You're right, but they were a perfect fit for last night since you had both guys hitting each other in the feels with real life emotional stuff. Dave talking on WOR about how Paul learned booking by working his way into the booking room when he was a magazine writer and listening to Dusty really hammered home how much he meant to him. Paul having an emotional connection to Dusty, as well as Roman being trained in part by Dusty in NXT gives this story layers you almost never see in WWE.

Lanny was my favorite WWF jobber growing up, he had more personality than half the guys on top and was doing moonsaults back when no one else was. Watching now, the opener was nuts solely for Wes Lee. Dijak's not bad but I'm not feeling this Berlyn-ass gimmick. I suppose it's better than the nonsense he was stuck with before. Women's tag was good, Henley/Kiana is actually a pretty good team and I hope the angle they are running doesn't entirely overshadow that. Apollo losing two straight falls was a choice, but Melo rules so I'm okay with it. Don't know what you do with Apollo at this point though, dude's whole deal has been returning to NXT for unfinished business and so far he's finished none of it Four way tag team matches are kind of unwieldy but this ruled for what it was. Has it come out what happened to the missing Coffey bro? I thought it was just visa issues the UK crew were dealing with, but he's disappeared to the Phantom Zone.

Dave's coverage in Japan has been pretty much like his US coverage: have real connection in the main promotion(s) and kind of wing everything else. It seems pretty clear he has at least some connection in NJPW, and of course he obviously has Kenny who was a main event player for quite a while. I've heard enough Dave double entendre and hint to assume he has at least some communication with Gedo too. He sometimes speaks about NJPW booking with the confidence of someone who has a line to the booker directly. He'll often talk about what he thinks the long term plans are with the "I don't know for sure, but...." and then barring injury and/or shit happening it's exactly what happens.

They need to get the crying dude in the raincoat from when Randy and Liz reunited to be in the crowd.
