  1. And they're eight really fantastic points. Welcome aboard.
  2. Meltzer's preview of the show: Matt Hardy is expected to appear on the show as well, as WWE has cleared him to do a run-in to put over his current angle. Meltzer seems to think this card looks good on paper, but nothing really stands out as great looking to me. Then again, I've never seen a Michael Shane match and don't know what kind of effect he'd have on the tag match, nor have I seen a Sabin match, so I'm not sure how he and Joe will click.
  3. This was from LOP. Hardy played it totally right. He's obviously put a lot of thought into what he's doing. Kudos to him staying one step ahead of any problems thus far.
  4. To the best of my knowledge, this was not recorded by anyone, fan or company.
  5. How did you come to this conclusion by reading those results? CM Punk has always been a great charcter in ROH but I wouldn't know that by looking at that results page. Are you going by prior knowledge? Because 1000 is a huge crowd for ROH, because every title defense Punk has seems to be the one where everyone thinks he's finally going to lose and he doesn't, because the reaction to Matt Hardy was said to be positive.
  6. Looks like my VCR decided to be an ass. I just tried to watch the tape and I'm getting so much snow I can barely see what's going on in the ring. I will say Coffey has had the only negative thoughts on the match I've seen thus far, with everyone at DVDVR and Smarkschoice calling it awesome and hoping it results in a Benoit/Regal feud on Smackdown. Regal has a strong character and there's no reason he couldn't be pushed into that spot and he and Benoit couldn't feud over the US title. It's about time Regal gets paired with a game opponent in WWE. Nonetheless, I need to see this soon, so hopefully it makes its way around. Sadly, I can't download though.
  7. Looks like they have some really strong characters in Punk and Hardy, which makes it a shame that they aren't around for the long haul. Attendance was said to be in the 1000 range, and Hardy supposedly got scattered boos when they announced him earlier in the evening and got a really good reaction when he actually appeared in front of the crowd.
  8. GREAT REVIEWS! Welcome aboard - we're glad to have you here.

  10. I really like that idea too, actually, as long as the set looks good. I think the rationale behind doing away with the studio hosting was so they could get closer to the audience and have a more authentic and intimate feel, but they ruined that when they moved Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler away from ringside. I'd suggest moving the talk shows like the Cabana and the Highlight Reel outside of the ring though, and putting them elsewhere in the arena. The shows definitely look more professional and less thrown together that way, and it's much easier on the crew.
  11. Lane/Pritchard/Del Ray as a whole, so both teams' body of work would be included.
  12. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard Extremely close, and I'm still not quite sure I made the right decision, but I'm thinking I did.
  13. Freebirds The Hart Foundation was all Bret, and the Freebirds were bigger draws who had better matches.

  15. Yeah, it's believable, but he just kinda shrugged his shoulders on the last one, so I wasn't sure.
  16. Vote for the team that you feel had the best run as a tag team from 1985 to 2005. Voting will last approximately 24 hours and the winner of each match will advance to the second round. Because the goal of the tournament is to promote discussion, please feel free to explain how you came to your decision as much as possible.

  18. Are you making them up or have you heard these guys cite the other ones as influences?
  19. Cornette would probably do away with the X Division pretty quickly, since it's not really his thing. Then again, that TNA environment has a weird way of turning once-competent bookers (Dutch Mantel is the biggest example I can think of) into really shitty ones. Cornette does need someone to filter out ideas, but the problem is that there's no one there who's capable of filtering those ideas. They're all either missing the wrestling background or have ulterior motives to make Jeff Jarrett the next Ric Flair. And until they can secure a TV deal, there's really no point in bringing Cornette -- or anyone else for that matter -- on board.
  20. I think, if anything, Misawa has plenty of the physical goods to make this a good match. Look at the insane bumps he's taken in big matches post-1999, especially in his 03/01/03 match with Kobashi. What I think the match is going to lack is substance beyond those big bumps and highspots. It's amazing how guys like Misawa haven't really become smarter workers as they've gotten older.
  21. I guess the point I was trying to make was that the Steiners matches I've seen (outside of a select few) rarely take you on a ride and are more about them hitting all of their highspots. Fun, but the Rockers were more complete wrestlers because they would actually sell for their opponents.
  22. Of the current roster that I know of, based on past interviews: Edge - Barry Windham, Bret Hart, Bob Orton Christian - Hulk Hogan Hurricane - Ric Flair Big Show - Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan Chris Jericho - Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair, Nick Bockwinkel I'll post more as I remember them.
