AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, June 22nd Losing Team Leaves Town Match : The California Cowboys vs. Mike Rotunda & Dan Spivey Jonathan Boyd snuck in the ring and clobbered Tim Brooks in the back of the head with the big gold ring. Spivey then hit a Big Leg Drop and sent the Cowboys packing from AWA Pacific Super Strong Machine vs. Nord The Barbarian Distraction from Larry Z led to Nord hitting Machine with a Big Boot to get the win Rip Oliver & Doug Somers vs. The French Revolution A very intense bout where Bravo was able to catch Somers in a side slam and score a hard fought victory for The Revolution The Hart Brothers vs. The Starr "Cousins" Keith Hart had caught Ron Starr in a sleeper hold, only for Chicky to hit him with a low blow from behind, leading to Ron rolling up Keith and getting the tainted pinfall Ron Garvin vs. Eric Embry Garvin pinned Embry after a Sunset Flip AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Rock & Roll Express © vs. The Spoiler & Texas Red An incredibly violent match where the Spoiler clotheslined the ref when he tried to stop Texas Red from choking Ricky Morton. The Rock & Roll Express won by DQ, but it took Gibson coming in with a chair to get Red off Morton

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, June 21st Loser Of The Fall Leaves Town Match : The Brigade vs. The California Connection & Jonathan Boyd It looks like the resentment that Adrian Adonis and his crew have for the newcomers to AWA Pacific has reached a boiling point, with Jonathan Boyd adding himself to the mix, and they are determined to run The Brigade out of town. With the stakes as high as they are, the California Connection seemed determined to keep Zenk and Perez in the ring for much of the match, being reticent to tangle with the much bigger Rotunda and Spivey. The two college lettermen ultimately had enough and charged into the ring, only to be met by the California Cowboys. When Boyd tossed Zenk over the top rope, leaving Adonis alone to set up Al Perez for the DDT, it looked like it was all over for the handsome Latin Heartthrob. But that's where the match took a strange turn. Boyd then suddenly hit Adonis with a low blow from behind, followed by an over the shoulder neckbreaker. He then plucked the ring symbolizing the King Of The Bay from the hand of Adonis before running out of the ring and disappearing. Perez was then able to execute the German Suplex on Adonis and send the Golden Boy out of AWA Pacific. It looks like Boyd has implemented his own one man coup to take the Bay Area throne for himself, leaving behind the California Cowboys trying to figure out just what happened. Robert Gibson vs. The Spoiler The Spoiler and Texas Red have announced their intentions to challenge for the AWA Pacific Tag Team Titles held by the Rock & Roll Express, and the masked man's partner was a glowering presence at ringside for this match. Gibson had Ricky Morton watching his back , but Red didn't do much more than scowl at him. Gibson had his hands full with the Spoiler, as he was giving up a couple of inches in height and a fair amount of experience to the masked man. He gamely engaged with Spoiler, using cat and mouse tactics to stay just out of range of his attacks . His luck ran out when Spoiler was able to dodge a dropkick, and Spoiler then whipped Gibson into the ropes before taking him down to the mat with the Claw. One two three and Spoiler had managed an impressive win over one half of the Tag Champs. It looks like the Express' Tag Team Titles are extremely vulnerable right now. The Cobra vs. Chicky Starr It hasn't been that long since Chicky Starr showed up at the side of his "Cousin" Ron , but has swiftly earned a reputation as one of the most devious men in AWA Pacific. He was up against a strong technical opponent in The Cobra and did everything he could to avoid locking up with him. Chicky actually did pretty well in matching up with Cobra's wrestling skills, as the momentum went back and forth throughout the night, but it looked like it would be for naught as Chicky landed awkwardly on a leapfrog and seemed to hurt his knee. Cobra wanted to go after him but the ref kept holding him back to give time to see if Chicky could continue. But it all turned out to be a ruse, as Chicky took advantage of the distraction to pull some brass knucks out of his trunks, out of sight of the ref. When Cobra came over to engage, Chicky slugged him with the loaded punch and got the pin. After the ref counted three, Chicky discretely put the knucks back in his trunks. He then jogged around the ring to mock Cobra, his "injured" knee clearly not bothering him anymore. Chicky Starr is one competitor in AWA Pacific who can not be trusted. Non-Title Match : "Diamond" Timothy Flowers vs. Ronnie Garvin Although Flowers' TV Title was not on the line, there was certainly a lot else on the line, as Garvin was gunning for a Title shot further down the line. Indeed , both men had a full complement of supporters at ringside, with Flowers having the rest of the Diamond Starr Corporation and Garvin having Leo Burke and the Hart Brothers. There was a threat of the outsiders getting involved throughout the match, and it came to a head when Flowers signaled to Embry before whipping Garvin into the ropes. This all fell apart, though, when Garvin reversed the whip at the last moment, and Embry accidentally tripped Flowers. Flowers then stumbled out of the ropes, leading to Garvin being able to hit him with a lightning quick Hands Of Stone punch. Garvin then rolled up Flowers for the pin, which will put him in a good position to get that title shot. Flowers berated Embry after the match. Looks like not all is well in the Diamond Starr Corporation. Billy Jack Haynes, Matt Borne, Chris Adams & Phil Hickerson vs. The Buddy Rose Army The past tag matches that Haynes and company have had with the Army have been riddled with interference from members of both sides. This time out, all members of the Army would be directly involved in the match, and tempers were clearly running high. Much of the attention was on Billy Jack, as the Army were clearly looking to take him out of contention for Rose's title, and Haynes was equally determined to prove himself worthy of another title shot. When the ref got caught in between a double clothesline by Rose and Haynes, this was the cue for chaos to completely break out. As both sides brawled with each other, somebody charged into the ring. It was Dick Slater! Slater, who hadn't been seen since he no showed a match with Matt Borne at Seattle Showdown, was brandishing a folded metal chair and was clearly looking to do major damage to Billy Jack. He raised the chair over his head, but was intercepted by Matt Borne. Borne grabbed the chair from Slater … and whalloped Billy Jack in the head with it! As the crowd watched in shock, the two grabbed Billy Jack and gave him a vicious Spike Piledriver onto the chair. They then grabbed the chair and left the ring. At this point, Rose sauntered over with a self satisfied smirk, grandly raised his index finger over his head, and then placed the tip of his finger on Billy Jack's chest. The ref had recovered enough to drag himself over and make the count. One … Two … THREE! Rose and the Army had gotten the win in the most sickening, humiliating way possible. What on earth has gotten into Matt Borne?

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , June 15th The Brigade vs. The California Connection & Jonathan Boyd Mike Rotunda pinned Tim Brooks after a Samoan Drop The Hart Brothers vs. The Starr "Cousins" Bruce Hart was to catch Chicky Starr with a flying lariat to score the pin The Vachon Brothers vs. The Assassins A crazy brawl that went to a double DQ Keiichi Yamada vs. Masanobu Fuchi Fuchi was going for an STF, but Yamada was able to counter with a small package to get the one two three Phil Hickerson vs. Ed Wiskowski A bloody match where "The Polish Prince" was ultimately able to hit the face first piledriver and get the win Super Strong Machine vs. Larry Zbyszko Larry ducked at the wrong time on a backdrop attempt, leading to SSM hitting the Devil Windmill Suplex for the victory. After the match, Larry and Nord The Barbarian attacked Machine and beat him down until Keiichi Yamada rushed to the ring to pull him out. AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title 2/3 Falls Match : Buddy Rose © vs. Billy Jack Haynes 1st Fall : Rose hit a low blow on Billy Jack to set him up for the Inside Out Backbreaker and score the first pinfall 2nd Fall : Billy Jack trapped Rose in the Full Nelson and forced him to give up the second fall 3rd Fall : Rose ducked and dodged and stalled for all he was worth, but Billy Jack was ultimately able to catch him in the Full Nelson one more time. Unfortunately for Haynes, almost immediately after he did that, the bell rang, signaling a 45 minute draw. Rose retained the title.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , June 14th Bruce & Keith Hart vs. Jonathan Libby & Jeff Wilson After stopping the Starr "Cousins" from interfering against CanCon last week, Bruce and Keith made their Showcase in-ring debut tonight. The brothers showed why the Hart Family is the benchmark for excellence in Canadian wrestling as they displayed their scientific expertise against their opponents. Libby barely got in the match as the Brothers took apart Wilson before Keith made him give up to the Figure Four leglock. A dominant performance, but would it be enough to counter the sneaky cunning of the Starrs? AWA Pacific Tag Team Titles : The Rock & Roll Express © vs. The California Cowboys There is a plethora of teams clamoring for a shot at the Rock & Rolls tag titles, but the California Cowboys cited their rematch clause and were clearly dead set on taking their belts back. They waged an all out assault on the champs, and Ricky and Robert had to dig deep to stay in the fight. The Cowboys looked set to take back the titles when Orton got Robert up for the Superplex, but Gibson was able to pull of the mid air pivot and instead landed on top of Orton for the one two three. The challengers were clearly steamed at the result, but that was overshadowed by what happened next. Seemingly out of nowhere, while the Rock & Rolls were celebrating in the ring, The Spoiler and Texas Red showed up at ringside. Ricky and Robert got set for an attack, but instead the two big men simply stared at them while shaking their heads, then left. It looks like Spoiler and Red are cutting to the front of the line to challenge for the titles. The Vachon Brothers vs. The Starr Cousins This match never got on the ground as the Vachons were immediately attacked by two masked men. As the two sides exchanged punches, Ron and Chicky Starr, clearly seeing nothing to be gained from the situation, bailed from the ring. Both the Vachons and the masked men brawled fiercely until security came out to separate the two sides, but once that was done, JR Foley came out and got on the ringside mic. He declared that the Vachons might have gotten rid of the Zambuie Express, but he was far from done with them, and he had brought in the Assassins to take them down for good. Tom Zenk vs. Adrian Adonis Zenk was accompanied at ringside by the other members of The Brigade, while Adonis was joined by the California Cowboys, as well as Jonathan Boyd for some reason. While Boyd has had his tussles with The Brigade, up until now he has had no affiliation with the California Connection. He certainly showed his effectiveness when Zenk went up top for the missile dropkick, only to be shoved hard by Boyd down to the mat. As Boyd and the Cowboys brawled at ringside with The Brigade, Adonis picked up Zenk and hit the DDT for the win. But that wasn't enough for Adonis, who went up to the second turnbuckle and indicated he was going to cave in Zenk's face with a kneedrop. He might have been successful had not The Brigade been able to break through the lines and rescue Zenk. Clearly, Adonis and Boyd have decided to join forces to wage war on the newcomers. Billy Jack Haynes , Matt Borne & Chris Adams vs. Buddy Rose, Doug Somers & Rip Oliver Haynes and company have been at a distinct numbers disadvantage against the Army, a fact underscored by Ed Wiskowski prowling at ringside, but put in a good showing against Buddy Rose's crew. Just when it looked like they would pull off the win, Wiskowski pulled himself up to the ring apron to interfere … but he was just as quickly pulled off by someone. It was Phil Hickerson! As Hickerson and Wiskowski slugged it out at ringside, Billy Jack took advantage of the distraction and nailed Rose with a belly to back suplex that scored the pinfall. Rose may well now be regretting the way he fired Hickerson from the Army, as it has led to the champ taking a loss.

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria , June 8th Al Perez vs. Jonathan Boyd With the other members of The Brigade at ringside, Perez won with a German Suplex Masanobu Fuchi & Mr. Hito vs. The Cobra & Keiichi Yamada A fast paced bout that ended with Yamada pinning Fuchi after a brainbuster Billy Jack Haynes, Matt Borne & Chris Adams vs. Rip Oliver, Doug Somers & Ed Wiskowski In a match where Haynes and Borne both took a serious pounding, Billy Jack was still able to catch Oliver in a powerslam off the ropes for the win. Buddy Rose was at ringside and, although the Army lost, he seemed very pleased with their efforts. Adrian Adonis vs. Tom Zenk Adonis seemed to have it in for young Zenk and battered him mercilessly, bloodying his nose. Zenk put in an heroic effort and looked like he might pull off a win, but a mistimed attempt at a back body drop led to Adonis nailing him with a DDT and getting the pinfall. The rest of The Brigade were once again at ringside and very supportive of his efforts, and when Adonis tried to go after Zenk post match, they stood over him and protected him. AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Rock & Roll Express © vs. Texas Red & The Spoiler In a crazy match, The Rock & Roll Express won by DQ when Texas Red slugged the referee "Diamond" Timothy Flowers, Eric Embry, Ron Starr & Chicky Starr vs. Ron Garvin, Leo Burke, Bruce Hart & Keith Hart Bruce Hart got the win for his team when he caught Embry with a flying lariat

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , June 7th Dan Spivey vs. Tim Brooks Spivey is coming off a tough loss at the Seattle Showdown at the hands of that nonetheless gained him a lot of fans and supporters in the audience for his gutsy performance. In tonight's match, he would be facing the man responsible for that loss, "Killer" Tim Brooks, and was clearly determined not to let it happen again. While Brooks had his partner "Cowboy" Bob Orton in his corner, Spivey had his own section in the form of Mike Rotunda , Al Perez and Tom Zenk. Word has it that these four young men have started calling themselves The Brigade and have sworn to watch each other's backs against the cutthroat Four Families. Spivey went in guns blazing and Brooks was backpedaling for much of the match against Spivey's incredible power. Ultimately Brooks decided to go with what worked for him before and loaded up his elbow pad, charging at Spivey for an elbow smash … only to be stopped dead in his tracks by a Big Boot to the chest. Spivey followed up with a massive lariat that got him the pinfall. Spivey had avenges his loss, and the fans and the rest of The Brigade went wild. The French Revolution vs. John Kenney & Rory Freeman The French Revolution is the new pairing of Dino Bravo and Phil LaFleur. Bravo, who was still recovering from injuries suffered in a match in Baltimore several weeks ago, spent much of the match on the apron. Regardless, he still provided support, advice and encouragement to LaFleur, and helped finish off Freeman with a side slam that combined with a flying legdrop by his partner. The tag team competition in AWA Pacific is certainly heating up, and with the rumours of a second set of tag team titles being added, it is likely to get even hotter. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring. Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my next guest is *deep sigh* still the AWA Pacific Heavyweight champion … "Playboy" Buddy Rose! The crowd explodes as Rose, accompanied by Rip Oliver along with the two newcomers who attacked Phil Hickerson at Seattle Showdown, comes strutting out like he owns the place. Bonnema : Buddy Rose , I couldn't help noticing that Phil Hickerson is no longer with you. After what you did to him at Seattle Showdown, I take it he is no longer in the ranks of the Army. Rose : Perceptive as always, Bonnema. Hickerson the Hick couldn't get the job done against Billy Jack Haynes, so he has been cashiered from the service. I need people who can follow through on their orders, and if you can't deliver, you can be replaced! Bonnema : So would these be his replacements here with you today? Rose : You are just full of great observations today, Bonnema, those new eyedrops your doctor has prescribed must really be working. Yes indeed, these are the newest members of the Army. This man (pointing to the tall man with the waxed moustache) is no stranger to the people of this territory, my good friend "The Polish Prince" Ed Wiskowski! And this man (pointing to the man with bleached blonde hair) is the one other man tough enough, smart enough, and above all, good looking enough to stand in our ranks … "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers! My title has never been more secure with these men watching my back. Chris Adams? You had your shot, and now you are done! Billy Jack Haynes? Lots of luck breaking through this line of defense! Face it folks, "The Playboy" is on top and you can all just learn to love it! Masanobu Fuchi vs. The Cobra These two also had a blazing hot tag match at Seattle Showdown and carried that momentum into tonight's show with a fast paced match that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Fuchi once again used his tough array of takedowns and submission holds on Cobra, but the masked man had that well scouted out this time and was able to roll through much of the moves and either escape or make it to the ropes to block the submissions. He was ultimately able to block an attempt at a backdrop driver and hit a belly to belly piledriver to pull out the win. A big win for Cobra but unlikely to stop any of Wakamatsu's men from taking another shot at him and Keiichi Yamada. Al Perez vs. Jonathan Boyd Once again, the rest of The Brigade joined Perez during this match at ringside. The veteran Boyd clearly was not impressed with these young pretty boys and really went after Perez with both fists flying. Perez was initially taken aback by this assault but rallied with his own scientific skills and takedowns. His technical skill managed to keep pace with Boyd throughout the match, but the always tough Boyd wouldn't let him keep the advantage for long. Boyd managed to legsweep Perez to the mat and put both his feet on the ropes for leverage, but Zenk pointed this out to the ref who stopped the count. Boyd immediately started to argue with the ref, but this only gave Perez the opportunity to get behind him and hit the German Suplex for the one two three. Another victory for The Brigade, but by the look on his face afterwards, Boyd was clearly plotting some sort of revenge. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers & Eric Embry vs. CanCon Both members of the Canadian Connection have had their problems with Timothy Flowers , as well as Eric Embry and the Starr "Cousins" , and the recent revelations that these two factions were in fact together seemed to put Flowers TV Title completely beyond their grasp. Indeed, once it seemed that the momentum of the match was heading towards Garvin and Burke, Ron and Chicky Starr could be seen sneaking down towards the ring to make their usual mischief. But they never made it that far, as they were ambushed from behind by two men. It was the Hart Brothers, Bruce and Keith! The two second generation stars made their AWA Pacific debut by waylaying Ron and Chicky, which proved a sufficient distraction to Flowers, who was clearly banking on their interference, that he turned around and walked straight into the Hands Of Stone Punch. Garvin got the one two three and the fans were jubilant. It looks like CanCon has managed to even the odds against the Diamond Starr Corporation.

AWA Pacific Seattle Showdown from the Kingdome, Seattle, June 1st (as shown on ESPN / TSN) The California Cowboys vs. Mike Rotunda & Dan Spivey This match pitted two relative newcomers to the Pacific region in Rotunda and Spivey against the veteran former tag champs. Orton and Brooks were clearly determined to squash the young upstarts but seemed caught off guard by the resiliency of Rotunda and Spivey, who were cheered on from ringside by Tom Zenk and Al Perez. The young up and comers started making impressive gains in the match, combining Spivey's power with Rotunda's considerable technical skills. Ultimately, the Cowboys went to the gutter to pull this match out, with Brooks clobbering Spivey from behind with his loaded elbow pad to score the pin. A disappointing result for the new generation, but they have definitely caught the notice of the fans and the other wrestlers. The Spoiler vs. Phil LaFleur Ever since his mentor Jacques Rougeau was taken out of action, Phil LaFleur has waged a one man campaign against The Spoiler and Texas Red and has been on the end of some nasty beatings. He hoped his luck would change in this one on one match with The Spoiler, but Texas Red was at ringside, and his menacing presence cast a shadow of the proceedings. LaFleur tried to keep it out of his mind and remained focused on Spoiler and held his own for most of the match. Eventually, Texas Red climbed up on the ring apron to interfere, but was swiftly sent to the floor by a dropkick from LaFleur. Looking to capitalize, LaFleur quickly went up to the top rope for his reverse flying cross body, but Spoiler ducked down. This, however, proved to be a feint by LaFleur, who instead went for a Flying Sunset flip and rolled up Spoiler. One … Two … THREE! LaFleur had gotten his most impressive win yet. That was not the end of the action, though as Texas Red came in and attacked him, with Spoiler joining in. The two stood LaFleur up and it looked like it would be the Heart Punch for LaFleur, but someone rushed into the ring and sent Texas Red flying out of the ring with a dropkick before sending Spoiler to join him. It was Dino Bravo, making his Pacific debut! Bravo helped LaFleur up and the two French-Canadians embraced, to the cheers of the fans. Keiichi Yamada & The Cobra vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi KY Wakamatsu cranked up the intensity of his battles with the other Japanese wrestlers in AWA Pacific by bringing in the very dangerous Masanobu Fuchi to his stable. The result was a very exciting match which pitted the high flying ability of Yamada and Cobra against the deadly ground attack of Hito and Fuchi. The end came when Yamada tried to finish of Fuchi with a running cross body press, but Fuchi ducked under it, then followed up with a backdrop driver. He then locked Yamada in the STF and, with Cobra tied up with Hito, Yamada had no choice but to give up, taking his first loss in AWA Pacific. We clearly have not seen the last of this rivalry. Matt Borne vs. Dick Slater Very strange. Matt Borne came out when he was announced, but when Slater was announced, nobody came to the ring. They announced him again, but still nobody. The ref was then forced to count to ten and , when nothing happened, awarded the match by countout to Borne, who gave a puzzled shrug and headed back to the locker room. What in the world happened to Slater? Loser Leaves Town Match : The Vachon Brothers vs. Zambuie Express With the intense hatred between these two teams, nothing would settle the feud short of a Loser Leaves Town match. The Zambuies kept their focus on the much smaller Mad Dog, trapping him in their end of the ring and keeping him from tagging in his larger brother. They pounded on him, mangled him, busted open a heavy gash across his forehead, but still the Mad Dog refused to go down. Eventually he had enough and started laying into them with brutal elbow shots. Both Kareem Muhammad and Elijah Akeem took a savage beating at the hands of the Canadian legend. He then dragged Akeem over to his corner and finally tagged in his brother. The Butcher then laid Akeem over his knee while Mad Dog came off the second rope and both brothers got the pin. The Zambuie Express are now gone from AWA Pacific and the Vachon Brothers stand triumphant. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : "Diamond" Timothy Flowers (c) vs. Ron Garvin Since taking the title from Leo Burke, "Diamond" Timothy Flowers has been difficult to unseat as TV champion. Although he has lost his main ally Goldie Rogers, he has still survived every challenge to his championship thus far. This time out , he was facing Burke's partner Ron Garvin and it seemed like this would be where his luck ran out. Garvin dominated the majority of the match, with Flowers getting only brief periods of offense usually through low tactics. It looked like it was all over for Flowers, as Garvin was peppering him with hard punches and seemingly winding up for the Hands Of Stone, when the champ started waving to the back of the arena. This was evidently the signal for Eric Embry and the Starr "Cousins" to rush to the ring. It turns out their attacks on Garvin and Burke were directed by Flowers all along. Garvin won by DQ but this did him no good either in getting the title or fending off the superior numbers of Flowers and his cronies. He took a lot of damage before Burke came charging in, at which point Flowers and company headed back to the locker room, laughing all the way. This is a new low for the TV champion. Billy Jack Haynes vs. Phil Hickerson After interfering in a number of Billy Jack's matches, Hickerson had one goal in mind, one assigned to him by Buddy Rose : take the Portland powerhouse out of action for good. Hickerson really took it to Haynes, doing a lot of damage with his attacks. Haynes was no weakling, though, and came back with his own furious power based attack. Hickerson showed just how tough he was, weathering the crushing moves of Haynes and keeping up his assault. Haynes was able to keep chipping away at the tough Tennessean and was able to lock him in the Full Nelson. Hickerson struggled mightily but could not break the hold, and even though he held out longer than anyone might have thought possible, he still had to give up the match. As a sign of respect, Haynes helped him up afterwards and shook his hand before leaving the ring. Less respectful was Buddy Rose, who came out with Rip Oliver to berate Hickerson for failing to get rid of Haynes. Hickerson may have been battered by the match but was still in no mood for Rose's guff, and when the Playboy slapped his face, Hickerson responded by slugging both Rose and Oliver. Immediately, two men, one with bleached blonde hair and the other a tall man with a waxed moustache, raced to the ring and attacked him, joining Rose and Oliver in beating him down. After doing their damage, all four men left Hickerson laying in the middle of the ring. Street Fight : Roddy Piper vs. King Kong Bundy After many battles, Piper finally had Bundy where he wanted him, with no Zambuie Express to tip the scales. He still had his work cut out for him with the Walking Condominium, giving up a considerable size deficit. Still, the Hot Scot used every advantage he could take in this match, from whipping Bundy with his belt to ramming him into the corner post on the outside. Bundy kept advancing on him like a juggernaut and got several near falls on the Rowdy One. It looked like it would be all over for Piper when Bundy whipped him hard into the corner to set him up for the Atlantic City Avalanche. What Bundy didn't realize, however, was that earlier in the match, Piper had loosened the turnbuckle pad, and at the last moment dodged the Avalanche while simultaneously yanking away the protective padding, sending Bundy hard into the exposed bolt. As Bundy staggered back in pain, Piper rolled him up. One … two … THREE! Piper had pulled off the impossible, pinning the New Jersey Leviathan. Now he could resume his quest for the Heavyweight title. AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Rock & Roll Express (c) vs. The East-West Connection Ever since the Rock & Rolls won the tag titles from the California Cowboys, the East-West Connection have been determined to bring back the belts to the California Connection. They certainly took it to Ricky and Robert, but the Rock & Roll Express have come into their own since winning the titles, and weren't going down without a fight. The momentum of the match swung back and forth, with sometimes the size and power of Ventura and Adonis dominating, and sometimes the speed and coordination of the champs. But ultimately it was the Double Dropkick of the Rock & Roll Express that took down Ventura and successfully defended their titles. Bring on the next challengers! AWA Heavyweight Title Match : Buddy Rose (c) vs. Chris Adams Although Rose came out alone for this match, his men had certainly had their effect going in, with numerous attacks on Adams leg compromising his ability to hit the Superkick. That said, the Superkick was not the only weapon in Adams arsenal, and he used everything he had, including some hard suplexes and lariats that sent Rose reeling. The Playboy seemed to be stalling for time, ducking out of the ring every chance he got. Showing his considerable guile, he was able to get the advantage of Adams in a number of exchange through trickery and short cuts. Adams was able to hit the Superkick at one point, but it sent Rose flying out of the ring, and it took so long to drag Rose back inside that he was only able to get a two count. The war raged back and forth until Adams was once more able to hit the Superkick, this time in the middle of the ring. But no sooner had Adams gone for the cover than the bell rang, signaling a 30 minute time limit draw. The wily Rose had once again come out with his belt, and Adams was left in frustration.

After the match, Spoiler and Texas Red beat down LaFleur until they were sent to the back by the AWA officials Ron Garvin vs. Eric Embry Garvin managed to stay out of the reach of the Starr "Cousins" at ringside and nailed Embry with the Hands Of Stone Punch to get the win Super Strong Machine vs. Nord The Barbarian SSM was holding his own until Larry Zbyszko snuck in the ring and hit him with a set of brass knucks , leading to Nord hitting a bombs away kneedrop and getting the tainted pinfall. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , May 24th Dan Spivey vs. Brook Geraghty Once again, the show starts off with a newcomer to AWA Pacific. Spivey, a powerfully built former Georgia Bulldog, easily outmuscled Geraghty throughout the match and had no problem with him at all. Early in the match, Mike Rotunda, Tom Zenk and Al Perez made their way to ringside and observed the action, quietly discussing Spivey's performance with each other. After Spivey polished off Geraghty with a running legdrop, the three men accompanied him back to the locker room, talking excitedly with him. Spivey, for his part, seemed interested in what they had to say and was nodding his head at their discussion. Texas Red vs. Phil LaFleur LaFleur has been somewhat at loose ends since his mentor, Jacques Rougeau, went down to the Heart Punch of Texas Red. Rougeau hasn't been seen since then, and LaFleur is keen to get avenge the loss of his friend, but has found himself at a disadvantage of having to deal with both the power of Red and the cunning of his partner The Spoiler. LaFleur put in a valiant effort, keeping Red off balance with is dropkicks and high flying moves, but when he went for his reverse crossbody press, Red was able to catch him and bring him down over his knee in a backbreaker. Red then hit a big flying elbow drop to put an end to LaFleur's challenge. After the match, Red grabbed LaFleur by the hair and dragged him to his feet, looking like he was going to give him the Heart Punch. Instead , he simply slapped him hard across the face and let him drop to the mat. Texas Red and the Spoiler then left LaFleur lying in the ring, humiliated. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi vs. John Palyok & Brady Finta The latest member of KY Wakamatsu's stable (who first appeared last week attacking Keiichi Yamada) turns out to be seasoned Japanese wrestler Masanobu Fuchi. This time out, he teamed with Mr. Hito and the two seemed to take delight in torturing Palyok and Finta, stretching them in all sorts of excruciating holds while Wakamatsu cackled through his megaphone at ringside. Fuchi finally forced Palyok to give up to the STF, holding it for as long as possible even after he submitted and only letting it go when the ref threatened to reverse the decision. They didn't have long to celebrate their victory, however, as Yamada and Cobra swiftly made their way to the ring and attacked them, looking for payback for the previous week's ambush. The two sides went at it until the officials cleared them from the ring. CanCon vs. LA Express Ron Starr and Eric Embry were accompanied, once again, by Starr's Puerto Rican "cousin" Chicky Starr, who was a constant threat at ringside. Leo Burke and Ron Garvin were very wary of Chicky's presence and looked to try to finish off LA Express before he could interfere, but the constant backpedalling and dodging of Embry and Ron made that difficult. Garvin was ultimately able catch Embry flatfooted with the Hands Of Stone punch and get a quick three count, but while he was doing that, the Starrs had pulled Burke off the ring apron and were putting the boots to him. When he saw what was going on, Garvin was able to rush over and run them off, but Burke had taken a few bruises in the meantime. The Vachon Brothers vs. The Zambuie Express As you could expect, there wasn't a lot of scientific wrestling or matwork in this match. An all out, crazed slugfest with blood and violence was what was on offer, with the referee struggling in vain to keep control of the match. This got him a headbutt from both Butcher Vachon and Kareem Muhammed, leading to a double DQ finish. This didn't slow down the combatants any, who kept brawling long after the decision was rendered. It took not just the AWA officials but all of the arena security to get both sides separated. When the ring was finally cleared, the announcement was made that the match between the two teams at Seattle Showdown would be Loser Leaves Town. Clearly, AWA Pacific could no longer contain both teams, and one would have to go. Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver & Phil Hickerson vs. Chris Adams, Billy Jack Haynes & Matt Borne In this match, Rose and Oliver kept their focus on trying to hurt Chris Adams to do as much damage as they could before Seattle Showdown, while Hickerson did the same to Haynes, with Borne getting caught in the crossfire. Despite the best efforts of Rose's Army, Haynes was still able to catch Oliver coming off the ropes in a powerslam and was able to get the three count. Haynes and his friends were triumphant , but had sustained a lot of damage going into Seattle Showdown.

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, May 18th The California Cowboys & Jonathan Boyd vs. Mike Rotunda, Tom Zenk & Al Perez The Cowboys and Boyd were extremely aggressive and really took it to the newcomers, but the young men proved their resiliency and kept coming back, with Rotunda hitting a leaping clothesline on Boyd to get the upset pin Keiichi Yamada vs. Mr. Hito Yamada pinned Hito with a German Suplex. After the match, another Japanese wrestler charged into the ring and attacked Yamada. The two men and Wakamatsu beat down Yamada until Cobra rushed to the ring and ran them off Ron Garvin, Leo Burke & Phil LaFleur vs. Eric Embry, Ron Starr & Chicky Starr LaFleur had Embry in a roll up, but Chicky clobbered him from behind and reversed it, leading to a victory for Embry and the Starrs. The Vachon Brothers vs. The Zambuie Express A crazy, bloody match with both brothers hitting a running elbow smash on Elijah Akeem to get the one two three. The brawling continued even after the final bell. Super Strong Machine vs. Larry Zbyszko Larry won by count out when Nord the Barbarian ambushed Machine on the outside with a clothesline to the back of the head Chris Adams vs. Rip Oliver "The Crippler" relentlessly went after Adams' leg to neutralize the Superkick, but Adams was still able to catch him in a single arm judo throw to pull out the victory. Adams got the win but is certainly banged up going into his match against Buddy Rose for the title at Seattle Showdown. AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Buddy Rose © vs. Billy Jack Haynes Billy Jack was getting set to hit Rose with a massive lariat, but Phil Hickerson pulled down the top rope and Billy Jack took a tumble to the outside, leading to him losing by countout. After the match, Billy Jack challenged Hickerson to face him at Seattle Showdown.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, May 17th Mike Rotunda vs. Osten Taylor The recent injection of new blood into the Pacific territory continues with the arrival of young Mike Rotunda. The Syracuse alum bring with him an impressive resume of both collegiate and professional wrestling credentials and they were certainly on display as he took on the rookie Osten Taylor. Rotunda easily dominated Taylor with his considerable technical skills before polishing him off with a leaping clothesline. With all of the young talent joining the Pacific roster, Rotunda may well be racing out in front of the pack. Adrian Adonis vs. Ricky Morton After the Rock & Roll Express took the Pacific Tag Team Titles from the California Cowboys, the other half of the California Connection, the East-West Connection , have been making a concerted effort to bring the belts back into the fold. In this singles match, the Golden Boy administered quite a pounding on Morton, even bloodying his nose at one point, but Morton just kept firing back, no matter how much punishment he took. Morton seemed like he might just gave the permanent advantage when he whipped Adonis into the ropes and ducked down for a backdrop, only for Adonis to stop in his tracks and drill Morton into the mat with a DDT for a quick 1-2-3 . A big singles victory, but it will take a tag team win to get the titles. Dick Slater & Jonathan Boyd vs. Billy Jack Haynes & Matt Borne When Slater first arrived in AWA Pacific, he immediately targeted Billy Jack Haynes, but lately it has been Haynes' friend Matt Borne who has weathered most of Slater's attacks while Haynes aimed for Buddy Rose's Pacific Heavyweight Title. For this match, Slater teamed up with Jonathan Boyd to face both men at once, but the pair kept their focus on wearing down Borne, dodging Haynes whenever he came in the ring and working to keep Borne from tagging out. The match took a strange turn when Buddy Rose and Phil Hickerson came to ringside and attacked Haynes. Billy Jack was not able to tag in for Borne when he was able to make it to the corner, and not able to rescue him when Boyd hit the reverse neckbreaker and get the pinfall. Haynes sure has his work cut out for him, fighting a war on two fronts, and Borne seems to be the one caught in the crossfire. Ron Starr vs. Ron Garvin Ron Starr was accompanied not just by his partner Eric Embry, but another wrestler that Starr identified as his cousin from Puerto Rico, Chicky Starr. It wasn't too long before the two men were prowling around the ring like hungry sharks during the match, and Garvin called in backup in the form of his partner, Leo Burke. What resulted was a hard hitting match with a lot of chaos surrounding it. Garvin was attempting to Sunset Flip Ron Starr, but the ref was distracted by Embry and Burke brawling at ringside, allowing Chicky to sneak in the ring and clobber Garvin with a blackjack. He then put Ron on top of him, and the ref, having not noticed the attack, counted Garvin's shoulders to the mat for a three count. It looks like Ron Starr's cousin is just as "Rotten" as he is. Texas Red & The Spoiler vs. Jacques Rougeau & Phil La Fleur One newcomer who has been carving a path of terror across AWA Pacific has been Texas Red. Guided by his mentor The Spoiler and using the dreaded Heart Punch, the lanky Texan has left a trail of broken bodies and terrified fans everywhere he has gone. Jacques Rougeau certainly seemed very reluctant let his young pupil anywhere near Red, but La Fleur was very eager to prove himself. When Rougeau finally tagged him in, La Fleur went all out against Red, peppering him with rapid punches and dropkicks. He held his own for a while, but then went for a reverse crossbody, which Red dodged with seeming ease. Red then unleashed a vicious beatdown on La Fleur, culminating with a lariat that got the pinfall. Looking to make an example of La Fleur, Red picked him up from the mat and seemed to be about give him the Heart Punch. Rougeau desperately dove into the ring and grabbed La Fleur, trying to pull him out of the ring. Red caught Rougeau by the hair, pulled him back in, and instead gave the Heart Punch to Rougeau, who collapsed to the mat. Red and Spoiler arrogantly left the ring, while the medical crew took Rougeau out on a stretcher. King Kong Bundy & Zambuie Express vs. Roddy Piper & ?? ?? JR Foley's men have kept Piper away from challenging for the Heavyweight title but haven't been able to keep him down for long, and the fans were certainly eager to find out who his partners would be in this six man tag match. They didn't have to wait for long, as he came charging out with … THE VACHON BROTHERS! All three of them immediately went after Bundy and the Zambuies, with the result being a crazy brawl with all present getting busted open. The match finally ended when Butcher held Elijah Akeem over his knee and Mad Dog came off the second turnbuckle with a crushing kneedrop that got the three count. Piper has finally found some partners as crazy as he is, and the impregnable wall of Foley's men are actually starting to look vulnerable.

After the match, Red tried to hit the Heart Punch on LaFleur, but Rougeau saved his partner by dragging him out of the ring AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Rock & Roll Express © vs. The East-West Connection The Rock & Rolls defended their belts when they hit Ventura with a double dropkick Roddy Piper vs. King Kong Bundy Piper manager to get the Sleeper Hold on Bundy, but was attacked by the Zambuie Express, leading to a DQ. Piper managed to make it out of the ring and fend them off with a chair, then got on the mic and challenged them to a six man tag match the next week in Los Angeles. Buddy Rose & Phil Hickerson vs. Chris Adams & Scott McGhee McGhee was still hurt after the match on Pacific Showcase, so instead Adams partner was Billy Jack Haynes. This wound up being bad news for Rose, as Haynes caught him off the ropes with a powerslam and scored the one two three, to a huge cheer from the fans.
