I think I remember hearing that too. BTW, it's not my favorite podcast - it was just the only podcast I was listening to by virtue of it being on the Network. I listened to the Jerry Jarrett podcast yesterday during a long drive, and I'll probably continue to dabble in other audio podcasts from time to time (the Bob Holly episode of my "favorite" podcast sounds like fun).

Don't forget about Lawler's horrible faux-Rock outfits during commentary on Raw.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
C.S. replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
You're getting way too deep into that Bruce character now. Hahaha. I probably am watching way too much of them. I cleansed my palate with a Jerry Jarrett podcast today. (Posted after 11 p.m., so let's see if this survives the new board.) -

But so what? She wasn't filling the same role others were. She did very well coming out, looking good, and being the foil for angles ("jealous" Marc Mero, etc.). Sure, she was put in the impossible position of being expected to wrestle, but why hold that against her? Russo did that bullshit with all the non-wrestling women. (In WCW, he did it with Elizabeth and the Nitro Girls, for example.) You can't blame an untrained woman for not being Chigusa Nagayo or [insert random Japanese women's wrestler that Dave Meltzer gave five stars to and put in his Hall of Fame]. -
Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

He's doing the same thing Bruce & Conrad does, he recycles his stuff. I'm actively waiting for tomorrow's show. Sable has potential to be a fascinating dive in the Attitude Era peak, not to mention Russo's inanity. Don't tempt me or I'll start a separate thread dedicated to just my thoughts on the Prichard podcast. Anyway, am I the only one who thinks Sable unfairly gets a bad rap? -
I'm hosting a weekly podcast with Jerry Jarrett - help me out!
C.S. replied to Sean Liska's topic in Pro Wrestling
I finally listened to the first episode (I was saving it for a long drive). Awesome, awesome stuff. I won't spoil anything, but I'll just say that I was really surprised by what Jerry Jarrett said about the drawing aspect of Andy Kaufman's run. Sean did a great job. He was prepared and knowledgeable, but he never interrupted or overstepped Jerry. It also helps that Sean has a good voice. I know that's superficial to comment on because not everyone is blessed that way (including me), but it really makes things much more enjoyable to listen to. Jerry's Southern dialect and pronunciations were darling too. The audio quality was also superb. It was like Sean and Jerry were in the car with me. No, actually better, because I think my car's audio system is superior and easier to understand than live human voices. All in all, the hour flew by, and I'm definitely looking forward to more (I know the second podcast is already out, but since it's a two-parter, I might wait for the third first). BTW, I'm really happy that this podcast is on iTunes now. For the first podcast, I Dropboxed it onto my phone. That worked very well, but having it native to iTunes will be even easier. I've already subscribed. -
Doesn't change the fact that he would've been used like London and Kendrick in 2006.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

Something Else to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard: Hardy Boyz (WWE Network) A pretty missable episode. No real information. When they discussed the Hardys' various singles runs, Bruce inexplicably focused on Jeff and ignored Matt. Yeah, I get that Jeff was the bigger star, but his constant drug problems can only be interesting for so long - and by so long, I mean never. I'd much rather hear about what Matt was doing during that period instead of Junkie Jeff self-sabotaging his career and life for the 20th time. Prichard even admitted that Matt was more passionate about wrestling, but Jeff was more over. I've personally always preferred Matt, and it sounds like Bruce did too. At least Matt got credit for being a creative genius when they briefly touched on the Broken/Woken Universe. Prichard was wearing a "Pronouns, Pal" t-shirt - referencing one of Vince/WWE's linquistic quirks - and rarely spoke in pronouns during the podcast, which became distracting as hell. "When Jeff was in this match, Jeff did this," etc. Conrad was in a very jovial mood, which was also boring. Even though it's mostly fake, I think I prefer their bickering. Unless you're a diehard Hardys fan, you can easily skip this episode. The biggest news coming out of it had nothing to do with the Hardys - it's that Something Else to Wrestle is wrapping up "Season 1" soon, so I guess this show won't be on the Network 52 weeks a year like I had previously thought for some reason. This is exactly what it was. It wasn't an exaggerated Bruce hate-fest. He said he enjoyed the matches once he knew they were all safe. -

Fantastic news! Thanks so much, Loss.

I so wish the "like" button worked here, because I jammed on it as soon as I saw this post.

The best 400+ pounder ever? It still upsets me that he was so badly damaged during the end of his WCW stint by Hogan and for his entire WWE run.

I'm fine with it in Ellsworth's case, because he never should have been released in the first place. In my mind, "Creative has nothing for you" means Creative should be fired - their job is literally to come up with stuff for people. That being said, I obviously realize that's a BS excuse and it's really "Vince sees nothing in you anymore." More on Cass's firing: This is from "the TMZ guy" so I'm not sure how much credence to put into it. http://www.prowrestlingsheet.com/reasoning-details-big-cass-release/ And Mike Bucci went Super Nova on Cass, accusing him of being an arrogant millennial twat waffle (my words, not Bucci's, but they convey what he said quite nicely IMO). https://www.facebook.com/mike.bucci.75/posts/10216519722169816 Quite a shame if he had all these attitude issues, because it seems to me like he finally turned a corner with his ring work in that last Bryan match. As tempting as it is to credit that to a total Bryan carry-job, their last match wasn't nearly as good.
-
E.A. and Large Mass will end up in TNA by the end of the year IMO.
-
Firing him a month after that incident though? That makes zero sense to me.
-
How do we know he didn't? A sudden release like this, with no "we wish you the best of luck" attached to it, doesn't happen unless he screwed up royally.
-
Enzo and Cass were supposed to be one of the top tag teams for years to come. Cass was rumored to be a Vince favorite in line for a mega-push (which I never quite believed). Now both are gone. Carmella has had, by far, the most success of the trio. Who the hell would've predicted that back in 2016?
-
Big Cass released WWE has come to terms on the release of William Morrissey (Big Cass). https://www.wwe.com/article/big-cass-released Kind of shocking, because I thought Big Cass and Daniel Bryan had the best match a lug like Cass could possibly have. I hope Cass didn't re-injure Bryan or something. Notice that Cass was not wished the best of luck in his future endeavors.

AJ Styles in 2006 was a great worker already. I'd call him legit great as early as 2005 at worst. But he had literally nothing else going for him back then - bad look (fresh-faced fraternity dork), abysmal mic work, etc. For better or worse, he would not have made it in the WWE of 2006.
-
So, it was his idea. I'm shocked such a creative genius never really made it.
-
My impressions of Kenny Omega vs. Cru Jones: - Wow, Omega was young. He looked like a dork and his mic work was the drizzling shits. - With that said, this was a fun little TV match. Omega's ring work looked good, at least, even if his overall "presentation" was severely lacking (dorky look, dumpy tights, etc.). - Whatever became of Cru Jones? He seems like exactly the kind of guy they would have pushed circa 2006, yet Omega won the match and Cru Jones never made it past developmental (neither did Omega, for that matter). - For all of the talk of WWE "missing the boat" with Omega, it's easy to see why he would not have been anyone's definition of a "sure thing" in 2006. Like AJ Styles back then, he simply needed more time, seasoning, and experience elsewhere. Edit: A Google search tells me they stole the name Cru Jones from the movie "Rad." Really, WWE?! Wow, Developmental truly was a bad joke back then...

Velveteen Dream should be the one to beat Adam "Bore-Bay" Cole for the already worthless NXT North American Championship. (What is it with reddish belts being complete and utter valueless disappointments?)

From Charles Robinson on Twitter: For as great a town that Chicago is for wrestling (one of the best ever), it is really disappointing that they can be so disrespectful when guys like @JinderMahal and @WWERomanReigns are busting there butts and giving us a great match. 8:34 PM - 17 Jun 2018 from Rosemont, IL https://twitter.com/WWERobinson/status/1008523276719706112 Two thoughts: 1. While I partly agree with him, because Roman and Jinder did bust their asses and exceed expectations, this was a match no one asked for or wanted to see. What did WWE expect in Chicago of all places? 2. Their, not there.

No matter how formulaic and overdone these matches have become, I have immense respect for everyone in them - I'd scared to climb my ladder just to change my smoke alarm battery (and my damn knee buckled on me the last time I tried).
