  1. I read this is the oldest footage we have of professional wrestling. The two men perform almost in a vacuum, sepia-tinted moving like a rotoscopy, struggling and dancing at the same time. It's beautiful.
  2. So... #2 and #1 drops tomorrow? What a ride this has been. Thank you to everyone who voted, to everyone who has been reacting here everyday, to the team that organized this and, of course, to @Grimmas. In my book, this is one of the most important projects ever done on pro-wrestling.
  3. That is, indeed, REALLY interesting. It's also obvious from his book that he had/has quite a clear artistic sensibility. I'm an actor training to be a pro-wrestler, and reading his book opened my eyes to a lot of things.
  4. I ask myself the same thing. Maybe the alleged liberties against gaijins?
  5. I laughed so hard at this lol Although I assume is a pretty common take, I second Boss Rock in that Shibata's performance vs Okada at Sakura Genesis is just pro-wrestling at its most poetic. I cried like a baby at that match, goddamn. And I just wanna comment very quickly on Dump's ability to rarefy any situation she was involved in, and turn it into pure, unparalleled chaos. I watched the Omori's scissor match like 4 days ago or something and jolted some immediate thoughts: "Some of the craziest, realest, most compelling things I've ever seen in my life. Dump Matsumoto is the wildest, most out-of-control wrestler ever (...) Dump may very well be the greatest wrestler of all time (...) Professional wrestling distilled into its primal essence and reaching its absolute peak.". I could watch Dump destroy any semblance of order in the world forever.
  6. This made me chuckle, and one of the reason I'm loving this unpredictable reveal. About Místico: Last September I traveled to México for work, and had a little scapade in between rehearsals to a CMLL show at Arena México. Místico was there, and although I left off actually thinking he was one of the weakest parts "mechanically" or whatever of the whole show, his aura, charisma and connection to the crowd was one of the most impressive and beautiful things I've ever witnessed. After that experience I started training to be a pro-wrestler, and I know that maybe, in part, that's because of the impact he had on me. I'm glad he gets his flowers.
