AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria , May 4th Jonathan Boyd vs. Ricky Gibson Boyd won with the three point stance clothesline Gama Singh vs. Super Strong Machine Machine won with the Devil Windmill Suplex Texas Red vs. Steve Simpson Red took out Simpson with the Heart Punch Jacques Rougeau & Phil LaFleur vs. LA Express Rougeau pinned Embry after a top rope kneedrop Larry Zbyszko vs. Big Jim Nord the Barbarian ambushed and bloodied Jim before the match, leaving him to be easy pickings for Larry Z. Matt Borne vs. Dick Slater Slater won with a piledriver The Diamond & Gold Exchange vs. The Vachon Brothers The Vachons bloodied both men and got the pin on Rogers after a double running elbow smash to the head King Kong Bundy vs. Roddy Piper Both men were counted out while brawling outside the ring Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver & Phil Hickerson vs. Chris Adams, Scott McGhee & Billy Jack Haynes Rose's Army relentlessly worked over McGhee, keeping him in their corner for most of the match. Billy Jack was able to tag in, and immediately caught Rose with a powerslam and went for the cover, but the ref failed to see the tag, and while the ref was sending Billy Jack out of the ring, Oliver and Hickerson hit a spike piledriver on McGhee and placed Rose on top of him , giving the victory to the Army.

Given that my roster includes Piper, Rose, Adonis, Ventura, and Larry Z, interviews are worth the effort of writing them, not to mention a necessity

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , May 3rd Lord Jonathan Boyd vs. Daniel Lue After being off TV for the month of April while ESPN / TSN was showing the International Sportsball Championship, AWA Pacific is back with the return of tough-as-nails Antipodean veteran Lord Jonathan Boyd. His time away from the territory certainly hasn't mellowed his disposition any, as he laid a brutal beatdown on young Daniel Lue, savagely pummeling him before putting him away with a nasty neckbreaker. Only time will tell what his plans are in AWA Pacific, but it is sure to be bad news for somebody. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : "Diamond" Timothy Flowers © vs. Mad Dog Vachon Flowers recently won the TV title at the Aloha Spectacular by taking advantage of an injured Leo Burke. He would have no such advantage in this match, facing a health and quite angry Mad Dog. Vachon has been targeting the Diamond & Gold Exchange for the past while, since Goldie Rogers attacked him during an earlier match with Flowers, and the addition of the TV title to the mix has intensified his focus. Vachon went all out against Flowers, who seemed to be in a state of high panic throughout the match. Flowers went for the tried and true tactic of having his partner, Goldie Rogers, attack Vachon. This meant an end to the match by DQ, but didn't slow up Vachon any , who simply started pounding on Rogers. Flowers resorted to bringing in a chair and hitting Vachon over the head with it, opening up a gash on his forehead. The two proceeded to beat down Vachon until somebody charged into the ring and sent Flowers and Rogers flying. It's Butcher Vachon! The Vachon Brothers are reunited in AWA Pacific! The Diamond & Gold Exchange went running for the locker room while the Butcher held back his brother, who was bleeding and baying for the blood of Flowers and Rogers. The Diamond & Gold Exchange certainly look like they have kicked the hornet's nest in the Vachon Brothers. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my guest is *still* the AWA Pacific Heavyweight Champion … "Playboy" Buddy Rose! The crowd explodes in boos as Buddy Rose, title belt over his shoulder and an insufferably smug expression on his face, made his way to the ring. His is accompanied by his partner, Rip Oliver, and a third man who is unfamiliar to the AWA Pacific fans. Bonnema : Buddy Rose, I am somewhat surprised to see you still with that title belt. I would have figured you would be stripped of the title after your match with Roddy Piper, given the strict injunctions in the match contract against outside interference. Rose : Contract, you say? Well , let's have a look at that contract. (pulls the contract out of the pocket of his robe) Hmmm, the following people are barred from being present during the match … Rip Oliver, The Diamond & Gold Exchange, The California Connection, Lightweight Larry and the LA Express … no mention of King Kong Bundy, no mention of JR Foley , no DQ rule in play, and nothing stopping them from lending a hand. All legal as church on Sunday! (waving the contract under Bonnema's nose) The Playboy is still the champ, and all of you might as well get used to it. Bonnema : (backing up while giving Rose a dirty look) After the match, you were calling Foley The New King. Does this mean that his stable is now the Fourth Family? Rose : You have a keen grasp of the obvious, Bonnema. Foley got it done where Zbyszko failed. Larry the Loser is out, JR Foley is in. And we finally have a Fourth Family worthy of being in the same alliance as myself. Bonnema : You may be champion for now, but Piper is not going to take this lying down, and his friends Chris Adams and Scott McGhee are hot on your heels as well. Rose : Oh, please. Piper had his shot and he missed. If he wants me, he has to get past King Kong Bundy first, and that is just not going to happen. And as for Adams and McGhee … I've brought in one of the toughest men in wrestling (gesturing to the new man) , big Phil Hickerson out of Jackson, Tennessee. When Phil and the Crippler get done with them, Adams and McGhee are going to find it hard to challenge for my title with broken legs. Face facts, Bonnema. The Four Families have taken over, and the Playboy is sitting pretty, as he always does. AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Rock & Roll Express © vs. LA Express Ricky and Robert are hot of winning the Tag Titles from the California Cowboys, and were looking to have that momentum carry them past Ron Starr and Eric Embry. Starr and Embry clearly were in no mood to by bypassed, and put up quite a fight for the new champions, but in the end the Rock & Rolls hit the Double Dropkick on Embry and retained their titles. An impressive first defense, but they will still have to contend with the former champs Bob Orton and Tim Brooks, as well as the many other tough teams in AWA Pacific. Keiichi Yamada vs. Phil LaFleur These two wowed the fans as part of an exciting tag match at the Aloha Spectacular, and were both equally impressive in this singles match. They had an intense and fast paced technical match where the momentum shifted back and forth throughout the match, and the fans were on the edge of their seats for every second of it. As the match wound down to the end, Yamada caught LaFleur in an armlock, but LaFleur was just barely able to get to the ropes to escape, and the bell rang, signaling a 15 minute Time Limit Draw. Both men shook hands after the match, but from the looks on their faces, they clearly wanted another crack at each other. Larry Zbyszko vs. Jimmy Valiant Larry Zbyszko has had a very rough ride of late. Failing to retrieve the gold ring from Roddy Piper, being abandoned by his now former partners the LA Express , getting kicked out of the Four Families , and, most humiliatingly, having Jimmy Valiant and Big Jim dance over his unconscious form at the Aloha Spectacular. He certainly was wearing an anxious look on his face as he walked to the ring, carrying with him a briefcase. Not wanting to risk Larry using it as a weapon in his match, the ref insisted he put it down on the timekeeper's table before starting the match. Larry would frequently glance nervously at the briefcase throughout the match. Valiant, for his part, would regularly mock Larry for this as he taunted him during the match. Larry could not get much offense going with this distraction, and Valiant dominated the match until a mid ring collision sent the ref dazed to the mat , barely conscious. Larry gestured out to the briefcase, but before he could get to it, Valiant locked him in the Sleeper Hold. It looked like that was it for Larry Z, only the ref was still out. But then, out of nowhere, someone leapt into the ring and attacked Valiant. It was Nord the Barbarian, with his manager KY Wakamatsu close behind! Nord knocked Valiant down with a big clothesline, then went to the top rope and crushed him with a flying kneedrop. He then put Larry on top while Wakamatsu revived the ref to make the three count. After the match, Larry handed the briefcase to Wakamatsu, who opened it up, revealing the briefcase to be filled with stacks of money. Wakamatsu nodded and closed the brief case, heading to the locker room while Larry and Nord followed close behind. The crowd was stunned at this shocking turn of events. It looks like Larry has bought the key to snap his streak of bad luck.

LOL Brooks is still a big part of my promotion but this title change was in the works for a whole. Knowing what I was going to do to them in the main event, I wanted to give the fans something to be happy about.

AWA Pacific Aloha Spectacular from Neal S. Blaisdell Arena , Honolulu , on ESPN / TSN , March 29th The Spoiler & Texas Red vs. The Glamour Boys Red pinned Doll after the Heart Punch. After the match, he looked like he was going to go after Simpson as well, but Spoiler pulled him back. Jacques Rougeau & Phil LaFleur vs. The Cobra & Keiichi Yamada A very exciting technical match with lots of high flying moves where Yamada pinned LaFleur after a reverse cross body press. All four men shook hands after the match. Nord The Barbarian vs. Super Strong Machine An intense fight that ended with both men chopping each other outside the ring, leading to a double countout. Dick Slater vs. Matt Borne Slater was about execute a piledriver on Borne when someone charged into the ring and attacked Slater. It was Billy Jack Haynes, returning to get revenge. Slater won by DQ, but Haynes was able to save his friend. Larry Zbyszko & LA Express vs. Mad Dog Vachon, Jimmy Valiant & Big Jim Mid-way though the match, while Larry was being mauled by Vachon, Embry and Starr looked at each other, shrugged, and left the ring, walking back to the locker room and leaving Larry to his fate. After a long period of Larry being bounced around the ring by the other team, Valiant ended up putting him out for good with the sleeper hold. After the match, Valiant and Big Jim were dancing around the unconscious form of Larry Z, to the cheers of the fans. Adrian Adonis vs. Ronnie Garvin A hard hitting slugfest where Garvin ended up with a bloody nose but was still able to tag Adonis with the Hands Of Stone Punch to get the three count. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Leo Burke © vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Burke came in with heavily bandaged ribs from his recent match with the Zambuie Express. Sensing weakness, Flowers went after Burke's ribs, hammering them with punches and knee shots. Burke took a lot of damage but fought back valiantly. It seemed like he might just pull it out when he was able to lock Flowers in the Sleeper, but Flowers kept hitting hard elbow jabs to the ribs that forced him to break the hold. With Burke doubled over in pain, Flowers executed the Piledriver and scored the pinfall. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers is the new AWA Pacific Television Champion. AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The California Cowboys © vs. The Rock & Roll Express Determined to maintain their grip on the Tag Team Titles, Brooks and Orton waged an all out war on Gibson and Morton, pounding them with huge punches and power moves, busting open both men . But the Rock & Rolls seemed equally determined, bouncing back from everything the Cowboys threw at them and firing back with their own quick offense. It seemed like it was going to be another successful defense for the Cowboys when Orton put Morton on the top turnbuckle for the Superplex. But Morton was able to pivot in mid air and ended up landing on top of Orton. Brooks tried to break up the pin, but Gibson was able to intercept him, and Morton got the one two three. The Rock & Roll Express are now the AWA Pacific Tag Team Champions, to the immense cheers of the fans. No DQ AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Buddy Rose © vs. Roddy Piper With all of the other AWA Pacific titles changing hands earlier in the card, Piper was looking to make it a clean sweep. He was going in with a No DQ stipulation, but secure in the knowledge that all of the other members of the Four Families were banned from the match under threat of fines and suspension. Rose was in full retreat mode for much of the match , bailing from the ring every chance he got. If he was looking to tire Piper out by forcing him to chase him, he clearly underestimated the Rowdy One, as the Hot Scot seemed to have boundless energy as he went after the Playboy. It took an even worse turn for Rose as he attempted a running kneelift on Piper in the corner, but Piper dodged out of the way and Rose hurt his knee. Sensing that his moment had come, Piper locked Rose in a Figure Four Leglock in the middle of the ring. But then a commotion broke out as somebody came charging to the ring. It was King Kong Bundy, with his manager JR Foley trailing behind! Bundy broke up the figure four with a huge splash, then hauled up Piper by the hair, whipped him hard into the corner and came in with a crushing Atlantic City Avalanche. After one more splash, Bundy then stood back as Rose went for the cover and Foley ordered the ref to make the three count. The ref was reluctant but had no choice and Rose had successfully retained his title. To add insult to injury, Bundy plucked the big gold ring from Piper's finger and handed it to Rose, who then grandly presented it to Foley while shouting out, "The new King!" Laughing evilly, all three of them left the ring together, to the crazed booing of the fans.

Because he is right up there with Kevin Sullivan and Tully Blanchard as one of the most naturally detestable people in wrestling.

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles, March 23rd Texas Red vs. Baron Von Raschke Red won with the Heart Punch. The Baron ended up being taking out on a stretcher. Keiichi Yamada vs. Goldie Rogers Yamada won with a top rope flying splash. Big Jim vs. Nord The Barbarian Nord hit a running Bombs Away kneedrop on the outside and won by countout Rock & Roll Express vs. LA Express The Rock & Rolls hit the Double Dropkick on Embry for the victory Mad Dog Vachon vs. Tony Anthony A knock down, drag out brawl that ended in a double DQ AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The California Cowboys © vs. Jacques Rougeau & Phil LaFleur The French Canadian team put up a ferocious challenge for the champions, so much so that Brooks resorted to the loaded elbow pad to the back of LaFleur's head to pull out the dirty victory Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver & Larry Zbyszko vs. Roddy Piper, Chris Adams & Scott McGhee Adams Superkicked Larry into a rollup by Piper to score the win for their team. Rose and Oliver seemed content in letting Larry get pounded on by the other team for most of the match, and after the loss left him alone in the ring.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN , March 22nd Texas Red vs. Ricky Gibson While Texas Red made a big splash in his first AWA Pacific appearance, of late it has seemed that Ricky Gibson. Try though he might, Red has fallen short in several matches against the much smaller Gibson. Determined to get revenge, Red has demanded a rematch, and was clearly boiling mad as he went after Gibson. Gibson kept his cool and used hit and run tactics on Red, scoring damage while keeping the big Texan too angry to think. It looked to be the same old story as Gibson went up top to take Red out with the missile dropkick, but it turned out that the Texan was playing possum and dodged out of the way , sending Gibson crashing to the mat. Red grabbed Gibson by his hair, forcing him to his feet, then jackhammered his fist hard into the centre to his chest. Gibson collapsed to the mat, and Red contemptuously put his foot on Gibson to get the one two three while the fans' mouths hung open in shock. For a moment, it looked as though Red would go back to Gibson to try to inflict more damage, but his mentor, The Spoiler, pulled him away. Gibson's brother, Robert, rushed out to the ring with his partner Ricky Morton to try to help him from the ring, but Gibson had to be taken out on a stretcher, having still failed to regain consciousness. Texas Red has been intimidating before, but now has taken an even more terrifying dimension. CanCon vs. The Zambuie Express After some recent tough losses to the Rock & Roll Express, the Zambuies came out clearly looking to show that they were not to be overlooked. They unleashed an all out attack on Burke and Garvin, notably inflicting a lot of damage to Burke's ribs. Burke and Garvin are two of the toughest men in AWA Pacific and would not be kept down for long, battling back hard. All four men wound up being busted open before Garvin was finally able to hit Kareem Muhammed with the Hands Of Stone Punch to send him down for the three count. A hard fought victory, but Burke was clearly in a lot of pain as he left the ring. Nord The Barbarian vs. Ryan Aiken KY Wakamatsu's huge enforcer has been waging his own campaign of terror through AWA Pacific ever since he arrived. Aiken was clearly terrified of locking up with him, and the enormous Barbarian knocked him from pillar to post before tossing him from the ring. That wasn't enough for Nord, who ran back and forth between the ropes before leaping from the ring and landing on Aiken with a crushing double knee drop. Needless to say, Aiken was not able to make it back into the ring, and Nord won by countout. If Super Strong Machine wasn't concerned about his upcoming match with Nord at the Aloha Spectacular in Hawaii, he certainly should be now. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my guest will be challenging Buddy Rose for the AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title at the upcoming Aloha Spectacular in Honolulu, Hawaii … "Rowdy" Roddy Piper! The Auditorium fills with the sounds of audience cheers and bagpipes playing "Scotland The Brave" as Piper heads out to the ring. Bonnema : Roddy Piper, you are on quite a roll recently. You send Al Madril packing from AWA Pacific, and now you are getting a title match with Buddy Rose in Honolulu. Piper : You're not wrong, Frankie Boy. But it's not all sunshine and roses for the Hot Scot. True, it was a pleasure and a privilege to run Chiquita Madril out of town. But getting that title match did come at a cost. I had to agree to it being a No Countout, No DQ match. Bonnema : Whoah, are you sure that is a wise decision? That leaves you open to be attacked by Rip Oliver and who knows who else. Piper : Very true, Franco. That's why I put in my own condition. Not only is Rip Oliver banned from ringside during the match, but so are all of the Four Families. That means the Diamond & Gold Exchange, the California Connection, even Larry and his buddies. If anyone of them shows up during the match, they get fined and suspended. That means it is just you and me, Jellyroll. When I come home from Hawaii, I am bringing back that title belt! Big Jim vs. Larry Zbyszko Larry Z has been having a lot of bad luck lately with, well, everyone. He has failed in his attempts to get back the gold ring from Roddy Piper, he is treated as a joke by the other of the Four Families, his partners the LA Express have distanced themselves from him, and lately has suffered losses to "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant. Likely looking for some revenge, Larry took on Valiant's young protégé, Big Jim. Naturally, Larry took offense at pretty much everything Big Jim, from his dancing with the fans to his offer of a handshake. It took a long time for Larry to lock up with Jim, and throughout the match, Larry did everything to avoid fighting fair, sneaking in every cheap shot and dirty tactic he could think of. Ultimately , Larry got Jim trapped in the corner, pinning him with a rollup assisted by a fistful of Jim's overalls and putting his feet on the ropes to get the one two three … only he didn't, as Jim got his shoulder up at the last second. Larry celebrated his seeming victory, only to be informed that the match was still going, then walked straight into a Big Boot from Jim. Jim got the pinfall and celebrated with the fans, while Larry threw his usual tantrum. Looks like Larry's luck continues to be out for him. Chris Adams vs. Rip Oliver Not only has Roddy Piper been hot on the heels of Buddy Rose, but Piper's good friend Chris Adams has been chasing the champion as well. For this match, Rose sent out his right hand man, "Crippler" Rip Oliver , to head Adams off at the past. Showing the veracity of his "Crippler" nickname, Oliver relentlessly went after Adams' legs, mangling them with cheap shots and leglocks and diminishing the power of the Superkick. Rose was at ringside for this match, once again observing but not interfering. Adams was not able to land the Superkick but still was able to prevail by hitting a very quick lariat for the pinfall. In contrast to his indifference at Al Madril's earlier loss, Rose nodded in approval at Oliver's efforts in spite of the loss, and helped his cohort out of the ring.

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, March 17th Jacques Rougeau vs. Ron Starr Rougeau reversed a cross body press with a rollover for the pinfall Gama Singh vs. Super Strong Machine Machine won with the Devil Windmill Suplex Scott McGhee vs. King Kong Bundy McGhee put up a tough fight but went down to Bundy's Atlantic City Avalanche Jimmy Valiant vs. Larry Zbyszko Larry was going for an over the shoulder neckbreaker, but Valiant countered with an inside cradle and got the one two three The Rock & Roll Express vs. The East-West Connection Adonis was attempting a powerslam on Gibson, but Morton dropkicked Gibson, tipping over Adonis and allowing Gibson to get the pinfall. Dick Slater vs. Matt Borne Slater won by piledriver Buddy Rose & Rip Oliver vs. Roddy Piper & Chris Adams Adams Superkicked Rose out of the ring while Piper hit a belly to back suplex on Oliver to score the victory.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, March 16th Dick Slater vs. Robb Zbacnik The previous week, Slater made his shocking debut in AWA Pacific by attacking Billy Jack Haynes and taking him out with a vicious piledriver on the concrete. Slater has clearly not lost any intensity in the days since as he tore apart Zbacnik with every nasty move in his arsenal before putting him away with not one but two piledrivers. The always unpredictable Slater is going to be an incredibly volatile ingredient in the AWA Pacific roster. Texas Red & The Spoiler vs. Ricky Gibson & Baron Von Raschke Texas Red has had a very difficult time of late with Ricky Gibson, losing matches by DQ and countout to his much smaller opponent. He wasn't going to leave any room for error this time out , bringing in his mentor the Spoiler for a tag match. Gibson partnered with Baron Von Raschke, but Red and Spoiler were determined not to let the Baron be a factor, keeping Gibson in their corner and working him over for much of the match. Any attempt by the Baron to join the fray would be shut down by the ref, leading to Red and Spoiler working over Gibson even more. Their double teams would lead to their downfall when Spoiler was holding Gibson in place for a big lariat by Red, only for Gibson to wriggle out of the way and hit Spoiler instead. Gibson rolled up Red, and Spoiler tried to break it up, only to run right into the Baron's Iron Claw. One … two … THREE! Gibson scored a huge pinfall win over Texas Red! Red and Spoiler were furious, but the pinfall was good and Gibson and Baron celebrated their victory at ringside. Mad Dog Vachon vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers The Mad Dog has been on a serious tear of late, scoring victories over Eric Embry as well as Flowers' teammate Goldie Rogers. He showed no signs of letting up as he took on the self proclaimed "King Of Canada" . Flowers clearly had no idea what to do with the Canadian legend, as no matter what he did to Vachon, the Mad Dog just kept charging back with both fists swinging. He finally went to his last resort, calling in Goldie Rogers to attack Vachon and bust him open, but this only seemed to make the Mad Dog angry, and the Diamond & Gold Exchange fled in terror. Flowers and Rogers look like they had best be on their guard if they cross paths with the Mad Dog in the future. AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The California Cowboys © vs. The Glamour Boys The young Glamour Boys have been presenting a very determined challenge for the Tag Titles of late, and the Cowboys been equally determined to keep their grip on the belts. For this match, however, it seems that the Cowboys are set to put a stop to this challenge once and for all. The Glamour Boys owned the first part of the match with their energetic, high speed offense. Like the last time they faced off, the Cowboys changed the direction of the match with a shot from Brooks' loaded elbow pad to Steve Doll. This time, though, the Cowboys didn't stop there, but rather the start of a vicious beatdown on the Glamour Boys. Orton and Brooks savagely pummeled Doll, busting him open, while knocking Simpson to the floor every time he tried to break it up. They finally polished off Doll with a crushing Spike Piledriver and stood over his body with the belts held high. What will it take to get the titles off the California Cowboys? Loser Leaves Town Match : Roddy Piper vs. Al Madril Piper has his guns trained on AWA Pacific Heavyweight Champion Buddy Rose, but Rose's ally Al Madril has just kept getting in the way. The result is that Rose threw Madril into a Loser Leaves Town challenge from Piper, much to the chagrin of Madril. While Rose was at ringside for this match, he didn't seem too interested in interfering, simple observing with a very intense look. Madril, on the other hand, was clearly panicking throughout the match, stalling and backing off from Piper every chance he got. Nothing he did could hold back Piper for long, and Piper finally got frustrated enough that he finally trapped Madril and hit a pair of belly to back suplexes for the one two three. Rose , for his part, simply shrugged and walked away from the ring as Madril was sent out of AWA Pacific. An unusually nonchalant response to losing one of his closest allies, but knowing Rose, he likely has some more devious trick up his sleeve.

Flair vs. Olympia going the distance is a match I would have loved to have seen IRL.

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , March 10th Keiichi Yamada vs. Mr. Hito Yamada won with a running cross body press The Rock & Roll Express vs. The East-West Connection In something of an upset, Morton dropkicked Ventura into a rollup by Gibson to get the victory for the Rock & Roll Express King Kong Bundy vs. Baron Von Raschke Bundy crushed the Baron with the Atlantic City Avalanche Jacques Rougeau & Phil LaFleur vs. LA Express Embry failed to notice Rougeau had blind tagged in LaFleur , and Rougeau schoolboy tripped Embry into a reverse flying cross body by LaFleur that gave the win to the youngster Billy Jack Haynes, Matt Borne & Blackjack Mulligan vs. Tony Anthony , Texas Red & The Spoiler While Borne was slugging it out with Texas Red in the ring and Blackjack and Anthony were brawling at ringside , someone charged out of the audience and yanked Billy Jack off the ring apron and attacked him before giving him a piledriver on the concrete! It was Dick Slater! As Billy Jack lay unconscious and bleeding on the floor, Slater disappeared into the crowd. Borne tried to tag out, but found his corner empty, and he ended up getting double teamed by Texas Red and the Spoiler before Red finally put him away with a flying elbow drop. AWA Pacific TV Title Match : Leo Burke © vs. Larry Zbyszko Larry tried to cut every corner and cheat every way he could to get the title from Burke but still wound up being pinned after a belly to back suplex AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Buddy Rose © vs. Roddy Piper When Piper tried to vertical suplex Rose back into the ring, he was tripped from the outside by Al Madril, who held his leg down while Rose pinned him. After the match, Piper challenged Madril to a loser leaves town match, which Rose accepted on Madril's behalf (in spite of Madril's seeming reluctance).

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , March 9th Texas Red vs. Ricky Gibson Gibson had made his Pacific debut last week at an arena show in Victoria, where he scored and upset win by DQ over Texas Red. This week would mark Gibson's first appearance on the Showcase and facing Texas Red once again, and Red was clearly out for revenge. The experienced Gibson took advantage of that, letting Red's anger goad him into recklessness, leading Gibson to be able to dodge out of the way of many high impact blows. Red's mentor, the Spoiler, tried to interfere and tip the balance in favor of Red, but this would backfire when Gibson hit a top rope dropkick on Red, sending him flying out of the ring and on top of the Spoiler. The two became so entangled that Red was unable to make it back into the ring in time, and Gibson was able to score another victory, this time by countout. Red and Spoiler were livid, and Gibson wisely dashed back to the locker room to celebrate his win. Super Strong Machine vs. Gama Singh Super Strong Machine has quickly emerged as a thorn in the side of KY Wakamatsu and his men, acting as leader to the Japanese favorites Cobra and Keiichi Yamada and rallying the fans to their side. Wakamatsu sent in the Great Gama to take down the Machine, and what resulted was a hard hitting match, with Singh's brutal takedowns and submission holds pitted against Machine's bone jarring suplexes. Machine was finally able to hit the Devil Windmill Suplex on Singh to get the three count, but you could tell that Wakamatsu was still plotting some way to take him out for good. Phil LaFleur vs. Ron Starr Young LaFleur has truly started to blossom (no pun intended) under the tutelage of Jacques Rougeau. In this match, he had to deal with the notorious "Rotten" Ron Starr. One never knows which Ron Starr will show up, the technically gifted light heavyweight or the cheating brawler. Starr kept it technical for most of the match, leading to a hot, fast paced bout with LaFleur getting several near falls and keeping Starr on the defensive for much of the match. The dirty side of Starr showed up when the ref was momentarily looking the wrong way and Starr caught LaFleur with a nasty low blow knee strike. Starr swiftly followed up with a small package to get the pinfall. A cheap win, but further proof that Starr is at his most dangerous when you aren't paying attention. Bob Orton vs. Steve Doll The new team of the Glamour Boys have been making a concerted effort to wrest the tag team titles away from the California Cowboys. For this match, one member of each team would face off in singles competition. Doll was giving up a few inches in height to the Cowboy but, perhaps getting inspiration from Ricky Gibson earlier in the show, used hit and run tactics on Orton to keep him off balance. The wily Orton wasn't at a disadvantage for long, but whatever he did to Doll, the younger wrestler kept coming back fighting. The tide turned for good when Orton ducked under a flying forearm from Doll, then nailed him with a huge lariat. He then put him on the top turnbuckle and brought him down with a Superplex to finish him off. A tough loss for Doll but it still showed that he could hang with one of the champs. Matt Borne vs. Tony Anthony A highly chaotic match with both men tearing into each other from the get go. Things got even crazier when their respective allies (Billy Jack Haynes and Blackjack Mulligan on Borne's side, The Spoiler and Texas Red on Anthony's) showed up at ringside and started brawling with each other. While this madness was going on, Anthony was able to catch Borne in the Bucksnort Blaster to get the pinfall. After the match, it was announced that both sides would meet in a 6 man tag match the next night at the Portland Memorial Coliseum. Buddy Rose & Al Madril vs. Roddy Piper & Chris Adams Buddy Rose may still be AWA Pacific Heavyweight Champion, but he has both Roddy Piper and Chris Adams very close on his heels. Both went after him during this match, but Rose seemed intent on letting his ally Al Madril soak up most of the punishment, only tagging in when his team had the advantage . He thought he was set to get rid of Piper when he was about to whip him into Madril who was standing on the apron, but Piper was only playing possum and reversed it at the last second, sending Rose crashing into Madril. As Madril tumbled to the floor, Piper rolled up the startled Rose for the one two three. This has got to put Piper in line for a title match for sure.

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria , March 3rd Texas Red vs. Ricky Gibson Ricky Gibson made his debut in AWA Pacific and gave Texas Red a heck of a fight, pulling off something of an upset when he won by DQ after he went to the top rope for a missile drop kick, only to be knocked off by The Spoiler. Both Spoiler and Red attacked Gibson after the match but he was able to grab a chair from the outside and run them off. Keiichi Yamada vs. Mr. Hito Yamada won with a top rope flying back body press Nord The Barbarian vs. Big Jim KY Wakamatsu hit Jim with his megaphone when the ref had his back turned, enabling Nord to hit a Big Boot on Jim and get the tainted pin. Tony Anthony vs. Billy Jack Haynes Billy Jack forced Anthony to give up to the Full Nelson Rock & Roll Express vs. The Zambuie Express The Rock & Rolls were just barely able to get a pinfall on Elijah Akeem after a double dropkick, but the Zambuies kept fighting with them well after the final count. CanCon & Mad Dog Vachon vs. The Diamond & Gold Exchange & King Kong Bundy In a vicious match where Vachon and Bundy kept going after each other and busted each other open, Ron Garvin was able to catch "Diamond" Timothy Flowers in a sunset flip for the three count AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Buddy Rose © vs. Chris Adams Adams won by countout after he superkicked Rogers out of the ring and the Playboy was not able to make it back in. Rose retained his title.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , March 2nd The Spoiler & Texas Red vs. John Raymond & Jed Hildebrand With Stan Hansen first suspended and now gone from AWA Pacific, it looks like Tony Anthony has brought The Spoiler into the fold to mentor his young, red-headed charge. Texas Red seemed to be paying close attention to the masked man throughout the match and followed his directions exactly when tagging in and out of the ring. He seemed particularly attentive when Spoiler walked the ropes before dropping an intense forearm blow to the back of Raymond's neck. This led to a very surprising moment when the huge Texan tried it himself and got a gasp from the crowd as he walked the top rope before driving Hildebrand down to the mat. In spite of his ornery disposition, Texas Red was able to garner some applause from the fans for this impressive athletic feat. Following orders, he then tagged in the Spoiler, who forced Hildebrand to give up to the Clawhold. Although he has taken some losses, the powerful rookie is showing considerable potential. Mad Dog Vachon vs. Eric Embry Not much has been seen of the French Canadian legend since his losses to Adrian Adonis and King Kong Bundy, but based on the results of this match, he is back with a vengeance. He tore into Embry in a way that the Flamboyant One was clearly not expecting nor prepared for. Embry struggle to worm his way out from the onslaught of the Mad Dog, but Vachon was not to be denied, polishing off Embry with a brutal running elbow smash to the head. After getting the three count, Vachon stood in the ring, as though daring Embry's partner Ron Starr to come after him, but Starr stayed in the locker room. A wise decision, given the Mad Dog's renewed aggression. AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The California Cowboys © vs. The Glamour Boys The new tag team of Steve Doll and Steve Simpson has certainly drawn a lot of female fans, but that doesn't seem to impress the rough and tumble champs Bob Orton and Tim Brooks. That said, the two rookies but in a game effort to try to take the titles. No matter what the Cowboys threw at Doll and Simpson, they just kept coming back for more. It seemed for a moment that the Glamour Boys just might pull it off when Simpson whipped Doll into Brooks for the Flying Forearm Smash, but Brooks ducked at the last moment and then nailed Simpson with the Running Elbow Smash to the face (assisted by his loaded elbow pad). Brooks then got the pinfall, but all the same, the Glamour Boys are proving themselves to be a team not to be taken lightly. Phil LaFleur & Jacques Rougeau vs. Ryan Aiken & Daniel Lue Another youngster who has been turning heads is Phil Lafleur, who looks to get a considerable boost by teaming with Jacques Rougeau of the legendary Rougeau family. This alliance might well be just the catalyst to take LaFleur to the next level as a wrestler, as the pair easily dominated Aiken and Lue and gelled immediately as a team, with smooth tags and effective double teams. The pair pretty much destroyed Lue when Rougeau had Lue in a Boston Crab and LaFleur came off the top rope with a kneedrop to the back. After the match, LaFleur was clearly psyched to have Rougeau as his new partner and Rougeau was proud of his young pupil. The Cobra, Super Strong Machine & Keiichi Yamada vs. Nord The Barbarian, Mr. Hito & Gama Singh This match between the Japanese favorites and Wakamatsu's men was as intense and chaotic as you would expect. Mostly, it was Hito and Gama against Cobra and Yamada. But when Gama tagged in the huge Barbarian, Yamada immediately brought in Super Strong Machine. Although Nord towered over the Machine, Machine was clearly not intimidated . He started lacing into the big man with brutal chops to the chest. Nord fired back with a huge backhand to the chest that would have sent anyone else flying, but Machine stood his ground. Nord tried to take him down with a big clothesline, but Machine ducked it and came back with a shoulder tackle that staggered the Barbarian. Both men kept exchanging huge shots with each other but both kept refusing to go down. In the end, Wakamatsu couldn't take it anymore and threw in his megaphone to Hito, but Hito was cut off by Cobra. This wound up descending into pure chaos with all 6 man brawling in the ring, and the ref had no choice but to declare a no contest. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Leo Burke © vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers A strong rivalry has developed between the Man Of A Thousand Holds and the leader of the Diamond & Gold Exchange. Both men have scored wins over the other, with Flowers defeating Burke to be declared "King Of Canada" by the Four Families, but Burke coming back to beat Flowers to become the first AWA Pacific Television champion. This wound up being Flowers trying as many of his dirty tricks to gain the advantage, with Burke countering with his deep technical expertise and lightning quick fists. Flowers seemed to have Burke set up for the Piledriver, but Burke countered with a small package that got a quick three count to defend his title. Flowers was clearly not satisfied with that result, as he ambushed Burke after the match, and the two continued to slug it out. Burke clearly will have to face the challenge of Flowers again before he is done with him.
