  4. I have gotten watching more of El Satanico over the past few weeks after finding out about his retirement which has been great. He wasnt someone I considered (havent watched alot of historical lucha), I have seen alot more after starting research for GWE/GME helped inspired me a lot. He might be leaning to being in the top 20 for me, if I had more time to watch more of his stuff I could see him go even higher in my watch through, he always does something that connects with me in a match even even if I don't fully connect to the match even at age 70+
  5. A really interesting wrestler, basically built up to be a top guy in DDT suceed at age 16 (Debuted vs. El Generico at Peter Pan) and mostly succeeded at that was pretty consistently very good. In 2022, he had one of the best years and working well on the US indies, I have ever seen a wrestler with leaning more action packed sprints including vs. Adam Brookes in DPW and his best match maybe best match in DDT history vs. Kazusada Higuchi at Whose Gonna Top. I thinking last year, he had some odd dips like the Zack Sabre Jr matches that didnt click with me (still ranked him top 14 in the world). His PWG work specifically vs. Daniel Garcia at Nineteen and at BOLA 2023 were great. Posted this after seeing him Revolution face Jon Moxley last Sunday. "Not sure if he'll make my list but, Konosuke Takeshita might be one of the best live wrestlers I have seen (different than best wrestler I have seen live if that makes sense). I've seen him wrestle live 9 times (11 times if you counting BOLA tornament matches). He also might be the most consistently great match haver I have seen too. He is so great really at projecting that he is wrestling for or against everybody in the arena which is really impressive in big arenas on tv/ppv. There's many wrestling who are great (and even have great matches) but, feel like they are wrestling for the outside the arena audience." Some Free Random Konosuke Takeshita Recommends 2/15/15 Happy Motel (Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo) vs. Strong BJ (Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi) - DDT Saitama Super DDT 2015 https://vimeo.com/120509960 3/21/19 Konosuke Takeshita, Akito & Yuki Iino vs. Meiko Satomura, DASH Chisako & Chihiro Hashimoto - DDT Into The Fight AEW has some his matches up on YouTube with Japanese Commentary. https://youtube.com/@aewjp?si=cnT7E3XCCD4_tATq

    Athena

Talked to someone on the server. Athena being very good to great but, very intermittent hurts her case some but, she has been consistent over the last few years. She might rank in the 90s with Chuck Taylor and Mitsuhiro Matsunaga for me. I haven't much of it but, she might have interesting to look into her with her AIW and regional indie stuff. Her WSU match with LuFisto in 2014 is great from what I remember.
  11. PAC is a interesting because has been great for almost 15 years but, due to stuff stopping him, he feels intermittent. He feels for sure top 100 but, not sure where to place him. A great highflyer and impactful high flyer. He was very showy but, his moves felt like they had a bit more sting compared to others. He also has a sneaky amount of range. His face work feels like he comes of as someone who never turn heel or brooding. But, he does it and it works. He wrestled territory invader in Dragon Gate and tour helpinfg lifts people up (Cara Noir in the RIPTIDE match). He is also great base (the Will Ospreay match All Out match) and now since his return has leaned into being a good power guy. One of the first independent matches I saw was a PAC match.
  12. I don't know much about Buffalo but, remember he had a really good and hyped match against Daisuke. He seems like a fun guy to look into
  13. I think it was was originally Andre The Giant Panda in N2W (comedy tribute wrestlers promotion) but, I think it changed to Andreza Giant Panda as the character gained notoriety, I think to avoid weird stuff with parody. Andreza Gaint Panda think was originally an Andre The Giant tribute/parody facing a parody Hulk Hogan and Stan Kobayashi (Abdullah Kobayashi doing a Stan Hansen gimmick). It eventually moved to its own thing with the only major obvious is headbutts and using the Andre The Giant theme song.

  16. Feels like a better Kurt Angle in a way and I really like Kurt Angle. Proabably making my list but, not sure where he'll rank though probably with Munenori Sawa as my favorite shoot style wrestler. Really cool video essay on him.
  17. He gets somewhat often talked about in Twitter and a Discord I'm in. Considering Nick Bockwinkel feels like a slight maybe in making my list. Interested in checking out more of his work, I think I am were he is very good wrestler who should get votes amd I'm happy will get votes but, doesn't click on that to make him a lock. It could be stylistic preference though too. My favorite Nick Bockwinkel match is 10/6/73 Billy Robinson & Red Bastien vs. Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens, really like how animated both is especially in the studio setting. Like the pre-match promo and post match. Before GME/GWE watching a year ago, I would proabably say this is my favorite pre-80s match ever. It's not that high anymore but, it's still made my GWE list and makes me smile everytime I watch it. Matt D did a really interesting write up and match rec guide about Nick Bockwinkel for Wresrlling Playlists season of giving. https://wrestlingplaylists.substack.com/p/season-of-giving-the-case-against
  18. Has pop out charisma, a super charming and loud wrestler. Super fun wrestler. Really liked his charging before running.
  19. Someone who I am enjoying and might consider. Really charismatic and athletic, going to try to look more into his work. 12/15/95 Hector Garza vs. El Satanico - Hair vs. Hair 5/6/05 Dr. Wagner Jr., LA Par-K & Mistico vs. La Furia del Norte (Hector Garza, Perro Aguayo Jr. & Tarzan Boy) 3/21/08 Perro Aguayo Jr. vs. Hector Garza - CMLL Homenaje A Dos Leyendas (Hair vs. Hair) Part 2 - Part 3 -
  20. I've really enjoyed what I've seen from him so far, he matches have such aura and big match feeling surrounding them (it's not the closest I can think of is Dump Matsumoto) especially vs. Mistico. He walks the line of being the playing to his his fans but, also selling and bumping so the technicos get over too. Interested to see where he goes on my list. 5/6/05 Dr. Wagner Jr., LA Par-K & Mistico vs. La Furia del Norte (Hector Garza, Perro Aguayo Jr. & Tarzan Boy) 5/13/05 Mistico vs. Perro Aguayo Jr. 8/25/06 Perro Aguayo Jr. vs. El Hijo del Santo (Might be my favorite El Hijo de Santo singles ever) 8/3/07 Blue Panther, Mistico & Negro Casas vs. Los Perros del Mal (Hector Garza, Lizmark Jr. & Perro Aguayo Jr.) 3/21/08 Perro Aguayo Jr. vs. Hector Garza - Homenaje A Dos Leyendas (Hair vs. Hair) Part 2 - https://youtu.be/eh9H6rNqJt4?si=NuLYSuxC_iSmalPr Part 3 - https://youtu.be/kRp8tJwj_D4?si=ykYqLYfcAf421dRy 2/18/15 Myzteziz (Mistico) vs. Perro Aguayo Jr.
  21. Making my list not sure where yet, proabably my favorite of the graplle and struggle style. Excellent in short matches. I think it says about how engaging of wrestler him (and Giant Baba) are that despite being in a match thats clipped, has glitchy footage, and no sound he's still really engaging. He has two matches that made my GME list, in two very different settings playing different characters. 8/28/76 Jack Brisco vs. Jumbo Tsuruta - 2 out of 3 Falls in AJPW at #97 7/7/82 Jack Brisco vs. Roddy Piper in Mid Atlantic Wrestling in a studio at #81 Also a really cool match yesterday I watched under 5 minutes against Brad Armstrong in 1984. I did a preference revealer and had Jack was below Kenny Omega and above Tomohiro Ishii. Not sure if I agree with that but, comparing Jack Brisco to Kenny Omega and other (especially modern) wrestlers is interesting. Jack Brisco vs. Zack Sabre Jr or CM Punk seems interesting too.
  22. He is another wrestler I'm considering. He is a wrestler I'm proabably going to look more into him. From what I've seen, I love colorful shorts/Kensuke Office/Katsuhiko Nakajima's dad/post-2004 Kensuke Sasaki. The Kobashi matches rule (The Burning vs. Kensuke Office gauntlet tag especially and NOAH Destiny matches specifically ). He might also be the best straightman and breaking to laugh comedy wrestler I have ever seen (his Florida Brothers/Express stuff is great and really like Ebessan, Kensuke Sasaki & Kuishinbo Kamen vs. Kanjyouro Matsuyama, Kikutaro & Takoyakida). I'm not sure how to feel about black trunks/4th Musketeer Kensuke Sasaki. He feels like he'll make my list.
  23. For context - Before starting this project a year ago, I didn't have not seen alot of Kawada's work (I think I have maybe seen less than 10 of his matches before). My takes on him are based on sampling (18 matches so far, I usually aim to watch 20/25 matches before ranking someone) and not comprehensive. Kawada is a wrestler I'm unsure about, I think he might make my list. He is a wrestler who when he clicks with me, he really clicks but, feels alot of times doesn't yet. I really like him in matches where gets to wrestle out of his comfort zone. His match vs. Don Frye (10/26/03) is amazing! He is in my favorite AJPW singles match of all time with, 1/15/91 Akira Taue vs. Toshiaki Kawada (that I think got recommended for the first time here). Not sure if he'll make my list yet

    Steve Grey

My favorite of the World Of Sport and someone who is good gateway to rounds based wrestling, has some good stuff post-World of Sport too. Someone who will make my list. Watching his stuff in order helped me alot too. He has really good range for a World of Sport wrestler too with having matches he is the underdog, facing an overdog, and matches where he is teaming with Big Daddy Shirley Crabtree. https://www.itvwrestling.co.uk/index.html I think being so World of Sport based kind slightly limits him when comparing him to other wrestlers with more range and getting to do more. The lack of being able to brawl, how often rounds matches in just a rounds kind of limits, and storylines what a wrestler can do for me. Right now he is ranked 40 out of 51 wrestlers I have ranked (below John Morison/Johnny TV and Tomohiro Ishii). Here's some Steve Grey I recommend 1/5/74 (Maybe Taped 1/13/73) Jon Cortez vs. Steve Grey 5/21/77 Mick McManus vs. Steve Grey 11/19/77 Mel Sansers vs. Steve Grey 2/12/78 Billy Torontos vs. Steve Grey 3/31/79 Steve Grey vs. Ken Joyce Starts in R2 4/16/79 Bobby Barnes vs. Kid Chocolate vs. Steve Grey vs.Lucky Gordon vs. Chris Adams vs. John England 11/16/85 Big Daddy & Steve Grey vs. Scrubber Daly & Lucky Gordon 10/24/87 Kid McCoy vs. Steve Grey 5/3/88 Steve Grey vs. Mike Jordan 2/14/98 Steve Grey vs. Masakazu Fukuda, EWA St. Valentine's Day Massacre 9/30/06 Steve Grey vs. Steve Quintain, WAW (Steve Grey wrestles heel) 2/17/07 Jon Richie vs. Steve Grey, LDN Capital TV Taping 5/27/10 Steve Grey vs. Mal Sanders, LDN https://youtu.be/1RJUN-lSZ7Q?si=G_9QvrOVkwbolm20
