rainmakerrtv
AWA Super Clash 1984 from the Metrodome, Minneapolis (as shown on a special edition of ESPN/TSN Super Cards) 20 man $5000 Battle Royal including : Da Crusher, Greg Gagne, Jerry Blackwell, Ron Garvin, Phil Lafon, Vinnie Valentino, Paul Diamond, Pat Tanaka, Javier Cruz, Tom Zenk , Wahoo McDaniel, Mr. Olympia, Rip Oliver, Bob Sweetan, Al Perez, Angel Acevedo, Dave Schultz, Buzz Sawyer, Mike Shaw, Bob Roop It came down to the Final Four of Da Crusher, Jerry Blackwell, Dave Schultz and Buzz Sawyer. The Army were able to get out Blackwell, after much effort, with a double clothesline then turned their attention to "The Man Who Made Milwaukee Famous". Crusher put up an heroic effort but could not beat the numbers when the Army double backdropped him over the top rope to eliminate him. The two partners then looked set to tear into each other but Col. Buck Robley swiftly intervened and convinced the two partners to split the money and the victory. The ref wasn't about to argue with them , so the (co-) winners are Buzz Sawyer and Dave Schultz. Steven Regal vs. Sheikh Adnan Kaissie Kaissie tried to bully Regal throughout the match but Regal came back with the Iron Fist punch to knock out Kaissie and get the win. The PYT Express vs. The Brotherhood Of Poland The PYT Express hit a combination of a legsweep by Brickhouse and a dropkick by Koko on Wiskowski to get the win. Lord Humongous vs. Mike Rotunda When Sheikh Kaissie tried to interfere , Steven Regal intercepted him with a tackle to the ground, and with Humongous distracted by this, Rotunda caught him with a roll up for the one-two-three . Don Muraco & Bad News Allen vs. Curt Hennig & Ricky Steamboat Steamboat had Bad News lined up for the top rope flying cross body press, but Muraco shoved him hard from behind off the top turnbuckle and sent him crashing to the mat. Bad News then gave Steamboat a big running fistdrop for the dirty win. Loser Leaves Town Match : Buddy Rose vs. Eddie Gilbert As crazy a match as you can imagine, Gilbert was ready to hit Rose with the Hot Shot, but the Playboy cut it off with a big elbow shot to the face, then got the Inside Out Backbreaker for the win and sent Hot Stuff packing from the AWA. AWA World Tag Title Double-Chain Match : The Road Warriors © vs. Kamala & The Botswana Beast In an extemely bloody brawl, the Roadies finally got Kamala down with a chain assisted double clothesline to get the hard fought victory. AWA World Title match : Ken Patera © vs. Paul Orndorff Orndorff had been gunning for Patera for a while but had to fight his way through the Sinister Syndicate to get to him. He finally had Patera and the World Title in his sights. Patera spent much of the match working over Orndorff's arm and shoulder, trying to take away the Piledriver and set him up for the Full Nelson. Orndorff fought back hard, matching the champ hold for hold and power move for power move. Patera kept trying to hook the Full Nelson on him, but Orndorff was always able to wriggle free or power out before he could get it cinched in. Patera finally got him on his shoulder and ready for the powerslam into the corner turnbuckle that had dispatched so many challengers before. Orndorff, however, was able to get free with a slidedown of his back, and Patera went hard , chest first, into the corner turnbuckle and went backwards into a massive belly-to-back suplex by Orndorff that shook the ring. One ... two ... THREE!!!! Orndorff won the match and is the new AWA World Champion. Curt Hennig, Ricky Steamboat, Greg Gagne, Mike Rotunda and many other wrestlers rushed the ring to congratulate the new champ and hoist him on their shoulders as the fans cheered on. rainmakerrtv
I always try, when possible, to give a spotlight for wrestlers when they wrestle in their home town or places where they have a lot of history : Bad News in Calgary, the Road Warriors in Chicago, Crusher in Milwaukee, Buddy Rose and Curt Hennig in Portland and San Francisco, etc.

kevinmcfl
It will be interesting to see if Paul Orndoff turns into Mr. Wonderful now that he is the champ. Either way he is a great choice and he plays both the heel and babyface so well. Whoever becomes your challenger they will have their hands full.
