I would probably be more likely to give benefit of the doubt to someone else, but as is noted in this thread, Ross has been in damage control mode where he makes snide little comments for a week now. Everything he says seems suspect.
-
Yes. He's trying to argue that he didn't fit the profile of a murderer because he followed the moral code in the WWE locker room. It's ridiculous. The second quote about broken hearts was basically telling people to shut up and stop talking about it so WWE can get back to normal. JR is a snide, ugly person.
-
More wacky JR quotes: "It's impossible. You can't reconcile it,” Ross said. "You can't figure out what a guy that is one of the leaders, and a guy that would step up and help correct young wrestlers would do that. He would sit down with them and say 'Look, here's what you're doing wrong and here's the perception that you got to get over. You can't do this. This is locker room protocol.'" "We're all trying to get over our broken hearts,” Ross said. "That's something maybe not all of us will be able to accomplish.”

The information is from the sheriff's office and the DA. At this point, I take their word over something a random lady no one has ever heard of said in a Canadian newspaper interview. She's the only person who has said anything like this, except for WWE picking up the story and running with it as damage control.

"I thought Bill DeMott’s passion on his recent TV news appearances were moving." -- Jim Ross in his latest blog entry What a vile human being he is.

Also, this came out last Tuesday. The timing is fishy. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles...pes_for_autism/

The questions remain: If it is true, why wouldn't medical records show that he had the condition, and why would Nancy's family so strongly deny it? Why would his teachers deny it? If it isn't true, why in the world would anyone make something like that up?

TomK at DVDVR and I must have had our heads in the same place at the same time. He just posted something with a link that shows that the Canadian woman was not the original source of the Fragile X story. It was Jerry McDevitt, according to Newsweek. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19512872/site/newsweek/ SPIN.

From WOL recap: Did he throw out this story at some point as well, only for me to miss it? Maybe in the WON?
-
I seem to remember Nancy, Benoit, Sullivan and Jacqueline all taking some kind of insane bump at SuperBrawl VII collectively, but don't remember exactly what it was. Not really associating her neck to that, but she was occasionally physical in that storyline.

The sheriff's department and the DA's office have investigated Daniel's medical records and said it wasn't true. His teacher also confirmed he was right on schedule with his classmates. I'd say that's a pretty good debunking. I think it's a peculiar rumor to be spread in the first place, and it makes me wonder if WWE planted it in the media to divert attention elsewhere. I have nothing to support that, but it sure sounds likely.

Already there.

I have updated this now with current information and corrected things that have been debunked in the media, like Daniel's Fragile X Syndrome. I think I waited too long to re-up my WON and I'm not going to get the first issue from this week. The main part of this that I see that affecting is the section on Benoit's personal character. If anyone has any additional information that they think I should add to that part, please let me know. After that, barring any future twists in this story, I think Phil can feel free to post this at Segunda Caida.

Alex Marvez said Zoloft last night on Nancy Grace. I've read one WON recap that also says Zoloft, in addition to one that said Xanax. I know they're both anti-depressants, but they are different drugs, and I'm hoping someone who actually received their WON (I guess I should have re-upped earlier than Saturday morning) can confirm which drug the WON said.

My annoyance with it is that it's just easier to call it wrestling. It's wrestling, regardless of where it's happening. I agree that not having a problem with anyone using the term "lucha libre" is a bit of a double standard on my part, but it just doesn't bother me. Spunk explained it well. It's like when people won't just call Riki Choshu's scorpion submission hold a scorpion deathlock. They have to call it that other name. The term "puroresu" doesn't really annoy me that much, but calling it "pure-o" does. For the record, the term "anime" bugs me too. Just call it a damn cartoon.
-
Thank you for saying "Japanese wrestling" during the podcast instead of trying to pronounce "Puroresu" or calling it "Puro" ...

I definitely enjoyed this, and hope it becomes a regular thing.

The sad thing about Benoit being erased from history is that if he wasn't, his surviving children could collect royalties for the rest of their lives. Explaining that may put people at ease over 24/7 and DVD releases.

Just when you think Dan Wahlers can't be topped ...

They go here.

He basically just said he didn't think there was anything to it. He also called the GHB story "grasping for straws" in his website update yesterday.
-
Meltzer pretty much debunked the GHB story last night on WOL. I was pretty skeptical of it from the beginning myself. I thought even the crazy Wikipedia story was more believable than linking Benoit to Chris Adams. Dr. Astin facing charges is obviously a good thing if the allegations are true, but I don't believe it will accomplish much. There are too many doctors out there willing to prescribe anything, and when one goes down, another will pop up. The wrestlers will find another physician, and nothing will change. Even if Dr. Astin has a client list with several top names on it, it doesn't make much difference, sadly. It just forces the wrestlers to be more resourceful.
