Zenjo
There are a couple of really interesting points in there that I didn't realise regarding the referee's and their enforcement of the rules. Firstly holding back the arm of the tecnico when they're about to punch. Secondly not allowing tags when the outgoing wrestler is in a hold. Obviously both of these are heat building devices. I was quite happy to accept it as the heel referee being biased and favouring the rudo's wherever possible. Now that I've found out that both these actions are justified by the rulebook, I can rest assured that El Tirantes and Gran Davies were as honest as the day is long. Ship Canal
This is great and really helpful, thanks for posting it! Does the no punches or kicks for tecnico's still apply as a blanket thing in modern CMLL or is it more of a big match thing? I've watched a fair bit in the last few months and I'm now racking my brain to remember if the dynamic is still there, for some reason despite how recently I've viewed the matches I'm wondering if I've somehow never noticed this was a thing! Cap
Super helpful. I have been watching a lot of lucha lately and picked much of this up, but there was still a lot learned in the short piece.
