  1. Rocky was going to be integral to my promotion! I now have to re-plan EVERYTHING! More than willing to share.
  2. A couple rounds earlier than I wanted to start drafting tag teams, but, while the other team I want should be there, with the talk about Johnson, felt I had to pull the trigger. They fit really well with the fact that Wrestling at the Chase will be on cable, as well, always good to have a diversified roster. EDIT: I think my recent posts have made it obvious I'm more than willing to share talent. I really wanted the Briscos, so I could claim to have the World Champion and the World Tag Team Champions, but, with them off the board, personal taste and history made the Soul Patrol my top face team available.
  3. With their new, larger, profile, Central States is looking to appeal to fanbases it may not have considered as important in the past. In that vein, we select one of the top up and coming tag teams in the world today... The Soul Patrol, Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson. Central States forfeits their next pick. Dylan is up.
  4. At the recommendation of a true fan of the National Wrestling Alliance, Central States has announced that their debut on national television, airing 11am on the USA Network, will, if plans go through, will be a combination of the return of Wrestling at the Chase, consisting of a half hour of professional wrestling presented by Central States, taped at the historic Chase Park Plaza Hotel, followed by a half hour of the best action from around the National Wrestling Alliance. --- Yeah, so, basically, it was suggested to me that branding my portion of the national television slot Wrestling at the Chase would be the directiomn to go, and I definitely agree. That said, I am honestly VERY interested in using the slot to further the aims of the entire NWA, so I'm opening up slots for matches on the show to anyone interested in getting their wrestlers national exposure. You provide the match, lock, stock, and barrel, and it will air in the second half of the show. No 'trades' needed, I'm benefiting by getting eyes on my product, as are you. I'm sure that the WWF and JCP will have NO issues with this >_>
  5. Central States is proud to become the flagship wrestling organization of middle America, featuring such talents as NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race, the great Nick Bockwinkel, and the intimidating King Kong Bundy. Tune in at 11am, coast to coast to see the best talent the National Wrestling Alliance has to offer! ----- Standing offer to any NWA affiliate which would like to provide matches to this national spotlight.
  6. Done.
  7. No dice. Having recently spoken with NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race, David is excited about his prospects for the future in the new look Central States, soon to be the flagship of the NWA.
  8. Would it be bad form to offer you DVE for the slot and draft picks? >_>
  9. Sorry? EDIT: and, for the record, I didn't see your post before I made my pick, so it wasn't on purpose.
  10. I have a feeling I just took him. EDIT: In my eyes, he was the top face available, and I really, really need one. I honestly can't believe he lasted this long.
  11. Central States is pleased to welcome ' The Yellow Rose of Texas', David Von Erich, to Missouri.
  12. Central States selects Gary Hart.
  13. With all of this territory talk, how far west can I go? >_>
  14. This. So much this. I know many people around here are more about the in-ring stuff, which, don't get me wrong, I love as much as the next guy, but it's EVERYTHING else that makes professional wrestling so special to me, and there's maybe no one who ever did it who embodies that like the Dream did. I don't ever get worked up/emotional about this type of stuff. Hell, I hardly get emotional about deaths in my personal life, but this one has hit me hard. I'm legitimately sad. I wasn't a huge Dusty fan growing up, being in Los Angeles and thus a WWF kid, but, going back, watching everything, he's one of the greatest, hands down. There might not have ever been a more charismatic human being in the history of the world. This will sound over the top, but I kinda feel like a part of my fandom has died. Not in the sense that I'm less of a wrestling fan than I was before I woke up this morning, maybe the opposite, but in that a piece is gone that will never come back.
  15. Is AJ and NJ on tour on July 1st? New Japan started a tour on 7/1/83 Abdullah the Butcher Adrian Adonis Brian Blair Dick Murdoch Tiger Chung Lee Paul Orndorff (7/22 - 8/4) All-Japan started a tour on 7/8/83 Alexis Smirnoff Gypsy Joe Jerry Oates Terry Funk Nick Bockwinkel Gerry Morrow Tiger Jeet Singh So no Abdullah until August? Oh well. At least I'm not Central States who has to go without Bockwinkel. We'll get our filming for July done before he leaves!
  16. Just heard about this. Dusty is/was probably my favorite person to just listen to talk in the history of ever. I'm pretty much in shock right now. I have the day off, I think I'm going to use it watching Dusty Rhodes promos. RIP The American Dream
  17. Swerve?
  18. This might be a little out of the box, but I'd go with ECW's Hardcore TV in 1995. It was, arguably, the best year for the promotion, and the television was a work of art, everything cut together to make it look even better than it was. The characters were on point, you had serious stuff, funny stuff, random stuff. It was one of the most entertaining wrestling programs ever put together, which, in the end, is what matters to me. Top that off, you had what was probably the best in-ring product ECW put out, early in the year you still had Guerrero, Benoit, Malenko, which is what puts it over the top for me.
  19. Cool. I'm still trying to do research on Central States, so I'm not aware of all the politics at the time. 1983 is a little out of my wheelhouse, a little before my time.
  20. He did try and call the WWF Championship the 'World Title', so I guess what I'm saying is... 'Night gathers, and so my watch begins, it shall not end until I am bought out by the WWF, I shall take no champion, hold no other territory, begin no wars. I shall claim no title, share my glory. I shall live and die in my territory. I am the suplex in the ring. I am the hot tag on the apron. I am the shield that guards the Alliance. I pledge my promotion and honor to the National Wrestling Alliance for this card, and all the cards to come.' As for St. Louis, obviously I'd love to have it in my loop, but if the decision comes down to go another way, I'm not going to pitch a fit. I'll take him, seems like he'd fit perfectly with us.
  21. I was preparing to select Heenan with my second pick. With him, you can use lesser guys in higher positions as heels, because he'll get them over easily. I was going to package him with Bock, then after that had run it's course, I was going to use him to get over other people against my top faces. He's almost like an 'easy button' for getting heels over. Not sure if I pulled the trigger on Ace too early, but he's somewhat of a native to the area, is coming off wrestling for the WWF Title (for what that's worth), and I'm hoping can play face for a bit based on being from Kansas City, even if it's on the wrong side of the border. Might be asking too much of the fanbase, though.
  22. With their second selection of the 1983 Dispersal Draft Central States selects Kansas City, Kansas native... 'Cowboy' Bob Orton Jr.
  23. I'm on PST, but I can pretty much check my phone whenever at work, so a shorter time isn't that big a deal. Am I the only one drafting 'on the fly'? I have specific roles I'm looking to fill, but I'm also going 'best available player' to fill the most important of those roles. I think it allows me to roll with the punches a little more. I know who I really want in the second round, but I'm not sure he'll be there, If he is, great, if not, I'll figure it out. Are the retired workers available to draft? For instance, if I draft Terry Funk, does he become available again when he started wrestling again IRL, or are we doing some random thing with him? He's very tempting to take the chance on, kinda like drafting the running back who tore his ACL his senior year of college in the fourth round, you know?
  24. Barry was on my shortlist if I'd gone face in the first.
