  1. AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN/TSN for May 10th Wahoo McDaniel vs. Jack Victory Wahoo was making his first appearance on All-Star since losing the Southern Tag Titles to Burke and Somers. He may no longer have the gold, but he certainly hasn’t lost any of his edge, as he tore into the young bodyguard for the Colonel’s Army, blasting him with chops and breaking him down with submission holds. When he knocked Victory to the mat and then trapped him in the Indian Deathlock, it was all over. Wahoo is clearly taking no prisoners in his efforts to get back into title contention. Da Crusher & Steven Regal vs. Kevin Sullivan & Dan Spivey Crusher and Regal had the other half of British Steel, Norman Smiley, joining them at ringside, but the Varsity Club didn’t seem to be especially concerned. The fatal flaw in Crusher’s most recent encounters with the Club has been his inability to keep from getting distracted by outside the ring shenanigans. It seemed that would be the case in the match when, after a crazy out of control conflict, Crusher started to chase Sullivan around the ring. Sullivan ducked back into the ring, looking to lure Crusher into an ambush by Spivey. Sullivan failed to notice that Regal had already back kicked Spivey out of the ring and, while Smiley held onto Spivey for dear life, Sullivan ran straight into the Iron Fist Punch that knocked him sparko. One … two … three! The crowd exploded as Regal got the upset win and Crusher jubilantly raised his arm in victory. Takashi Ishikawa & Masahiro Chono vs. The Latin Lovers With several members of the AWA currently touring Japan, JWA had sent in their stead an exciting tag team with lanky rookie Chono paired with the veteran ex-sumo Ishikawa. The Japanese duo gave a wrestling clinic with Chono showing some expert matwork with Cruz and Ishikawa hitting some big suplexes on Valentino before putting him in the Scorpion Leglock to get the victory. The crowd applauded the display of skill from these international superstars. Interview : Ken Resnick stands in the ring Resnick : Folks, my next guest managed a big victory by once again becoming the Southern champion, then shocked everyone by turning on Ivan Putski. Ladies and Gentlemen, the AWA Southern champion … “Playboy” Buddy Rose! The crowd explodes in boos as Rose, along with his cohort Ed Wiskowski, came out to the ring. Rose and Wiskowski seemed to relish the crowd’s response, laughing as they strutted down the aisle. Resnick : Playboy, the fans have been cheering you on for months , but now that you have one the AWA Southern title, you betray them and Ivan Putski in the same instant. What gives? Rose : I told all of you, I TOLD YOU! I said I wouldn’t change, and I didn’t. But all of you idiots thought I was one of your kiss up favorites and clapped your hands when I told you to. The Playboy is always out for number one, and that sure isn’t any of you chumps in the stands. Playboy After Dark has high standards, and none of you measure up. Resnick : Speaking of Playboy After Dark, now that you have clearly turned your back on Ivan Putski, there’s not a whole lot of you left. Just you and Ed Wiskowski. Rose : Not any more, Resnick. I have found just the people to join our very exclusive club. Someone who meets the Playboy’s exacting requirements! And that moron Mick Foley had best stay at the back if he knows what is good for him! (Camera cut to Mick Foley, stepping through the curtains, wearing a smoking jacket … then immediately turning around and heading back in) Some guys who have giving me some tough matches, so I know what they can do … Leo Burke and Doug Somers! (Somers and Burke head out to the ring and shake hands with Rose and Wiskowski) Rose : So you see, Resnick, Playboy After Dark have already taken over! We have the Southern champ, the Southern Tag champs, the Polish Prince … and nobody is going to stand in our way! Cpl. Scott Hall vs. Lord Humongous Lord Humongous usually towers over most of his opposition, but now he was facing someone who was more than capable of looking him right in the, err, mask. These two behemoth’s battled all over the ring, in a mighty display of power moves and whalloping clotheslines. Humongous fought hard to try to apply his modified Cobra Clutch, but Hall cut that off with a huge power slam. One execution of the Corporal Punishment later, and Hall had gotten his most impressive victory to date. One Man Gang vs. Curt Hennig Gang made a big impact in his return after spending time touring the rest of the country, and would be facing one of the up and coming superstars of the AWA. Hennig showed why he has been hotly tipped as the future of the AWA, keeping the big 747 off balance with quick jabs and dropkicks. It looked like he might just be able to pull off the upset, but one mistimed move led to Gang catching him off the ropes with a crushing side slam. One running splash later, and Gang had put an end to Hennig’s challenge. With both Gang and Rick Rude gunning for him, Orndorff had best be concerned for his title.
  2. To whom?
  3. The AWA sends the Latin Lovers (Vinnie Valentino & Javier Cruz) to Smokey Mountain for the Memphis Vice (Jerry Bryant & Lou Winston).
  4. Primarily familiar with this AWA run but I seriously loved that. I remember reading a review of the "blood on the camera lens" match with the Rockers where it was mentioned that Somers didn't do anything of note in that match. I later found that comment ironic in retrospect when I realized that my two absolute favorite moments from that match were courtesy of Somers : A) Michaels making the desperation lunge punch out of the corner and Somers just nonchalantly walking out of the way; and a bloodied Michaels desperately struggling to make the hot tag out, and Somers holding him back by his hair and laughing his ass off while he did so.Classic stuff.
  5. Burke & Somers will be part of a big story line coming up.
  6. AWA Show from Cobo Hall, Detroit, May 4th British Steel vs. The PYT Express Regal made Ware submit to the Regal Stretch Cpl. Scott Hall vs. Mick Foley Hall pinned Foley after the Corporal Punishment Curt Hennig & Greg Gagne vs. Bob Roop & Botswana Beast Gagne pinned Beast after he and Hennig hit a double dropkick AWA American Title match : Lex Luger © vs. Da Crusher Luger beat Crusher with a scoop power slam AWA Southern Tag Team Title match : Leo Burke & Doug Somers © vs. Wahoo McDaniel & Ivan Putski Burke beat Putski after a running kneedrop that followed a vertical suplex by Somers AWA World Title match : Paul Orndorff © vs. Rick Rude When Rude was going for a Rude Awakening, Orndorff countered with a backslide that got the pin. After the match, One Man Gang entered the ring and he and Rude attacked Orndorff until Ricky Steamboat came to the rescue
  7. The AWA is open to offers for Wahoo McDaniel.
  8. AWA show at the Met Center, Bloomington , May 11th (As shown on ESPN/TSN Super Cards) Wahoo McDaniel vs. Al Perez McDaniel pinned Perez after hitting him with a running overhead chop The Can-Am Express vs. Buzz Sawyer & Dave Schultz Zenk came off the top with a flying cross body press, but was caught by Buzz Sawyer, who looked set to deliver a power slam, only for LaFon to drop kick Zenk’s back and send him toppling over onto Sawyer for the pinfall Scott Hall vs. Jack Victory Hall pinned Victory after a running clothesline AWA World Tag Team Title match : The Varsity Club © vs. The Fabulous Ones Both teams went to a double countout AWA American Title match : Bad News Allen © vs. Buddy Rose After a long a bloody battle, Allen had Rose set up for the Bad News Blaster, only for Rose to duck down at the last second to send Allen flying over his head. Rose pointed to his head, indicating he had been playing possum the whole time. Rose then picked up Allen and hit the Inside Out backbreaker. One … two … three!!! Buddy Rose scored a huge upset to once again become American champ. Both members of the Brotherhood Of Poland rushed in to congratulate him. Buddy Rose gave a big hug to Ed Wiskowski, then a big hug to Ivan Putski … then hit a vicious low blow knee on Putski! He then pointed to Ed Wiskowski, who grabbed Putski and executed the face first piledriver. Rose grabbed the American Title belt and he and Wiskowski left Putski lying in the ring, laughing as they went. The fans were clearly outraged that Rose and Wiskowski had betrayed them Curt Hennig vs. Botswana Beast Beast had Hennig set up for a running, sitting splash, but Hennig rolled out of the way at the last second, and Beast landed hard on his tailbone. Hennig then gave a quick but nasty jumping neck snap that stunned Beast , and Hennig was able to get the quick pinfall Paul Orndorff, Sgt. Slaughter & Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude, Bob Roop & Lord Humongous Orndorff hit a belly to back suplex out of the corner on Roop to get the victory for his team. He didn’t have long to celebrate his victory, as a huge man charged into the ring and attacked him. It was the One Man Gang, returning to the AWA! While Roop and Humongous held of Sarge and Steamboat, Rude hit a Rude Awakening on Orndorff , followed by a big elbow drop by Gang, and the two men beat on the champ until Sarge came in swinging a chair to clear the ring
  9. AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN/TSN for May 3rd Dave Schultz vs. Phil LaFon The AWA is back from April vacation on TV after ESPN and TSN were broadcasting the International Sportsball Championship. First match up has one half of the Can-Am Express taking on the craziest member of Col. Robley’s Army (which is saying something). As is becoming something of a tradition, the match started out in confusion as Mick Foley, wearing a camouflage jacket, came out to the ring and declared himself to be the latest member of the Army, hailing from Fort Bragg, South Carolina, Corporal-Captain Mick Foley. Schultz’s partner, Buzz Sawyer , grabbed Foley by the hair and dragged him back to the locker room before returning to ringside. What followed was a classic cat-and-mouse matchup, as Schultz tried to outmuscle LaFon and LaFon used his speed and skill to duck and dodge Doctor D. This was going well for LaFon when he ducked under a clothesline by Schultz, only to be caught on the rebound with a running forearm smash. Schultz then proceeded to punish and wear down LaFon before setting him up for a Bulldog headlock, but LaFon still had enough left in him to counter with a belly to back suplex. One … two … THREE! LaFon just scored a major victory over Schultz. Sawyer rushed into the ring after the match to try to attack LaFon, but LaFon was able to dive out of the ring and celebrated with the fans Cpl. Scott Hall vs. Koko Ware The newest recruit to the Cobra Corps has been on a real tear of late. This time out, the big Corporal was taking on one half of the PYT express. Koko looked like he was trying to emulate LaFon’s game play by using his speed to escape his much larger opponent, but Scott Hall put a stop to that right away with a mighty clothesline, followed by a devastating series of slams and power moves before putting him away with the Corporal Punishment (fall away slam). Clearly great things are on the horizon for Cpl. Scott Hall Da Crusher vs. Dan Spivey The Man Who Made Milwaukee Famous continues his quest for vengeance against the Varsity Club, squaring of with their newest member, the big Georgia Bulldog Dan Spivey. Crusher was able to keep Spivey off balance with his wild, swinging lefts and rights, but kept being distracted by Spivey’s mentor, Kevin Sullivan, at ringside. At one point, Sullivan climbed up on the ring apron, only to be knocked back down by a Bolo punch from Crusher. When Crusher turned his attention back to his opponent, Spivey bowled him over with a Big Boot. Spivey followed up with a running leg drop to get the pin. Crusher is going to have to focus if he wants to make any headway against the Varsity Club. Sgt. Slaughter vs. Lord Humongous Sarge is currently waging a war of his own against the Sinister Syndicate, and this time out was doing battle with the man in the hockey mask, Lord Humongous. Humongous might not be the most polished of competitors, but his size and power meant that he was able to hold his own against the tough drill sergeant. After a battle that raged back and forth, it looked like Humongous would try to humiliate Sarge by making him submit to his own modified Cobra Clutch, but Sarge fought his way out with some jarring elbow shots to the midsection, followed by nailing him with the Slaughter Cannon to get the quick pin. The crowd cheered his hard fought victory as Sarge saluted the fans. Lex Luger & Rick Rude vs. The Latin Lovers Sarge may have declared war on the Syndicate, but Sheikh Kaissie has recruited some intimidating soldiers of his own in the American champ Lex Luger and the up and coming Rick Rude. The two muscular titans overwhelmed Valentino and Cruz with their power based offense before Rude polished off Valentino with the Rude Awakening neckbreaker. This was not enough for the Syndicate, as Luger put Cruz in the Human Torture Rack after the match until the ref threatened him with suspension. Only time will tell what will happen when Sarge and the world champ Paul Orndorff have to face this deadly duo. AWA World Tag Team Title match : The Varsity Club © vs. Badd Company While the in ring action for this match was spectacular, with Badd Company’s speed and double team moves matching up with the Varsity Club’s power and aray of suplexes, it threatened to be overshadowed by the happenings outside the ring. At first, it was the Fabulous One showing up at the back of the arena and seeming to take notes on both teams. Then, the steady stream of trash talk between Sunshine and Missy Hyatt escalated into a full on confrontation that got both teams involved, and let to a double countout decision. As disappointing end to the match, but this is not likely to be the last time these two teams will face off.
  10. I really wish I have seen more of Apache. I've only seen a few matches, but ones that I have are all prime rib.
  11. Gran Apache has passed from cancer at the age of 58.
  12. All sounds good to me.
  13. How do you get the type of injury?
  14. Going to sort this out in PM, sorry for bringing this up in public.
  15. Just going to start with the disclaimer that this may seem a bit rich coming from the guy who is consistently a month behind, however ... I know that the WWF did run those buildings in real life. But this isn't real life. The WWF did this as part of a move towards not just expansion but aggressive expansion that pushed into a lot of promoters existing territories and was seen by many people (including those promoters) as an attempt to take over and run them out of business. I am sure that is not your intention, but imitation of this aspect of WWF expansion I feel goes against the spirit of benign coexistence that we have tried to maintain in this project. Your expansion looks to have included about 50 new towns or so. Included in these are 3 of the 4 towns in which I am running my TV show loop, in the very same building. You may well be moving into towns and buildings being used by other territories as well. I am all for expansion, but this is going beyond expansion into encroachment on already established territories. I don't think I am asking too much here. I am just asking that, in your expansion, you stay out of the territory that I have already homesteaded.
  16. AWA Show at the Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg, Mar. 29th (as shown on ESPN/TSN Super Cards) Scott Hall vs. Jack Victory Hall won with a side suplex Steven Regal vs. Mick Foley Regal pinned Foley after a Regal Roll The Fabulous Ones vs. The PYT Express Keirn hit a spinebuster slam on Brickhouse for the victory Dan Spivey vs. Norman Smiley Spivey got the win after a huge running leg drop Curt Hennig & Greg Gagne vs. Bob Roop & Botswana Beast Gagne dropkicked Roop into a belly to back suplex by Hennig to get the pinfall AWA Southern Tag Title match : Wahoo McDaniel & Ronnie Garvin © vs. Leo Burke & Doug Somers Garvin had Burke lined up for the Hands Of Stone punch, only for Burke to dodge it and hit his own whalloping right cross that knocked Garvin cold. One ... two ... THREE! Burke and Somers are the new Southern Tag champs! Paul Orndorff & Sgt. Slaughter vs. Killer Khan & Lord Humongous Sarge was about to lock Khan in the Cobra Clutch when two men attacked him from behind, causing a DQ. It was Rick Rude and Lex Luger! They joined the other members of the Sinister Syndicate in beating down Sarge and the World champ until Scott Hall, Curt Hennig and Greg Gagne charged to the ring , swinging chairs. Luger and Rude joined the Sheikh's men as they left the ring. If this is what Sheikh Kaissie meant when he said he was calling in some favors, these are impressive favors indeed. AWA Canadian Title match : Rick Martel © vs. Jacques Rougeau Rougeau had recently taken Martel to the limit in a recent match in Quebec that went almost 45 minutes. This one went all the way to 35 minutes when Rogueau went for a top rope splash, only for Martel to get his knees up at the last second before getting the pin. Both exhausted men embraced as the fans cheered their amazing display of wrestling prowess and fortitude.
  17. AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN/TSN for March 29th Al Perez vs. Javier Cruz Perez was now taking on the other half of hist former tag team, the Latin Lovers. There was some confusion at the begining of the match when the introduction of Perez was cut off by a voice over the PA : "... aaaaaand introducing his partner, the other half of the Latin Assassins, from San Juan, Puerto Rico ... "The Cuban Assassin" Mick Foley!!!!" Once again, Foley walked out to the ring with his own microphone, this time with his hair slicked back and wearing a leather jacked with Latin Assassins on the back. Perez was livid at this interruption and it was all the ref could do to prevent him from attacking Foley before ordering the rookie to head back to the locker room. Perez proceeded to take his annoyance out on Cruz, destroying him with a series of brutal slams before dropping him on his head with a nasty German Suplex for the win. Perez is clearly out to prove that he has still got it, and Foley had best stay out of his way. AWA American Title Match : Lex Luger © vs. Greg Gagne Strangely, neither Kevin Sullivan nor the rest of the Varsity Club came out with Luger for this title defense. Gagne showed why he was a long time favorite of the AWA fans as he came incredibly close to getting the pin on Luger on a number of occasions, countering the champions power moves with textbook submission attempts and technical wrestling. In the end, Gagne's attempt to put the Gagne Leglock on Luger was countered by an inside cradle that got a quick three count to end the match. An impressive defense for Luger, but an equally impressive challenge put up by Gagne. AWA World Tag Title Match : The Varsity Club (Mike Rotundo & Rick Steiner) © vs. Badd Company This was the first title defense in a while from the Club, as Steiner was returning from a tour of Japan where he had turned a lot of heads. They were in for a tough challenge, as Badd Company have really been on fire of late. They really took the fight to their much bigger opponents, dazzling the fans with rapid fire tags and combination moves. The Varsity Club decided to take a short cut to gain the upper hand as their cheerleader, Missy Hyatt, tripped Pat Tanaka when he was running the ropes and sent him face first to the mat. The smug look on her face, however, was swiftly wiped off when someone tackled her from behind and sent the to the floor. It was an unknown blonde woman who immediately started whaling on Missy with open handed shots. The Varsity Club came over to break it up, only for Badd Company to get involved in the fray. It was only when the AWA officials finally got both sides separated that one could get a clear look at the mystery interloper. It was Sunshine! She hasn't been seen in the AWA in over a year. It looks like she is now affiliating herself with Badd Company as she joined Diamond and Tanaka as they headed back to the locker room Rick Rude vs. Curt Hennig It was Robbinsdale on Robbinsdale violence as the two native Minnesotans did battle. Rude was making his first appearance since his Final Battle with Buddy Rose, and the result of that match clearly didn't sit well with him as he had a particularly vicious edge to his moves. There were no other members of the Bad News Breakers at ringside as he took it to Hennig, who had to fight back hard to try to keep the Ravishing One contained. The momentum swung back and forth throughout the match and it looked like Hennig was finally going to get the win when he had Rude set up for a cradle suplex, but Rude broke it up with a savage face rake that was just out of view of the ref. He then booted Hennig in the midsection and hit a nasty Rude Awakening to get the shocking pin. Rick Martel & Ronnie Garvin vs. Leo Burke & Doug Somers This was a 3/4 Canadian match with Doug Somers being the only Canadian as he and his partner, the self proclaimed "Greatest Canadian" Leo Burke, squared off with the Canadian champ and the man with the Hands Of Stone. This wound up being a crazy brawl, with Burke wanting to throw down with both Martel and Garvin. Garvin looked like he would take the match when he hit is trademark Sunset Flip out of the corner, only for Burke to counter it with a fistful of tights and get the tainted victory for his team. Garvin had best be concerned for his grip on the Southern tag title now, with Burke and Somers clearly willing to do anything to win.
  18. AWA Show at the Mecca, Milwaukee, March 15th (as shown on ESPN/TSN Super Cards) Cpl. Scott Hall vs. Brickhouse Brown Hall won with a fall away slam Ricky Steamboat vs. Mike Shaw Steamboat won by countout after hitting a top rope flying cross body press on the outside Greg Gagne vs. Mick Foley Gagne made Foley submit to the Gagne Sleeper Badd Company vs. Mike Rotundo & Dan Spivey The Varsity Club won after interference by Missy Hyatt led to Spivey hitting Tanaka with a running knee to the side of the head AWA American Title match : Lex Luger © vs. Ronnie Garvin Luger won with a scoop power slam Da Crusher vs. Kevin Sullivan Both men went to a double DQ finish Paul Orndorff & Sgt. Slaughter vs. Killer Khan & Lord Humongous Slaughter hit a spine snapper on Humongous, followed by a second rope knee drop by Orndorff to get the victory
  19. AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN/TSN for March 15th Da Crusher, Norman Smiley & Badd Company vs. The Varsity Club (Kevin Sullivan, Mike Rotundo, Lex Luger & ? w/ Missy Hyatt) With both Steven Regal and Rick Steiner currently on a tour of Japan, all eyes were on the Varsity Club as to who would fill out their team for this match. Sullivan looked well pleased with himself as he started to introduce the latest member of the Varsity Club .... and was annoyed when a voice cut him off from over the PA. "From the State University of New York at Cortland Red Dragons, hailing from East Setauket, Long Island, the newest member of the Varsity Club ... Mick Foley!" Foley then trouped out to the ring, with a microphone in one hand and a lacrosse stick in the other, wearing a collegiate wrestling singlet and letterman jacket with the SUNY emblem on it. He looked very keen to join in the match, but Sullivan and the rest of the club let him know that his presence was not appreciated, and that he was to return to the locker room if he knew what was good for him. Foley returned to the locker room with a forlorn look on his face, and Sullivan, composing himself, got back on the mic. "From the University of Georgia Bulldogs, the *real* latest member of the Varisty Club ... Dan Spivey!" Now this was a truly impressive new addition. The blonde giant towered over the opposing team, who quickly huddled to discuss how to deal with this leviathan. In spite of this, Da Crusher and he team gave as good as they got, compensating for the size disadvantage with quick tags and double team moves. It wound up being an outside factor, namely Missy Hyatt , that spelled the end of the match, as she tripped Smiley coming off the ropes and sent him face first into the match. Spivel followed up with a massive legdrop to the back of Smiley's head and that was that. Badd Company seemed to want to argue with Hyatt post-match for her interference, but the other members of the Varsity Club interposed themselves between Diamond & Tanaka and their cheerleader. Ricky Steamboat vs. Jack Victory Once again, Steamboat showed how he is still a force to be reckoned with as he took on the bodyguard of Col. Robley's Army. Jack Victory actually gave a pretty good accounting himself, with the powerfully built rookie keeping pace with Steamboat throughout the match. In the end, however, Steamboat came off the top rope with a flying cross body press to get the victory over, errr, Victory. Buck Robley was clearly displeased with this result and seemed to be plotting something against Steamboat as he led Victory from the ring. AWA Southern Title Match : Bad News Allen © vs. Buddy Rose Fresh off getting the victory in his Final Battle with Rick Rude, Rose looks to have set his cap towards once more becoming AWA Southern champion. He certainly had his work cut out for him, as the current champ had no intention of stepping aside for the Playboy. On a few occasions, it looked like Allen had Rose set up for the Bad News Blaster, but the canny Rose would throw himself out of the ring and leave Allen furious. Allen in turn managed to escape the Inside Out Back Breaker through some big closed fists. In the end, neither man would be able to hit their finisher as the bell rang to signal a 15 minute time limit draw. I don't think we have seen the last of this match up. AWA Southern Tag Title Match : Wahoo McDaniel & Ronnie Garvin © vs. Doug Somers & Leo Burke Also looking to get their hands on some gold are Allen's stable mates, Somers and Burke, who really took it to the current Southern Tag champs in a furious bare knuckle match up. Garvin and McDaniel certainly weren't intimidated by the Bad News Breakers, and defended their titles with hard punches and nasty chops, but Somers and Burke just kept after them. Garvin was finally able to hit a sunset flip out of the corner on Somers to get the win, but Somers and Burke looked set to keep things going after the final bell. Sgt. Slaughter vs. Mr. Olympia Slaughter had Cpl. Scott Hall in his corner, to ensure no interference from the other members of the Sinister Syndicate. It didn't take him too long to dispatch Olympia, as he knocked the masked man from pillar to post before flattening him with the Slaughter Cannon. But clearly , Sarge was out to make a statement, as he picked up Olympia and locked him in the Cobra Clutch, before uncermoniously dropping him to the mat when the ref called the end of the match. Sheikh Kaissie was clearly angry but also had a calculating look on his face that would seem to indicate he had something up his sleeve that he would pull out when the time was right.
  20. AWA show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum, Feb. 9th Norman Smiley vs. Mick Foley Smiley made Foley submit to the Norman Conquest Leo Burke & Doug Somers vs. The Latin Lovers Burke pinned Valentino after catching him in a power slam off the ropes AWA Six Man Tag Team Title Match : Mike Shaw, Dave Schultz & Buzz Sawyer vs. Ricky Steamboat & The Can-Am Express Schultz knocked Zenk off the top rope with a clothesline and then pinned him with a diving elbow smash Sgt. Slaughter, Cpl. Scott Hall & Curt Hennig vs. Botsawna Beast, Bob Roop & Mr. Olympia Slaughter and Hennig flattened Olympia with a double lariat then got the pinfall AWA World Title Match : Paul Orndorff © vs. Killer Khan Orndorff hit a sunset flip out of the corner on Khan to succesfully defend his belt The Final Battle : Buddy Rose vs. Rick Rude After a long and bloody battle, Rude tried to hit the DDT to put away Rose, but the Playboy dug in and kept blocking it until he was finally able to reverse it into the Inside Out Backbreaker and get the Final Victory over his rival.
  21. The Syndicate have some aces of their own to pull out of their sleeves when the time is right.
  22. Only hitch is that haircut would have never passed Marine Corps muster, but I'll spot him a mulligan on that.
  23. My inspiration was actually from a podcast discussing, I believe, the AWA 80s set. The discussion was on who would have been a better pick to be Slaughter's trainee than "Rambo" Greg Gagne. The suggestions included Hulk Hogan (not in the AWA at the same time) and Curt Hennig (not quite the right fit in my books) , and then somebody suggested Scott Hall. I thought this was a genius idea, with the green but powerful Hall pairing up with the more experienced Sarge, and has been waiting forever to try it out.
  24. There is a possiblity, based on the brackets, that Rick Rude and Buddy Rose could face each other in the 3rd round. Although the AWA has declared that the San Francisco and Portland matches would be the final matches would be the final times these two face off, this potential matchup would not be covered by the stipulation as it is outside the AWA.
