--It's been mentioned before in the Observer newsletter, but when it comes to the future of pro wrestling in the U.S., long-term, one of the biggest, if not the biggest story that nobody is talking about is the attempt by Emilio Azcarraga Jean to purchase Univision. Azcarraga worked with Antonio Pena in starting AAA on Televisa in 1992, and a wrestling show on Univision in a good time slot would probably be, immediately, the second most watched pro wrestling show in the country. Plus, with Latinos attending WWE at a far greater ratio than any other demographic group today, a good promotion would immediately became a major house show force in many major markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, San Jose, Houston, Dallas and even Atlanta So far this season, Univision was the 5th most watched network in prime time with the average show getting 3.95 million viewers, well ahead of WB and UPN (3.2 million each). USA is around 2.5 million.

This could realistically spark another wrestling war far more than TNA's existence could, considering that WWE has really made attempts to tap into the Hispanic market in the past few years, it's currently their fastest growing market and lucha libre has traditionally drawn better than WWE in the cities Meltzer mentioned.
