  6. So, for this week's podcast, we're looking to discuss rivalries/storylines that had some momentum or major potential, but for whatever reason fizzled out, and would like to get your input. Of all the rivalries in wrestling history from any company, which ONE stands out to you personally as a feud you were into, until a certain pivotal moment that let all the air out of the balloon? So the questions are - what was the feud, what made you super into it in the first place, and what was the moment that made it fizzle out and stopped you caring? As always, the best contributions will be read on the show and you'll be credited accordingly. So what gets your vote? EDIT - Our show discussing Feuds and Storylines that Fell Off A Cliff featuring many of your contributions, is now online and available to listen to at the following link: http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/h32fb8/SCG_Radio_103_-_Feuds_That_Fell_Off_A_Cliff.mp3
  7. Just to drop this in here, the latest Squared Circle Gazette Radio is now up, for our very first "RuView" - giving an in-depth analysis of Vince Russo written television. We're kicking off with the famed April 10th 2000 episode of WCW Nitro, the legendary "restart show" that saw the formation of Russo and Bischoff's New Blood, Returns, Debuts, Turns, Swerved, Insider Comments, Chaos, Carnage and Bret Hart. Talking Shane Douglas Vs. Ric Flair, a 4 Man Tournament to decide an opponent for Jeff Jarrett, Billy Kidman feuding with Hulk Hogan, Scott Steiner being insane, MEAT, and a whole lot more (believe me). A really fun show this week, check it out and let us know what you think! http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/crap5m/SCG_Radio_102_-_April_10th_2000_WCW_Nitro_RuView.mp3

Taking your nominations, we discuss individuals that were once thought of in high regard, but for whatever reason have fallen from grace in the eyes of you, the loyal listeners, and us around the oaken table. Names such as Mick Foley, Matt Hardy, Jim Ross, Dean Ambrose, Brock Lesnar, The Rock, Sting, Jake Roberts, Rob Van Dam, Seth Rollins, Ric Flair and Zack Ryder all get discussed, as well as many others to boot. 10. So for this week's podcast, we're looking at wrestlers that you once held in high regard but soured on over time - whether something about their act changed, whether they regressed as performers, or whether you feel you started to see through them and they weren't actually as good as you once thought. If you could name one wrestler or act that sums this up for you throughout history, who would you pick and WHY? As always, the best contributions will be read on the show and you'll be credited accordingly. So who fell from grace in your eyes? EDIT - Our show discussing Favourites That You Soured On, featuring many of your contributions, is now online and available to listen to at the following link: http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/5f2atq/SCG_Radio_101_-_The_Bloom_Is_Off_The_Rose.mp3
  11. What I actually find most interesting of all is that WWE actually bothered to out a performer's excuse, when everybody that failed has had one that is probably contentious to some degree, and willingly admitted her illegal, in-company drug use just to prove a point. Think about how pissed they had to be that she put the blame on the company to willingly expose that.
  12. I know this forum isn't generally fond of Angle, I'm hoping to take to the Cena Vs. Angle thread either tonight or tomorrow because I think it's an excellent comparison.
  13. Join us for our 100th episode, as we attempt to determine the four individuals who best suit the lofty honour of being carved into our theoretical Mount Rushmore of All-Around performers. Judging on criteria ranging from in-ring work, promos, effectiveness, versatility, drawing power, historical significance and many other measures of influence, we break down a litany of candidates, including Arn Anderson, Bret Hart, Eddie Guerrero, Randy Savage, The Rock, Kurt Angle, Terry Funk, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, John Cena and many many more. As always, we have your takes on why people should or should not reach the mountain top, and have a blast doing it. A big thank you to everybody who has supported SCG Radio since its beginning, enjoy the show! http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/yff6gp/SCG_Radio_100_-_The_Wrestling_Mount_Rushmore_of_All_Arounders.mp3

  15. Well hold on, if I remember right the initial comment was a short statement about not thinking Shawn was very good with little explanation as to what led him to the opinion, so the counter was essentially - we disagree, and we need to hear the argument before we can even begin a debate on it, so at that point it could only ever be a comment about disagreeing until more is made of it. I'd love to have that debate, you or Butchi may be the ones to do it, if I can figure a way to set it up I'm happy to do it, I think it'd be a blast.
  16. So for this weeks podcast, we're looking to debate a theoretical "Mt. Rushmore", based on being the best all-around performers ever, the most complete packages, of all time, and we'd like to get some feedback on the topic. Typically a Mt. Rushmore discussion centres around fame and prominence, but if you applied the same idea to pure talent, and those who were great in every area of the field (whether it be in-ring work, promos, presence, effectiveness, etc), who would you put on your Mt. Rushmore of "All-arounders", and why? As always, we'll be reading the best contributions on the show and crediting you accordingly. So which four guys do you think stood out as being the best, most flawless and well-rounded performers above the rest? 17. Thanks very much - and I'd agree I think Diesel is actually fairly organic in that position. As for Savage, I agree you don't want to kill the guy, and we're walking a fine line with him to not try and just kill his star aura off, so I think you'd have to balance out the losses on the major shows by protecting him with wins on television. I think after the pre-Summerslam scenario we painted (where Kid gets a countout win beforehand to set up Kid/Shawn and Savage/Razor), it'd be wise to do a rematch post-Summerslam where Savage wins a close one just to re-establish his position. Lawler as a motormouth to get Savage back on the side of good to give him another win before he puts over Shawn is nice as well. Surprised they never did Piper/Savage, always wanted to see that as a kid as well, though I suppose they were two guys they would create opponents for to keep them over rather than to have them clash.
  18. Just to drop this in here, the latest SCG Radio is now online, so join us as we Rebook the WWF in 1993! Talking all the problems facing the company at a time of decline, we debate the best way to use Hulk Hogan, decide whether to go with Bret Hart or run with somebody else as the company leader, and book all the major shows leading to WrestleMania X in 1994! And as always, we take your comments and opinions on what you felt should have been done to steady the ship. So with roster depth a major issue and an industry-wide decline going on, is it possible to make things better? Does the Lex Express ride again? Listen in and let us know what you think! http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/angm69/SCG_Radio_99_-_Rebooking_The_WWF_in_1993.mp3

  20. So for this week's podcast we are returning to our booking committee format for a discussion Rebooking the WWF in 1993, a very interesting time that saw the company struggle to decide on a new direction. We're looking to get some feedback on what you think needed to be done to make things succeed during a period where popularity fell. Starting as everything was on January 1st 1993, what do you book for WrestleMania 9? What do you do with the returning Hulk Hogan? Do you stick with Bret Hart as a top guy or try with somebody else? What do you do with the titles? Who would you be looking to use better than they did at the time? As always, we'll be reading the best feedback/ideas on the show and crediting you accordingly. So what would you have done? Did Randy Savage really do the dirty with Stephanie McMahon? And what of these questionable antics by people in power? Tammy Sytch, the Von Erichs and "Ernie" are prominently featured. A really fun and entertaining show, check out the seedy underbelly of pro wrestling...allegedly! 23. just getting in shape and then claiming he already won for just showing up is not really any kind of accomplishment at this level and I completely understand why an actually competitive fighter would call bullshit on that kind of "bravery... Not saying it is an accomplishment at all, I'm saying citing him as the moment the "UFC Fighter" tag lost its value when there have been more egregious examples of what he's complaining about previously is ridiculous. Particularly from a wrestling fan like Lawlor who should know better than anyone that generating cash with a novelty fight is what the business is really about.
  24. For whatever reason, I found it to be one of the least enjoyable fights I've ever watched. I like Punk, and by no means expected him to fare well, but something about the reality of it playing out stuck an odd chord with me. Seeing him walk out to Cult of Personality and carry himself SO well until the fight started made me realise - this guy was made for pro wrestling, he really should be there, but the industry is so fucked up it'll drive a man insane. So here he is - completely out of his element, galloping out of his corner like fucking Secretariat right into a takedown. A friend asked me what I thought would happen on Friday, and my answer was takedown-punches-choke in the first round. And I'm not saying I'm clever because I said that in advance, because I'm not - it was obvious. Like a lamb to the slaughter, not a soul on the Earth believed he had a chance, they knew he wasn't qualified, the athletic commissions waived their own fucking rules to let him fight for the cash grab. And I'm not crying for Punk - I'm sure he made his money too. But nothing about that was fun. Punk looked like shit, wrestling looked like shit, UFC looked like shit. Oh, and Filthy Tom Lawlor can fuck off crying on Observer Radio about how Punk being in UFC has damaged the cache and respectability of being a "UFC Fighter". Like Sean Gannon fresh off the Kimbo Slice video looking like he's spent his six week camp eating lard pies wasn't a bigger black eye. Or James Toney, who was also out of shape and out of his element. At least Punk worked hard and was ripped, and at least Mickey Gall was inches away from Punk when he took him down, Randy Couture was still on the fucking airplane when he started shooting in on Toney and got him to the ground anyway. Freak show matches have happened before, and if these morons are deluded enough to think this will be a lesson, just wait until the next celebrity wannabe tries it and watch UFC and the commissions bark like sea lions all over again. And of all people not to get that, it's Tom Lawlor, the biggest wrestling fan in the UFC. Defies belief.
  25. If you do happen to find it, please post a picture. Can't believe they got away with that.
