  1. 100% agree. Enjoyed him very much in his brief NJPW stuff and in NOAH he has value too like in the Inoue case you mentioned it was completely awesome, but not what they actually did with that horrible Go stuff. Jetlag is way smarter than me because I actually did have to talk to those guys who insisted it was the highest and greatest expression of wrestling and anyone who didn't like it was a dumbass. It was just as miserable of a headache as you would imagine. Still though, there's a place for Ironheads in wrestling. Just not in a top 100 GWE list with his lack of quantity.

    Rick Martel

Martel would have been a top 10 guy with a better heel run, one of the most naturally talented and hardest working babyfaces of his era and I would put him over his contemporaries in Santana and Steamboat. I had him in my top 25 last time and I see no reason why he should drop much if at all this go round.
  3. Arguably the best current in-ring women's wrestler in the world and has been in the past as well. I think she's got a hell of a case and agree with the sentiment that she could rise. She has both longevity and skill as well as match output to make her worthy as a candidate. Highly recommend her to anyone unfamiliar with Japanese women's wrestling.

    Etsuka Mita

Just being in LCO making you a strong contender for the list is probably some of the best thought process there could be. If we do a tag one again they all need to be high in that. Look forward to giving Mita a deeper look on her own for this.
  5. Everything I've seen of her is excellent and I still consider her one of the most underrated of all time. Let's find lots of Hyuga matches to post.
  6. Great for what she did but her era is effectively dark and her run was shorter than others. I can't vote her over Azumi Hyuga who was better or Nanae who was her contemporary but wrestled twice as long. I still really like her though and think she's really good and everyone should watch and at least give her a chance. Great bumper with some cool moves and tried really hard even against all odds. (Both in kayfabe and real life)
  7. David was a better Flair.
  8. I was sour on him not because he wasn't still awesome and he had good matches, but because he went winless. One of the true fanboying moments I had in wrestling and even from a business standpoint, I think there was a ton of money left on the table in his career by NJPW on the back end. I can't say anything that hasn't already been said on his career, but stylistically it might be a bit controversial but Otani & Kanemoto appealed to me more but there's no way they all won't go high on my list. The 90s were a magical era for Jr. Heavyweight wrestling and Liger was at the forefront of it while never losing it after 2000 all the way to the end pretty much.

    Stan Hansen

He's another that ranks high in "can put on any random match and it might not necessarily be a good match but hot damn something awesome will happen at least once" category along with Flair and Bull Nakano. I also consider Hansen/Spivey to be one of the true underrated teams of all time. Top 10-20 level for me.
  10. In his peak he's awesome, one of the best. Probably a top 10 candidate. But there's just too much back end stuff that drops him down. His late 10s NOAH run was one of the saddest parts of a career I can remember seeing and certainly one of my personal least favorites. I had him in the top 30 last time and he did one last banger with Ishikawa in Germany, but I would put him below the top top tier of shooters. He won't drop out of the top 50 though.

    Alexa Bliss

Maybe even an overstatement by me. I kinda liked those standing moonsault knees she does/used to do so that at least counts for something.

    Ric Flair

When I started last time he was firmly in the top 10 in my head and the more I saw he slipped, but only little by little. There's still so much good to him I can't deny him as an all time great but there's too many flaws that keep popping up that just nag at me. He finished just outside top 10 for me last time and I could see him dropping the same way to 20 but not further. An amazing entertainer and someone who is one of the best to just throw on something random of his and get SOMETHING fun to watch out of it.
  13. He was special for the first 6 years of his career, but his, and the companies around him's flaws pretty much derailed him completely. I will always have a soft spot for Wild II & his ROH run. He SHOULD be here as a legend in this business and an all time great worker but...I just can't see it with the reality of what we got.
  14. One of the absolute gold standards of shoot style and I suspect it will come down to him or Yuki Ishikawa as my number 1 of the style, and of Tamura's ilk I think clearly number one. From literally the beginning he understood how to incorporate fiery selling and emotion into his matches and within his first 10 matches I think there's a case you could argue he was one of the best in-ring performers in the world. Then you get to fully grown peak Tamura in RINGS and he adapts more to the Volk Han ilk of being a more pure technician while also bringing his own spin on it and became wildly successful in multiple ways, and ended up closing the decade as Jumbo started it: Dominating the MOTYC scene and having great matches over and over. He took a break until 2003 and even then he was having MOTY-level matches in his own promotion and this time it isn't against the likes of Han, TK, & Yammamoto but against guys who were younger and inexperienced and some who basically never did anything else except have great matches with Tamura. Micro makes a great point with his great match average being stupidly high, and there's more meat he brings to the table in his career than his other awesome RINGS contemporary Han, just based on quantity and variety. I have top put Tamura as a strong top 10 contender and if someone put him number one I wouldn't be opposed at all.
  15. Matt D & Strobogo are totally right about Brock. It feels like people bought into his aura and his push against all real world evidence of what his matches were actually like which is impressive on some level, but doesn't make his matches any better. Also on that Bryan match was exactly as what was said, an almost beat for beat copy of the AJ match and a great example of how some people bought into Brock despite the reality of things as people were claiming it was like the most unique match of the year when really it was the same crap we've seen a zillion times. It's like the people who were believing in Shibata being the ultimate badass in NJPW and can beat anyone on the roster despite spending most of his time in real fights losing miserably. I don't think business matters in GWE so I won't hold it against him but I do agree with what was said about his feuds benefiting nobody and not increasing business in any meaningful way which makes his usage more confusing. His early run was awesome and he looked like he could be the future of the industry, but it never materialized until later and it ended up with far more negatives than positives in nearly every way. I can't imagine NOT finding 100 better workers with more output. Perhaps if you're into "moments" he had some of those and I won't take it away from him but I'm not buying stock into him or his "style" at all and actually think his run was not only not top 100 worthy but actively bad for a variety of reasons.

Best actor in history, have you seen her last 6 months? She's been horrible. She's a good promo before that but even then there's a big gap between her and the top talkers of the industry. I remember they had her try to carry a This Is Your Life segment with Bayley and it was nearly as bad as this Fiend stuff. In the ring she's got some athletic ability, but she's not even someone I would have ever considered even average overall. She's got value as a promo to a company as was said or the role had her with Nikki Cross which I thought was largely successful and a good use of her, but nowhere anywhere close to this list.
  17. I did a podcast with LuchaWorld's Fredo Esparza talking about every candidate in the Lucha region of the Observer this week and we got into pretty much everyone, but would really enjoy the fine folks at PWO to give it a listen and see what the experts here think, whether you're a voter or just someone more interested in Lucha history I think this show hits on a few levels and we even go into a few meta topics like how important magazines were to Lucha Libre back in the old days, how hot things were in the 80s, how influential Los Misioneros are to Trios wrestling style, "cool" rudos, how awesome Sangre Chicana is, how big a star Huracán Ramirez was in the movies, and who the better dancer is between LA Park and Kraneo, among other things like a comprehensive bio of Ruben Juarez in Fredo's own words. it's hard to tell which way the wind is blowing in regards to the voters, but it was worth it just to talk about all these legends. I did my part to run point and hopefully came across well as outside of Juarez I was familiar with the rest. I really enjoyed the show and hopefully you enjoy it too. 18. The only real "disappointment" if you could call it that, would be Cavernario getting a vote but not Hechicero, might have tried to swap him out as my #100 "vanity pick" type of guy since I'm pretty sure Ultimo got more than 1 vote. Obviously there are some "huh?" picks but that's the beauty of the bottom of the list/honorables, at least we had fun. I think the only ones that really reached a point of consideration for me that have been listed thus far, being in the mix loosely would be Fuyuki, Faroan & Gran Apache, and Faroan would probably be my highest ranking of the 3. Good pick getting him in there. I love the guy. Thought he was better than Kawada in Footloose and right there with the top guys in AJPW at end end of the 80s. I never got around to tail end FMW which is the only reason I didn't rank him. He's probably the one guy in this first run where I feel like he was really slept on and deserved better. But I didn't have him on my ballot, so it's hard to bitch. Really happy Hamrick and Whipwreck got votes. It hurt to leave them off. Tempers was my 100 at my point. Agreed on Fuyuki being better than Kawada at the time, I think he was highly underrated during that era and played a great part in giving Kawada a good spot to be in in the company A. While the promotion was going through a significant turning point, and B. while he was still getting himself together in the ring so to speak. Fuyuki in late in FMW was very charismatic despite slowing down a fair amount. He was in consideration for me but he's no doubt a worthy vote getter.
  19. She was underrated, and while not a last second cut or anything I had her in the mix for awhile. I wouldn't really want to put her on my ballot ahead of so many names, but I have always enjoyed her babyface run and you could do a lot worse than voting for Cutie. Especially if you wrote a blurb and brought up her really fun Genesis/MD game.
  20. Just using this as a more general thread as was mentioned...I love so much that this list and this thread exists with all these cool stats. Would love to know the one guy who solely sent in a tag team list. I thought there'd be more personally.
  21. Also want to point out three more great picks from Elliott that I happily co-sign in the Santito feuds and Satanico/Dandy. The Satanico/Dandy brawls in particular in late 1990 are some of my favorite brawls ever. (should be obvious I love BP but I love all those guys in general)
  22. We have the exact same pick for the exact same reason. My first thought is Misawa/Jumbo but the fact that it never had a true conclusion the way Jumbo/Tenryu did and kinda just kept going after the climax of it on 6/8/90 makes me lean towards Tenryu/Jumbo as my true favorite Feud. 6/8/90 wasn't meant to be the climax. It was more like the first act turning point in a screenplay. I thought it was the best part for sure though. Climax might have been a miswording. More like the peak of their rivalry. (Not necessarily for pure match quality but just in terms of dramatics and the novelty of Misawa winning.)
  23. I think in general Segunda Caida's a great resource for Lucha (really any type, pretty sure I read a review for the Aja Kong/KAORU brawl from 2000 on there at some point) matches for everybody as a reference point. Really enjoy all you guys' various reviews and definitely helped me out earlier in the year when I was digging up some older stuff. Thanks y'all.
