In fairness, there were a couple points where TNA would have been dead in 3 months if not for various unexpected saviors.

There was still a bunch of good stuff in the USWA's last 4 years. It did drop off after the big Moondogs feud, but you still had the rise of Brian Christopher & PG-13, Jeff Jarrett's first heel turn, Eddie Gilbert's last Memphis run, the SMW feud, and a bunch of other fun stuff.

Oh, most of XPW's run was pretty crappy, but the last several months were fine and there was decent stuff at times before then.

You had then 40/41 with the Nashville match #40. Dean and Phil had them in the same order, though Dean liked the Boston match considerably less than you two did. John Really? That's weird...

"Aside from Goofy Gimmicks" and "Some of them" Are understated here. WOW was very heavy on goofy gimmicks, and had every stereotype under the sun that isn't seen as offensive here only because the bar is so low on offensive things in wrestling (saying wrestling has always had stereotypes is not a valid argument, also). To say "aside from goofy gimmicks" with wow is akin to saying "aside from the war in Iraq" with GwB. A key element of WOW was the gimmicks, you can't deny that. Well, what I meant was that while the gimmicks were ridiculous and kitschy, for the most part, the booking was actually very solid and logical. Oh c'mon, there is no way that Peggy Lee Leather is worse than guys like Petey Williams or Lance Hoyt. They actually had some pretty decent talent for the time, such as: Cactus Jack Dan Spivey Steve Williams Terry Gordy Larry Zbyszko Bam Bam Bigelow The Blackhearts Most of the roster was pretty washed up, but there were bright spots.

A big part of the problem is that TNA seems to have no real identity. Not as much lately, but they wanted to be seen as THE ALTERNATIVE with the X Division roster overlapping with ROH a lot, while even pre-Russo the show was this retarded WWE Lite like the middle part of GWF, only with flip piledrivers. At the very least, XPW had a clear identity as the methed out lovechild of ECW and porn. Towards the end, it was a perfectly fine promotion with Douglas booking.

Oh, definitely. That's one of the things I want to focus on. I also want to get insight into the workings of the WWF front office, and how booking there was different from booking a territory.

I recall the Boston match being better. I nominated that one, Kris nominated the Coliseum Video one.

I find it hilarious how apparently Jarrett would whine about how they had a big roster overlap with ROH yet didn't get the praise ROH did. Then the thing last night where their parody of stupid WWE booking has become their own stupid booking and it gives me a headache and I have to stop posting.

I actually liked WOW in a non-ironic fashion. Aside from the goofy gimmicks, the booking was solid and logical. The women were mostly very, very green, but it was fun to see some of them grow into decent wrestlers.

The really bad Russoed up Attitude stuff was barely a year though, as some good stuff was still happening until he really went full tilt around Survivor Series '98.

The contenders: - WCW 2000 had some vastly entertaining B-shows. - GLOW wasn't really supposed to be any sort of serious wrestling. - Herb Abrams' UWF had some decent stuff on and off w/ Doc, Gordy, Cactus, etc. - Florida in '87 was a huge decline from the glory years, but you still had good stuff w/ guys like the Sheepherders and Bad News Allen. - XPW had good stuff sprinkled throughout the card during its whole run and was perfectly fine for its last several months. - ECW in 2000 had Tajiri-Psicosis, the tag tournament, and Chris Hamrick. - The AWF didn't last long and had some decent stuff w/ Adams, Tito, & Orton.
