  1. Memphis is still going in sime form too. It's not like Memphis ever really died. Shitty booking and failure to adapt is what killed the territories, not the Memphis style.
  2. I'm going to give this a listen at work tomorrow.
  3. The Addiction aren't great in the ring but they have a lot of star power. I liked the Bucks/Addiction match quite a bit. The Bucks toned the act down for the title match which was nice. I didn't like the finish but what can you do. I'll have to get the VOD of the three way match in San Antonio.
  4. I find it funny that Jingus hates Memphis so much when his precious ECW is deeply rooted in Memphis style.
  5. I like it because it gets the crowd involved and it makes the referee not appear like a total idiot. They missed something so why not ask the hundreds of people that did see it if something shady went down.
  6. Just a warning. My Twitter is mostly about hockey.
  7. Did the guys from MST3K come up with those names? They also team with a guy called Flex Rumblecrunch. They're called the Wrecking Crew. They're like a power and paint team from the 80s. They're a ton of fun in Chikara. Blaster McMassive especially is really good. There was a Chikara show where Blaster decided to just come down and sit at ringside with the fans and any time there would be a dive or brawling near him he would grab all the fans around him like he was protecting them. It was really funny. Max Smashmaster is just Tursas without the mask if you followed Chikara at all.
  8. The list just isn't the same without Mr. Ooh La La and the Japanese Pool Boy.
  9. Austin seems like a wrestling nerd though. If he hadn't gotten into the business, he would probably be on sites like this deconstructing matches like the rest of us.
  10. I like the rare referees that ask the crowd if the heel just cheated.
  11. I have to agree with Johnny Sorrow that Daniels wearing a general's uniform out to the ring is pretty badass.
  12. Ether kind of falls apart due to smell though. Wouldn't the referee smell it and seeing the guy passed out in the ring kind of wonder what happened? I mean I don't know what ether smells like but I would wonder.
  13. @baughopper
  14. I never took it for being meant to hurt. It was just done to humiliate his opponent.
  15. The really dumb thing with Monty Brown is they finally had a guy that wasn't a WWE/WCW cast-off. It started the long history of them ruining anything they managed to successfully build up. It completely deflated the fanbase at the time as well. Brown might have failed as champion but there was a buzz to him at the time and it was crazy they didn't go with the hot guy.
  16. I think he deserves blame. WCW didn't have the leadership to keep him in check and went along with decisions that killed the company.
  17. I actually agree with this. Hogan is just being Hogan and the problem comes in when promoters aren't telling him no.
  18. Blue Pants is Leva Bates who is decent enough as a worker.
  19. He was a factor but I think Nash and Russo were far bigger factors in the grand scheme of things.
  20. I know Dreamcast had some outstanding wrestling games that were Japan only.
  21. I think Kevin Nash has more to do with WCW dying than Hulk Hogan did. Nash ended Goldberg's streak and beat Wrath in the build up to that. It was largely Nash's booking in the spring of 1999 that brought WCW to a complete halt momentum wise. Hogan was out with an injury for the period where WCW really fell apart. If you look at the 1999-2000 era where things really took a nosedive, Hogan wasn't there. He was back for about 2 months after the injury in 1999 and he was there for about 4 months in 2000. And to the positives of Hogan. Even as late as 1999 he had a positive impact on the product. That Super Brawl match with Flair did huge PPV numbers, like top 5 in company history numbers.
  22. I also think the people that would make that decision don't watch the show.
  23. Never mind that during what's considered the "glory years" of the DVD sales era, undercards had Colt Cabana, Delirious, The Carnage Crew, and the Ring Crew Express. Man, that era where the main event rotation was Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, and Roderick Strong was the bad variation of the word "brutal" And they made Grizzly Redwood stop using his gimmick on shows. Wow, was Jim Cornette a shitty booker.
  24. Yeah, Jake's cancer scare made TMZ and other mainstream sites. He has a movie coming out. My boss who doesn't watch wrestling would know who Jake Roberts is.
  25. I'll give you one. Every time someone gets kicked or punched in the balls Corino screams "he got hit in the ding ding". I swear to god I wish rabid dogs would maul him every time he says that.
