Those are two really big nights of wrestling. You are going to make lots of happy fans. You have a very deep tag division that has a little bit of everything for everybody which is a great thing as the matches will all be different rather than a carbon copy of the first one.

I gotta tell you, I would not want to be security and have to step between Bad News Brown and Carlos Colon when they are slugging it out around the ring. Was never a fan of Austin Idol. To me, he never seemed to know who he wanted to be ... too much of a mix of the Boogie Woogie Man, a dose of Ric Flair and the top guys of Memphis who all did it better than him. On top of that, his terrible hair. Count me in for Camp Zbyszko, who no matter what with that dry delivery was always a hoot to listen to. Larry Land is open for business! With all your talent up and down your roster and showcased on TV, Johnny Rich and Dream Machine is really an opening act. Sad as that is because it would really sell in the South and be an upper mid-card match-up, but unless there are others involved as you have it, they are curtain jerkers here and probably not needing some kind of story to tell as that takes away from some of your guys who could use that extra time or would want to be seen by the adoring fans. That's not a statement good or bad on your part, it is just a testament to massively strong roster you have been able to amass.

Fixed it.

International Pro Wrestling 4-1-1988 Conway High School Conway, Arkansas Home of the Wampus Cats A Saturday evening show as IPW comes to a town near you, bringing the best in wrestling action! Hosts Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to the show, promising exciting wrestling action! Match #1 The American versus the Enforcer. Pair of masked men but the red, white and blue Avenger is able to roll up The Enforcer. Match #2 Jamie Dundee, Bruno Spazzinsky and Mountain Lou versus the Arkansas Terrors and The Ninja w/Dark Journey. 6-man action with Bruno taking a licking before Lou has The Ninja launched at him by his cohorts. Dundee fights for the comeback which is cut short when the Terrors superkick him and Big Lou. Lou is pinned and Dundee and Spazzinsky brawl all the way to the back against the Terrors. Match # 3 The New Guinea Headhunter w/Tojo Yamamoto versus Johnny Weiss. Kind of a one-sided match before the Headhunter finally applies his Nerve Grip and putting Weiss to sleep. Big to do after the match when the referee wants the Headhunter to revive his opponent.. The Headhunter refuses to do so but Tojo agrees to with a shot across the back with the kendo stick. Intermission. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice talk to Arkansas native Bill Ash who shows off his belt. Ash pays his opponent a compliment of sorts saying he comes from a solid family with a father that was one of the Assassins. Prentice comments on Ash paying Tim Renesto a compliment which is quickly waved off ... he said good but meant he is nowhere near the wrestling class and prowess of himself Match #4 Bill Ash (C) versus Tim Renesto. The speedy Renesto comes out fired up and takes it to Ash. They go back and forth trying to regain control but Ash finally catches him and drops him with the Arkansas Whiplash, Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice thank everyone for sharing their Saturday with them and that IPW will return to Conway!

Pre-taping Match Pat Rose pins The Ninja. International Pro Wrestling Excited Voiceover: You are watching International Pro Wrestling from the KAIT Channel 8 television studios! Wrestling action whizzes by quickly over music, showing the stars of International Pro Wresting. Drop kick here, monkey flip there, big swinging neck breaker there. When the music comes to a stop, the camera pans the studio and the loud studio audience ready for some wrestling action! Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to International Pro Wrestling's exciting "Power Half Hour"! Buddy Lee and Bert discuss last night's matches at the ASU Armory in Jonesboro and Bill Ash walking away with the IPW Title after defeating Pat Rose. An angry Bert Prentice talks about someone, anyone going to the Arkansas State Athletic Commission and complaining about the use of a foreign object to win the match and the title. Our hosts are joined by Pat Rose. After congratulating on his win at the top of the program they talk about his loss to Ash. Rose chuckles as he rubs the side of his face and says he's still feeling whatever Bill Ash hit him with. What's been done is done, so it is time to move forward and look at a rematch with Ash for that title ... Not so fast ... Bill Ash comes out and can not believe what he's hearing. He beat Pat Rose less that 24 hours ago to become the IPW Champion and now Pat Rose is calling foul and demanding a rematch? That's not the way things work ... Rose asks if Ash is afraid to face him again? Ash quickly cuts him off and says that he's a fighting champion ... Bert Prentice wants to know why a so called "fighting champion" would deny Pat Rose a rematch? Things get a little testy as Ash tells Bert that if he shut his mouth, he'd explained to him so that even the hillbilly that Bert Prentice is could understand it. The boos and Ash tells them to shut up as well. Ash says he doesn't owe Pat Rose anything. He lost and now it is time to move to the end of the line and give someone else a shot at the gold. Bert says that is it customary to give a rematch but Bill Ash corrects him and says that might be the case if Pat Rose was the former champion or was at the very least the #1 Contender but we all know that isn't the case ... Getting crowded in here as Rip Tyler comes out to join the foursome. Bert Prentice wants Rip to put Bill Ash in his place and make him defend against Pat Rose. Rip very quickly gains control of the situation, getting everyone to stop speaking. Now ... technically, Bill Ash is correct, He DOES NOT have to give Pat Rose a rematch BUT what he has to do is defend that title in the next 30 days and mark his words, one minute past that 30 day mark, if Mr. Ash has not defended that title, Rip Tyler will relieve him of that belt no ifs, ans or buts. Who is he required to defend that belt against? The #1 Contender. Right here, next week, he will announce just how we are going to determine who that is. He turns to Pat Rose and assures him that no matter how it is done, Pat Rose will be involved. Bill Ash starts to object but is quickly shut down. There won't be any funny business like there is in other places, he will see to that! Buddy Lee throws it to a commercial! x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x We go to the ring for our first match of the evening ... Match #1 Cody Michaels versus Mountain Lou Michaels shows his amateur wrestling prowess despite Lou's bigger frame. Tough going for the young man who eventually wears down his opponent and is able to get his shoulders down for the 1! 2! 3! After the match, Cody Michaels joins the dynamic duo and they talk about his match last night against Brian Knighton. He says they had been having very competitive matches all over Arkansas but the attack after the match surprised him. He'd like to think it was an off night and let bygones be bygones because he thinks Knighton is a good kid but if this is the way he wants things to be, Cody Michaels is more than happy to show him the error of his ways. After Michaels walks off, Bert Prentice reminds everyone ... TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! IPW returns to the Conway High School in Conway, Arkansas. Doors open at 6 and belltime is 7 sharp! The stars of International Pro Wrestling will all be in action! x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x We return to the program with Bert and Buddy having been joined by tag team members Reno Riggins and Dancing Wolf. They talk about the upcoming Crockett Cup and the million dollar prize for winning. Riggins says that is a lot of money but they really are in the tournament to represent IPW and the fans from Arkansas. That gets a cheer. Regardless, that is still a hefty payday. When the team of Tojo Yamamoto and the New Guinea Headhunter are also going to be involved, Riggins thinks that is icing on the cake if they can get another crack as beating Tojo and the Headhunter. Match #2 Non-title Match Bill Ash (C) versus Johnny Weiss. Non-title match up here but Ash puts the newcomer through his paces even toying with him at times. Pisses off the fans who are all too happy to let Ash hear their disapproval. He slaps Weiss around while talking to Pat Rose and telling him there is more of this just waiting for him. One Arkansas Whiplash ordered up and this one is over. Ash yanks his belt away from the referee and struts around the ring. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with a big thank you and a reminder to join us next week for more International Pro Wrestling action!

The matches at the Lakefront Arena are must see. Top notch card that has been well built towards. Before all the knowledge of Jake Roberts "habits", I was a huge fan. While he wasn't big and muscular or even very well built, he could strike with that DDT out of nowhere and end a match just like that. He didn't need the snake in a bag as a prop as he was the deadly serpent that could strike at any time. He was the deadly predator. You have captured that well here. The funny thing about DiBiase's shenanigans, he was such a good wrestler that he didn't even need to do any of that but I guess as the heel, he really needs to do something heelish and that fits the bill rather than just being the overly cocky/confident being. Stan Hansen showing up before the a big show is a treat. Will he make an appearance and/or play an important part in it?

From the Saturday morning edition of The Sun ... International Pro Wrestling 3-31-1988 ASU Armory Jonesboro, Arkansas News & Notes 1. Cody Michaels beat Brian Knighton again in the friendly match that saw fireworks afterwards when Knighton put the boots to Michaels after knocking him down with a short arm clothesline when they shook hands. 2. Dark Journey was one unhappy camper when her trio were thoroughly throttled by Jamie Dundee, Bruno Spazzinsky and Plowboy Frazier. 3. Tojo Yamamoto and the New Guinea Headhunter bloodied Reno Riggins as the two teams battled to a double disqualification. All four men brawled until the locker room cleared to pull them apart. 4. The main event saw Bill Ash square off against Pat Rose in the finals of the title tournament. This one went only 45 or so minutes after their 60 minute match a week and a half ago. Out of the view of the referee, Bill Ash clocked Rose with a roll of quarters and won the belt, albeit in a tainted match.

Not to highjack the thread but very nice. Favorite customized figure?

I have another pair for you ... Bob Cook from your '87 Draft isn't anywhere to be found and his cohort in crime that debuted in 1988, Penelope Paradise. Adding to the ladies, Debbie T. Wild.
-
Haven't been here long but it certainly has been a lot of fun.
-
Okay, I have a new one for you ... Ron Cadman otherwise known as Caveman Broda. He was busy in 84, then nothing until showing up in 88 for 1 match. He was a little busier in 89 before going wild in 91 until 2002 before slowing down again for matches here and there.
-
The enhancement workers names made me crack up. Was Teach in a pirate outfit? Jimmy Golden with a new title thanks to a comment. That is good stuff. IPW has made the big time with mention from one of the "Big Dogs".
-
I think Jerry gave son Jeff the wrong advice. It is probably wise to stay away from both Dutch and Shane when it comes to advice. I'm really like Memphis without Jerry Lawler. Dirty Dutch and Jeff Jarrett give it the air of familiarity while Dirty Dick Slater, Shane Douglas, Whatley, the Armstrongs and others give it enough star power and good rasslin' to help you forget about Jerry Lawler. This is good stuff.
-
I'll drop the claim on Raul Guzman because I only found a couple matches for him. Tony Divito wrestled into 89 that I could find. He was a Chicago area guy - lots of video here https://www.youtube.com/@ArmstrongAlley/videos under Chicago Championship Wrestling. Real name Vito Brancato - he wrote and produced the Chicago Championship Wrestling stuff. Started in 1983 and career lasted at least 9 years.
-
IPW adds: Johnny Weiss Prissie Purcell (Female) Raul Guzman Tony the Razor Divito (Not of ECW fame)
-
I am with you there. I couldn't stomach WWF when I lived up north. Wasn't until a move to Texas and Southwest Championship Wrestling that hooked me in.

Reading this back to back with WCW, what sticks out is the huge difference in roster between the two and how well both fit their territories. Lots of pieces here that might not fit in as well on the east coast or have as high a place on the food chain in say, WCW but all plug and play well together. You also have a little bit of everything from really good wrestling to a more hardcore style if needed. You also have one of my faves in the Cheetah Kid so you can't go wrong there.
-
Have to ask ... what came first? The figures or the roster? How many do you have? Triumph had a big show feel to it and an importance to the matches. Really good stuff. Next up ... the aftermath! I'm sure Dusty has something to spray ... err, I mean say to Dan Spivey. Would not want to be Dan Spivey right about now.

TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! International Pro Wrestling 3-25-1988 Pine Bluff Convention Center Pine Bluff, Arkansas Match #1 Cody Michaels versus Brian Knighton. First match for the two here in Pine Bluff with Michaels getting the nod once again. They shake hands afterwards. Match #2 Plowboy Frazier versus Mountain Lou. Battle of the big guys. Slower than the previous match, the veteran has enough mass to push Lou around to get the win. Plowboy invites the kids into the ring to celebrate the victory. Match #3 Ken Jugan versus Pat Rose. Rose coming off some big wins before getting his title match next Friday finds himself in against a very game Jugan. Giving everything he has is still not enough against a veteran like Rose. Intermission. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice talk to Rose following the match. Last time here, they talked to Bill Ash who promised to be the IPW Champion, now they talk to the man who is going to face Ash for the title. Rose talks about his hour long match against Bill Ash last week. He talks about Ash being a top notch wrestler but he's taking on a whole different creature in Pat Rose. He's put the time in the ring and in the gym, he believes he has what it takes to pin Bill Ash to the mat 1! 2! 3! Match #4 The Ninjas versus Dancing Wolf & Reno Riggins One of the top teams here in Arkansas does not fail to deliver, pinning both Ninjas to close it out. Tojo Yamamoto and the New Guinea Headhunter hit the ring and attack Reno and Wolf but are driven off following a short brawl. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with the promise that IPW will return to Pine Bluff! They sell the March 31st card next week Friday in Jonesboro at the ASU Armory!

Champagne Slam has shaped up nicely to be a HUGE card that should have something for everyone. Titles on the line, hot feuds, new debuts, literally something for everyone. The big one has to be Brown vs. Colon though I am looking forward to the Battle of the Cripplers. That should be a fun one. I am thinking Richard Charland is being served up on a plate to the Warrior.

Ohhh ... the Steiners opposite of each other in a tag title match. Now, that is interesting. This could go in so many different ways. Looking forward to that for sure. I'm thinking Luger and Reed in a Lumberjack match might be a better way to control the interference. Was there something missing from the JYD/Murdoch interview? It ends with an "and" then nothing before moving on to a commercial break. Inquiring minds want to know!

Pre-taping Match Heavyweight Title Tournament Match Pat Rose with the victory over the New Guinea Headhunter. Bert is excited as today, we begin the IPW Heavyweight Title Tournament. Pat Rose with an exciting win over the New Guinea Headhunter before we came on the air moves on to the finals and will face the winner of Bill Ash and Time Renesto that we will see later in the program. The two winners move on to the finals and will face each other in Jonesboro March 21st! Bert brings up the hour long match between Rose and Ash just the other night in Arkadelphia where they went to a 1 Hour Time Limit Draw but Pat Rose had Bill Ash in all kinds of trouble and had the match been just seconds longer, Pat Rose would have won. Buddy says this is a different night and a different match where anything can and probably will happen! Our hosts are joined by Jamie Dundee and another brutally skinny man. Jamie talks about his match today against the Arkansas Terror #1 and because taking on #1 also means he's got to deal with #2 and Dark Journey, he's brought along a little "company". He introduces his long time childhood friend, Bruno Spazzinsky who is here to watch his back. An animated Spazzinsky has to switch to decaf for sure, talking about today's match and a warning for Dark Journey to stay out of the match! Buddy Lee throws it to a commercial! x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x We go to the ring for our first match of the evening ... Match #1 Arkansas Terror #1 w/Dark Journey & Arkansas Terror #2 versus Jamie Dundee w/Bruno Spazzinsky. Jamie is up to the challenge and has an answer to everything thrown at him. Of course, Dark Journey serves as a distraction but the other Terror has remained on the outside. With #1 down, #2 acts and switches places while Jamie climbs the ropes and Dark Journey distracts the referee. This didn't go unnoticed ... SPAZZINSKY TO THE RESCUE! Charging into the ring, he drops an elbow on #2 and slides to the outside as Jamie comes flying off with the BOMBS AWAY! We get the fist drop and a three count! Jamie Dundee gets the win! After the match, Dundee and Spazz vacate the ring to celebrate on the outside. Inside the ring, Dark Journey grabs the referee and shakes him before she storms off and joins our hosts, A little back and forth between DJ and Prentice who thinks her men got exactly what they deserved! x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x We return to the program with Bert and Buddy discussing the match we just saw. Bert thinks Dark Journey got exactly what she deserved and when the referee was distracted by Dark Journey, Bruno Spazzinsky did exactly what he said he was going to do. Buddy Lee thinks this is far from over as Dark Journey does not seem like the kind of person to just let this go. Bert Prentice reminds everyone ... TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! IPW returns to the Pine Bluff Convention Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Doors open at 6 and bell time is 7 sharp! The stars of International Pro Wrestling will all be in action! Match #2 Heavyweight Title Tournament Match Tim Renesto versus Bill Ash The winner of the match moves on to the finals and faces Pat Rose for the IPW Heavyweight Title next Friday! Renesto lights up Ash and has him reeling in the very early going. Renesto is a ball of fire with Buddy Lee and Bert discussing his history as a second generation wrestler, his father, Tom Renesto Sr. who had much success as one of the Assassins. Bert talks in hushed whispers as to how feared Tom Renesto was before retiring. Calling for a time out draws the ire of the fans and "Sissy" chants when he begs the referee for a break. Arguing with the fans earns him nothing more than a knock upside his head from Renesto for not paying attention to his opponent. Ash is able to slow things down, first by complaining about his hair being pulled, then turning around and yanking Tim down by his long locks several times. The two trade near pinfalls before Ash is able to take Tim down with the Arkansas Whiplash and his feet on the ropes for added leverage. Bill Ash moves on to the finals and is booed as he celebrates his victory in the ring. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with a big thank you and a reminder to join us next week for more International Pro Wrestling action as well as one last plug for next Friday night in Jonesboro! DON'T MISS OUT ON THE ACTION! GET THOSE TICKETS TODAY!
