WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Axl Rotten.

WWE is saddened to learn of reports that Brian Knighton, best known for competing in ECW as Axl Rotten from 1993 to 1999, has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Knighton’s family, friends and fans.

Shitty. I know he had some health problems but last I heard it sounded like he was getting his life back together.

So that means that he was 19 when he was in WCW then. I always thought he was quite a lot older, which makes it even more sad. RIP.

I enjoyed Axl with Balls; and his series with Ian was like the Guerrero-Malenko series for death matches.

EDIT: Actually, they corrected it - he was indeed found in a McDonald's near the hotel he was staying in.

I know the guy was trying to keep clean, so I'm really hoping it wasn't a relapse. I'd really hate to see that for his lasting memory.

Axl was on Cabana's podcast maybe a year ago now, talking about overcoming his addiction problems. This seems particularly tragic in that light.
