  1. SuperClash was awesome!! I really enjoyed the creativity of the opening match with those eliminated must leave the AWA. Really helps you move on in an exciting way. The 2-1 of Patera and Rheingans would be too much for almost anyone including DiSalvo I like the choice of Jumbo over Big Jim... Jumbo is a legend. Hansen/Orndorff- Instant classic. Liked Taylor vs Muracco. I think both of these guys are underrated. Also like Muracco as the babyface. Not sure I ever saw this side of him but he was so good on the mic and with a huge smile, I think he would be great at anything he did. I think the Fantastics-RnR Express was the match of the night and you could have gone either way with it. Looking forward to what's next for the Express. Great write up of the main event. Like Mr. T getting involved again. Can't believe we are heading into another year. AWA is on fire as always. Great little updates on who is leaving and who is coming to the AWA in 1990. Your roster seems to have a great balance of vets and rookies. Going to be a fun year!
  2. Loved all the effort you put into SNME. The promos were spot on. Awesome job! Really excited for KOR. I always thought that it was a great event. Heenan has a great Family but also has some serious people coming after him. This is going to be awesome. Bossman-Nailz is great booking. Looking forward to this one. Also think Manny and Duggan are great for each other... two bulls beating the crap out of each other seems like a great watch to me. Very realistic Prime Time with each segment hyping up a future show. Between the Royal Rumble and Boston Show, the WWF is rolling. This switch of territories really seems to have re-energized you. Awesome job!!!!
  3. January 11, 1990 Curt Hennig-Jerry Lawler These two superstars have had two epic matches in recent months. The first ended in a 60-minute draw but Hennig was awarded the USWA title by way of the “Coin Flip Heard Around the USWA.” Next, Lawler seemed to be on the verge of winning the title until Randy “Macho Man” Savage came off the top rope with the flying elbow to the back of the head of Lawler resulting in the DQ win for the King, but the title stayed with Hennig. Next, we see a video clip from their most recent match that shows Hennig and Lawler starting off with some great chain wrestling with quick technical moves like armbars, head scissors, hip tosses all with quick reversals into another move, often with the champ ending the series in control. As we move farther onto the highlights, we see Lawler and Hennig into a bit of a brawl and then we see the Lawler piledriver and the Macho Man elbow. This week during the segment, “Spanning the USWA,” the Memphis fans are shown an interview in the bowels of the Cajundome where Lance Russell is talking to a worn-out Curt Henning. First Hennig vehemently denies any collusion between Savage and himself and has no idea why Savage attacked Lawler. Next, when Russell asks what it’s like wrestling Jerry Lawler, Hennig takes a deep breath before answering. Curt Hennig: To tell you the truth, it takes a while to unwind… the pain from the pounding I just took still hasn’t completely set in as the adrenaline is still running through my body. So I bet I’ll have some trouble falling asleep tonight… but in all honesty… the hell will set in tomorrow as I try to get out of bed. I will ache in every part of my head but let me change the subject for just a minute. It is about an hour since my match ended tonight and the word has already begun to trickle down to me from my “friends” in the business… that Jerry Jarrett and Bill Watts … because of how tonight’s match ended, are discussing a rematch between Jerry Lawler and myself. A rematch because of what Randy Savage did… which again, I had nothing to do with… a rematch because we want to treat all these humanoids to the two best wrestlers in the USWA… a rematch because both Jarrett and Watts know I am their cash cow and they want to use me to make every last dollar for their pockets. Well, let me tell you this… it is a rematch that I completely disagree with. You see, tomorrow morning, I will probably be eating soup for breakfast. I will be taking my meals through a straw for the next few weeks and you want to known why?.... Well, I’ll tell you why. That man that you stupid fans want so badly to be your champion… Jerry Lawler… is not a wrestler… Watch the video tape… I dominated in the sport of wrestling. I had him locked every which way. He could barely breath… that is until Lawler changed the sport. He decided to change the marquee on the sign outside of the arena from Wrestling to Bar Room Brawling.” Go ahead, count the amount of punches he threw. I will guarantee there was more than a fifty. He is not a wrestler… he doesn’t know the first thing about the sport of Kings yet he calls himself a king! Nonsense. Listen closely Jerry Jarrett. Listen closely Bill Watts and most Important Jerry Lawler, if I am forced to wrestle you again, it will be under my terms or I walk away from the USWA and I take your precious title with me. When we are back live in Memphis, Jerry Lawler is with Lance Russell and Russell is holding a piece of paper with him. Russell explains that this is the official contract sent to the CWA for Jerry Lawler to sign for a rematch between The King and Curt Henning for the Midsouth Coliseum for January 27th. At first Lawler is excited to sign but Lance tells him to hold on a minute and goes on to explain that there is a stipulation in the contract that says that every punch Jerry Lawler throws in the match, it will cost him $500 and that $500 will go directly into the bank account of Curt Henning. Jerry Lawler: (with a smirk on his face) Its true Lance that $500 for every punch I throw is a lot of money. I bet that if I had to pay $500 for every punch I threw in the last fight that I would be completely broke by now. But what choice do I have. This is the only way to get a rematch this quickly so of course I’m going to sign the contract. Hennig sits down there in Louisiana and likes to talk about what a great wrestler he is and that all I can do is throw punches. Well listen up Hennig. If you’re such a great wrestler and know all these moves and had me all tied up in knots, then why haven’t you been able to be beat me yet? In fact, it was my piledriver… a legal wrestling move, that had me about to beat you until Randy Savage got involved…. But I will agree with something you said Henning. I do like to throw punches. In fact, I think I have a pretty good punch. So, let’s do the math. If I throw 20 punches, it will cost me $10,000. If I throw 50 punches, it will cost me $25,000. Both are large amounts of money… but nowhere near the amount of money I will earn as the new USWA World Heavyweight Champion. Oh, and let’s not forget that by Hennig putting this stipulation in the contract, he has just made punching legal in this rematch… BIG MISTAKE CURT. BIG MISTAKE. I’m about to legally knock you out… give you a little money which won’t cover your hospital bills and then become a very wealthy world champion. Jimmy Golden Issue Jimmy Golden was at the podium with the other Studd Stable members (Robert Fuller & Sid Eudy) He was gloating about how easy it was to trick the Freebirds into believing that he was on their side and how good it was to once again be a member of the Studd Stable and to, under the Freebird Rule, to be one of the Southern Tag Team Champions. This brought out Eddie Marlin, who was very displeased that Jimmy Golden would abuse his power as a special guest referee and get involved in the title match between the Studd Stable and the Freebirds. He also informed Golden that, since he was not an official member of the Studd Stable when they won the Southern Tag Team Title, the Freebird Rule doesn’t apply, and he is not a current Southern Tag Team Champion. Golden argued but to no avail. Fuller didn’t seem to care too much as it seemed he was happier that he and Eudy would be the only champions and offered Golden to be a manager if he got his managerial license. This really set Golden off as he once again blamed Fuller for abandoning him in the Carolinas and then he started to mouth off to Sid Eudy but as the monster started to step towards him, Golden backed off… in fact… he stormed off. Lance Russell and Dave Brown ended the promo wondering if this was the last we would see Golden as he seemed to be all alone. Brad Armstrong-Dirty Dutch Mantel/Dirty White Boy Situation Brad Armstrong has been the poster boy for fighting illegal objects the CWA recently. First, he defeated the Dirty White Boy and his illegal forearm brace and then more recently, he has been dealing with Dirty Dutch and Shoo Baby. We see a video from last week where Dirty Dutch and the Dirty White Boy dressed up as the Grapplers in a match where Armstrong thought he was wrestling the Grappler. DWB and Dutch proceeded to get revenge on Dutch in a vicious 2-1 attack. This week, Dutch and the Dirty White Boy were gloating about how the beat the Do-Gooder to a pulp last week and how he got exactly what he deserved. This is when Brad came out and challenged the two to a tag team match in the Midsouth Coliseum with a mystery partner. Dutch and the Dirty White Boy had a good laugh at this as they were pretty sure the only person good enough to help an Armstrong must not be much of a wrestler. They accepted but then as Brad seemed rather confident, Dutch and the DWB wanted a hint but Brad just walked off. New Tag Team Debuts The fans were thoroughly entertained by the new CWA tag team of Cold as Ice. This paring of Iceman King Parsons and Too Cold Scorpio had the fans out of their seats with the “We Are Family” entrance and then their high fling moves as they defeated The Harris Brothers. Speaking of New Additions to the CWA While we did not see their new additions this week, Tojo Yamamota and Paul Bearer both promised that new wrestlers would soon be joining their stable. Tojo promised that along with Tarzan Goto, his new addition would make the son of the American Dream would be paying homage to the Land of the Rising Sun. Paul Bearer told people that they should make very smart decisions in their lives which may include getting out of the wrestling business as his Undertaker and Soul Taker are sure to control their After Life. Lance Russell and Dave Brown again seemed very nervous just being around The Undertaker and Paul Bearer. Other Matches Signed For the Midsouth Coliseum Southern Title Match: Jeff Jarrett vs Tarzan Goto Freebirds vs Greg Valentine & Honky Tonk Man with Jimmy Hart Dustin Rhodes vs Eddie Gilbert with Jimmy Hart As the show is going off the air Eddie Marlin rushes out and asks is there a doctor in the house…Quickly we need a doctor… When Lance asks what’s going on, Eddie simple responds Jerry Lawler… Rand Savage uh… And the screen fades to black.
  4. UWF switches Moondogs to Rex and Spot and releases Spot and Moretti
  5. Memphis adds Rip Oliver and Spike Huber
  6. January 4, 1990 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. Before we get to Lance Russell and Dave Brown, we see a video with Randy “Macho Man” Savage standing atop the top rope where he leaps and lands on Jerry “The King” Lawler who had “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig covered as the ref was making his count. Lance Russell: Yellow again everybody. Lance Russell and Dave Brown here for Championship Wrestling, a member if the USWA, the finest name in all of professional wrestling. By golly we’ve got a whole heck of a lot of things to get to today including what we just saw on that video. I mean can you believe it… The Macho Man, one of the greatest wrestlers in the world arrived here in the USWA and attacked Jerry “The King” Lawler. To be honest with you Dave, I’ve got no idea what that was all about. Dave Brown: Me neither Lance, but before we get into that and everything else that happened at Last Stand, I’ve been asked to make a special announcement on behalf of Eddie Marlin…. Bluegrass Championship Wrestling has been admitted into the USWA. This now makes the USWA an alliance between Bluegrass Championship Wrestling, the CWA and UWF. Lance Russell: Wow Dave that is big news, but I guess when you’re seen as the greatest wrestling organization in the world, territories just want to be a part of it. So welcome Bluegrass Championship Wrestling. Dave Brown: That’s right Lance and what a time to join the USWA… I mean USWA Wrestling is on fire after Last Stand. What an event. All the great stars of the UWF were introduced to the Memphis fans in a big way. I mean the Steiner Brothers, “The World’s Strongest Man” Bill Kazmaier, Jimmy Jack Funk, the cousin of Terry and Dory Funk, Dick Slater, the Angel of Death, Hacksaw Butch Reed, Ron Simmons and then we had “The Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich beat “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel for the UWF title! That is one stacked roster. Lance Russell: True that Dave but I think our CWA wrestlers held up their end of the bargain and as usual, left us with some questions that need to be answered. As we already saw, Randy Savage arrived out of nowhere and cost the King the USWA World Title. I mean I hope 1990 is a better year for Jerry Lawler... I mean just in the last month, we see a brutal attack on Lawler by Jimmy Hart and the First Family and then he losses the World Title on a coin flip and now… Randy Savage, a man that has never stepped foot in Memphis, (at least not in Dawn of War) attacks him just as he was on the verge of becoming the World Champion. Dave Brown: Amen to the idea of a better year for the King but that’s not all we’ve got to figure out here after Last Stand. I mean is Jimmy Golden back with the Studd Stable… was this all a trick to defeat the Freebirds? And what about Dirty Dutch Mantel who defeated Brad Armstrong to become the new Tri-State Champion? Did you see that object he pulled out of his trunks and how he tossed it into the stands before Nick Patrick saw it? Lance Russell: I don’t want to say I told you so, but did you expect anything different from Dutch Mantell. And then we had to say goodbye to a great American… Sgt Slaughter, who really came here to protect me from Tojo and his monster, Tarzan Goto. Thanks Sarge and I wish you the best wherever you go. Dave Brown: Agreed… Well let’s get to today’s great show. We have 5 matches for our fans here in the first show of a new decade. First, it’ll be a new tag team to the area, Devil’s Duo facing off against the Batten Twins. Then the Undertaker faces the Italian Stallion. Next, fans be ready to be up and out of your seat as the hoedown will begin as Cousin Junior makes his arrival in the CWA and he squares off against “The Professor” Bill Ash . Dustin Rhodes will face the Assassin and in the main event, it’ll be Brad Armstrong facing off against the Grappler. It looks like the Batten Twins are in the ring waiting the arrival of Devil’s Duo so let’s get to the ring…. MATCH #1 Devil’s Duo vs The Batten Twins Suddenly, the camera quickly comes back to Lance Russell as we see Randy Savage storming the podium area…. Randy Savage: Hey, do you who you’re talking to? Do you know who I am? I’m the “Macho Man” Randy Savage. 7 long years… 7 longs years…. Get him out here right now. Get him out here right now! Get him out here right NOW! Lance Russell: Mr. Savage… First, I don’t know why you’re here. You don’t work for the CWA and also, you seem to be rambling. I am unsure what you want. Randy Savage: Don’t you tell me nothing Lance Russell… Nothing… 7 years, 7 long years my father Angelo Poffo tried to get his Kentucky Rastling Territory to join with the CWA…. 7 years. Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett refused to even meet my father. Get him out here now. Get Jerry Lawler out here now… Suddenly Eddie Marlin in on the scene and tells Randy Savage that he has no right to be here, and that Jerry Lawler has been instructed to not come to the podium. Marlin goes on to tell Savage to leave or security will be called to escort him out. Randy Savage: You instructed Lawler to remain in the back because you are afraid of what the Macho Man will do to him but if I need to rip you to pieces as a representative of the CWA that’s fine. How dare you people disrespect my father like you did. (Savage spits a huge spit towards Marlin and screams that he spits on Lawler… He spits on Jarrett… He spits on the CWA… He spits on Bluegrass Championship Wrestling) Lance Russell: Randy… this seems a little ridiculous. You’re upset about something that happened 5 years ago? Randy Savage: Don’t tell me nothing man… nothing! I’m here because you let Bluegrass Championship Wrestling into the USWA after one meeting when my father asked you people for 7 years… 7 long years! How dare you disrespect him, me and everything my family stands for. Because of people like Jerry Lawler, Jerry Jarrett and you Eddie Marlin… I’m here to wreck havoc on the CWA. You saw what I’m capable the other day in the Cajundome and I won’t stop before I put an end to Lawler, Jarrett and the CWA!!! Savage storms to the ring where the Batten brothers are still waiting for their match. Savage hits the ring and is running around like a lunatic. WHAM… DDT on Brad. WHAM… Irish Whip… diving elbow… piledriver on Bart. Off the top rope… elbow drop on Brad. Off the top rope … elbow drop on Bart. Suddenly we get about 6 security guards… All 6 are down within seconds. Now we are at 12 security guards and finally they have Savage under their control and take him, kicking and screaming from the studio as Lance takes us to commercial break. COMMERCIAL BREAL When we come out of break, Lance tries to restore order, but the studio is still buzzing about Savage. Eddie Marlin is still with Lance where he tells us the next big event at the Mid-South Coliseum will be on January 27. He also announces that on March 24, also at the Mid-South Coliseum, there will be a one-night tag team tournament with teams from the CWA, UWF and Bluegrass Championship Wrestling and the winner of this tournament will be crowned the first USWA Tag Team Champions. Lance tries to hype up these huge cards coming to Memphis but you can tell all anyone cares about is Randy Savage. Next, Jerry Lawler appears, and the fans are eager to hear what he has to say. Jerry Lawler: First of all, I want to clarify that Eddie Marlin demanded that I stay in the back during all that Savage crap we just saw. He said that if anything happened to Savage, there was a good chance that both the CWA and I would be sued by that lunatic as he is not a CWA wrestler… and trust me… the anger that has been inside of me since Last Stand and the fact that Savage cost me the World Title… he would have been hurt! Now Savage was running around here talking about who we cheated his father out a chance to be with the CWA…. We didn’t cheat that criminal Angelo Poffo out of nothing. He ran a two-bit organization that was trying to steal our fans in Kentucky and when he failed he wanted us to bail him out. Not Going To Happen Buddy! Now as far as Bluegrass Championship Wrestling and Bret Prentice… they did things the right way. They came to us. They told us what they could do for us and how we could help them. They did everything with class, and I look forward to working with them for a long time. Remember the key word … class… and as far as what you just saw… Savage… his father… their time in Kentucky… ALL CLASSLESS! And as for the classless…. They can go out with the garbage… and the garbage is just where I plan on putting Randy Savage when Eddie Marlin gives me the go-ahead! Lance Russell: Thanks for clearing that all up King. And I’m sure I speak for all the fans here in Memphis, we never thought for a minute you were afraid of Savage. Folks, as a result of the attack you just saw on the Batten brothers, they are in no shape to wrestle tonight so were are just going to get to our second match. MATCH #2 The Undertaker with Paul Bearer vs The Italian Stallion While the Italian Stallion has always been a decent mid-card guy, there was nothing he could do to slow down the Undertaker. It is his combination of power, agility and size that seem to make him unstoppable. In the end, we see the tombstone piledriver and the Italian Stallion lays motionless as the ref completes the three-count. Another eerie post-match interview has Paul Bear in his high pitched, slow speaking voice wondering who will be the next wrestler to meet their maker… um, I mean the Undertaker. As Paul Bearer and the Undertaker leave, Lance Russell stutters his way though introducing his next guest… the new Tri-State Champion, Dirty Dutch Mantel Lance Russell: Dutch, you never seem to amaze me. Dutch Mantell: Well I am pretty amazing and thank you for your congratulations on me winning this Tri-State Title. Lance Russell: That’s not what I meant. I amazed that you find a new way to cheat your way to victory each time. Dutch Mantel: I have no idea what your talking about but I would expect nothing less of you Lance. I defeat Brad Armstrong just like a said I would. I win this title just like I said you would and then you accuse me of cheating just like I knew you would. Lance Russell: Accuse you… It’s a fact! Take a look at the video. VTR: . Dutch whipped Brad Armstrong right into the ref and down went the ref. As Brad went to check on him, it appeared that Dutch pulled something out of his trunks and put it in his right hand… WHAM…. Dutch with the loaded fist knocks Brad down and he is basically out…. The ref starts to struggle to his feet. Dutch tossed the object into the crowd. WHAM… Dutch with a powerslam. The ref thinks nothing else has happened as the two appear to be wrestling. WHAM…. Running elbow drop on Armstrong. The cover…. 1…2…3! When the video ends, we see that Lance has brought out a small boy of about 9 years old who is holding a metal object which he claims was thrown by Dutch Mantell at Last Stand the other day. The object is solid iron and Lance Russell says that somebody could knock out a bull with this thing. Dutch really turns up the heat on the boy and wonders how someone so young could be so good at lying. He blames it all on bad parenting and actually puts a finger in the boy’s chest and tells him that he should take him out to the old woodshed and paddle his behind. The boy starts to cry and Dutch lets him know that tears don’t work on him and if he better tell the truth if he knows what’s good for him. WHAM… from behind Brad Armstrong is all over Dutch. The boy, still crying runs for cover as Brad gives Dutch another few blows before the Dirty Dutchmen runs off too. Lance and Brad are shaking their heads as Brad promises a different outcome when he gets his rematch against Dutch! Lance also takes the time to wish him luck against The Dirty White Boy later tonight. COMMERCIAL BREAL As we come out of break, we see a video of guest referee Jimmy Golden turning on the Freebirds and helping the Studd Stable regain the Southern Tag Team belts. When the video is over, Lance Russell is shaking his head in disgust at the actions of Jimmy Golden who was supposed to be an impartial referee. This brings out The Studd Stable, Robert Fuller and Sid Eudy, along with Jimmy Golden and they are laughing it up having a good time at the expense of the Freebirds. Fuller and Golden can’t believe how dumb the Freebirds actually to believe that Jimmy would actually side with them instead of his own family in Robert Fuller. Next, the truth comes out that the reason Sid Eudy replaced Jimmy Golden in the Studd Stable was that Golden was injured and needed time to mend but now that he is all healed up, they can’t wait to use the Freebird rule to make sure they keep these Southern Tag Titles a long, long time. MATCH #3 Cousin Jr. vs “The Professor” Bill Ash The arrogant professor, Bill Ash enters the ring first and takes the house mic to insult the “stupidity” of all the fans as he brags about how smart he really is. Next, we hear the banjos start to play as Cousin Junior shuffles his way to the ring showing some great agility for a man his size as well as great “dancing” ability. The Professor goes a bit to far to point out how Cousin Jr. seems to fit right in here! Cousin Jr. turns his focus to Ash and quickly mule kicks his way to victory and we see the same hoedown as he exits the ring. Lance Russell seemed to really enjoy the show as do Jeff Jarrett and Miss. Tennessee who are at the podium where Miss. Tennessee focuses on Missy Hyatt who she is sick and tired of interfering in Eddie Gilbert’s matches. JJ, the Southern Heavyweight Champion, is also tired of Eddie Gilbert’s tactics also points out that sometimes good just wins out of evil as he has now beaten Eddie Gilbert 3 times in a row! After the match, the Freebirds are at the podium where there are real upset at themselves for trusting Jimmy Golden. Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin want the Studd Stable in the ring no matter which two they have to face as they believe the Southern Tag Team Titles were stolen from them. When asked by Lance Russell if they have spoken to Buddy Roberts in the past week, post just kind of scoff like he’s dead to them. COMMERCIAL BREAL As we come out of the break, Dustin Rhodes is at the podium, and he is real disappointed that he couldn’t do enough at Last Stand to keep Sgt. Slaughter here in the CWA but he thanks him for his help. When asked what he thought about the tactics of Tojo and Tarzan Goto at Last Stand, Dustin simply shakes his head in frustration as he knew what to expect from those two but it still makes him sick to his stomach that they bad mouth the United States every chance they get but they stick around to earn our American dollars. Dustin vowed to send Tarzan back to Japan and if he needs to get someone to watch his back from Tojo, he knows just the person. MATCH Dustin Rhodes defeats The Assassin with the Running Bulldog After the match, Jimmy Hart and the entire First Family are with Lance Russell. Jimmy is real proud of himself that he was able to go down to the Cajundome for Last Stand with the UWF tag team champions where Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Honky Tonk Man once again put Hacksaw Reed and Ron Simmons in there place. When Lance reminded Jimmy that his team lost the match because of his interference, Jimmy points out that coming home as the champions doesn’t sound like losing to him. Lance then turns the conversation towards Eddie Gilbert who once again failed to win the Southern Heavyweight Title against Jeff Jarrett, Jimmy Hart, Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert all throw a tantrum about the outside interference by Miss. Tennessee. Lance pretends to be confused and says so, its okay when Jimmy Hart interferes but it is wrong when someone interferes with The First Family. Hart quickly answered “that’s right” before he realized he put his foot in his mouth. Hart quickly changes the subject and says that he has an answer for Miss. Tennessee anytime she dares to interfere with Family Business again. COMMERCIAL BREAK MAIN EVENT Brad Armstrong vs The Grappler The problems started early in this one as both Grapplers came to the ring and this seemed more like a handicap match then a singles match. Somehow, Brad was able to withstand the dirty tactics and had the momentum. The Grappler managed to roll out of the ring where the real trickery started as the “fresh” Grappler rolled himself into the ring. WHAM… The new Grappler with a knee to Armstrong. WHAM… Powerbomb by the Grappler…. The second Grappler had wondered over to the podium and corrected Lance…”Don’t you mean a Bucksnort Blaster! Suddenly the Grappler in the ring removes his mask and it’s the Dirty White Boy who has not been seen in the CWA since Thanksgiving when Brad won the Tri-State Title and the DWB was suspended for using a loaded forearm. Next, Grappler #2 removes his mask and its none other than Dutch Mantel. Now it is a 2-1 beatdown. After a pretty good beating on Brad they head over to the podium where the Dirty White Boy announces that the only thing better then the Dirty White Boy is the Dirty White Boy and Dirty Dutch!! Lance is just shaking his head as he signs off for the week, “Until next time, so long from Memphis.”
  7. Really enjoyed the sow. The format was easy to follow and the way you used Jim Ross was so realistic! Great job. Looking forward to working with you in the USWA!
  8. Great recaps of all the big matches coming up at Superclash. Can't wait for this one!
  9. Looking forward to U-COSMOS. This press conference really made is seem so serious.
  10. and Merry Christmas back to you Dan Severn
  11. Awesome segment with Al Madril. So well done. Also great promo with Cannonball and Sandman. Very creative. I wonder what's the future of Kendall. Also, like the use of your two heel managers. DJ and Humperdink are so different but both know how to get the heat. So far, I think the heels are staking a claim to the PWF. Mulligan has his work cut out for him and I'm looking forward to seeing his response. This is so fun to read. Thanks for all the work on your promos. I know they must take a while to come up with such great material.
  12. Good update. Welcome to the USWA. This should be fun.
  13. you are correct
  14. CWA adds The Alaskan Hunter Bob Brown, Italian Stallion, Solomon Grundy, Bill Ash, Jeff Sword, and Doug Vines
  15. Looking forward to your first big event
  16. Great all around card for the people of Florida but more importantly.... I love Alberto Madril as the lawyer..... AWESOME!!
  17. There will be a shared USWA champion who is Curt Hennig right now. We still need to discuss the tag team title situation.
  18. First, one note on the show. It seems that USWA World Champion, Curt Hennig, holds much of the power in the new alliance between the UWF and the CWA. He announced that the next time he faced Jerry “The King” Lawler, Lawler would have to come to him as he would not return to Memphis. This seemed to be a problem for Jerry Jarrett and Bill Watts as the next big USWA event was already booked for December 30th at the Midsouth Coliseum and both knew that the “Coin Flip” match where Hennig became the champ has left a bad taste in the mouths of all the fans in Memphis and that a rematch needed to happen. Jarrett and Watts were able to come up with a solution… a split venue card with closed caption viewing available to both sets of fans. This resulted in a 12 match card with 6 matches at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana and 6 matches at the Midsouth Coliseum. With Hennig refusing to come to Memphis, Lawler will still get his rematch for the world title; only this time it’ll be in Louisiana. The Undertaker with Paul Bearer vs Eric Embry (Midsouth Coliseum) Eric Embry has gained the reputation of being an individual who will not back down from any opponent regardless of the size, but this is a different level. The Undertaker arrived in Memphis about a month ago and has run roughshod over everyone. He’s truly the most athletic big man that Lance Russell has ever seen and his forward facing piledriver that Paul Bearer has called the Tombstone has left each opponent needing help to the locker room. If that wasn’t enough, the creepy interviews with Paul Bearer and his talk of coffins and the dead have Lance and Dave Brown on edge. Also, for some strange reason, each time the Undertaker has left the studio, the lights have flickered on and off with the words, “The Madness is Coming” flashing across the screen. The only question left to be answered as Last Stand 89 gets started is can Embry slow down the big man… most people doubt it. As for the match, it is all Undertsker. From his top rope waking elbow smashes, to his running shoulder blocks to his Tombstone Piledriver, Eric Embry never had a moment to wrestle on top. In fact, this 2-minute match had the fans worried if Embry would need one of those coffins that Paul Bearer had been talking about. The high-pitched voice of Bearer moaning, “I wonder who will dare to be next” had fans nervous as the Deadly Duo exited the Coliseum. Rick & Scott Steiner vs The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal)- (Cajundome) The New Breed arrived in the UWF a few shorts weeks ago and have been claiming they are the future of tag team wrestling. They come to the ring in their outfits from “the future” and seemed to have little difficult in defeating the jobbers they have faced so far. Their gimmick has not gotten over very well with the fans in the down and dirty territory, but the New Breed just says that’s because they are stuck in the past in this hick state. The bigger problem for the New Breed came last week when they interrupted the Steiner Brothers who were doing their first interview in UWF. The New Breed tried to claim that they were the future of tag team wrestling and the Steiners should stick to singles matches. This led to the Steiners tearing of the new aged outfits of the tag team from the future and leaving them in there in their boxer shorts… So here we go. Much like the first match in the Midsouth Coliseum, this one was rather quick and one sided as the Steiners showed the New Breed who the real tag team of the future was. While Champion and Royal have pretty good size and power, they were not ready for the Steiners combination of technical throws and brute force. The end came with a devasting two move combo that left both Champion and Royal down for the count. First, Rick scooped up Sean and walked him over to Scott who was standing on the top rope…. WHAM… DDT on Royal by Scott from the top rope…. Next, Rick lifted Champion onto the middle rope and connected with a belly to belly suplex from the middle rope. Both men were left motionless on the mat for the pin as Scott Steiner pulls out a red towel and places it over Royal and Champion and yells, “You two have just been Steinerized!” Jimmy Golden vs Buddy Robert: Winner is the Special Guest Referee between the Freebirds and The Studd Stable for the Southern Tag Team Titles (Midsouth Coliseum) This has been developing for a while now as we’ve had two “family feuds” intermingling. First, Buddy Roberts appeared in the CWA and went after Michael Hayes as he was unhappy that he wasn’t part of the new Freebirds with Hayes and Jimmy Garvin. Next, Jimmy Golden appeared in the CWA and was unhappy with Robert Fuller who tossed him out of the Studd Stable in favor of Sid Eudy. Tonight, it’ll once again by Hayes and Garvin vs Fuller and Eudy but with one twist… a special referee…. And in this case… most likely a very biased referee. Golden vs Roberts to see who will ref and most likely decide the Southern Tag Team Title Match. As for this match, because of the Family Feuds, these two have grown to hate each other in a very short period of time. It is a brawl from the opening bell. Eventually, Buddy Roberts seems to have gained some control as Golden has injured his shoulder as he went for a shoulder block and Roberts moved away and Golden crashed into the ring post. Buddy Roberts heads up to the top rope and is going for a big-time knee drop… WHAM… Golden moved at the last second and Buddy crashed hard. Golden quickly recovers and connects with a few big right hands and then whips Buddy into the ropes and connects with a big boot. WHAM… Piledriver by Golden and he gets the win and the honor of being the ref in the big match tonight. “The World’s Strongest Man” Bill Kazmaier vs Jimmy Jack Funk (Cajundome) Kazmaier has recently appeared in the UWF and his power and huge smile has endeared him to the fans as they seem him like a giant cuddly teddy bear. This niceness has gotten on the nerves of one individual specifically… Jimmy Jack Funk, the masked cousin of Terry and Dory. As for the match, we have Jimmy Jack starting fast as a result of attacking before the bell. Kazmaier, due to his power soon gets to wrestle from the top and in the third and final stage, Funk managed to toss the big man out of the ring where all hell seemed to break loose, Funk nailed Kazmaier with anything that wasn’t nailed down… from chairs, to the actually ring bell, Funk was like man possessed. In the end we get three things. First, a Double Count-out as a result of the chaos. Second, a bloody Kazmaier and third… A very angry Wild Bill. Funk seemed to notice the change in the big man, and decided it was smarter to head for the exit rather than risk Kazmaier getting his hands on him. As Funk headed up the aisle, we see Kazmaier shake the cobwebs off and race after Jimmy Jack. What happened behind that curtain, we will never know. Brad Armstrong © vs Dirty Dutch Mantell for the Tri-State Title (Memphis) A few weeks ago, this match was not going to happen. Dirty Dutch had asked Brad for a title match but Brad said that he didn’t deserve a title match as so many of his wins came as a result of cheating and using his whip Shoo Baby. Eddie Marlin, the CWA president seemed to agree. He explained since the Dirty White Boy was not getting a rematch for the title he lost as a result of cheating in his match with an illegal object, Dirty Dutch shouldn’t get that title match either. This all changed last week when Dutch interrupted an interview with Brad Armstrong and called him a coward and then spit in his face. This set Brad off and when the brawl was over, he begged Eddie Marlin to sign the title match for Last Stand and that is what happened. Nobody can deny that Dutch used his “Dirtiness” to get exactly what he wanted. As for the match, Brad Armstrong bumped and sold so beautifully that this match was one of the highlights of the event. Unfortunately, he might have bumped and sold to good. The cover…. 1…2…3! The ref calls for the bell and awards Dutch the title. The crowd is screaming that Dutch cheated and used an object. The ref asks Dutch who vehemently denies it. The crowd is still screaming. The ref searches Dutch… finds nothing… shrugs his shoulders and raises the new champ’s hand. The ref goes to check on Brad as Dutch leaves with his new title raised high above his head. Dutch is gone when suddenly a fan appears at ringside with a small steel bar that he is claiming Dutch used in the ring. The ref with no reply or anything just waves him off. “The Rebel” Dick Slater vs The Angel of Death with Woman (Cajundome) It was hard to tell who the babyface was in this match as it was just a brawl from the beginning to the end with the only real wrestling move coming at the end as Slater locked in the Figure Four on the Angel of Death after he came up lame after coming down wrong on the knee jumping from the middle rope. Angle of Death had no choice but to submit. The end was also interesting as Woman seemed to be eyeing Slater as if she liked what she saw. Dustin Rhodes & Sgt. Slaughter vs Tarzan Goto & Tojo Yamamota: (Loser Leave Town/No DQ Match: (Midsouth Coliseum) No need to get into too much of this Patriotic match as we know this one is going to be a brawl so let’s just get to the big momentum swing… Sarge had just been thrown into the ring post and was down. Tarzan grabbed Dustin from behind while Tojo reached into his trunks and came out with some powder which he tossed into the eyes of Dustin. Rhodes began to flail all around and then was rolling in agony, reaching and scratching his eyes. As this was a No DQ match, the ref could do nothing about it. Tojo and Goto then turned their attention to Slaughter and they double teamed him for a few minutes. Rhodes was of no use as he seemed to be completely blind. WHAM… Kendo Stick by Tojo to the head of Sgt…. Over and over again Tojo beat on Slaughter but he kept coming. No matter what they do Japanese wrestlers did, Slaughter wouldn’t stay down. It was a miracle he was still breathing, never mind still fighting. Unfortunately, in the end, the 2-1 attack proved to much and Slaughter was defeated after back to back powerslams by the nearly 400 pound Tarzan! While Slaughters time in the CWA was short, the fans really appreciated what he tried to do and gave him a great ovation on his way out. With the stipulation of the match, only Sarge will be moving on while Dustin Rhodes is going to have to find a new helper in his battle against Tojo and his monster. Buddy Landel © vs Kerry Von Erich: UWF Title Match (Cajundome) The Nature Boy has been strutting around the UWF proclaiming that nobody was in his class as a wrestler…. Even though he kept refusing to fight Kerry VonErich. Bill Watts finally had enough and signed the deal. At first, Landel was fuming but his arrogance soon kicked in and he was sure that he would leave Last Stand as the champion. As for the match, Landel tried every dirty trick in the book but VonErich would not be denied. After chasing Landel all around the ring, he finally caught the champ with a Tornado Punch and followed it up for the win with the Iron Claw. Jeff Jarrett © vs Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt: 2 out of 3 Falls for the Southern Heavyweight Title (Midsouth Coliseum) The big talk around Memphis was not so much about the match but that Jimmy Hart would not be with his main man today as he headed down to Louisiana with his UWF tag team champs, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Honky Tonk Man. Eddie Gilbert didn’t seem to mind as Missy was still with him and he knew that he could beat Jarrett with two hands tied behind his back. As for the match, Gilbert used every dirty trick in the book to keep control of the first fall which he eventually won with a Hot Shot Suplex. The second fall was rather strange as Eddie Gilbert asked Missy for a chair which he sat on in the corner for the one minute break between falls …. but Eddie was not being his normal cocky self. He had a plan. The bell rings to start the fall and Eddie calmly stands up, folds the chair, walks over to JJ and cracks him over the head with the chair. The crowd is stunned as the ref calls for the bell and he disqualifies Eddie Gilbert… for the second fall. It is now 1-1 but JJ is basically out cold as Eddie Gilbert waits for the last fall to begin. The crowd suddenly erupts as Miss. Tennessee is rushing to the ring. Missy Hyatt gets in her way but she is tossed away like a rag doll. Miss. Tennessee is up on the apron and trying to get in the ring but the ref is restraining her. Eddie is daring her to come on in the ring… The bell sounds… the chaos continues until…. From behind… JJ rolls up Eddie Gilbert for the win. This is the third time that Eddie has lost focus against JJ and cost himself the Southern Heavyweight Title! Eddie is throwing a hissy fit of all hissy fits as Miss. Tennessee is laughing as hard as she could. Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and The Honky Tonk Man © with Jimmy Hart vs Hacksaw Butch Reed & Ron Simmons with Teddy Long: UWF Tag Title Match (Cajundome) Again, the interesting thing here is that Valnetine and Hony Tonk Man really work for the CWA but are the UWF tag team champions. This all occurred when Reed and Simmons put their titles on the line up in Memphis at Thanksgiving just to get their hands on the First Family. While this plan ultimately backfired, Valentine and HTM are required to wrestle at least once a month in the UWF to retain these titles so there will be opportunities for the UWF to get their titles back and tonight might just be the time. As for the match, Reed and Simmons start hot but Hart is able to trip up Simmons for the first momentum change. This seems to be the pattern of the match as neither Long or Hart will be outdone in the dirty tactic department. In the end, we see Reed hit the Military Press Slam on HTM and it looked like we were going to have new champs but Jimmy Hart, risking life and limb came crashing down on the Reed from the top rope causing the immediate DQ. While Hart did save the title, he and his First Family did take a bit of a beating in the brawl that ensued. The Freebirds (Hayes & Garvin) vs The Studd Stable (Robert Fuller & Sid Eudy): Southern Tag Team Title Match with Special Guest Referee Jimmy Golden (Memphis) This match starts as a wild melee with special referee Jimmy Golden almost acting as a 3rd Freebird. There is nothing unbiased about his actions and this almost seems like a handicap match. The Freebirds might be the fan favorites but they have no problem acting like the heels. Nearing the end, the Freebirds and Jimmy Golden toss big Sid Eudy out onto the floor. Now they focus on Robert Fuller. WHAM… Big Boot by Golden on Fuller WHAM… Running Bulldog by Hayes on Fuller WHAM …. Brainbuster by Garvin on Fuller. Hayes covers Fuller as Jimmy Garvin starts to jump up and down in celebration. Golden with the count… 1….2….. Suddenly Golden stops but Garvin thinks he has made the three count. WHAM… DDT by Golden on Garvin!!!! Hayes looks up and is confused! WHAM…. Big Boot by Golden on Hayes!!!! Sid Eudy is now back in the ring. WHAM…. Eudy nearly breaks Hayes in half with the powerbomb! Golden drags Robert Fuller onto Hayes! 1…2…3! The Studd Stable with? Jimmy Golden have defeated the Freebirds for the Southern Tag Titles. As the trio leaves in celebration, they are being pelted with debris but they could care less! “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig © vs Jerry “The King” Lawler: USWA World Title Match (Cajundome) Even in his “home” territory. Hennig is not receiving any love from the fans tonight as Jerry Lawler showed a video tape of the coin flip to make Hennig the champ. Not that the coin flip made Henning look like the heel, it was his lies that he dominated the King in Memphis that made him look bad. As for the match, it was a carbon copy of the last match in the Mid-South Coliseum. Action packed with many momentum changes that saw the King nearing victory as the time-limit was expiring. After Lawler had connected with the middle rope fist drop, he connected with the piledriver and went for the pin. Referee saw Lawler cover Hennig but that was all as the lights went out. We now have a strobe light flashing…. “The Madness is Here,” The Madness is Here” Those watching in Memphis are confused as this saying has been repeated after each Undertaker interview and they thought it was linked to him. The lights come back on and Lawler is still covering Hennig. The ref is still set to begin the count …. But unbeknownst to the three in the ring, there is a figure is now perched atop the rope behind where the cover is about to take place. 1….. A gasp comes over the crowd as the recognize the figure on the top rope…. 2…. It is Randy Savage and he leaps…… The ref’s hand begins to fall for the third time….. WHAM…. Savage has just hit his famous elbow drop on Lawler and Lawler rolls off of Hennig. Savage is all over Lawler! Eventually, the locker room empties and Savage, who is like a madman, is finally pulled off of Lawler! One finally note, Jeff819 will be taking over the UWF side of the USWA. I am really looking forward to working with him.
  19. Well done show that helps us all get ready for Superclash. Nikita does his best to get hype up the big match by putting Hogan down but to me, it is Debeers that makes this match soo much better. He is even more heat then a Russian. Awesome job putting these two together. Also, I can't wait to see your plans for the Fantastics and the RnR Express. This has so many possibilities.
  20. Great Power Half Hour. Loved the back and forth between Joe and Ronnie. You have me wondering what is going to come out of this Tony Falk school. The Tazmaniacs are perfect for this territory. Loved the ending where the screen went to fuzz! Glad your back as this is always such a fun read.
  21. Really entertaining show this week and I am really looking forward to the big one on Christmas. The voodoo stock was a fun gimmick- great idea Great promo by Guerrero- Creative line with the Disney World rides. Had me laughing. Also, great promo by Blackjack after he 'd been tricked with the 3 minute match for Dundee. Again, great creative booking. Can't wait to find out who the lawyer was and to read the Christmas show.
  22. Enjoyed Future Shock. I think Luger is a good way to go with the title. Really good twist with the tag titles. I thought the Owen/Muta match was really well done. WCW seems to have its pecking order down. Looking forward to the future.
  23. Free agency is opened again
  24. Free Agency is currently closed as a new writer selects his roster.
  25. Great build up to Superclash. The attack on the Bullet, Mad Dog doing some biting and Nikita and Debeers going after Hogan really help to hype up these feuds!
