  1. Bro, you are writing my outline for me. Good stuff. Also, for the record, I did not try to reach out to the Steiners.

  3. My buddy Brent is doing Detroit with me. He grew up there and has some great stories including attending Mania 3 and the Ron Garvin title win. I tried to book the Steiners but they got all roid ragey on me.
  4. All props to Johnny Sorrow for the idea. Props to Johnny P for knowing a shitload about cities we have discussed doing and props to Meanie for being fucking AWESOME!!!!
  5. My hope is to do as many cities as possible.
  6. Great idea for a series of podcasts. What other cities are you planning on discussing? Memphis in 3 parts, San Fran, Detroit, San Antonio, Atlanta
  7. Will is joined by wrestling documentary maker John Philapavage (Barbed Wire City), Johnny Sorrow (from Titans of Wrestling) and the awesome Blue Meanie in this new podcast series. Meanie and the guys talk about memories as kids going to wrestling shows, The history of the WWF in the city, the NWA Great American Bash, the impact of ECW, the Attitude Era and the independent organizations that sprang up trying to fill the void of wrestling in the city. Three hours of Philadelphia memories!!! http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-acros...he-blue-meanie/
  8. I thought this was great. I generally dread Bill Dundee interviews but he was more open and upbeat. When you take away Alice and MSL, Cornette is still better to listen to than just about anybody.
  9. Yeah, not disagreeing with Mr. T's popularity at all... just saying that Perry was extremely popular at the right time for his Mania match. When you add up the nickname, the 15-1 season, the super Bowl win and the Super Bowl Shuffle and THEN Mania... Perry wasn't just a Chicago phenom. Also, agree that Fralic seemed very comfortable in front of a mic.
  10. Perry may not be Mr. T but there is no way to explain how over and popular he was on the path to the Bears championship. Seeing him in the Battle Royal after the Super Bowl was so surreal at the time.
  11. It is all new when it concerns this network.
  12. I know we discussed the access to old footage that is available but the bold part disturbs me. I didn't know they would remove content as well.
  13. That's creepy. The guy has to legitimately be old enough to be her grandfather. EDIT: I am fucking stupid. Old enough to be her father. I was thinking about teenage Dawna with 60 year old Flair.
  14. This quote interests me. Can you give me some examples of this being the case? I am not doubting you but where has MMA reporting helped a fight compared to a UFC hype special or video package?
  15. Doing this spot in front of what, a couple hundred fans? And it means less than a good clothesline in a match with psychology. Obviously never. Some people never will. I don't know what's worse, the workers doing that spot, the live fans clamoring for shit like that or the people in charge (assuming there's someone in the back, like a road agent at that Indy or something) allowing them to. How does that even come up? "Let's do a Spike Tombstone/Double Stomp through a table from the apron to the floor. That will get a pop, right!?" I thought the ROH Piledriver on the apron was bad... I was just singing along to the Kingston Trio.
  16. When will they ever learn.... when will they ever learn.
  17. I thought he was talking about Shawn.
  18. Where is Lawler at for you in terms of rankings as an all-time performer or do you want to wait before answering?
  19. I was thinking Tool's Prison Sex.
  20. Thought about it but he keeps coming out with badass matches in NXT.
  21. Steven Regal vs. Spanky (MCW 9/9/00) - Early on, Spanky tries to lock up with Regal and Regal throws him to the ground like Andre throwing Hoshino to the ground. Spanky does some flippy shit so Regal just knokcs him on the ass with a nasty forearm. At one point, Spanky hits a hurrancanrana and it feels like a victory for him. More abuse from Regal but he does manage to escape a butterfly suplex with a flippy arm drag thing that looked neat. Regal is torturing this poor kid but it works because Spanky is pretty good at playing underdog getting his ass kicked. Regal puts Spanky on the top rope but Spanky gets a tornado DDT for a near fall. Spanky starts his offense and the announcers and Spanky don't believe he is in control. He goes for a frog splash and misses so Regal locks in the Stretch to end it. Really fun 5 minutes and Regal is still gold.
  22. Damn, $550,000 for one match... fuck.
  23. I remember jumping in on that show having no idea what the fuck they were talking about.
