superkix
On paper, this should be a complete hossfest -- in execution, however, it's a little disappointing. I really liked the tension behind the lock ups, building to when Albright starts wailing on him with elbows in the ropes. He does manage a belly-to-belly suplex on Vader but that's the only suplex we get in this match, despite Albright briefly getting him in a full nelson. The match plods along with Vader going for choke sleepers until he finally gets one locked on for the submission. Not the kind of match you want from these two. Calvin
This is for Vader's Pro-Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship. Japan sure loved their miniature titles. First time match-up, and it's mostly them battling for positioning and holds instead of stiffing the shit out of each other, but I guess the super-heavies aren't exempt from adhering to the promotional house style. It's not a bad match at all - there are glimpses of a really good match here, but it never really comes together. **3/
Superstar Sleeze
Real World Heavyweight Champion Super Vader vs Gary Albright - UWFi 1/16/95 These two big muthas drew over 16k to the Budokan, pretty good for a dying promotion. It outdrew the third match in the Vader/Takada trilogy. Also a fact that blows mind is that Vader is simultaneously the WCW US Champion and feuding with Hulk Hogan. For the first like 5-6 minutes, I thought I was watching a lost classic. They do run of steam for a couple minutes but the last minute is a rousing finish. That first 5-6 minutes is GLORIOUS~! This is what pro wrestling is missing. BIG FIGHT FEEL! So competitive, dripping with struggle. Honestly I thought Albright outwrestled Vader here and Vader did not have an answer for Albright. Albright was landing the heavier blows and commanding the Ring. He was crowding Vader in the ropes. Great short knew that had you wondering was that a little low. Great sell by Vader. Vader got a pretty good sounding shot in retaliation that Albright sold pretty well but it was like a 7 on Vader Scale and I wanted a little more. Albright came back and BLASTED Vader with a forearm! Japanese crowd is popping huge for Albright. Vader came back with something like a 5 on Vader scale but Albright sold it well. Cmon Vader bring it brutha. Albright hooks him up and I love this Japanese audience you can audibly hear them anticipating the suplex. Beautiful belly to belly throw into the cross arm breaker. Great clasp by Vader. He shifts his weight gets a guillotine choke but Albright the amateur stud knows how to get out and get a Full Nelson. Vader gets the rope for the reset. They were on trajectory to **** 1/4 - ****1/2 right there. They just lost it. Albright went in for a tentative takedown easily defended by Vader who applied a rear naked choke. Back to the ropes. They did it again. All the heat just died. Then in the last minute Albright just showered him with stiff forearms got me and Japanese back in it. Teased the German. Japanese were hooked. Vader breaks the grasp. HE FUCKING CLOCKS ALBRIGHT! NOW THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! A FUCKING TEN ON THE VADER SCALE! He fucks ear boxes and basically cracks Albright right in the side of the head. Rear naked choke finishes it. I wish we got a power bomb. It is a damn good hoss fight. They don’t make them like this anymore. ***3/
