  1. this is almost an exact redux of the satanic panic. every 10 years or so there's a new variation of the hysteria
  2. assisted living isn't hospice Terry Funk is one of my all-time favorite Americans, forget rasslin. We should all be lining up to donate our blood and organs to this man, should he ever need them
  3. The bump was clearly taken where he landed right on the "bad/recently healed" arm and sold as such. It was done on purpose. Have you ever had a lingering, easily re-injured injury? It happens on things that wouldn't normally register as a big deal MJF's finisher is the Fujiwara armbar. This is clearly all being done to build to him tapping out Jericho. In fact, I happen to believe the whole arm injury was a work the entire way....... Seems like a weird thing to complain about, but whatever.
  4. Man, that sucks. 59. Reports say massive heart attack. I thought he was in the news semi-recently, but I don't remember what about I also was a fan from the Global days, liked him in WCW teaming with Bagwell (not as good a team as with Scorpio, but definitely better than American Males), then was psyched when he came into WWF during the Canada vs. USA feud. That one PPV match with Bret felt so un-WWE for the time, way more of an ECW way of booking, that alone made it cool to me RIP
  5. cast is off now. he was using it as a weapon in that match
  6. I thought the show was great and I'm psyched for them to go on the road. I'm into most of the angles they've got going, but they've definitely been waiting for the crowds to turn it up and you can tell they're ready to do that with a bunch of stuff I didn't even catch the JR thing because I stopped watching before it happened. Meh. He doesn't bother me nearly as much as other people, in fact I think he generally adds to the product, but a gaffe like that is pretty F'n bad. I don't think he needs to go immediately, but clearly he was never going to be a long-term answer and plans to phase him out should have already been in the works. Tony and Excaliber are great, and they have tons of people they can rotate in and out as a third man. I prefer it that way actually, with Taz, Callis, Jericho etc. all hopping on from time to time, plus Big Show and Henry and whoever
  7. He's selling the arm injury that he's had since he was shoved off the WarGames cage.........
  8. Matt Bloom has been the head trainer for like 6 years now....... Not saying he's the problem, there's a lot of cooks in that kitchen and as others noted there seems to be numerous issues with their training methods, be it the emphasis on athletic training over old school wrestling or the WWE style/work to the camera stuff. Whatever it is they haven't been turning out many hot prospects from scratch. The women seem to do better overall, but a lot of them have some experience prior to NXT, and then you have someone like Conti who goes to AEW and almost immediately looks like a star Also not for nothing, but the overall quality of the shows seemed to take a downturn around the time HBK became a regular behind the scenes. Some of that is probably bad timing due to them trying to change the product into a tv one to compete with AEW, some of it is pandemic but a lot of shows were dying with the crowd before that. I don't know exactly what he's doing there, maybe it's a coincidence, but none of this looks good on the ol' DX track record
  9. I hope they at least hold true to him not being able to challenge for whichever title Ashley has until he drops it. I don't remember if they've done that before, but they make up the rules as they go along, no reason not to hold up the HIAC stip
  10. Sure, but I depend on this place to watch the show for me and give me hot takes!!!
  11. must have been an exciting show!
  12. Meltzer: Forget the outside world, how long have fans and people in the business been pointing this out? She should have been smarter, but WWE probably shouldn't have hired her in the first place
  13. I thought Hideki was brought in to be a trainer? Kinda weird stable of 40 somethings with Bivens. It screams ROH or FIP to me, and that's not a good thing I like Strong a lot, hopefully he can carry this
  14. I'm a Nikki Cross fan as well. She got over immediately on the main roster doing a version of her Sanity character, and I felt that stable was likely DOA when they didn't pair her with them as she was a big part of the act. Definitely underutilized. I'm not a fan of the superhero gimmick, but it could get over. She's talented enough to make it work if given a chance and the writing isn't terrible. Those last two qualifiers give me little hope.
  15. I'll ignore the shot at him because it's not my job to defend him and just give my take He has a massive no cut contract, he's set for life, and he's THE elder statesman in the company who's still active. He sees how much talent has been wasted around him, he sees how bad the product has become, and he's simply trying to do his best for the company and for his own legacy. No more no less. This isn't a new thing, he's been in this mode for years. He did it with Bryan years ago now. He did it with Seth. It just might stand out a bit more now that he's kind of last man standing and one of the few "made men" around trying to elevate newer talent
  16. Sami and KO had one of the more entertaining Mania matches this year IMO. I don't think I'll ever get sick of them feuding and/or teaming because they rarely wrestle the same match twice Sami has been on fire in-ring all during the pandemic. I think the triple threat ladder match with AJ and Jeff Hardy is still my favorite pandemic era WWE match and a lot of that was storytelling with Sami
  17. I'm beyond sick of WWE shitting on stipulations. I don't care if they come up with a clever way to get out of it, they do it all the f'n time and it's a joke. I hope they honor the stip. Have Lashley lose to someone else eventually (ideally Lesnar, but who knows what WWE is thinking these days when it comes to him). And if/when Drew gets the belt back down the line, Lashley is set up perfectly to be his first major challenger. Have Drew finally get his win then Lashley-->Brock-->Drew Drew is built back up properly over time and you've got Roman on the other brand for a big Mania match
  18. I'm still on my 4 month from Mania and I have zero desire to watch this show. The card isn't even bad on paper but there's no way I'm watching this over an NBA game 7
  19. It's par for the course with these folks. Don Jr. is one of the worst. They whine constantly about the "woke mob" and "snowflakes" while normal people like me try to tune ALL OF IT out and certainly don't spend any time obsessing over these things It's a free country, Drake is free to be this version of himself. We'll see where he's at in a couple years.
  20. I take the name as a rib on her being "fat" doo = doo doo = shit so instead of invoking the image on morning dew on a beautiful flower.....I think of her taking a shit WWE folks!
  21. Glorious! I could literally just sit here watching that over and over and over
  22. Alvarez on WOL says they moved the match because Roman didn't want to wrestle on father's day....... What? There's no way that can be true, can it?
  23. One would assume they have a hot angle to create more buzz going into the show, but it's definitely odd I thought it should have been Roman v. Jimmy all along, but who knows at this point
  24. I didn't watch the show but it was booked like they're setting up future matches for him with Kross, Cole and Dunne. If he isn't going to be cleared eventually and able to work those matches it didn't make sense to tease them Normally that would lead me to believe they expect him to wrestle again in the not too distant future, but it is WWE so.........
