Loss
Cactus panders to the New York crowd before the match. He really wants an Olympic Rules wrestling match. 9-1-1 is the ref. There's a lot of pre-match stuff, but the match proper is pretty short, which doesn't bother me, as I am ready to put 1995 behind me. I'm guessing this is their last match against each other. Not as good as their match in January, which ain't saying much. Sayonara, 1995.
PeteF3
Oh, Cactus, you completely swerved me with that opening promo. He kisses up to the New York crowd and tells a meandering story about the crippled regular at ECW Arena trying to get a ride to Queens, and I'm mentally cursing him for betraying his heel character...before he declares that this will be an Olympic rules match. Ha. He even brings Pee Wee Moore out to go over the amateur point system, but 911 puts a stop to that. I was thinking Alfonso should have gotten that spot *and* we should have had some token Olympic matwork to at least start off, but with Taz in the picture now, having 911 chokeslam Fonzie to oblivion becomes a little more complicated. Sadly this turns into just another ECW brawl--entertaining, and an improvement over some of their earlier stuff, but as much as I love the anti-hardcore gimmick it absolutely kills things that Foley refuses to commit to it. This could have been so much more effective if Foley could have brought more headlocks and given us a compelling reason for him to switch to chairs and tables. And with that, 1995 is out. And really not a moment too soon. Award time and then it's off to 1996, which should be a lot better.
