"Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection"
kjh replied to stunning_grover's topic in Megathread archive
Personally, I think we only know the tip of the iceberg of Vince's craziness and most of it goes unreported outside of Dave Meltzer laughing that Vince is in another one of his moods. -

To be fair, it's not like Eric Bischoff, Paul Heyman, Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter ever did anything of significance to deal with the problem either. -

Link to his original WrestleMania X-7 rant: http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/video_re...lemania-X-7.htm I like this quote: "The match’s basic emptiness was nicely disguised by HHH’s brilliance, but I don’t know how much longer Undertaker can hide behind better workers". -

One thing that doesn't add up about the "Vince has heard the rumor so many times he now believes it to be true" theory is that supposedly nobody dares bring the story up around him, so where did he hear the story so many times from. With regards to the Savage locking up Liz backstage thing, it's probably one of those stories that has been exaggerated over time, due to his overprotective and jealous nature. Locking her up in their hotel room while he went out to party is more credible. -
Nah, the media wouldn't care even if Rourke was wrestling at Mania, as he wasn't employed by WWE at the time of his death and wasn't a major star for them in the past. Perhaps the saddest aspect of this death is that Test was one of the few people to have the guts to speak out against WWE after Eddie Guerrero's death, but then proceeded to ignore all the lessons of his death and ended up with a similar fate.

Really, is Koko that much worse a HOF candidate than Nikolai Volkoff, Bob Orton Jr, Tony Atlas, Blackjack Lanza, Mr Fuji, Rocky Johnson and Mae Young? At least Koko in his prime was an awesome worker, unlike many other lower rung HOF candidates.

I think the fact that they put Christian in the Money In The Bank match, instead of having him job to Swagger again on the show, indicates that he's starting to win the key decision makers over with the quality of his recent performances. I wouldn't be surprised if he even wins the match. As for the quality of the match, it'll be fine, as it's really hard to completely screw up a multi man ladder match.

That seems to disprove (read: would have disproved) the theory that Vince holds Savage's abuse of Miss Elizabeth against him (either falling for his own con or offended that his con was exposed), despite the heavy eulogizing after her death. -
I think I found the insider and smark hatred for Marc Mero funnier, acting like he was speaking out just because he was bitter that his wife became a much bigger wrestling star than he ever was.

The story just doesn't make any sense unless Vince found out many, many years after the alleged incident took place, as the WWF and Randy Savage had negotiations to bring him back when his WCW contract expired in late '96 and late '99. -
Also, the person who told her to do what she did (and stole all those other wrestlers) was employed by WWE after WCW died for several years.

Er Bix, why would a teenage Stephanie be in Germany at the same time as Randy Savage? -
I think Ex Diva Search contestants that quickly washed out of WWE are more likely to make up the numbers. There must be ten to twenty of them around somewhere.

Really, for Ric Flair the gravy train will never end. Will it always be as lucrative as it is now. Of course not! But there's enough money marks out there for him to make a killing doing meet and greets, autograph signings and teary eyed promos for some time yet. When that dries up, his son Reid will be ready to debut in WWE for him to hog the spotlight from, sorry manage. TNA will always be an option if he gets particularly desperate. And in the end he's Ric Flair, the most beloved legend in the industry, so someone will take pity on him and give him a pay cheque for doing sod all when he's too old to even milk the indy circuit.

Sometimes I think Meltzer is too close to Flair to be able to separate the fact from the fiction. At the end of the day he's still a worker.

Bryan Alvarez reports in this week's F4W newsletter that the suit was dismissed due to the judge agreeing with WWE that the statute of limitations had expired. -

Regarding the claim Russo made $2.5 million a year, I'm sure someone must intentionally feed him BS just for kicks or something. -
I can understand where you're coming from sek, but such a blase attitude to storyline continuity (it doesn't matter because it's wrestling and everyone knows it's fake anyway) breeds the incompetent booking seen in the dying days of WCW and currently in TNA, and is symptomatic of a massive contempt for their audience (they're all just dumb marks after all). The best bookers in the past always tried to ensure that their storylines made sense at least from a warped wrestling logic perspective, even if they didn't make sense from a real life perspective.

It was his final shot at the WWF title. For a TV match, it was pushed pretty heavily at the time. -
To be fair to WWE they have teased that Hunter is Stephanie's husband in a wink wink fashion on their TV shows on several occasions, so this didn't come completely out of left field. On the other hand, they've been itching to do this storyline for ages, so they had plenty of time to lay more seeds so that it made more sense from an on screen perspective. I don't buy the excuse that they booked themselves into an inescapable hole, so there's no point in even trying to make the storyline at least somewhat logical.

One of the funniest parts of that interview was omitted. Hulk Hogan now wants to be the person who finally sets up a union for the wrestlers to get them benefits like insurance and profit sharing (conveniently forgetting to tell the interviewer that he was the one who sabotaged the last attempt to set up a union in wrestling). What's the odds that Hogan conveniently forgets this pledge when he gets his next pay cheque from Vince McMahon?

Didn't Kerry do exactly this before his Superclash III match with Lawler?

Saying that readers who have a differing opinion on a match "like nothing in wrestling and actually hate life" may not be the best way to promote feedback. I wouldn't say I hated the Flair/Foley I Quit match, but thought the whole storyline of the match was pretty selfish and egotistical, and ended up benefitting nobody.
