Vince apologizing for anything is very surprising, but it's the right move. I'm sure the press release Bix posted earlier in this thread is the talking points that will be used when Vince addresses the steroids talk tonight. For WWE's sake, hopefully someone close to Vince is advising him to keep his mouth shut as much as possible, but I doubt it. If not, he's going to say something ridiculous or lose his temper while being interviewed and just make himself and his company look even worse than they already do.

I hope this little tidbit gets posted everywhere this is being discussed, before people start accepting the WWE press release at face value. Wellness exams, under the current system, do not come back "positive" or "negative". They tested everyone's drug levels initially. If there is a decrease in levels from the last exam, they pass. If there is an increase in levels from the last exam, they fail. You can show steroids or other drugs in your system on every single wellness exam and still pass as long as there is not an increase in the steroid levels in your system. There's also a numbered scale that maybe Bix can post that he shared with me through AIM. Basically, the lower levels indicate a passing score, and you only fail the exam if you receive higher than a certain score.

Whoa. If you couple that, Daniel being required to follow the WWE dress code at all times and getting seats for veterans and Muhammad Hassan being forced to do 1000 hindu squats for what was admittedly a minor thing, it makes me wonder if Benoit took wrestling and locker room etiquette so seriously that he ran his household with the same rules as the WWE locker room. I know that's crazy, but this whole story is crazy.

The doctor on Fox News said otherwise. Or, if you want to rigidly define "roid rage," then it was roid-induced insanity. "ZOMGZ SUM1 ELSE DID IT!" This I can believe a little bit. If I'm rolling my eyes at this post, I can imagine what John thinks of it.
-
That's just ridiculous and is nowhere near what the AP has reported, or what was said at the press conference.
-
Anyone else catch the press conference? There were Bibles beside each body. Nancy was bound and wrapped in a towel, and had some blood on her, showing mild signs of struggle. Daniel showed no signs of struggle at all. The deaths are believed to have occurred a day earlier than previously thought. Chris used the cord from his weight machine to create a noose to wrap around his head. Anabolic steroids were found in the home, but they were prescribed. The WWE criticism was already in full swing on every news channel when this was over. WWE is about to go through some major, major shit.

Suggestions for things to include in the future
Loss replied to Loss's topic in Feedback and Suggestions
Honestly, this isn't really on my mind one way or the other right now. Let's see how things pan out. -
Yes, that's what I'm referring to. Considering that some of the wellness-related suspension reasons were being worked around this time, I figured Benoit going home was a well-disguised wellness suspension.
-
Not quite like this, no.
-
Yes, and I do see where my question was answered earlier in the thread. Thanks.

I am hoping that at some point, maybe in the bio, Meltzer will explain the real reason Benoit left for several months last year, as opposed to the "official" one, which I never really bought.
-
One thing I can't seem to figure out -- did Benoit go to Houston for Vengeance and then leave, or did he call saying he wouldn't be able to make it? When was his last match with WWE? Did he wrestle at all over the weekend for house shows?

Also, just to clarify, I think we have enough facts now and know enough about the situation that speculation is okay. My issue was more with people jumping to conclusions as soon as the whole family was reported dead. Now that we know a little more, I think it's fine.

I don't know if the Keller report circulating from his audio update of him smothering Nancy and Daniel and then hanging himself are true, but if so, he and Mike Awesome have both hung themselves in 2007. The autopsy should be taking place in about 10 minutes or so.

From the Observer website:
-
Yes, absolutely. We still don't have the full story (though some could justifiably argue that we know all we need to know) and we still don't know all the small pieces of the puzzle, so if anything, this story is only going to get more disturbing. There's no way WWE or Vince McMahon is off the hook on this one. Whether they are complicit or not, the possibility of the wrestling business being complicit is certainly going to be heavily discussed in the days and weeks to come.
-
This is horrifying news. Absolutely horrifying.
-
I just want to say this. If anyone starts speculating on the cause of death before anything is known, they will be gone from this board. I don't think anyone would do that here, but you're already seeing theories in places, and it's sickening.

Are ROH & TNA at the lowest level of buzz in their histories?
Loss replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
You know, that supposed NWA title reign for Joe that prompted this whole mess has yet to happen, and doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon. -
Matt and Jeff Hardy to receive big pushes as singles wrestlers
Loss replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
A small part of me kept hoping when Taker got sidelined that they would recreate the Ron Simmons angle from WCW where he beat Vader and won the title with Matt Hardy, even though I knew it wouldn't happen. -
WON awards front-runners for the first half of the year

I think it's more the anti-big man thing than it is a racist thing. The same people who don't like Mark Henry probably like Shelton Benjamin and Jay Lethal. -

Kind of off subject, but damn, Minoru Suzuki in ROH would be fantastic and Gabe should make it happen. -
