PWO poster "rovert" has apparently passed away (can anyone confirm?)
C.S. replied to C.S.'s topic in Pro Wrestling
I feel like that never really happened on PWO, or it happened before I joined. Is (was?) this forum simply more well moderated? -
I found out from a Reddit thread, which I won't link to here, because the comments are...not nice. This is apparently his obit: https://rip.ie/death-notice/trevor-woodhouse-dublin-clondalkin-639725 I just checked rovert's PWO profile, and he hasn't posted here since 2023. I won't pretend I was close with him or anything like that, but I'm sure we had occasional interactions in threads. R.I.P. and my condolences to anyone here who was friendly with rovert.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations

I still have KU for a little while longer, so I started reading Chaz "Mosh" Warrington's book, Beneath the Skirt. I appreciate that it gets right into his wrestling career. No boring bullshit about his childhood. Some of his ribs are downright infantile, and his toxic fatphobia and open disdain for some of his "toothless" fans in the Southern territories (even when they were paying for his apartment) are massive turnoffs IMO. I get that a large part of this is "wrestling culture" and it was glorified for so long, but...yuck! Chaz seems like kind of an asshole, but the honest truth is, this has always been par for the course with wrestlers and wrestling biographies. It's my tolerance that has changed for the "boys will be boys" arrested development of the wrestling industry at large and the staggering stupidity of these overgrown children who never had to grow up and are still stuck in high school mentally. Road Dogg's recent temper tantrum on Twitter over not being hired by AEW is a perfect example of what I mean. What a dumb, dumb fuck. (Ditto for the Arik Cannon "RUHSPECT DUH BIDNESS" public Twitter tantrum because AJ Styles' son refused to be used as free slave labor by building the ring or setting up chairs, or whatever the fuck it was, when he was brought in and paid to wrestle - nothing else. Hire a professional ring crew or don't run shows, period. I have zero respect for bitter bitch indie lifers like Cannon who run to social media and start crying like little children instead of handling their grievances privately like a fully functioning adult would.) -
Vince Russo, is that you, bro?

Oddly worked match, with Trick and Lil' Bitchy cast as the heels and Corbin as the face - even though that's certainly not how the fans perceive them.

"This is a much different Baron Corbin." Seems like the exact same dude to me. 🤷‍♂️

This is already better than Night 1.

Yep, this board really is dead... Guy doesn't watch the show, comments anyway, tells us something we all already know, adds nothing of substance. Thanks, "Duke."

@Blehschmidt I finished the Wolfie D book. I see what you mean now. The last few chapters are definitely more humble and reflective. A couple of questions: Do you have any idea which Disciples of Synn member he had heat with and refused to name? Google isn't really any help. Do you know if he and Jamie Dundee ever patched things up? Bill Dundee seems like a massive head case, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Kid me was surprised to find out Regal's stubby little butler was the same legendary dude I read about in the magazines. -

Wolfie definitely acknowledged his fuck-ups, but every match was the best match, every storyline was the best storyline, every territory was popped by PG-13's presence, every veteran was impressed by them, etc. I'm sure there was a lot of cool stuff and it's okay to be proud of your work, but when Barry Darsow is less braggadocios despite having every reason to be, you might want to tone it down a little, Wolfie, ya know? Again, reading the Darsow book right before might be affecting my perception of Wolfie. Either way, this is still a super fun read with tons of crazy stories. -

I'm reading this now. I agree it's a lot of fun. However, Wolfie is clearly his own biggest fan, which can become utterly exhausting to read after a while. It reminds me of Vince Russo in a way. Maybe I'm unfairly comparing this to the Barry Darsow book I just finished, but Darsow comes across as much more humble despite being a much bigger star and better wrestler. -

I'm reading this now, finally. It's great! -
Grande vs. Grande was amazing. Clash in Italy sucks. Brock should've lost all three, like Seth did to Cody. Better yet, he should've fucked off after the first one. đź’Ż

They're all too fucking dumb to realize she's doing it.

I like Solo, but he's X-Pac leading X-Factor.

I won't defend the political aspect, but I can see valid reasons for Chelsea wanting to keep her job in WWE vs. grinding in the indies. It's different for a woman. She probably doesn't want to have to deal with sweaty incel indie promoters who are shady AF (in a best case scenario) and risk injury against inexperienced wrestlers.

I feel like I'm the only one who disliked "The Raid." Yes, balls-to-the-wall action, but it became "too much of a good thing" and I actually got bored. I'll eventually revisit it though, and if I like it more the second time around, I'll watch the sequel. I've gone ahead and added "Gangs of London" to my watchlist though. Since this is a wrestling board, I may as well point out that "Night Patrol" and "Dolly" both have wrestlers in the cast (Phil "CM Punk" Brooks and Max "The Impaler" Lindsey, respectively). I have not seen either of them yet, so I'm not necessarily vouching for them or anything. I'm very excited that "Tales from the Crypt" is available again on AMC+/Shudder for the first time in decades. I grew up watching that.

I did this deal, but not because of the DOA Tits 'n Ass, which is the drizzling shits run by a cuck and booked by morons. Lots of other good stuff on the service though.

Not sure, but I remember criticizing OLDE Anderson for being out of touch on WC years ago and people coming to his defense.

I read that a while back and liked it. I remember Vince coming up with a gimmick for Hornwoggle, Swoggle not being able to make it perfect on the spot, and Vince immediately losing interest. He must've been a nightmare to work for. -
I won't defend the ugly display of obscene wealth from everyone at the MET Gala and the Gala itself, but that was not Dwayne's watch or even Dwayne's clothes. All of that ugly ostentatious bullshit is loaned to them by fashion designers and fashion companies promoting themselves. Dwayne, and everyone else, had to give everything back after the Gala was over.

This lost me when Cena said the idiot ham 'n egger fans could vote for the loser to win. Like, what?!
