Inspired by a comment funkdoc made a few weeks ago, this weeks podcast will be looking at classic "Jump The Shark" moments in wrestling history, and as always, we want your nominations for ones in your own wrestling viewing experience. The question of course, is what moment was the straw the camel's back that made you stop watching a certain promotion, stop watching in general, or that turned friends of yours off the world of wrestling, and why? Feel free to elaborate. As always, the best contributions will be read on the show and you'll be credited accordingly. So what moment stands out for you as when a wrestling company jumped the shark? EDIT - The show discussing Jump The Shark Moments in wrestling history, and your nominations, is now online and available to listen to at the following link: http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/play/5yzejn/SCGRadio61-JumpTheSharkMoments.mp3

Following on from last week's podcast where we looked at the Survivor Series PPV from 1987 to 1999, this week we look at the second half of the Series' existence, from 2000 to 2014. Talking about the show's battle for relevance and identity in its later years, we also take your feedback on your fondest Survivor Series memories from this period, and go over each installment of the Thanksgiving Eve Tradition, the key matches and moments, the dynamic of the shows and much more. A really fun look at the evolution of the PPV this week, check it out and let us know what you think! http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/play/e64gip/SCGRadio60-HistoryoftheSurvivorSeriesPart2.mp3

Start of 84 also has the great Magnum/Wrestling 2 dynamic playing out, including the TA/JYD contract signing that I adore. Prepare for music videos and lots of Masao Ito, however.

For this week's podcast we're doing the second part of our look at the history of the Survivor Series PPV, analysing its struggle for identity and relevance, going show by show, and as always we're looking for your thoughts on the former Thanksgiving Eve Tradition. Question - What is your favourite Survivor Series memory between 2000 and 2014? It can be a great match, moment, promo, anything - the more detail the better. As usual, the best contributions will be read on the show and you'll be credited accordingly, so whaddya think? Your Most Hated World Title Reign in History

I got a text from a friend of mine yesterday simply saying "I need that Shane Douglas email as my ringtone". Absolutely A+ contribution. -
For the next two weeks on the podcast we'll be looking at the history of the Survivor Series PPV, analysing its struggle for identity and relevance from the beginning, going show by show, and as always we're looking for your thoughts on the former Thanksgiving Ever Tradition. Question is fairly simple - what is your favourite Survivor Series memory between 1987 and 1999? It can be a great match, moment, promo, anything - the more detail the better. As usual, the best contributions will be read on the show and you'll be credited accordingly. So whaddya think? A very fun show this week, check it out and let us know what you think! -

Thanks very much dude, really do appreciate the complimentary words - it is a shame you weren't able to chime in, lemme know what you think. I guess the big crux of the issue is how much you believe the numbers would have risen or fallen if they got ballsy with the new blood they had on deck, and how far you want to go away from that constant harking back as they were doing at the time. Obviously you don't want to just kill off your legendary guys, but it's a balancing act. It's also funny in hindsight how quick the wrestling world was then compared to now. A four year run on top for the WWF, but at this point an awful lot of characters are facing the point where they have to be careful not to feel outdated.

Your Most Hated World Title Reign in History

Yeah, and they also thought this was the Hogan that was cool and over enough to turn Sting heel, which leads to that hilarious moment at Fall Brawl when Sting killed Hogan with a baseball bat, and the commentators swore bloody murder about how he could do this to the great Hulk Hogan (who had terrorised the company for most of the last three years), while 95% of the crowd cheered vigorously and thought "should have done that two years ago Stinger". -
So, for this weeks podcast, we'll be discussing the Most Hated World Title Reigns in History, and want your input on what is your most despised run anybody had as a World Champion in any promotion, ever, and of course why? A key point here is we are looking to discuss the title runs themselves, NOT simply a guy becoming champion who you don't feel was worthy (Vince McMahon for example). As always we'll be reading the best contributions on the show and crediting you accordingly - so what is the World Title reign you personally hated more than any other, and what about it pissed you off so much? After taking your feedback, join us this week as we attempt to re-book the early days of the WWF Brand Extension! Considering all the issues facing the WWF in April 2002, the panel looks at the entire roster, brand identity, and the titles to decide who goes on which show, who gets pushed, who gets downplayed, and all the directions going forward, as well as taking your suggestions on what needed to be done to bring a faltering WWF back on track. A really fun show this week discussing a fascinating time in the company, check it out and let us know what you think! http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/qy4u6m/SCGRadio57-FixingTheWWFinApril2002.mp3

I want to thank everybody for the contributions, we got to read quite a few of them on the show, which is now available at the following link: http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/qy4u6m/SCGRadio57-FixingTheWWFinApril2002.mp3 Join us as we attempt to re-book the early days of the WWF Brand Extension - considering all the issues facing the WWF in April 2002, discussing the entire roster, brand identity, and the titles in order to decide who goes on which show, who gets pushed, who gets downplayed, and all the directions going forward, as well as taking your suggestions on what needed to be done to bring a faltering WWF back on track. Observer said it was a total fuck up. Vince was screaming in the headsets at the referees to go to their brands guy so he could come out and restart it. Considering it was an accident, it was amazing how they both managed to hit at the exact same time and allowed for this scenario. Would have been quite amusing if Batista's own lack of coordination eliminated him from the Rumble he was designed to win.

So for this week's podcast we are returning to our booking committee format for a discussion re-booking the WWF from April 2002, a very interesting time that of course saw that dawn of the brand extension. With the WWF coming off a number of failed hotshots, WrestleMania 18 and needing a new direction, we're looking to get some feedback on what you think needed to be done to make this new venture, and the company itself, succeed during a period where ratings and popularity fell. On the premise that you HAVE to do the brand extension, what are some of the key things you would have booked to make it turn out better than it did? What do you do with Raw and Smackdown? Who do you push and how? What do you do with the titles? Et cetera. As always, we'll be reading the best feedback/ideas on the show and crediting you accordingly. So what would you have done? EDIT - The show discussing "Fixing The WWF in April 2002" is now online and available to listen to at the following link: http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/qy4u6m/SCGRadio57-FixingTheWWFinApril2002.mp3

http://www.squaredcirclegazette.com has our entire back catalogue. Very glad that both you and SS enjoyed it :-) Yeah, we're tinkering around with some kind of "Small Claims Court" episode to discuss a handful of individual political incidents to debate right and wrong and bring some non-typical types to the format...
