NJPW Selects: Masa Kitamiya WWE time

The 1st one was done in Houston between Dusty Rhodes & Ivan Koloff in the late 70's or so.
-
We must, because they don't do TV like the American companies. They don't do backstage skits and such.
-
I plan on having the 3 finals and probably 5 to 6 other matches for the Omni show. After that, we will go on tour and start our house shows. The only commentary will be from the TBS studios.

One good thing about NJPW is that they don't have shows like that. It's all about Wrestling.

JAN 12TH WTBS Studios ANNOUCER: Gordon Solie REFEREES: Nick Patrick & Scrappy McGowen Solie: With the 1st round over and the DDQ in the Dibiase/Superstar match, he will have one less match in the Semi- Finals. This will allow "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff to advance to the Finals by default. This means that the Paul Orndorff vs. "Hacksaw" Butch Reed match will now have a 30 minute time limit. We have also learned the Jake Roberts might've suffered a neck injury heading into the big Omni card on Feb 2nd. Commercial break. "Hacksaw" Butch Reed vs. Paul Orndorff Solie: Referee Patrick is already in the ring as Paul Orndorff climbs through the ropes. Out next is "Hacksaw" Butch Reed, who is walking along ringside slapping hands with the fans. Both men appear to be ready as Patrick calls for the bell. Both men are being extra careful and not get to close to the other before they are ready. Chants of "Go Reed Go" and "Go Paul Go", echo throughout the studio. The finally lock up with a test of strength and after several minutes of it being back and forth, Reed comes out with the advantage. Reed transfer's this into a hip toss and then a side headlock on the mat. Reed is grinding away at the head & Neck of Orndorff, until Orndorff breaks free with a head scissors. Orndorff is in control for a couple of minutes, until it's Reed getting out of the hold and both wrestlers simultaneously. Both wrestlers again start to circle one another like sharks in the water, looking for that advantage. They both lock-up again and trade holds until Orndorff takes control and whips Reed into the ropes. Orndorff ducks, but Reed leap frogs Orndorff and bounces off and hits a flying tackle to the torso of Orndorff. Reed then starts to deliver knees and elbows into the upper torso and head of his opponent. Reed uses various slams and stretches to further injure the torso of Orndorff. Orndorff has slowed down to a crawl as Reed looks out to the crowd with a very confident look on his face. Finally after around 18 minutes in the match, there is someone in firm control of the contest. Reed tries to put his foe away with a side suplex, but only gets a 2 count from Referee Patrick. Reed then grabs Orndorff's legs and tries to turn him over into a Boston Crab. Orndorff is fighting for all he's got and with one last ditch effort, is able to wiggle free and grab the ropes. Reed lets go, but then delivers a knee into the back of Orndorff who falls outside the rings. Patrick starts to count and get to 7, 8, 9 and Orndorff makes it back into the ring. Orndorff is hurt and Reed looks disappointed, hoping to win the match by count out. Reed continues to punish the back of Orndorff, getting only 2 counts, much to the dismay of Reed. Reed then picks Orndorff up for a suplex, but Orndorff slips through for a small package and gets a 2 count of his own. The crowd are really into things as Orndorff is trying to make a comeback. Orndorff stands up and sets Reed up for a piledriver and as he is picking Reed up, his back gives out and Orndorff falls down to the mat. Reed gets to his feet as Orndorff is flat on his stomach and stands over Paul and grabs Paul's arms and squats down to apply a camel clutch of all things. Reed isn't known as a submission specialist by any means, but has the move cinched in tight, pulling on Orndorff's neck and starts to really yank back. Orndorff's arms are limp and Patrick lifts Orndorff's left arm up once, twice with no response. Patrick lifts his arm for a 3rd and final time, and again no response. Patrick calls for the bell and the match is over. Reed releases the hold and has his arm raise in victory. WINNER via submission in 27:46, "Hacksaw" Butch Reed Commercial break Solie: We have our first final match-up with "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff going against "Hacksaw" Butch Reed in the finals for the vacant National Heavyweight Championship to be decided at the Omni on February 2nd

JAN 12TH, WTBS Studios. ANNOUNCER: Gordon Solie: REFEREE'S: Nick Patrick & Scrappy McGowen SOLIE: Welcome to the National Heavyweight Championship Tournament for the Superstars of the Superstation. The rules are the following. 1 fall, 20 minute time limit Count Out is once it hits 10 Here are the first round matches using a random draw: Buzz Sawyer vs. Paul Orndorff Tito Santana vs. "Hacksaw" Butch Reed Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Ivan Koloff Ted Dibiase vs. Masked Superstar Commercial break: Buzz Sawyer vs. Paul Orndorff Solie: The crowd is jeering Buzz Sawyer as he is being combative already to the fans sitting at ringside. Paul Orndorff on the other hand, is egging the fans to get on Sawyer's case even louder. Referee Patrick calls for the bell and both competitors are being careful before locking up. Both wrestlers are looking at each other very closely, trying to seek an opening. Sawyer starts to get annoyed by the fans yelling at him and he takes a powder outside the ring. Nick Patrick starts to count and Sawyer rolls back into the ring at the count of 7 and he is surprised by Orndorff, who nails him with a few kicks for good measure. Sawyer gets up and runs to the far corner complaining to Patrick. After another few minutes of stalling by Sawyer, he decides to lock up with Orndorff, who frustrates the former Florida High School Champion on the mat. Orndorff is dominating Sawyer with using the same amateur moves that Sawyer likes to use. Sawyer has no answer for Orndorff until he can finally roll out of the rings once again. Commercial break: Solie: We come back to the action with Orndorff completely shutting Sawyer down with headlocks, armbars and hip tosses. Orndorff whips Sawyer into the corner and charges to find not Sawyer, but the turnbuckles instead. Sawyer sees his opening and starts to assault Orndorff with various kicks, elbows and forearms to the head and back. Sawyer picks Orndorff up for a powerful vertical suplex and goes for the cover, but only gets a 2 count. Saywer continues to wear down Orndorff's back with various slams and suplexes, hoping to soften Orndorff up. Sawyer then picks Orndorff off the mat and gives him an Irish whip into the ropes and sends a knee so hard into Orndorff that he falls through the ropes to the outside. Sawyer follows Orndorff to the floor, but Paul catches Sawyer with a forearm to the gut. This doesn't stop Sawyer as he continues his barrage of Orndorff as Patrick is continuing his count. Sawyer whips Orndorff into the ring post and charges after him, but Orndorff falls down from the force of the whip into the post. Both men are down as Patrick is up to 6, 7, 8 and Orndorff is the one to his feet and rolls back into the ring as Patrick continues to 9 and then 10 and calls for the bell. Sawyer has been counted out of the ring. Patrick raises Orndorff's arm in victory! WINNER via count-out in 16:29, Paul Orndorff! Commercial break: Tito Santana vs. "Hacksaw" Butch Reed Solie: Our next match is up in the ring pitting Tito Santana against Butch Reed. Both wrestlers shake hands as referee McGowen calls for the bell. Neither man can get an advantage as these men know each other well and are able to counter what the other is trying to do. After 8 minutes, it's Santana with the armbar on Reed. It appears Tito is trying to negate the strength advantage of Reed by working on his dominant arm. After various arm locks and bars, Reed is able to free himself after a knee to the stomach. Reed bounces off the ropes and delivers a flying tackle to the stunned Santana. Reed is now in control and after about 3 more minutes, Reed picks Tito up for a back breaker and climbs through the ropes and heads to the top. Santana is wobbly and Reed waits, perched on the top. Santana turns around and Reed jumps and hits Tito with a powerful flying tackle and hooks the leg as McGowen counts to 3. WINNER via pin fall in 12:47, "Hacksaw" Butch Reed. Commercial break. Jake Roberts vs. Ivan Koloff Solie: As we come back from commercial, Koloff is already on the attack, beating Roberts from pillar to post. Referee Patrick is trying to get Koloff off of Roberts to no avail. One of Koloff's teammates, Chris Markoff, is at ringside and gets the attention of Patrick. Koloff sees an opening and hits Roberts with his chain and rolls it to the outside. Hearing the thud, Patrick turns around and see a prone Roberts as Koloff bounces off the ropes to nail "The Snake" with a knee drop to the throat and covers Roberts for the pin fall. WINNER via pin fall in 3:19, Ivan Koloff Commercial break. Ted Dibiase vs. Masked Superstar Solie: Even though both wrestlers are disliked by the fans, the crowd seems to be getting behind Dibiase. At one time, Dibiase was once the 2nd most popular wrestler behind Tommy Rich, but he has been a rulebreaker for the past 3 years after turning on Rich and driving him from the area after winning a Loser Leaves Town match. The bell rings and both wrestlers are pulling out every dirty trick in their arsenal and referee McGowen is starting to get annoyed. This match is basically a brawl at this point and McGowen is having a very difficult time getting control. Both Dibiase and the Superstar are in the far corner trying to choke the life out on one another. McGowen is counting for the break but neither man is listening. McGowen then decides to signal for the bell and throws the match out. This will throw a wrinkle in the brackets. RESULT: DDQ in 5:02

Happy with my current roster ( only missed out on 2-3 wrestlers). NJPW will focus a lot on Tag Teams (unlike Gedo) and we will have no Jr. division. Everyone will be under one weight class.
