NovaCVO said: "Makabe is a self taught backyard wrestler who finally broke it big in 3-2-1 Battle! With his series against top 50 GWE contender Timothy Thatcher.

His style is based on having emotional, sub 20 minute matches full of joint manipulation and realistic grappling and selling all leading to a highspot that shows the direction of the match.

He was having a breakout year before the pandemic hit, but in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 he was an obvious top 20 WOTY candidate. His sample size has decreased currently as he is impacted heavily by COVID as he is a Western Canadian while the Eastern US is where the indies are booming."

Dan is winding down his career, but doing it super strong, his fifth match with Thatcher at DEAN~! was arguably his strongest, and he has Sabre Jr. this weekend. One of the most thoughtful wrestlers around, always coming up with new interesting twists on his formula.

Makabe/Thatcher is my working MOTY so far, and he's a guy I've never been disappointed by when I watch his matches. Whether there's enough meat on the bone to justify a top 100 spot is tricky, but he's very much on my "IWTV Search Bar" list of guys I'll be dipping into shows to watch more of for this project.

No.

"Makabe is a self taught backyard wrestler..." yes, I have eyes. I can see that.

Benefits from the low-expectations of indies. If I paid my 10 bucks and saw this guy in a gym in front of 50 other people, I'm sure I would pleasantly surprised and he'd probably be one of the best workers on the show. His act is fairly clean and he avoids a lot of pitfalls that other indie workers fall into. But come on, top 100 of all time? The guy is clearly a competent amateur. It honestly not fair on the guy to put him in those conversations.

I think despite not clicking with me his work not clicking with all the time is worthy of consideration of a top 100 level spot. He is really great at the details and quirksin his match especially compared to alot modern wrestlers.

Especially if you count backyard wrestling as part of a case helper Daniel Makabe has that. I think he really fit in with the more well known technical wrestling stars in the world.
