Just out of curiosity, what is your perception of who Mauro enjoys and who I don't enjoy? Always interesting to see how accurate it is to the reality (at least in my case - neither of us can exactly read Mauro's mind to know for sure what he likes and doesn't like).
-
I don't remember this. But I won't deny it either. Even though you're joking, this makes me wonder which wrestlers Mauro truly favors. 100% I really hope Creed tells them to fuck off and suffer the consequences for their shortsighted bullshit. Yes, pun very much intended.
-
Booker T: "All these years, do you remember one Aleister Black match?" Ouch! And the answer is no. I'm sure someone will cite his wildly overrated NXT work though. The Miz? Not like AEW would take him - even though they should, because he's a better worker in the ring and on the mic than 90% of the wrestlers there.
-
1. Being a "good worker" is overrated. 2. Most of the "good workers" in AEW are wildly overrated as such. New Day is about as no-brainer a signing as it gets for AEW. I will agree with the the part about the backstage comedy though. While I liked it more than you did, that's not really in AEW's DNA. However, Kofi and Woods proved they could be effective serious characters when they turned on Big E. It's not their fault the "genius booker" didn't follow up on it. Not like they're alone in that either. See: Cena, John. No one seems too concerned about what their new names will be. I think Kofi (his real name) and Creed (Woods' trademarked name) rolls off the tongue nicely as a team name.
-
I'll admit to not understanding some of you. Kofi and Woods are exactly the kind of ex-WWE wrestlers AEW should be hiring. They're still reasonably over (being cooled off by one of the worst bookers ever isn't an indictment against them), AEW wrestlers want to work with them, and there are several cool matches that could happen. Plus, unlike Black, who never accomplished anything or drew a dime anywhere, New Day has actual credentials and they won't "big league" everyone else and look down on AEW. The heel turn was amazing, which I credit entirely to the performances of Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E. But as usual in "The Paul Levesque Era," there was no follow-up. The "genius booker" fumbled the ball, as he always does.

I've heard two possible names: Sinister (I love this) Nox Raijin (translates to Thunder God) - no, this is NXT CAW name generator crap

EVIL debuted in...NXT. Lole. The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship has never meant less.
-
Also released: Aria Bennett from EVOLVE And yeah, Dick Khan reading tweets from the dumbest fans - admittedly not difficult to find plenty of examples - just to prove his anti-consumer points certainly is a take.
-
Add Carlee Bright to the list of releases, two days before appearing on LFG.

Captain Shawn Dean, Max Caster (although this is his usual shtick) and MJF (retweeting Caster) have all said they don't want Black back in AEW. Oof! Lesson to be learned: Don't big league your colleagues, don't think you're a "star" when you've never done anything anywhere or gotten any fans to buy a ticket to see you, and DON'T BURN BRIDGES. Rusev will learn this the hard way too - probably in a year or less. Yes, he was the victim of Vince booking malpractice, but that excuse only goes so far when it happened years ago at this point.

If I'm TK, I bring Black back for a Collision one-shot to do a submission squash job to Brody King and then never use him again. Is he from a famous wrestling family? A family of politicians? I just realized I've never been given any reason outside of NXT to care about this guy or commit his origin story to my memory.
-
Black didn't do business in AEW, so I doubt he gets another shot there. He completely overrated himself. He's not, has never been, and never will be a top guy. Something has always been missing with him. I actually see far more upside in Zelina Vega. I still feel bad for both of them though. MCMG are future ROH Tag Team Champions, I guess, or lifers on Collision. Kairi Sane seems like a weird release. I wonder if she requested it? I could see her having bangers in AEW and NJPW.

Looks like Rowan is official now. I'd be surprised if Lumis isn't announced soon. Update: Add Dante Chen to the list. Lumis is gone.
-
That's my assumption as well. I wonder if any of the mostly useless MFTs will be released too (I'd keep Solo and never would've hired any of the others in the first place).
-
WWE releases today: Uncle Howdy Nikki Cross Joe Gacy Zoey Stark Alba Fyre Andre Chase And probably more to come...
-
Sad news. I liked him. His career highlight is probably a super fun match with Cactus Jack at Clash of the Champions.
-
I don't see that happening, for a couple of reasons: 1. Vince McMahon was clearly never really a Steamboat fan - at least not to the same degree. 2. Vince Russo definitely wouldn't have been. "Learn how to cut a promo, bro." "Turn heel, bro, because swerve, bro." "Join The Oddities, bro."
-
I could see Ricky Steamboat, at best, in the Rick Martel spot with the TV Title against guys like Booker T. Which, honestly, not the worst use of Steamboat in the world. But that's as optimistic as I get when it comes to how I think WCW would've used Steamboat.
-
I'm four months late in responding to this, but I'd argue that Steamboat got out at the right time. I have zero faith that he would've been used properly in the Nitro era. Bobby Eaton was reduced to literal jobber status. Maybe Steamboat wouldn't have fallen that far, but I don't see him being used well either.
-
This is awesome. This is not. From arguably the breakout star of the documentary to this garbage, it's been a sad slide from Hollywood Haley J. If you said when this first aired that Cash Flo would be the biggest star to come out of it, no one would have believed you. At best, I figured he'd get semi-regular role on AEW Dark or TNA and Haley J would end up in WWE or AEW. Instead, he's on a show with Sly and she's fulfilling Dana White's wife beater fantasies.

In all seriousness, I wonder if that's because of his bipolar disorder.

I don't see Brock losing at WrestleMania, sadly, especially with Oba getting the upper hand now. They'll think that's enough. It isn't.

CallIing it now - IF Ronda vs. Toni happens, Gina Carano interferes.
