  1. At one point he was in my bottom 10. I really enjoyed his work with Rogers. Love his punches. He was a victim of me discovering new guys.
  2. Nice to see that WingedEagle voted for Teranishi. I think if the guy got more chances that were on tape he would get much more credit. Its hard to build a GWE case off of 6 or 7 clipped midcard matches on TV a year but he always looked good in them.
  3. Surprised I'm the only one that voted for Fuyuki. He was a last minute addition to my ballot but I thought for sure there were people higher on him than I was.
  4. I'm pretty sure Lauren McKell is El McKell and she is female if I remember correctly.
  5. I seriously considered Akira Nogami, Mighty Inoue and Takashi Ishikawa at the back of my list at some point.
  6. That was great. I enjoyed reading it.
  7. Dick Togo and Tracy Smothers are two guys I've always liked the idea of. Going back to when I first became a fan I always liked when they would pop up in magazines or results even though I almost never saw them wrestle. However both guys were major letdowns for me in the ring. Smothers always seems awkward and somewhat underdeveloped as a worker and I just haven't been that impressed by Togo's singles. I had high hopes for both guys considering they had their backers but neither guy made my list.
  8. Yeah the future of the company shouldn't be able to hang on the mat with a semi-retired 46 year old man.
  9. He said he would set records. Oh man.
  10. No Joshi workers for me. I've seen so little partially because I haven't enjoyed most of what I've seen. Wanted to do one last push for joshi just before the deadline but didn't have enough time to get a grasp of the landscape. Also Volk Han and Bret Hart.
  11. I gave Jumbo one last chance before submitting my ballot. Watched some 80s AJPW Tags with and against Tenryu. As much as I dislike him, i actually enjoyed his performances somewhat after not watching any Jumbo for a long time. He crept onto my list at the last minute.
  12. My ballot is complete. My final cuts were Ms-1, Perro Aguayo, Steve Williams, Dan Kroffat and Ron Starr. I really wish I could have included them. There were a few guys I wound up voting for at the last minute that I didn't think would make my ballot. This was harder than I thought it would be.
  13. In a lot of Fujinami's 90s stuff he was really poor as a worker. I think he gets a bit better as time goes on to the point that he does have strong performances like in the WAR feud and the 93 Hase G1 match. He's better in the WAR matches than Chono or Mutoh and even Choshu at times. I haven't seen much of his work later in the decade but I look forward to checking it out.
  14. You could say that Bret's entire babyface career was like that albeit inadvertently.
  15. Holy shit. Just watched this again and like OJ, I have no idea what match I was watching last time. This was awesome. These guys just beat the crap out of each other and everyone came out of this looking good. Incredible match.

    Tiebreakers

It will still be 100 names, just possibly a few more of there are ties in the back end.
  17. Kengo Kimura and Killer Khan Both were in some awesome stuff on the New Japan set. Khan was in some awesome stuff in other 80s sets as well. But outside of this, they seem to phone it in a lot. If you the rest of their work compared at all then both guys would have easily made my list.
  18. I'm going to continue my Yearbook watching project. I'm watching them all from 1990-1999. Up to February of 94 right now. I also have a bunch of season sets of various Japanese promotions, Memphis and Mid-South I want to dive into. Also going to check out Continental. The stuff looks awesome but I haven't had time to sit down and watch it from beginning to end.
  19. I felt similarly about Jumbo and ultimately decided not to rank him at all. Simply because I don't enjoy him whatsoever. There are other guys I don't like that I can still enjoy, but Jumbo is different. I have nothing against him, but he is so boring to me that I can't see how I could rate him. Wrestling may or may not be art, but it is entertainment. You can't argue that and Jumbo is dismal at entertaining me. If you want to look at it as art it's as simple as the fact that I appreciate at least 100 guys more than I appreciate him and what he brings to the table. In other fields of art I wouldn't rank or vote for an artist whose work consistently bored me, so why would I do that when considering wrestling?

    PWO Only?

This raises an interesting point. We've been having discussions about this stuff for a year and a half now and I want the results to represent that and the varied opinions of people from PWO. Maybe others would disagree, but I don't like the idea of a bunch of people who have had nothing to do with the process showing up and submitting ballots in the last month of the project. As Loss has said in the past, PWO is not a monolith and people here have wildly differing opinions but they will have discussions and explain their points of view. I don't think we should be picky and choosy or elitist about who is allowed to vote or post here, but this deep into the project I don't want someone to come in with no thought put into a ballot and skew the results in a way that's not representative of the process and time people have put in. Maybe some of you who make the decisions have already had this discussion and come to a conclusion about it. If not I think it's something that should at least be discussed.
  21. This was a lot of fun, but Bret was not game for this type of match. He was out of place and made things worse by not adjusting and instead trying typical Bret Hart things. Instead of bringing structure, it felt like an old timer coming in and showing how things were done back in his day. I don't like Bret Hart.
  22. I don't know if it matters, but you could extend fujinami's peak back to 78. He has matches on tape that show he was pretty awesome even then.
  23. You're doing the Lord's work, Kris. I have a bunch of Contintental that I can't wait to dive into once the GWE is over.

  25. If this was based simply on character and promo skills Fuller would be a high-end lock. I've seen his work in the 90s and it always seemed stifled or short. Was he even better than his tag partner, Jimmy Golden? Based on that footage, probably not. Like a lot of guys from his era and region there is a major footage issue. If the matches from 74 with Lawler are an indication of what he was like then we might be missing out on one of the greats. He takes a beating and sells as well as anyone. His shots aren't the best but his timing, fire and grittiness are up there. Its worth noting that these matches took place only 4 years into his career. Sort of wish he had a late career wrestling run in a major promotion like his partner in crime, Jimmy Golden.
