  1. I always appreciate a sense of danger in matches, and Hokuto always brought that in spades. I disagree with the idea that she peaked aroung 93/94, she'd been an amazing wrestler since the late 80s, and she has a decent catalogue from around that time to show it. And her peak work (the Kandori match, tag with her against Kong & Nakano, the Nakano singles, etc.) is just all time great stuff. Definitely a top 100 for me, no question.
  2. Taue is my second favourite of the pillars. His brawls with Kawada are my favourite inter-pillar matchup and he was producing great matches on a somewhat consistent basis up until his retirement. Just a wrestler with personality brimming from their in ring style, had great range, and a large resume of stellar matches to back all of that up.
  3. I do think that the Ziggler double turn match is probably a top 20 WWE match ever, but I never really found any other matches of his to be particularly compelling. The same goes for his face run, while the Big Show LMS match was done well, it fell flat from there on out. His heel work was always solid but, outside of the aforementioned Ziggler match, he never quite reached that top level for me, even when I was watching as a child.
  4. I would call this by far the best 4-way match WWE has ever done, no competition whatsoever, and despite the fact that these four set the standard for this kind of match, not just quality wise but also in terms of structure and atmosphere, it still hasn't been topped nearly 25 years later. This match is a messy and chaotic brawl, which isn't surprising given the guys involved, and how this match is hyped up on commentary, I've seen people complain about this aspect of the match, and that there aren't enough high spots or whatever, but that's exactly why the match is good, it doesn't feel choreographed or planned, it feels like 4 guys having a war to become champion. Of course the stuff between Bret and Austin was amazing, and set the stage perfectly for their ensuing WrestleMania match, Vader was insanely good too, his crimson mask forming over his actual mask was a great visual, by far his best performance during his time in the company. I don't think Undertaker stood out particularly but the other three more than made up for that.
  5. Kane Kane may not be a wrestler with a huge amount of great matches to his name, at least not singles matches, but in terms of being able to run with a gimmick and create some of the most memorable segments of all time, I would argue that Kane is the best guy ever in that regard. Arguably his most impressive feat is being one half of the best comedy stuff WWE has ever done, in the form of Team Hell No in the early 2010s, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that it took place in the PG era, where their comedy misses far more often than it hits. Along with this, Kane has some of the best "moments" in wrestling history, mainly his debut at the climax of the Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels cell match. I wouldn't say Kane is truly up there with my all time favourites, but he's definitely in the conversation. Recommended matches: vs. The Undertaker (WWF 1998/3/29) vs. Chris Benoit (WWE 2004/6/13) w/ Daniel Bryan & Ryback vs. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins (WWE 2012/12/16) As I said, these matches may not be of the highest quality, but it's the segments and character work that are the true appeal of Kane's body of work.
