In 2006: 298. Carlos Colon – 16 points – 2 votes – VHB Floyd #89 Tremendous rise for Colon! ... I haven't done the deep dive on him yet. Seen the Starrcade stuff and some other things outside of Puerto Rico. But of his Puerto Rico stuff I've seen the Hansen feud and about 9-10 other matches. That has definetely put him on the map for me. He didn't register at all in earnest for me until this project started. And he almost made it onto the list. He was my 102, so one spot ahead of his place here. If I hadn't done two vanity picks he would have been my #100 and I'm sure that he'll keep climbing over the next years. So start the campaign trail for "Colon 2026" now

Incredible tease. Got to be Rock and Christian. Chris Hero has to be the one adding to his case, according to some. Dwayne has to be "one of the biggest stars in wrestling history" even though I couldn't stand him. Unsure about the other two, but I'll go out on a limb and say Kerry Von Erich and Christian are next. So far, we have: 1 is still adding to his case. (Chris Hero) 1 is a big time draw in their home territory. (Carlos Colon) So, the Canadian and the big star is left. Will Hogan, Rock, Dusty, Undertaker, Piper, Jericho, Owen, Martel, Benot, Zay,n or Christian drop next? Please please please just not Rick Martel... But surely that won't happen yet... Right???

Which means... i'm not sane or average? Doesn't it just mean that you define the word "objective" differently in this context? Hate to say it, but you seem pretty sane to me... Average? Let's not go there :-) I'm not average. Ask my wife. Really tried not going there, but ok... Yup. That's what she told me. But I'm sure you find ways of compensating for that EDIT: Damn. Phil's comeback was way better...

Alright... 110-104 and not one of "my" guys came up. Sun is shining today :-) ... Expecting to lose 4 in a row now before we get to the top 100...

I will, in fact, hold that it is theoretically possible to argue for El Gigante being a better wrestler than Daniel Bryan. It may be a wildly insane, improbable, far-fetched, incredibly particular, left-field argument. And maybe the least popular argument in the history of wrestling fandom. But it wouldn't be factually incorrect. That is all I'm saying. But for the love of God can we stop talking about it. Oh shit, I'm sorry for stirring the pot, but then someone could theoretically claim that I am a better guitar player than Eric Clapton. No one probably would, but theoretically. That would be absolutely objectively wrong. Someone might (not likely, but still), like my fumblings better, but I'd hope they'd then still say that's subjective and that objectively Clapton's better. Ditto with Gigangte vs Bryan. I think Gigante would have said as much. Sure it gets harder with others. Hence the wonderrful and open debate :-)

Obviously letting non-PWO regulars vote is gonna change the final list. So too if it was only the podcast hosts voting. There's nothing weird about that. And there's nothing weird about some people having an interest in seeing how the list would look if you only counted a certain segment of voters choices. That could be interesting with any vote given on anything. What's the problem? I suggest people slip Steven ten bucks for every specialized list they want to see, and I'm sure he could make it happen then. Want to see what the list looks like only compiled of guys who started watching in the 80's? Ten bucks, and there you go. A bunc of guys want to see the list as made up of votes by the podcast hosts? Pool together, you got a list. I'd spring for some of it. Then the lists could be made public and whoever the fuck wants to look at them can. This is partly a joke and partly meant for real. The whole subjectivity/objectivity argument is interesting. Also when it spirals of into other fields than wrestling. And the guys searching for "the new, fresh, non-boring thing" are important for broadening and disvovering new stuff. So are the guys sticking with the "consensus" picks. And so are those who try to listen only to themselves. It all adds up the big picture, which none of can see on our own. And yes, you can skewer and manipulate that in whatever direction you want. Personally I would never leave off someone from my list here or even move them down the list just because they are not flavor of the month or because I've found a new toy right now. That's part of what stuff like biglav or whatever system (be it partly instinctual) you use is potentially helping avoid. So just because people right now at this very moment might be more entertained by a new discovery than with Flair, Funk, Hansen, Misawa, Kawada, Jumbo, Casas and so on and so on, these guys should be punished and thus creating a list where Mr. Flavor of the Moment is ranked as The Greatest Ever? Fin if you think so, but I would be totally opposed to that method. And ofcourse we're influenced by each other. I would have ranked Buddy Rose and Jun Akiyama without reading posts or hearing podcasts here. But they're a damn sight higher for me now. Because people here inspired me to seek out certain guys, watch certain matches and era and territories. And yes, I look for the points people make, see if I agree, and sometimes I do and it helps a guys ranking. If you have someone you want to fight for, do it. And when you fight for someone, enjoy that some might agree with you, that hadn't looked that direction before, and suck it up that someone will test your claims and might feel differently than you and challenge you on it. It's completely valid to say "in my oppionion" or "that's how I feel". Completely. And probably an important part of the debates on every single wrestler. But there has to be more to it to continue the talk. As long as it is only used to admit bias for or against someone, and then you can move on to trying to explain (or discover!) what it is that entertains you or moves you with someones performance or what has that effect on the other party that you just haven't felt (yet), then it's all good. The worst thing to me, that can come out of the way this discussion has taken a turn is that some of the people who usually do throw themself into the debates start backing off. I don't want the JvK's, the Dylan's, the grimas's, the KrisZ's, the goodhelmet's, the El-P's, the El Bourica's, the OJ's, the Cross-Face Chicken Wing's and all the other regulars (sorry for every single one of you I didn't mention) to say (like JvK sadly did a short while ago) that they won't argue other people's picks and the ranking of guys they didn't vote for, but only state when their guys fall. That will with immediately drain this of any fun for me. Sure it's fun to see who loses who when. But only(!) the debate, the arguments, the constructive critique, the arguments for and against, the broadening of perspective through interaction with others make this have any relevance to me.

Don't want to stir the pot necessarilly, but I have to say that there is not one single new thing to me in what Parv is saying in that post, so I think it's unfair to claim it's the most clear he's been. This has very, very clearly been his position since introducing BIGLAV.

I totally understand where you're coming from. But it's not something people had a meeting on and decided. It's a lot of different peoples different tastes. So the way the magic works is, if you feel something or someone needs to be talked up, you talk them up. Probably someone who agrees with you will back you up. Others will debate you. So instead of blaming "the community" for this or that, you add your voice and suddenly that is also represented in "the community".

I just had this sudden wave of panic that this is my vote for Blue Panther. He is by far the guy I ranked the highest based on the least amount of footage. Oh, Panther's not gone yet? Don't know why I thought so. Great :-) Think I have 80 left then. EDIT: Ah, Motherf€#§er! I missed Sasaki going down :-( ... 21 down for me, 79 left.

I had him at #74, but didn't expect him to go all the way. Agree it's a shame, but he actually ranked higher than I feared. I'm sure it was the Hoss and Jimmy Jack Funk matches that helped him this high ... I have high hopes that he'll do very, very well in the tag rankings though!

Lowest ranked wrestler with a number one vote?
Danish Dynamite replied to Timbo Slice's topic in 2016
So do I. But the ones I know like that, I know aren't voting here. My guess would be that 'Taker doesn't get a #1 vote in this poll. But you never know :-) Scott Steiner got one (which I have no idea how happened, even though I read jackwebb's very fine arguments for it, and I think it's perfectly fine that he voted that way), so stranger things than a Mean Mark number one vote has already happened in my eyes :-) -
I've got Foley on my list. Relatively low. And I'm sure that if my general taste was less North American and more, say, lucha or whatever, he might have been exchanged with El Multi Masca Sangria or something. Sure, some might find it boring voting for the broader known names. But to me there's a big difference between: "Voting for that guy is boring" and "That guy's work is boring". The second statement I find a totally valid argument for not voting for someone. The first however... I know the criteria was left totally open (and I support that 100%), but for my part I can say that whether or not my picks were boring, totally original or anywhere in between had no influence on me what-so-ever. I voted for the 100 (or... 98 at least...) guys I have found to be the wrestlers that I as of april 2016 find to be the greatest. ... I hope my list changes over the next years (or even months...) because that means I've discovered or people have pointed me to wrestling and wrestlers that I find to be even better then the ones I already love!

Totally disagree with that thought. It's bullshit to me. I want my guys to rank high, because I like the guys I've voted for. I also want my guys to rank high, because the internal PWO friendly competition between us all is fun. It's fun (and all in good spirit) to laugh at each others picks, mock when someone elses fall and take the same shit when our own go down. ... Initially I had a prejudice that this community was leaning certain ways strongly, but even though there are small tendencies (usually well argumented for) everyone here has their own biases, their own peculiarities and own up to them. And no one thinks less of each other for it. Don't think anyone loses any sleep over their guys dropping. ... I'd say that twitter dude you're refering to reminds me of a tendency I think we all saw (or embodied) as teenagers, where it's more important to do and think differently than everyone else. A desperate need to stick out. ... I think most of us are mature enough that we rest comfortably in our own skin and our own oppinions and tastes, regardless of whether or not everyone or no one thinks the same. ... So I call bull on that criticism.

My wife is due to give birth to our second son on April 28. Hopefully he's on time so he can take in the full top 10 reveal. Love this :-) Great timing, and congratulations man!

Totally agree with everything in this post.

True that. Pirata barely missed my list, so he's about where I'd have him. But since there's guys I'd have lower yet to come, it still feels sad :-( But That's another great thing about this reveal :-) It just keeps being fun and cool and engaging and frustrating! ... I'm more and more convinced I won't be the high vote on anyone though.

I also lost one with Blackwell. He came closer to the Final 100 than I thought. Good job, though I obviously wanted him a bit higher.

Discovered 100s of Classic Newsletters!
Danish Dynamite replied to Outsider's topic in Newsletter recaps
A 17 min + Billy Robinson vs Curt Hennig match on that card? Doesn't sound too bad :-) Also fun comment about Bruiser Brody: "This superstar is unreliable"... -
Still sending all the best wishes and good vibes your way from Denmark! Your comments on the NXT show makes those matches all 5-Star to me as well! Good to hear the chemo made a face turn from hated heel to powerful ally! PWO is with you in thoughts, prayers and spirit!

Great!!!!

A lot seem to have a good chunck of guys left. Who's your highest drop so far? I have to double check, but think mine's still Orton Jr. at #57. That will probably change today though...

Dear goodhelmet. We hope your funeral is not imminent. But we are pleased about your first song selection for the event. Might we suggest adding Metallica's Ride the Lightning and a bit of King Diamond? And would you prefer to be carried out to Nick Cave's The Weeping Song or Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries?
