Are ECW/WCCW tv already accessible?
-
Any recommendation where to start tonight? Almost wish I could ask it for a random show. So much to choose from!
-
Yep, on demand has definitely been a problem tonight. Watched that NXT special at 8 without any problems.
-
From what I understand the problems they're having are pretty impressive for day 1/2. Other online projects are often much more buggy and subject to a ton of bigger issues than they've had thus far. The quality isn't where you want it to be, but for launch they should be proud. Its not hard to imagine a scenario where the story of day 1 is massive signup / access failures that completely overshadow everything else going on. That hasn't been the case here.

I was actually scrolling through this thread on my phone before going to bed after the show, and so while I saw someone talk about the chamber match being one of their all-time WWE faves I initially dismissed it, then saw a ton of replies and realized Loss made the big statement. I know it doesn't need to be said, but we're talking about someone here who has probably gone to greater lengths than just about anyone on here to state what wrestling he likes and why he likes it. While I didn't think it was match of the nighton this show, much less one of the top matches in the company over the last few years, that kind of pimping is enough for me to go and rewatch the match to see what's up once the show is on the network. My gut is that even if the bulk of the match were at or close to that level, the booking/finish would likely drag things down well below anything approaching the all time level. Kind of switching gears here more into Current WWE territory, but its relevant to this show, last night and the direction going forward as well. I liked the angles with Wyatt & Co. setting up the match with Cena. But that kind of traditional, heels attack babyface without any compelling reason more resembles how you set up a common PPV headliner, not the company ace's match on the biggest show of the year. I dig Bray as a character and am enjoying him in the ring too, but I don't set see the Wyatts as anywhere near the main event type level that the Shield were at almost immediately from day 1. This is a match that needs some serious violence to try and make it feel big, more along the lines of the Nexus angle or something similar where there is absolute chaos (and ideally some color, but we know that's not happening), rather than a worked knee injury. I love Taker's Mania gimmick, generally enjoy the setup each year (excluding last year) and was looking forward to this year. But he finally looked OLD last night. We're talking Jazz Hoyt with atrophying arms and aged 30 years in the last 1 year OLD. I have no doubt they'll go to every length to make this an awesome match and obviously have certain liberties along the way, but when its done I hope we're not left wishing they pulled the trigger on the Cena match while Taker was still Taker. Bryan? I dunno, but forget that Batista isn't him. He can't control that and its an unfortunate situation he walked into, but here's another guy who looks smaller, older and like much less of a star than his last run. I don't know that pushing him completely against what live audiences want will cost them a dime in business, but it will make for some awkward television through at least the summer. I can't imagine they don't call an audible before the big show, but if their internals say that top line figures won't vary much if they don't change course why bother?

I just loaded up Bash '89 during a Raw commercial. It loaded basically right away and looks to be streaming without any issues at all. Pretty cool.
-
No idea what expectations were on day 1, but ~200K sounds pretty great for day 1 given how many potential customers are at school/work and unable to sign up until later.
-
Hmm. Wonder what's up with that. Just confirmed I entered my email correctly when registering and I'm able to get in without a problem. Will probably sort itself out later.
-
I signed up without a problem around 930 or so this morning. Cued up Starrcade '88 and while it took a while to load, once it did it streamed very well and I was able to skip throughout the show without any issues. Out for now until after work but looking forward to checking it out more tomorrow night. Has anyone gotten confirmation emails yet? I assume those are also delayed as they adjust to handling the numbers, but curious if others are also waiting on that.

Let's play devil's advocate for a minute here. How much business do we think they lose by sticking with Orton/Batista as the title match at Mania rather than calling an audible. The gate will be the same. Will the buyrate be markedly different with Bryan or someone else in the title match? The crowd reactions and chants are likely going to make it an embarrassing night for a bunch of the performers. But what is the impact on dollars and cents?
-
Yeah that turned pretty quickly. I still say those 6 have better in them
-
Exactly, I love what the Shield do on TV every week and look forward to every outing. But I was hoping for this so be some out of control combo of NJ vs. WAR and ECW. We'll see how it goes. Meltz said a rematch was likely on TV tomorrow though I'm guessing that might be more angle than match. If they could find something else for Cena to do at Mania these guys could have a show stealer there in a crazy stadium brawl. But we're getting there...

Thanks, this looks like a really great resource. I'm a little late to the party because I just realized I could install youtube on my PS3 so now I can pull all of this up on the big screen. Really looking forward to digging in.
-
Yep, also available on PS3 now. I downloaded all 14 or so mb and am now pretty jacked to check it out for about 10 minutes Monday night after work & Raw before heading to bed.
-
Oh yeah, Ditch's site. Not as much as I'd like because I end up watching DVDs more often than not. But that's the one I wish I made more time for.
-
For me its basically PWO and the WON site, along with any other links to interesting or newsworthy bits I find on those 2.
-
Interesting, hopefully it shows up on the PS3 Monday. I was hoping to download this weekend and set it up Monday, but may have to wait till Tuesday now.
-
I went to download the WWE app on the PS3 tonight but didn't see it available. Can't even download it until Monday?

So that's Juan de La Barrera bull ring. Pretty cool outdoor arena. I liked this better than the match the week before, but not dramatically so. Tecnicos take a quick first fall when Rey scores two fast pins. This fall saw a decent plancha from Heavy Metal but not much else. Psicosis is already such a great bumper at this stage and makes Misterio look like a superhero, flying everywhere in and around the ring for him. Misterio then sells, eating a 3 on 1 attack for a good stretch. After Metal's nice pinfall in the 2nd, we get another impressive dive train in the 3rd before Metal also closes that out, looking like a big deal in the process. ***1/2

[1993-02-13-UWFi-Final Battle] Nobuhiko Takada vs Kiyoshi Tamura
WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in February 1993
Without going back and double checking everything I watched from '92, I'm pretty comfortable saying this is my favorite Takada match thus far. Excellent, fast grappling to start with Takada doing a textbook job of making a lesser opponent look big against a star. Takada wrenches in a leglock and Tamura does a fantastic job selling it and struggling for the rope beak. Tamura forced to break the ropes again on a Kimura. A really great sequence with Takada working for armbar, which Tamura tries to reverse but Takada cinches it in and forces another break. He then gets a knockdown on a kick to the midsection. Takada closes it with a series of big kicks including one to the dome for the KO. Really couldn't ask for more here -- Tamura looked like a legit threat on the rise against the company's ace, while not quite able to put it together and pull off the upset. ****- 18 replies

[1993-02-13-WCW-Saturday Night] Vader vs Rick Thames
WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in February 1993
Vader KO Thames immediately with a brutal elbow that he sells so well you might wonder if it was legit. Samoan drop, Vader bomb, power bomb and its over. Race puts facepaint on him like Sting, then Vader whips the hell out of him. Pretty entertaining squash and would be a great part of building to the Superbrawl main event if only they left out the mini movie nonsense.- 13 replies

[1993-02-13-SMW-TV] Rock & Roll Express and Heavenly Bodies
WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in February 1993
What he said. We get a fiery promo from Morton about how far back the feud with Cornette & the Midnights goes. They then brawl with all 3 Bodies and get laid out, which brings out the Studds with chairs and the Bodies take some sick shots before clearing and allowing the Studds to turn their attention to the RNR and lay them out as well. We should all do Fuller curls for angles like this.- 9 replies

[1993-02-13-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: WCW Saturday Night recap
WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in February 1993
Dutch shows the clip of Bodies & RNR at WCWSN with the finish of the match and Eaton interfering. Then Dutch interviews the Studd Stable, who are great and want a title match. Its a shame Fuller left for WCW as the Studds were my favorite gimmick in SMW.- 9 replies
