  1. Yeah, Jeff right now and the Jeff of the last four years or so may as well be two different people. So much more brutal in the ring, if nothing else.
  2. But that is what's happening. Paul London still does shooting star presses, he just does them less, etc. As for turning off fans....not sure there's ever been a successful box office draw who's used the shooting star press. I guess Brock is kinda borderline. Don't know how much of a draw you want to consider Liger. But I don't buy into the notion that cutting down on big moves will hurt business. Especially if it means less potential money draws dying.
  3. Really? That's odd. Last that I knew, Mike actually likes his job of announcing. There were aspects of the business/backstage side that he didn't like, but he was a wrestling fan. He's really one of the few people in wrestling who could walk away from it at any point, take the money he's made and invested over the years, and if needing a regular income go back to what he did before going into wrestling (running a not-so-small Vegas sports book if I recall) pretty easily. Maybe there are some stories out there of him saying he hates his job, and hates the fans, and is only doing the job for the cash. On hating wrestling fans... honestly, Joey comes across far more as loathing wrestling fans, simply poorly hiding it with a phoney exterior. Joey is the one who's doing the gig for the egofuck and the cash. Again, it's just for their TV personality. Whether or not Tenay actually hates wrestling and/or it's fans is irrelevant. He conveys hatred for wrestling and it's fans on TV, even moreso than Joey, who actually does feel that way to some extent. True. Really, you can extend that to wrestling performers as a whole. That said, this isn't "most loathsome personality on TV", it's "most loathesome personality on wrestling TV".
  4. A. When was this? B. The second time you say "I'm leaving this argument", it no longer has any meaning.
  5. Define sloppy. Fat, sweaty, black. Well, Khali IS sweaty, but I don't know about fat or black.
  6. You know, I've seen this argument used a bunch of times in a bunch of different places, and while I understand it, I don't really get what the big deal is. The first time I saw "Citizen Kane", I knew that "Rosebud" was a sled. The first time I saw "The Empire Strikes Back", I knew that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father. The first time I saw "Psycho", I knew that Norman's "mother" was actually Norman in drag. It didn't really hurt my enjoyment of any of those movies. I know that's not a strictly analoguous situation, but the point is I don't really see predictability as automatically being a bad thing. 90% of good wrestling booking is just doing what's obvious. Frankly, I applaud the WWE for actually committing themselves to maintaining a strong babyface company ace, particularly one who is still fairly young, and who seems driven to keep improving in-ring.
  7. Matt's about as ready for the main event as he's ever been, and considering the dearth of major face challengers for Edge, I think running with Matt as a challenger for a little while wouldn't be a bad idea. As a "character", I think he's more capable than he gives himself credit for. I don't see him being the center of the promotion, or a really major drawing card, but then I don't see him EVER being the center of the promotion or a major drawing card. But he's a strong enough character to merit a main event spot, and he's probably the best worker in the world right now other than Cena.
  8. Also, try wrapping your head around these two pearls of wisdom from tonight's PPV....
  9. How dare cruiserweights wrestle something other than the one match I've been told they are supposed to perform over and over and over and over and over and over again with minimal variation since 1996. Why can't they be more progressive?
  10. Yeah, that's another thing. The contrast between the genuine emotions of West and the clear disingenuity of Tenay is really, really striking. What I wrote about that....
