[1997-09-15-WCW-Nitro] Ric Flair face shot / Tony Schiavone reaction
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Flair gets a face lift. Tony is so upset that he just walks out of the announce booth! We got to go! -
[1997-09-15-WWF-Raw] Interview: Shawn Michaels
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Nice shorts Shawn. He has set his focus on the European title?! Okay. He gave the fans the best match at Ground Zero against Undertaker. That match didn’t impress me much. It might not have had much competition though. Taker seems like the last guy Shawn would like to be provoking. -
[1997-09-15-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin and Jerry Lawler
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Poor Jerry. Keep your chin up! Lawler has enjoyed the previous stunners on Ross and Slaughter. Austin will do whatever he wants. Bret!!! Hart Foundation is out. Harts have a Andy Kauffman look a like as their attorney. How did Lawler not piledrive that guy? Stunner on Jerry! That was awesome. -
Here we go. Never seen this but watching the full match from WWE released blu ray. Bagwell might be the worst guy ever to start a War Games. WCW couldn’t get Dillon to at least do the coin toss? What a half assed effort by JJ running WCW. Poor first five minutes to start even with Benoit involved. Just no heat. I was wishing for Mongo to get involved. Syxx ain’t wearing wrestling gear. Tony talks about if this is your first War Games and I’m thinking you are very disappointed. Hennig arrives with arm in sling. Did WCW have a no blood policy in 1997 as there is a big lack of it in this match? Hennig turns on the Horsemen. What a just flat and depressing match. I still need to see the later War Games matches in full but this is the worst of them I’ve seen so far. Horsemen have been buried.

[1997-09-14-WCW-Fall Brawl] Interview: Four Horsemen
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Horsemen don’t seem to be all that broken up about the Hennig attack either. I guess they aren’t too attached to him since he just joined the group. -
They don’t seem to be sweating what is suppose to be one of the most dangerous matches.

[1997-09-14-WCW-Fall Brawl] NWO attack Curt Hennig
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Gene is plugging the hotline about someone being very upset with the Anderson parody. Hennig is left laid out in the lockeroom by the NWO it seems. -
[1997-09-14-WCW-Fall Brawl] Ultimo Dragon vs Alex Wright
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Wow, Savage Garden as song for disc. Those 90‘s. Anyways, at least WCW are finally calling him Ultimo. Good match but agreed that is below Jericho/Guerrero. I do like the Wright push. -
[1997-09-14-WCW-Fall Brawl] Eddy Guerrero vs Chris Jericho
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
It’s a good match but my problem with the finish is that it looked like Guerrero took a brainbuster off the top rope and just popped up after leading to him win. But Eddy is great overall and this all leads up to him facing Rey for the title. -
Sasaki vs Kawada, New Japan October 9, 2000 Kawada in a suit is so bad ass. He should have wrestled in the match like that. Don’t kick Kawada in the leg! He gets fired up and exchanges some kicks back. Kawada eggs Sasaki on to chop him in the chest. Kawada was top notch when it came to getting the sweat fly off his face when he got smacked in the head. It’s an excellent match but I don’t view it as high as I use to. Maybe too harsh on my part. They are justing beating the crap out of each other with clotheslines. Still a strong match but not the top ten I may have programmed it to be going in. Sasaki is not pleased with himself in losing and gives up the IWGP title. Credit to him in taking that much pride in himself for not being able to win match.

Akiyama, Takayama & Shiga vs Kobashi, Rikio & Kikuchi, NOAH September 25, 2000 Shiga’s stirkes looks so weak compared to everyone else. Ha, Kikuchi gets ballsy and tries to take on both Akiyama and Takayama and ends up getting squished into the mat. He deserved that. Shiga against Kobashi is painful to watch. The audio isn’t in full sync with the video. When you are watching the great six mans from 90's and then this you are seeing some serious drop off. This was barely average as a whole. No chance to make it in my top 100.

It was a bloody affair all around. Dude!

Kanemoto & Tanaka vs Liger & Makabe, New Japan September 12, 2000 Kanemoto just kicking the crap out of Makabe’s back. Liger looks cool but I’m not completely behind the all black look. Long commercial break here. World Cup 2002. I hate penalty kicks!!!! Back to match. Tanaka has a few good looking moves but I’ve never got behind the whole package of him in the ring. Kanemoto is such an asshole when he gets the heel hook on an kicks Liger repeatedly in the back. He still has his flippy awful senton I dislike. Makabe finally does something in match and hits a big German. Top rope German by Liger! Makabe does have a better spear than Edge. Tanaka does his crazy roundhouse kick attempt where he lands on his feet. Did he actually ever hit someone with the kick itself? Makabe’s whole offense is German’s and spears. The last few minutes were good but the first half was nothing. And I can’t get behind Tanaka and Makabe right now. This won’t make it for me.

[1997-09-13-ECW-TV] Paul E. Dangerously announcement
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Paul was very respectful towards Gordon giving reasons as to why Tod couldn’t continue on as commissioner and has to resign. I just read that Gordon owns a pawnbroker shop. He should get his own TV show. I can see Dreamer showing up with the chair he hit Raven with with handcuffed to the cage and trying to sell it. -
[1997-09-11-Wrestlefest] Bret Hart vs Terry Funk
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Terry Funk’s retirement match! Nice to see it included as this will be the end of Terry in the yearbooks. The ring announcer has to look down as his index card when he says Bret...... The Hitman Hart. Classy promo by Bret beforehand though he’s still determined to beat Funk in match. I like them going to the mat and Terry doing some wrestling. I don’t care for Bruce Hart taking shots at Funk. Doing piledrivers always seemed to be a struggle for Terry. For all Funk’s attempts to keep it to the mat and in the ring he ends up doing a crazy moonsault through a ringside table. Funk puts up a fight but can't beat the current WWF champion. Stamp is a better referee than Hebner. -
Piper is the new commissioner of WCW to fill in for Dillon. Hopefully he’s stronger than JJ. Piper brings up his resume as President of WWF which is a nice touch. Roddy says Sting versus Hogan will happen before the end of 1997. As a good authority figure he immediately signs himself into a match with Hogan at Havoc. Piper changes the members of the War Games match the week before the show by sticking the Horsemen in there.

Buff drinking from a coffee mug. More Flair getting burried. Nash says they are big stars and won’t do what they are told but Bagwell and Konnan will wrestle instead for the WCW. Hierarchy is too sweet.

[1997-09-08-WCW-Nitro] Eddy Guerrero vs Rey Misterio Jr
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Announcers mention we are looking for a new commissioner for WCW. Rey did botch that springboard big time and amazing they were still able to hit the headscissors in motion. Guerrero hits some powermoves on smaller Rey. Mess ups didn’t stop Rey from continuing to go back to the high flying stuff. -
[1997-09-08-WCW-Nitro] Interview: Four Horsemen
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Football fans showing their loyalty. Mongo telling the fans to shut up is a major no no as Horsemen are the faces. Immediately clear how much Arn is missed by not adding a promo to start this off. Flair carries things for the team and says Horsemen will not leave the ring until NWO comes down. Flair repeats this many times. Dillinger and two security guys end up clearing the ring of the Horsemen. Ouch! Tony asks where was security last week with the NWO in the ring. A worthy question Tony. -
[1997-09-08-WWF-Raw] Goldust vs Owen Hart / XXX Files part 2
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Owen doesn’t even take off his ring jacket. A Bret sighting! He ends up getting run off with rest of Hart Foundation by Austin. Well, Neidhart had disappeared. -
[1997-09-08-WWF-Raw] The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1997
Hell In a Cell has been announced for Badd Blood! Undertaker lets Michaels know there is no way out. Feels like for most of the year WWF Title has not been the main program. -
Sunny and Dude Love have a dance during the introductions. Dude introduces Goldust to be in his corner. Mileydust has only half of his face makeup on. Hard to cheer him agreeing to stipulations on match. Pillman shows creepy video of him from his hotel and he brags about having sex with Marlena.
