  1. Hogan/Warrior try to hype up the main event but it doesnt feel very sincere and the promotion seems rushed to get this match as over as quickly as possible.
  2. This worked as a traditional tag is really perplexing given the stip and participants. I do always love the drink spot that the Nasty gives. Big win and pop for the win for the Roadies.
  3. Jimmy Hart was great here as the all worked up manager hating to see what was happening to his charge. The Mountie vignettes are classic of course with the "heres the finger" line. I love these intermission segments from the old PPV's even though they are essentially filler.
  4. Match is decent but they didn't have tremendous chemistry in the ring together and there was some near botches mixed in. Post match angle is where this really comes into play.
  5. Glad we at least got clips of this match and it does feel important and mix in some good spots. The fireball felt like a big moment and logical to me. Great setup for next chapter in the feud.
  6. Wow I liked this more than the mini's match and Santo is having quite the year. Psicosis heeling it up is pretty great and he took numerous psychotic bumps in this match to the outside. The santo dive to the back of the head of Psicosis was insane as was the diving senton to a pron Psic on the floor. Finishing sequence mixed in some great drama and intrigue and I loved the finish of Psicosis seeing an out with the low blow and taking full advantage of it.
  7. A tremendously executed match and able to toe the line of looking like a beautiful painting of a match without seeming like a choreographed performance. Some comedy was mixed in and great counter wrestling and high flying. Each fall took a natural progression and ended when it should have. A treat to watch.
  8. Didn't see a thread for stuff to maybe add to the errata set but the Legends presentation from Badd Blood is a cool 10 minute ceremony with some huge names in the ring at one time.
  9. Outstanding promo but really where I feel the Flair in 1997 stuff goes awry. I have again been defending both the NWO parody and the Hennig turn and can get behind everything Ric says here about Curt and the wake up call that was needed. The Hogan stuff is again him addressing Hogan but it feels really muddled with everything else going on with Hulk. The lines from Flair is great though. Him disbanding the Horseman could have been used for dramatic effect if the Horseman would have stuck together the next week but feels really hollow when looking back in retrospect. Again Tony plays this off magnificently and adds to the gravity of the moment.
  10. Hall and Nash have been a part for a while now. Hall does his survey and the Mass crowd is totally pro NWO at this moment.
  11. I loved those lucha vignettes they aired with Tenay. I liked how the announcers didn't act totally dumb on this as it was obvious it was Eddy. He bullies around Rey for a while but Rey is able to pull out the win with a great double springboard move. Fun way to get the angle kickstarted.
  12. Bret has been almost non existent on the yearbook since winning the title. This did a great job of showing how Shawn wont be able to run on Sunday as he keeps escaping here. We get a glimpse of Kane in a neat moment and the damage Taker can inflict with him tombstoning HHH on the entranceway.
  13. Owen 3:16 makes its debut. Austin is hiding in his first other professional outfit as a riot squad member and he gives Owen a stunner to the shear delight of the crowd.
  14. Damn I had forgotten how much magic these two had in Fall 1997 as this is a great segment to allow Austin to do his thing without wrestling in any matches. Vince lays out three options for Austin and the crowd is wanting Austin to get physical again.
  15. That laser thing was ridiculous. Never remember seeing them in the stores. So long Pillman, tough segment to remember you on.
  16. We get another great production piece for 1997 WWF. They really get over how Farooq had to overcome the odds to achieve success and make him feel like a big sports star in the WWF. The IC belt hype is really good.
  17. Shawn at least carries around the European belt. Him clowning Vince and then Slaughter was great stuff. We get the set up for the DX vs. Hart Foundation stuff which seems like it would have been a long term stable feud if the status quo had remained.
  18. I liked the sirens giving the match an inevitable dread to it. Visual was stunning too. You could tell Wing was really hampered by the injury but he gutted through and Onita is able to take home the hard fought victory.
  19. Two beefy dudes throwing bombs and having a fight for 15 minutes. The powerbomb Awesome took to the floor was legitimately frightening. I did think things tended to get a little excessive here but this was a great slugfest match that didn't overstay its welcome and did feature some selling. Can't wait to see the rest of this feud develop since its been a while since I revisited.
  20. Bahu has this as the #5 FMW match of all time which seems nuts but it was a very good tag match and again bolsters Kobashi who again feels like he is quietly having a strong year overall with some unique opponents (Hase, these two). The match took a much more structural tone and was perfect to be third from the top in a huge show.
  21. I found it striking in this match how much of a personal dilemma the HHH vs. Cactus match felt like and therefore the garbage spots drew me in a lot more. I will give Styles some props in this match as he created an interesting narrative of these being the three main tag teams in ECW in the past two years. The balcony dive, guitar shot, and Kronus 450 to end it was all impressive but I was sad to see the Dudleys lose.
  22. No, Misawa was active up until the split including some good matches at the 2000 Carnival.
  23. I could watch these two go back and forth all day. Han knows how to maximize everything he does and makes the tiniest transitions look like dangerous propositions. Tamura getting the win here feels like a big moment. Only have this a slight step behind the January match.
  24. So this is why they keep playing Benoit with the concussion up on Nitro. Pretty cool to see all these big names in one spot and I liked the LIger and Dr. Wagner interactions. Jericho looked like we were close to absolute disaster with the spot with Benoit on the apron. I enjoyed this being on the set as it was a good match and we haven't gotten much junior action. This at least showed that Liger was still looking good in a year where he could conceivably be a top 10 worker in the world overall.
  25. Shawn wants a fan to ask their momma if he is gay. Taker gets called out and makes an appearance but he gets cheapshotted by the rest of DX( still no name yet). They really built up well you wanting to see Shawn get his ass kicked.
