I just started watching the show Dark Order entrance was epic but the reason I wanted to post b4 I finish because of all the complaints I saw b4 watching this one stuck out to me......why are people making a big deal out of the Bucks and Omega with the basketballs? seriously? I played hoops my entire life, there was nothing that stuck out as "lack of hand eye coordination or athletic skills" wtf. The thing I noticed the most was that the Bucks had decent handles considering the ridiculous situation, on a stage on tv with a crowd and lights and music and pyro and shit, and none of them noticeably looked down at the ball or lost control. That alone was kinda impressive. In fact, I think it was Nick was going behind the back with the ball in his hands, couldn't go all the way due to having the belt around his waist, caught it and brought it back nicely without losing control Also, as others have noted, they are heels, it's fucking heat. of all the fucking things to complain about.....f'n a.... carry on

Jericho needed a break IMO before all big influx of talent, and I say that as one of the bigger Jerichoholics on this board Meltzer thought the Gage match was super risky due to the possibility of losing a mainstream sponsor like State Farm. Says even though they cleared it with TNT, that AEW has enemies who could use this to go after them and their sponsors. Can't say I disagree tbh. I haven't watched it yet, but it does sound like a lot of ultraviolence for television where presumably some kids are watching Dave also thinks Tanahashi will be working Mox at the AEW PPV
-
As others have noted, Kross isn't the story, it's jobbing out the NXT champ while he still has the belt I'm sure Samoa Joe is itching to get back in the ring now I'm sure USA network is thrilled, like they even care at this point What did this accomplish? Dave speculated it was just done to piss off the hardcore twitter crowd and get people buzzing, which hey, knock your socks off Vince!

my main takeaways from the show was that WWE feels like a largely cold product compared to AEW. Fort Worth and that building doesn't seem like a prime market tbf, and there were def some big reactions, but the fact that WWE felt the need to sweeten it so much (which may just be pathological now post-pandemic) while I look at a bored crowd just ugh. it's bad enough the cognitive dissonance going on in America's "real world", I can't handle the WWE trying to live post-produce and meld the thunderdome with live crowds. no buys

WWE's "meta booking" should work with Cena and Reigns. Cena, the guy who left for Hollywood, is the babyface Reigns, the guy who's still there and carrying Smackdown, is the heel How long until the fans turn on Cena again?

"I'M A HEAVYWEIGHT. I'M THE ONLY MAN HERE. I'LL LAY ON THIS BITCH HERE ALL NIGHT LONG. 265 LBS." lmao

I can totally buy Edge v. Roman FWIW
-
I will say, while I'm dissing WWE's production.....this is my first time hearing Jimmy Smith doing WWE and he's a natural. He's putting over the fake crowd noise like a champ! I'm being sarcastic a bit, but he's actually been good all night
-
I'm listening on good headphones, and watching the crowd while I watch the matches. It's really noticeable to me
-
This show is so weird to watch with the bullshit fake noise and the crowd that has no actual sustained heat at all. Not a good sign when the crowd for the first big live show in years appears to be mostly dead for large portions of matches while it's layered with sweetener
-
Morrison and Rollins teaming up is great and makes total sense given their current characters
-
I didn't think it was anything special other than them laying it in and being pissed at the crowd reaction I haven't really enjoyed any of their matches together especially, and I'm always surprised at the ratings they get from everyone. Even Cornette likes them!
-
thought it was just me guess they didn't expect so much traffic? Charlotte broke the internet?
-
It makes perfect sense. Rhea was red hot in NXT, looking like 83 female Hulk Hogan. And when they brought her up to the main roster for the WWE v. NXT program she wasn't supposed to be that over. She needed to be put in her place and sit under the learning tree. Now she's where she belongs, Charlotte is where she belongs, and all is right with the world.
-
Hahahaha Charlotte beats Ripley again She's Lugering her!!!
-
I noticed the fake noise vs. the real noise immediately during the first match. It's so F'n bad. The actual crowd has seemed mostly dead but live for short bursts. Show has been kinda meh

I'm actually excited for MITB so I decided to go back and look at some of the past MITB shows on Peacock First one, 2010, not sure I've seen this one b4 and the lineup for the opening SD MITB is kind of wild. Half the field is in AEW (Cody, Christian, Matt Hardy, Big Show), Kofi (with his awesome SOS theme), Drew (looks super young here) and Dolph are all still very active.....and then there's Mayor Jacobs

They've gone to the well with Goldberg too many times already. People might not remember but he lost clean to Drew McIntyre at the Rumble in like 5 minutes. Before that he lost clean in like 3 minutes to Braun friggin Strowman at the PC Mania And IIRC his appearance prior to that was the debacle in Saudi Arabia with Taker After this sterling track record why wouldn't anyone want to see him and Lashley? The stuff with Brock worked because he'd been gone so long and the bomb throwing short matches were a welcome attraction. Whatever he still had they've already juiced it, and he's 4 years older now....

Just finished the show a bit back (Finals take precedence, sorry AEW) Ricky Starks was insanely over. Great to see Cody was treated like the heel he is, also great to see. He's been the biggest channel changer for me during the pandemic. Amazing how he went from someone I was digging and rooting for to succeed, despite the obvious douchebaggery, to this. He books himself as a super babyface and I fucking hate him. He truely is Dusty's son. It all started with that fucking tattoo IMO. Just turn him F'n heel and get it over with I didn't see anything wrong with Black's promo. He allowed more of his accent to seep in than he did in WWE, that's for sure. In WWE he had perfected the Bale Batman delivery. More of his uber Dutch plz I thought the segment with Page and the Elite came off great. Loved them taking turns calling him a piece of shit, and Matt the emotional one needing to get in his face and bring up their past. A little slip up live where I thought they were booking the match live on the fly.....then they never followed up with when it's going to happen. Later in the show they needed to address this. I might have missed it, but I didn't see them advertise it for week 2 of Fyter Fest, even tho that's logical Main event was wild. I never saw Ethan Page in Impact, but I've been consistently impressed with him in AEW. He now needs to be off for a F'n bit to sell the finality of that. I like the pairing of him and Scorpio a lot.....they'd be great challengers for a champ team of Proud N Powerful down the line.....but that's kind of the problem with AEW. Too much talent. Page should be leaving the territory for a while, hell...maybe he will? Anyway, great show overall, so awesome seeing them back in front of fans outside of Florida again. If you watched that show and didn't think "gee that looks like fun" and want to go live when they're in your town than I don't even know

Also, you need to ask what the goal was with putting Kross on Main Event with Shelton. To me it seems a test of can this guy work a safe, camera friendly WWE match with someone Vince trusts in the ring. That's all it was. It wasn't to make Kross look great, it was to see how competent he was. If they wanted to make him look great they would have put Drake Maverick or someone in there to get murdered That said, I'm now super curious about this match and am gonna have to check it out. It's been a while since I've checked out a b show for a hidden gem or lack thereof
-
Absolutely, but I'm not sure why we're simultaneously elevating Shelton in the process here. Shelton has had mega boring matches with people far better than Kross. And I like Shelton a lot!! I haven't watched any of the Kross-Balor matches, at least one of those got decent reviews, right? Then again, most people don't like Balor much these days either, so who knows.....
-
When did Shelton Benjamin become prime Benoit? I haven't seen the match in question. I like Shelton and I'm kinda 'meh' on Kross, but this sounds like so much hyperbole. Shelton is absolutely capable of having boring paint by numbers WWE tv matches, I've seen a ton of them!! Sometimes multiple things can be true.... I personally don't really care what happens with Kross tbh. I think there's a place for him for sure, but it's not as the top guy they've pushed him as in NXT. A short TV match with Shelton isn't going to sway my opinion on him one way or the other
-
I think the board should probably have a little sub-board for sports and maybe non-rasslin talk at this point, but I was around on DVDVR when things started to devolve a bit, so I understand why Loss et. all wouldn't want to

Based on the feedback here and Bryan and Dave raving about it (minus the Riddle/Miz comedy) sounds like I need to check out Ricochet and Morrison This actually sounded like a pretty good show listening to their review. They usually skewer the shows these days. I hope they have some good shit planned for the next couple of months, because I'm willing to give their shows a chance again with crowds back. 3 hours is brutal though..... How fast do the shows go up on Peacock these days?
