IIRC "stan" comes from the eponymous Eminem song, whose lyrics depicted an obssessed fan and his lifestyle. Nowadays, it's mostly about being a regular fan, but some are stans to the utmost degree. I saw like two or three Black promos, and this one was pretty good. But yeah... I can imagine getting tired of those if they've been running for like months. Just get him to wrestle already

What are people's thoughts on Aleister's promos?

It's all cool bubba. We can disagree on most things, and overall this is a pretty minor one. Although I do agree that having a bloated roster may dillute the perception the crowd has of certain wrestler. Too many people doing similar things is not ideal etc. On the other hand if there's something that this week showed, and that you were correct in saying so for like years, is that Rollins sure ain't the guy to be placed as the top talent. People like him and all but Brock is 100% the one making this program entertaining.

And the same applies here in WWE as well. He's getting over by doing what he does best, which is showcase his batshit insane athleticism.

The thing is that people think he's being wasted, and that's not even the case. The dude is portrayed as this insanely athletic dude, who can do insane acrobatic feats. Like, do people think his ceiling is that of a world champ? Or that he has this amazing charisma when giving promos? The most presence he had as a character was when he wrestled as Prince Puma and even then, Lucha Underground's way of storytelling is something very different from basically any other wrestling promotion. Like, it would be one thing to call Velveteen Dream up and reduce him to a guy having good matches, but without the promos, outfits and overall presentation. Ricochet, on the other, is a very good wrestler who's pushed by the commentary team as "a real life Marvel hero", and... that's the extent of who he is throughout his career. I get the overall criticism of WWE having "just guys" in their roster, and I mostly agree, but in this case I get the feeling people are really overrating him.

We still doing this "keep Roman strong" bit in 2019? Also, people complained about Rico but... his matches against Cesaro are really good? Dude was pretty much undefeated when he was tagging with Black and now he's going toe to toe with one half of the at worst 2nd best tag team in WWE. It's really not a bad place for him, specially considering how long he's been in the company.

The vignettes are good fun but I am so scared about how this will translate to an in ring setting.

The arm wrestling segment was a fun romp, and Lashley lifting Braun like nothing was cool. Needed to be more over the top, though....

NXT is in even worse shape than the main roster, in terms of ideas. Let's take the women's division, for instance. With the main roster we can say that they are trying to integrate Lacey Evans into the dance, and actually succeeded, plus they pushed Becky and Bayley is back on track again while Sasha is taking a break. On NXT, the only noteworthy wrestler in Shayna, and much of her presence is in detriment to the other wrestlers. Belair got defeated and didn't do much else afterwards, and Kairi's reign was a very short one. Baszler rules the division and doesn't really share the spotlight with anyone. The time they are waiting to give the Street Profits, one of the best acts around, a proper title reign is also pretty bad. I get criticizing the shit out of RAW and SD, but NXT feels like more of a black hole. If HHH is the one true hope, the New York office is fucked.

At this point I would just call up some random dude like Keith Lee and strap him to a rocket all the way to the main event so he could be a top heel. I really don't see any way Raw is going to be an engaging product if they insist on featuring Lashley, Corbin and Drew that much.

Brock is fucking hilarious. His amazing promo against Eddie where he had a sombrero and danced to the ring was proof that he wasn't afraid of being a goofy motherfucker. Who's gonna call him a loser, anyway?

R-Truth is out there interacting with fans on Twitter and putting a seatbelt on his title, guys. The title is some good relief and can be a good counterweight to Corbin/Drew/Lashley snoozefests. I'm positive most of you hated the Usos/Revival skits with the shaving and all that (even though it did get over), but Wrestling *needs* silly shit. Some ideas work and some don't, but having a product be serious all the time is not a good thing.

Nah, the concept is cool. The belt is ugly as shit, but WWE is more often than not funny (intentionally) when doing over the top backstage segments. Braun got over by doing Looney Toons shit, after all.

It was me, folks. I shooed people away with my political discourse. But in all honesty, it feels like wrestling in general has been through a slump. We discussed WWE at length, and NJPW does have some fair share of big criticisms, and at the moment it is too early to know what AEW is going to be. It's a curious point were business-wise, wrestling is dope. Lots of good opportunities and big money to be made outside of the mainstream company, but it feels more and more as a niche product, and it already was for the longest time.
