Do you think Muhammad Hussan has a bright future?
Coffey replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
I'm still waiting to see the "Magic Carpet Ride" ("Flying Carpet?") in WWE. I think that'd be comedy. The only problem is it'd probably get some fans to rally behind the duo and WWE definitely wouldn't want that. It's just a Frog Splash with the carpet but it looks hilarious. Too bad they have to wrestle Hogan and HBK at Backlash. I don't think they can recover from the loss if they don't win. -
Simple question really. Do you think he had a lot of potential? He seems to be a great talker. He has a decent look. He can garner heat in his current gimmick. He also seems to be improving fast as every match he's in, at least to me, seems to be better than the previous match. Of course, he hasn't had a match in awhile. Still, I like that he's using the Camel Clutch more now. I wasn't digging the Flatliner being his finisher. When he does the Flatliner to set up the Camel Clutch though, that's cool. I dig Daivari too. Actually, I might even like him more. So, what do you guys think of the tandem? As far as their WWE work is concerned.

What do you want out of the wrestling folder?
Coffey replied to Loss's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
I say we use wrestlers from Wrestlemania III to present. WCW, WWF & ECW. As far as criteria is concerned, I have no clue. I would just vote whom I liked better in the match-up. Of course, it'd just be from an overall personal opinion. Sometimes I prefer nostalgia or comedy over workrate. -
I haven't seen any of those matches, nor do I own any of them. I'm interested, the coming up with money is the hard part. I'm sure I can get seven bucks though. I'll let you know what's up. I have a question though, all of this fits on one tape? What are the match lengths?

Oh, shit ya. I'd be all for that. Especially if it were just WWF/WWE. As long as we don't go back to WWWF and Vince Sr. days, I'll know everybody. If we're shooting for best WWF wrestling though, we'll need criteria. I mean, are we going by workrate alone? Workrate, promo's, provided entertainment, feuds, matches? -

I'm not a big fan of the "list" threads, especially when it pertains to years. I can't remember '97 from '98 or '99. Just like I can't remember '90 from '91 & '92. Especially now that there's Raw and Smackdown every week and about fifty PPV's a year. I can't even remember the names of all the PPVs anymore. I like threads that spawn differing opinions and discussion. When it's just come in, name a match and dip that discussion doesn't really happen unless someone forces it. It's like all the discussion seems forced. Like someone has to take the "devil's advocate" role to even get the ball rolling. We usually just converse about something that we all share a similar opinion on. It doesn't bring a lot of discussion, just a lot of agreeing. I liked when we were doing the talk about certain wrestlers. I didn't like that we had, like, five at a time. I like to learn shit about dudes whenever possible. If we, for example, could combine what we've been doing into like one big daily thread I think it'd bring more discussion and we might even learn some shit. Like, have a thread about a certain wrestler. We can list what we like and dislike about them. Talk about the matches that they've had that we think are the best and possibly list the matches of theirs that we've seen which are the shits. Actually, a wrestler a day is probably too much. That forces the discussion to come to a halt at the end of the day. Maybe we could even list matches by certain people that we've seen that are obscure so others can seek them out? Something like that. Like their early days and whatnot. Also, I think we should focus LESS on Puro because of the people that we have here. I mean, I know that personally my experience to Japanese wrestling is very low...and I've actually went out of my way to read about it and buy tapes and shit. So, I'd like to think that my knowledge is above average. I'm a bigger fan of us talking about our opinions instead of commenting on what people at the Wrestling Observer typed out and what not. I mean, I like to hear about the little nuggets too. I'm glad I know about the Lita/Edge/Hardy shit and all that. I don't think that Meltzer's opinion is anymore valid that that of Loss or Goodhelmet or Sek though. We can have the informative news threads, like releases and whatnot, but I don't like it when it all becomes speculation and shit. We never talk about the indies either. We don't talk about Ring of Honor, TNA or OVW...ever really. Are there people that we should be on the look-out for that haven't had MotYC's in RoH? I don't mind reading tape reviews and shit but I think that's more main page shit. All you can talk about in the forums as it pertains to that is stuff like "good article" or "i agree." "Hey guys, I posted my new article on-line today!" "Great read man." You know, "natey2k4" or whatever the fuck his name is at TSM has a good idea. He just starts threads that ask a question and discussion takes off from there. Shit like should WWE have video packages for all PPV matches? Stuff like that will get differing opinions. I think he's a shitty poster but he has the right idea. If the original post were to be more descriptive and whatnot, like we're capable of here, we'd probably stumble onto some good threads. -
Jericho makes controversial comments on radio show

Have to love people that speak on the behalf of others. I don't care if Dave is his roommate, it still doesn't hold much weight to me. -
Jericho makes controversial comments on radio show

Angle is more entertaining. Especially now. Jericho in WCW is would be debatable. As far as those matches are concerned, it doesn't really matter what I think of them. It's already apparent that we disagree. -
Too much drama. I'll be glad when it's all over and people quit talking about it. Personally, I think Rhyno damn near being suicidal should've been a lot bigger deal than Edge commiting adultery.

Bah, I haven't cared about Jericho since he was a Cruiserweight in WCW. He hasn't really done anything in WWE that I care about. Certainly nothing from a workrate standpoint. He's no Benoit or Angle. Never really was. Actually, I've always thought he was overrated. He can be humorous on occasion but so can a lot of other wrestlers. -
Actually, it's not. Mine was.
-
There's a lot of hot women from Hawaii too. :-/
-
Now I want to see that Cornette video. Ya'll built it up too much.
-
I can't even be bothered to enjoy Raw anymore. The only people I seem to care about nowadays are Muhammad Hassan, Maven and Rob Conway. Why? I have no idea. I wish Carlito was on Raw.
-
Stuff still matters in non-WWE wrestling. Look at Samoa Joe's RoH title reign. People cared.
-
Wow. Just wow. So they fire Molly and they're getting ready to run ANOTHER "Diva Search" contest? Great. That's fine, there's no one left in WWE that I care about anyway, so they might as well turn it into more skimpy trash.
-
According to Meltzer, Matt Hardy has a 90-day "no compete" clause. I didn't hear anything about Rhyno though.
-
I agree. Gail Kim was actually starting to get pretty good. Sure, she did all of those headscissors and shit when she was working with men that could support her weight but it was sloppy when she was working with WWE women that weren't Molly. Since Molly and Gail were both heels at the time, it didn't make a whole lot of sense for her to continue to work that style. So she switched. She started doing unique (at least in WWE) wrestling moves. I was digging it. Then she got canned, after getting new cans. :-/ WWE pretty much fucked her up from the get-go though. I remember her debut which was in a Raw Battle Royal. No one knew who she was so she didn't get a pop. Then she won the match, and the belt, and the crowd was obviously apathetic. So she got off to a bad start. To be honest, I don't really care about Rhyno. Like I said in another post, he's not been the same since coming back from surgery. It's like he wrestles super safe now. I used to at least like to watch him Gore people. I can't even say that any more. Matt Hardy's case is just a sad one. I also think Dustin Rhodes release was a bad one.
-
Well, Matt Hardy came to Raw from Smackdown not too long ago. So, I can see why WWE wouldn't want to move him back to Smackdown. The same can be said about Edge. Lita, I think, would've fit in with the other useless women in the company on Smackdown. She could've done random bikini whore strip #78 with Torrie, Dawn and the new women that I don't know the name of. Still, Hardy and Edge would've been on the same show, which means the problem would've still existed. I guess WWE seem to have big plans for Edge. Bigger than what they had planned for Hardy. Afterall, Edge has a title shot coming up after winning that Money in the Bank match. So, logically, this makes sense. That doesn't mean that it's morally correct though. A lot of people seem to be speculating that perhaps Hardy asked for his release? I wonder what the stipulations of his release are? Surely WWE wouldn't have some huge ass "no compete" clause in it after being canned in this matter?
-
That's all is says Sek. Still, this is pretty shocking to me.
-
http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/20050411_rhynohardy.jsp So Lita and Edge cheat together...and they remain on TV. Hell, they're ACTIVELY on TV. Matt was the innocent victim and out on the shelf with an injury, and he's the one to get fired? This is odd.
-
You know, that Summerslam match between Austin & Angle (2001) gets slept on a lot. Too bad it didn't have a clean finish or that match would've been fabulous.

Rhyno released, Creative Team Member gone as well
Coffey replied to MyOwnSummer's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
Man, I didn't think that Rhyno would get fired over that shit but I guess he's "expendable." I've never really thought that he was anything special anyway. Especially since he's lost all of that intensity. Ever since his neck surgery, he's just not been the same. He used to deliver the Gore in a way that made you wait to see if he'd connect with it or not. Nowadays it's as shitty as Edge's version. In ECW I always thought that Rhyno was a joke. I remember getting pissed off because they were pushing him so hard. I was like "why's this nubby bastard consistantly going over Sandman?" -
I liked Benoit/Angle at Royal Rumble '03 and Hunter/Benoit/Michaels at 'Mania XX.
