@Blehschmidt I finished the Wolfie D book. I see what you mean now. The last few chapters are definitely more humble and reflective. A couple of questions: Do you have any idea which Disciples of Synn member he had heat with and refused to name? Google isn't really any help. Do you know if he and Jamie Dundee ever patched things up? Bill Dundee seems like a massive head case, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Kid me was surprised to find out Regal's stubby little butler was the same legendary dude I read about in the magazines.

Wolfie definitely acknowledged his fuck-ups, but every match was the best match, every storyline was the best storyline, every territory was popped by PG-13's presence, every veteran was impressed by them, etc. I'm sure there was a lot of cool stuff and it's okay to be proud of your work, but when Barry Darsow is less braggadocios despite having every reason to be, you might want to tone it down a little, Wolfie, ya know? Again, reading the Darsow book right before might be affecting my perception of Wolfie. Either way, this is still a super fun read with tons of crazy stories.

I'm reading this now. I agree it's a lot of fun. However, Wolfie is clearly his own biggest fan, which can become utterly exhausting to read after a while. It reminds me of Vince Russo in a way. Maybe I'm unfairly comparing this to the Barry Darsow book I just finished, but Darsow comes across as much more humble despite being a much bigger star and better wrestler.

I won't defend the political aspect, but I can see valid reasons for Chelsea wanting to keep her job in WWE vs. grinding in the indies. It's different for a woman. She probably doesn't want to have to deal with sweaty incel indie promoters who are shady AF (in a best case scenario) and risk injury against inexperienced wrestlers.

I feel like I'm the only one who disliked "The Raid." Yes, balls-to-the-wall action, but it became "too much of a good thing" and I actually got bored. I'll eventually revisit it though, and if I like it more the second time around, I'll watch the sequel. I've gone ahead and added "Gangs of London" to my watchlist though. Since this is a wrestling board, I may as well point out that "Night Patrol" and "Dolly" both have wrestlers in the cast (Phil "CM Punk" Brooks and Max "The Impaler" Lindsey, respectively). I have not seen either of them yet, so I'm not necessarily vouching for them or anything. I'm very excited that "Tales from the Crypt" is available again on AMC+/Shudder for the first time in decades. I grew up watching that.

I read that a while back and liked it. I remember Vince coming up with a gimmick for Hornwoggle, Swoggle not being able to make it perfect on the spot, and Vince immediately losing interest. He must've been a nightmare to work for.

I won't defend the ugly display of obscene wealth from everyone at the MET Gala and the Gala itself, but that was not Dwayne's watch or even Dwayne's clothes. All of that ugly ostentatious bullshit is loaned to them by fashion designers and fashion companies promoting themselves. Because it was yet another forced "epic" with Seth cosplaying as Triple H. It's amazing to me that Danhausen is more of a starhausen after two seconds in WWEhausen than he everhausen was in AEWhausen. AEWhausen does a lot of things wellhausen, but this is one of their biggest drawbackhausens.

Just out of curiosity, what is your perception of who Mauro enjoys and who I don't enjoy? Always interesting to see how accurate it is to the reality (at least in my case - neither of us can exactly read Mauro's mind to know for sure what he likes and doesn't like).

I don't remember this. But I won't deny it either. Even though you're joking, this makes me wonder which wrestlers Mauro truly favors. 100% I really hope Creed tells them to fuck off and suffer the consequences for their shortsighted bullshit. Yes, pun very much intended.

Booker T: "All these years, do you remember one Aleister Black match?" Ouch! And the answer is no. I'm sure someone will cite his wildly overrated NXT work though. The Miz? Not like AEW would take him - even though they should, because he's a better worker in the ring and on the mic than 90% of the wrestlers there.

1. Being a "good worker" is overrated. 2. Most of the "good workers" in AEW are wildly overrated as such. New Day is about as no-brainer a signing as it gets for AEW. I will agree with the the part about the backstage comedy though. While I liked it more than you did, that's not really in AEW's DNA. However, Kofi and Woods proved they could be effective serious characters when they turned on Big E. It's not their fault the "genius booker" didn't follow up on it. Not like they're alone in that either. See: Cena, John. No one seems too concerned about what their new names will be. I think Kofi (his real name) and Creed (Woods' trademarked name) rolls off the tongue nicely as a team name.

I'll admit to not understanding some of you. Kofi and Woods are exactly the kind of ex-WWE wrestlers AEW should be hiring. They're still reasonably over (being cooled off by one of the worst bookers ever isn't an indictment against them), AEW wrestlers want to work with them, and there are several cool matches that could happen. Plus, unlike Black, who never accomplished anything or drew a dime anywhere, New Day has actual credentials and they won't "big league" everyone else and look down on AEW. The heel turn was amazing, which I credit entirely to the performances of Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E. But as usual in "The Paul Levesque Era," there was no follow-up. The "genius booker" fumbled the ball, as he always does.
