Control21
A little while back, I worked on a list of rookies for 1990. I used a combination of The Top Ranked Pro Wrestlers by Rookie Year-1990 (ainsworthsports.com) and Category:1990 debuts | Pro Wrestling | Fandom and cross-checked a good chunk of the names with Cagematch, Wikipedia, Wrestling Data, etc. I used the rules listed elsewhere to filter out names that wouldn't qualify like Great Sasuke and other Japan/Mexico wrestlers that didn't work dates in US/Canada. I also didn't include anyone who didn't have much information on them. This is the list I came up with, it's by no means exhaustive and I probably missed a few. Some might already be in the game and I didn't catch them when I looked when coming up with this. Alfred “911” Poling Barry Hardy Bill DeMott Carl Brantley? (AKA Vladimir Koloff. Mixed dates here. Cagematch and Wrestling Data say 1991) Chris Jericho Chris Hamrick Chris Von Erich Dave Sullivan Debbie Malenko Donald “Hack Meyers” Haviland Duane “Gillberg” Gill Glen “Thrasher” Ruth Glen Osbourne Horace Hogan Ian Rotten Jason “EZ Money” Broyles Jeannie Clark (manager) Joe Gomez Jose Estrada Jr. JT Smith Kevin Kruger Kevin Nash Lance Storm Lester Speight Marc Mero? (started training in 1990, didn’t debut until 1991) Marcus “Buff” Bagwell Mike “Duke” Droese Mitch Ryder Phil "Damien Demento" Theis Rich Myers Rick Fuller Rick "Renegade" Williams Rob Van Dam Saraya Knight (as a manager) Scott "Scotty 2 Hotty" Garland Sean Waltman T. Rantula Terri Runnels (as a manager) Tony “Ludvig Borga” Halme Vito “Big Vito” LoGrasso William “Billy Black” White Jr.

rainmakerrtv
Excellent work, this will be incredibly helpful. One small clarification would be to list him as Phil "Mondo Kleen/Damien Demento" Theis. A few others are Jeannie Clark (manager of Steve Austin), Joe Gomez/Allen Iron Eagle, and Indy journeynman T. Rantula. What would be the ruling on Sean Waltman and Scott "Scotty 2 Hottie" Taylor? Both are listed as starting in 1989, and while they were in Indy territories that didn't get a lot of coverage, they were active in 1990. I know that Lightning Kid got covered in 1990 in the Apter mags, and was already a known commodity when he was featured in the GWF in 1991. rainmakerrtv
Also East Coast Indy star Cheetah Master and Mike "Leatherface" Samples.

It looks like Sean Waltman had his first match in 1990 and did a fair amount that year. Scotty 2 Hotty had a match in 1989 and did some more stuff in 1990. rainmakerrtv
Important clarification (just in case there is any confusion) that the Awesome Kong on that list is not the female wrestler Kia Stevens but a male wrestler who was part of the Colossal Kongs with King Kong and had a brief run in WCW. Going by both Wikipedia and Wrestling Data, it appears Awesome Kong actually debuted in 1991
LowBlowPodcast
I appreciate that big list - for what its worth - I've got Giant Gonzalez and Tatanka on my roster but have yet to use either of them. I can hold off till 90 if people think that would be more appropriate.
kevinmcfl
No, Lowblow, feel free to use who is on your roster. They are part of the game now and we will not include them in the 1990 draft.
rainmakerrtv
Chris Hamrick was active by this period.
rainmakerrtv
Prelim wrestler Barry Hardy was active by now. I mention this as he and Duane "Gillberg" Gill were a pretty fun jobber tag team, both under their own names and as the masked Executioners. LowBlowPodcast
I guess I will throw the first egg... when is it too early / just the right time to release the draft order so we can meticulously plan and decipher ways to make Gillberg the man, the myth, and the legend? kevinmcfl
I will use a number randomizer soon and get a draft list up. Hopefully this week.

rainmakerrtv
That said, Glen Ruth (Thrasher) is said by Wikipedia to have made his debut in 1990. I seem to recall having seen him do jobs in WWF around that time.

kevinmcfl
Using a number generator, the draft order for the 1990's rookie draft has been determined. This draft will be held in early November and it is not a snake draft. The order remains the same throughout the draft. Any writer to join Dawn of War before the draft date will be added to the back of the draft. UWF is allowed to add any wrestlers who started in 1990 but wrestled in Europe, Asia, South America and Australia. These wrestlers can not be drafted by any of the United States or Canadian territories and not eligible to wrestle in one of these promotions until they debut in the U.S. or Canada in real life. 1990 Rookie Draft Order 1. PCW: 2. NWA: Traded to WWF 3. WCW: Traded to PCW 4. AWA: Trade with WWF 5. WWF
