rival Criticizes Blumenthal on Integrity “To have had sort of a pattern of deception over a period of time I think is reflective of character.” - Linda McMahon

Yes, this was the match that came third in the DVDVR best of the 1980s NJ Results. Given that write up I can see why the match was slept on for so long.

Bryan Alvarez getting so angry on the latest Observer radio show about MMA fans getting violently angry about rankings on message board forums is amusing.

I think the odds of Alberto Del Rios ever becoming world champion are so slim it's not worth bringing that possibility up. Anyway, I thought WWE had already screwed with UFC, but I suppose we're just meant to forget that Dave said anything about that and it never happened. The Vince Dana relationship and Dave's reporting of it is weird. I think both want to officially pretend that they actually don't care much about each other with Dave having to pretend too, but their actions at times suggest otherwise.

SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FUCKING FUCK. It's not like Sean Oliver is very discriminatory over the questions he chooses to ask.

When was this? I was being kind when I labelled his insanity merely drunken.

Matt Hardy continues his descent into drunken insanity...

I can sort of understand her logic here (without the benefit of context of the question asked and her whole answer). "Fire Russo" to her, means that they hate the booking. Shit rolls downhill, always has and always will. So if the fans dislike the booking, then it's going to be the low man on the totem pole who feels the brunt of it. It's no different than last year when the WWE started feeling the impact of the shitty economy. They didn't respond by firing HHH, Orton, Cena, etc. when they headlined PPVs that drew less money than the previous year. They responded by laying off front office staff. Especially when the wrap was that most of segments that got a fire Russo chant were Dutch Mantels. Wasn't that just Vince Russo working Wade Keller?

Are you suggesting that Dave is watching Arn with 2010 eyes? Nah, Dave would probably rate early 80s Tiger Mask above Arn too!
-
I got the sense that Wade was holding back a bit and giving the politically safe answer.

Here's some better evidence for those Sherdoggers that UFC is pure evil: UFC's Fertitta brothers are not above using illegal tactics to thwart union formation

I think people may be reading too much into this. It makes sense for Danielson to strike while the iron is hot. It also wouldn't be the first time that some indy promoters marked out and overspent on ex WWE talent. See Flair, Ric.
-
Regarding Luger: Some people also think that history proved that Luger was overpushed in the late 80s too.

I don't really find Bret marrying a younger woman all that weird or surprising. What is a bit weird is him hooking up with mega marks at autograph signings. It really suggests that his vice was less about having sex with lots of women and more about having unconditional, unquestioning, unthinking hero worship. At least Flair picks up his younger wives in more normal surroundings.

Oh he is he thinks yawning is a signing of weakness both in himself and others. Oh I buy that he hates spitting, but to the point that he would fire Bryan Danielson over it, that I don't buy.

A couple of highly amusing tidbits from the latest Observer newsletter: Oh come on, Vince may be crazy, but he's not that crazy. Oh Bret, will you never learn...
-
I don't really disagree, but I think some of the heat should go on the interviewer for going through and asking the question.

To be fair Bix, if you're a woman doing a YouShoot DVD you should really be sensible enough to be prepared for the worst and expect such questions thrown at you.

Vince Russo: the first man to make men in tights appealing.
kjh replied to kjh's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I don't think there will be much else out there, if any, as Russo only ran two Ring of Glory shows and rarely participated in other Christian wrestling shows. -
You should ask him about how his proposed fight with his brother Ken fell apart and whether he still wants to fight him in the future. His thoughts on the effectiveness of using YouTube to hype a fight - should more fighters follow in his footsteps and be doing the same? Did he really think the IFL could make it?

Todd must have slept through the entire Monday Night Wars boom period where the WWF and WCW booked exactly like that and it was very effective before the people in charge got burnt out, lost their minds and let their egos get in the way of business. The point being is that you can book week to week and make it work. This might be one of the silliest lines Todd's ever written and that covers a lot of ground. I mean Larry Miller gets pro wrestling better than Todd does. Pro wrestling is junk food entertainment. Todd's argument here is the equivalent of going to McDonald's and complaining that their burgers aren't made from the finest cuts of veal.

Vince Russo: the first man to make men in tights appealing.
kjh replied to kjh's topic in Publications and Podcasts
There's no Vic Venom style writing, he's a changed man after all. There's a few glaring spelling/grammar errors, but it's not too bad for the most part. -
Probably that wrestling isn't the cool in thing anymore. For a guy who got into the business for the fame and the fortune, it's not surprising that he's grown disgruntled and slightly embarrassed with the business as its popularity has declined, overtaken by real fighting.

Vince Russo: the first man to make men in tights appealing.
kjh replied to kjh's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Not only is Vince Russo a consumate family man, but drug free too: And he's also a more gifted theologian than his Catholic preachers growing up: -
That's actually a fair paraphrase of what Meltzer said. I thought the funniest comment was Batista saying to Meltzer "Just don't compare me to Chris Jericho", when asked about whether he planned to return down the line to WWE like Jericho did.
