Right, because there's not a horrible steroid problem in high schools. Oh wait, THERE IS.
-
Kevin- Ventura is nominated as a non-wrestler, so it's all announcing and politics (if you weigh the latter at all).

Roddy Piper on TBS.

Yes, it's the actual Pro Wrestling LLC NWA. Membership roster here.
-
It's Billy Gunn in what looks like Torrie Wilson's old gear.

No.

According to Bischoff (for whatever it's worth...), Luger never made huge money after jumping back.
-
Well, Cary Silkin would probably be more appropriate. Should be interesting to see if it happens, and it's certainly a possibility with a letter being sent to the fucking 2007 NWA.

It's not on the Committee's site, did they release it to the wires first (since you have access to an AP feed)?
-
Oh LOL. Link?

That's an irrelevant and tasteless comparison. It's really, really not on both counts.

I just saw that not only did Simon Cowell produce "Wrestlemania: The Album," but SAW had a hand in it, too, which actually makes a lot of sense if you think about how it sounds.

TMZ has the police incident report (PDF file).

It was just an online porn store, predated those other things.

I think one can make a claim that being a territory based in marketing/media capital of New York helped WWF take their "product"national in the 80s. But being in a major media market doesn't guarantee attendance success. The argument that people make when trying to diminish the value of attendance numbers in a place like Memphis or North Carolina is that the folks in TN and NC didn't have alot of things competing for their entertainment (mostly the argument here is lack of major sports teams). NY has multiple sports teams, and an active nightlife scene. Being able to draw in a city where there are lots of entertainment choices isn't a given. The free advertising that came from knowing the tape distribution network is true. But I don't buy that they were the best financed company. Someone want to ask Barber how much financial backing was behind XPW? All of these feds were paid for by porn. 3PW was financed by Jasmine St Claire. PWG was financed by guys who did film work in the pron industry. XPW probably had the best money and resources financed by porn kingpin. How much did the bondage stuff on RF's website subsidize the wrestling tapes? That they needed a ticket scalper to come in and help suggests that they weren't on the strongest financial footing. You're forgetting RF's "Eve Extreme Video," which, by looking at the Wayback Machine, was around 2 years before ROH and was closed a few months after ROH started. So I guess you can say porn money got ROH started but it floundered when they closed the porn store. Or something. Though I believe RF was still selling porn through the wrestling site.

Yeah, but Maxx Payne's not dead yet. Well, unless WWE killed him and destroyed the body.

Looking over the new candidates... No. Guerreros were solid draws but unless/until they reunite their 5-6 year run isn't really remarkable enough to be HOF-worthy. Better than the Dudleys, though, who are pretty laughably bad candidates. If you go by the slippery slope argument, he absolutely has to be in as he's basically a far superior version of Ultimo Dragon as far as his candidacy goes. Putting Ultimo aside, he's still a pretty decent, underrated candidate. No. Don't know enough. Need to hear Jose or Kurt lay out an argument for him. Yes, as explained above. Of course. Underrated, but no. Should really be Los Hermanos Dinamitas as a group. What? No. An interesting case. I'm not really sure. Peaked really, really high as a draw, but I don't know if he really sustained it enough to be an HOFer. What year did he take over the company? From what I've seen, a really good heel manager in Florida & Texas, but I would have to see/learn more to say yes. '86-'87 WCCW may have exposed him as a booker to some degree, but he didn't have much to work with.

That's a good question, and I don't know why. Longevity as a top worker, influence, historical significance.
-
No, he wouldn't be in already because this is his first year on the ballot. Plus, I don't think the Eddy stuff will pull him down much as he's not a marginal candidate at all.
-
Well, Jimmy Lennon too. No, they're not.

I think there's a pretty strong argument for Murdoch, whose chances are probably hurt by The Rock getting votes from people who might not usually vote for Americans except if they're slam dunks. She went in last year. ??? They were a big part of Mid-South's biggest money year ever in 1984 (not sure if that includes the years Leroy McGuirk owned the territory before it was Mid-South) and a top working team for just over a decade (formation in '83 to the Heavenly Bodies leaving SMW in '94, and if you want to add stuff outside the team, Morton was fantastic going back to '79 at least). Angle was never really a draw on his own, and was only a top worker for somewhere between two to six years depending on who you're asking.
