I know you're posting away happily, but I do think a lot of the disconnect in this thread is that you're so focused on the 80s-90s, when most of us feel like there still hasn't been enough examination of the golden age (whether or not you stretch that to the 70s, and I think there's still a lot to see in that decade). We're still in a period where it feels like only a handful of people have gone through the 50s-70s footage which is why @SAMS doing so chronologically is so valuable. It would be like if we suddenly got a ton of 60s-70s Kansas City and someone came along and really wanted to focus on the last few years of Central States instead. 80s Flesh Gordon is probably a little better than 80s Bob Brown, but it's still maddening in the same way.

OJ is OJ. That said, it's funny because when I rewatched Catanzaro vs Cesca for the first time in years at the very end of my project, I was a little disappointed that it was so straight a match. The later Catanzaro was so much more on my mind.

Over at Segunda Caida, our way of focusing on AEW is to hone in on Danielson, Darby, Dustin, Punk, and Kingston. From your review of the tag, I’d consider that were I you. Maybe start with the Blue League of the Continental Classic from last year?

Bordes helps to carry the back quarter of the footage and if someone had him on their GWE list at 65, I wouldn’t question it

As a compromise, it’s really good for the first 2-3 minutes to ensure you know who is who. Also between falls sometimes.

I certainly see reasons to criticize him but I think he has his positive qualities too. He’s a folk hero; there are always pros and cons to those.

Ten years from now (with a footage perspective) we’re all going to look back with relief that Athena was anchoring ROH for so long instead of wasted on Dynamite. I can see why people are frustrated in the moment though.

I saw all the 86 TV. You were just as likely to get Mad Maxx and Super Maxx as you were to get Maeda or Fujiwara.

Whenever he doesn’t hit a Death Valley Driver in the first four minutes of a match, that’s the best decision he’s ever made.

I can confirm that we were mainly searching by the title of the full length TV shows or barring that for full matches. And obviously that bore incredible fruit. Just logically, one would think that if a British wrestler would give you that many clips, a French wrestler (like Ami Sola or Jo Labat for instance, who were featured heavily in the early part of the footage) might get you even more, but who knows. We haven't been in there for a while.

They better have Mercedes in a box at this rate. I was optimistic coming into this one because I sure do like No Elite Wrestling and I was digging the card on paper, but…. if nothing else, this is Eddie’s moment to truly be an ace.
