  1. While this type of promotion is something I have never been able to get into, kudos to you for sticking it out and continuing on the path.
  2. Anytime someone beats Bob Holly, that is a bonus on any card! Bossman with the nightstick for the win is my bet when him and Nailz go at it. Poor Brian Christopher. Isn't the same as wrestling in Memphis. Oh well, he is still learning the ropes. Only a matter of time that things change for him.
  3. Voiceover: You are watching Bluegrass Championship Wrestling on WPSD-TV, Channel 6. Wrestling action to snappy music plays interspersed with images of Kentucky to kick off the program. Bluegrass Championship Wrestling February 16th, 1990 TV Taping - WPSD-TV, Channel 6 Studios Paducah, Kentucky Announcers: Bert Prentice & Ronnie Gossett Referee: Bruno Laurer & Tom Renesto Jr. Host Bert welcomes everyone to Bluegrass Championship Wrestling's Power Half Hour and introduces his co-host. An exciting half hour of action today and Bert gets right to it. He talks about last night’s Kentucky Cup, set in a Gauntlet style one night tournament to crown BCW’s top tag team. We get a “hrumph” from Ronnie Gossett as Bert looks over at his co-host and asks if he has something to add? Something to add? He sure does! He calls the USWA a bunch of cheapskates and by association, Bluegrass Championship Wrestling as well! Bert wants to know how how he came to that conclusion? It’s pretty simple … rather than have a one night tournament for tag team title belts here in Kentucky, they throw in a trophy … a single trophy! Bert pays him no mind and says that speaking of the USWA, they have just announced an upcoming tag team tournament. Should be a good one as tag teams from all across the USWA are invited. We’ll have more info on that in the coming weeks but right now, let’s get the winners of the Kentucky Cup in here … Todd and Shane Morton … The Mortons make their way out carrying the Kentucky Cup. An impressed Bert congratulates them on their win before explaining what it was they actually did, winning a gauntlet style tournament AND were one of the first two teams, running the field to win the Cup. An impressive achievement that Ronnie Gossett thinks is kind of ho-hum as he yawns several times. The Mortons are of course excited and are now setting their sights on something a little higher … THE USWA TAG BELTS! They are ready to throw their hat into the ring and face the very best the USWA has to offer … The biggest member of Tony Falk’s Rookies make his way out. The large face painted man rants and raves about the Mortons cheating and continuously double teaming in their match and the referee favoring them … HE’S READY TO PROVE IT RIGHT NOW AND CHALLENGES THE MORTONS TO A MATCH! Here comes Tony Falk and Frank M. Tony apologizes profusely, telling Big Dave this isn’t the way to do business while little Frank does his best to try to push Big Dave back. Todd Morton says he and Shane didn’t break any rules, they didn’t bend any rules and always do it the way you are supposed to but if Big Dave isn’t happy about the match and he understands that, so if Shane is up to it, he has no problem giving them a rematch today. Shane’s “Hell yeah” made it official! Bert throws it to a commercial break. ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- A camera sweep through the audience finds this pretty fan cheering before we return to Bert and Ronnie who talk about the segment before the break. Ronnie sides with Big Dave who he believes has a legitimate beef with the Mortons. Bert says that is nonsense and the Mortons did not shy away from a rematch here today. Bobby Starr joins our hosts. He says for the last several weeks the creepy Lock has been saying that Starr was the first target on her list and he’s been waiting now patiently to get his hands on whoever she brings in to wrestle, ever since they did what they did to Gary Royal. Bert explains what happened for those not here or can’t remember … as her Tazmaniacs injured Gary Royal before they were banned from Bluegrass Wrestling. Gossett says if it was up to him, he’d toss the whole kit-n-kaboodle because no one but him knows what they will have to deal with in the very near future. Starr says he’s going to do his part to run them out of the territory! HERE SHE COMES! Lock and Oliver Humperdink make their way out. She says Starr won’t have to wait long now as today is his judgment day! Bert wants to know just who is wrestling for her? Her answer is to turn towards Humperdink whose eyes go wide when he realizes it is HIM! Bobby Starr versus Oliver Humperdink w/Lock. Referee Tim Renesto Jr.. Starr is ready to go as soon as he hits the ring while Humperdink is reluctant to even get in the ring but does so at the prodding of Lock. The fans are already cheering on Starr before we get the bell which sounds as soon as Humperdink enters the ring. With the bell, Hump tries to get out of there but Starr yanks him right back in and gets to work. Humperdink is repeatedly floored by running shoulders from Starr. Big dropkick has Humperdink looking for the exit as he slips out of the ring for the safety of the outside. Gossett is loving this, calling it karma for taking the box of chocolates for Tasha Simone. Bert tells him to knock that off. Humperdink can’t escape as Starr with a double sledge to the back as he comes flying off the turnbuckle and the fans are eating it up. Lock tries to intercede but gets pushed out of the way by a man on a mission. Bobby Starr will not be denied his revenge. He hammers away on Humperdink before bouncing his head off the ring apron. Hump gets rolled back inside the ring and Starr makes the cover … 1! 2! NO! BOBBY STARR PULLS HUMPERDINK UP BY HIS HAIR! Humperdink begs and pleads for his life and Starr answers with a knuckle sandwich right between the eyes. Irish whip and Humperdink is caught around the waist on the return. Spinning his body, Bobby Starr plants Hump in the mat and makes the cover … Oliver Humperdink is NOT kicking out of this! Bobby Starr leaves the ring to celebrate with the fans as Lock enters the ring to berate her man for doing absolutely nothing. Starr with a salute, says that one’s for GARY US ROYAL! The fans chant U.S.A. over and over as we need to take a station break! ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- Local ad with Tony Falk ... Tony Falk: Do you want to become a wrestler, a manager or a valet? Call the number below and we can get you on the path to stardom! Call today! Back to Bert and Ronnie with Bert celebrating the huge win by Bobby Starr. Gossett wishes Starr had done that to Lock instead … he says kill the head, the rest of it dies! Bert says he is sure this isn’t the last we’ll hear of this and that Lock is probably already planning her next move. Ronnie says Bert doesn’t understand, she’s already three steps ahead! Bert turns his attention our next match, going over how this all came about. The Mortons already hold a win over Falk’s Rookies two weeks ago here on TV as well as a win over them last night in the tournament. They certainly appear to have the Rookies’ number at this point. Ronnie tells Bert to not be so sure because Big Dave certainly looks to have that fire in his belly to beat the Mortons. Bert tells him that is why we have the matches! LET’S GO TO THE RING! Big Dave & Frank M w/Tony Falk versus The Mortons. Referee Bruno Laurer The fans let everyone know who they are cheering on as soon as the Mortons make their way out. Loudest pop of the night for the Kentucky Cup winners who are set to take on their first challengers less than 24 hours after winning! Big Dave runs out from the back and attacks both Mortons before they hit the ring! He hammers away at both before shoving away the referee to continue the beatdown. Tony Falk and Frank rush out to pull Big Dave away. The Mortons gets a break to try to shake off the cobwebs but has the damage already been done? Bruno in the corner issuing warnings before the match has even started, telling Dave he WILL DQ him if he does not heed the referee’s commands! Tony does his best to calm his wrestler and tells Frank to start things off while he talks to Big Dave. Frank and Shane get to it with some chain wrestling with both men taking control. The fans appreciate it the wrestling and let them both know as they share a handshake before getting back to it. Fast tag to Todd Morton and he takes over, taking Frank to the mat and even rolling him to his back for a 1 count. Todd whips Frank across the ring, fast tag and Shane comes flying over the ropes into the ring and flattens Frank with a slingshot clothesline. 1! 2! NO! BIG DAVE BREAKS IT UP! Todd follows with an elbow drop and gets a 1! on the cover. He works a side headlock and moves Frank to his corner where Shane awaits a tag. They switch and Frank is still in a headlock and unable to escape. HERE COMES BIG DAVE! Charging the ring, Dave comes flying in with a big spear! Shane dodges and Dave hits his own partner, flattening Frank and sending him through the ropes to the outside. Dave is looking for blood and turns to Shane Morton … drop toe hold and down goes Big Dave! Slingshot leg drop from Todd Morton before the Mortons both grab one of Dave’s leg and sit back into a double crab hold. The big muscular man powers through and uses the ropes to pull himself forward to gain a break of the hold. Angry Big Dave is grabbed by Tony Falk and admonished by the trainer. Double drop kick sends Dave forward into Falk, knocking him to the floor and landing on him when he goes over the ropes to the outside. Across the ring, a groggy Frank, the legal man in, is brought back into the hard way with a double hip toss. Todd drops Frank across his knee before Shane comes flying off the top rope and lands a leg drop and makes the cover while Todd Morton stands near by ready to thwart any attempt to break it up. We get the 1! 2! 3! The Mortons have beaten Falk’s Rookies once again! That's all the time today as Bert Prentice signs off but reminds everyone to come back next week for more Bluegrass Championship Wrestling!
  4. Big show with lots going on, setting up the future. I feel for Lawler as he is a marked man and now being hunted at every turn. Isn't like the old days with someone coming in to face him, then dispatched until the next challenger is brought in. Now, you have Savage with a contract, you have Dick Slater looking to collect a bounty on Jerry's head and you always have the First Family lingering and waiting for their turn to strike. Lawler needs some friends. USWA with tag titles coming up soon will get some notice in Kentucky with a few teams looking to put themselves on the map. The Mortons and Pretty in Pink are two that wouldn't mind a crack at those belts.
  5. TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! From the Mayfield High School * Mayfield, Kentucky Home of the Cardinals 2.14.1990 1. The Mortons over Tony Falk’s Rookies. 2. The Mortons defeated Wild Dog & Tony Williams. 3. The Mortons got the nod over The Hillbillies. 4. Gypsy Joe and The Cuban Assassin battled to a Double DQ. ** 5. The Mortons won over Pretty in Pink. 1990 Kentucky Cup * Saturday night in Mayfield, Kentucky before a packed house ready for an evening of rasslin’ action! One night tournament for the 1990 Kentucky Cup, a tag team tournament gauntlet match, involving 5 teams. ** Brutal and bloody match with both men “no selling” the other’s moves, beating each other senseless. The referee finally disqualified both when they refused to listen to his commands and get back in the ring.
  6. It's been too quiet in UWF-Land after the pretty decent start AND the creation of the USWA which you are a member of. That's really too bad if this territory was a one and done as there was a ton of potential with not only a decent set-up from the word go, a kick ass roster and as a member of the USWA.
  7. The evil has spread to Memphis! Certainly, yours is more physically imposing than mine but still scary in it's own right. Should go far. Really solid matches throughout the card with the Street Fight, Rhodes/Gilbert and the Southern Title match. Rounding it all out with the well built match between Lawler and Hennig with the wild ending (or non-ending) as The Macho Man gets tossed into the mix. Only complaint, if it is one, too many DQ/Countout/Time Limit Draw finishes for my liking.
  8. Voiceover: You are watching Bluegrass Championship Wrestling on WPSD-TV, Channel 6. Wrestling action to snappy music plays interspersed with images of Kentucky to kick off the program. Bluegrass Championship Wrestling February 9th, 1990 TV Taping - WPSD-TV, Channel 6 Studios Paducah, Kentucky Announcers: Bert Prentice & Ronnie Gossett Referee: Bruno Laurer & Tom Renesto Jr. Host Bert welcomes everyone to Bluegrass Championship Wrestling's Power Half Hour and introduces his co-host. An exciting half hour of action today … After the introduction, Bert takes a long hard stare at Ronnie Gossett sitting beside him, on the table roses and a big red heart. He asks what that’s for? None of his business and speaking of business, can we get Tony Falk out here to talk about his students? Bert lets everyone know that Tony Falk will be out later in the show as Frank M takes on Chris Michaels which seems to excite Gossett. We also have the Cuban Assassin in the house as he takes on Hillbilly Don E. Gossett doesn’t care about the matches, he wants to know is Tasha is here today. Bert doesn’t know and throws it to a commercial break. ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- We return to Bert and Ronnie who have been joined by Richard Lee with his client, the Zebra Kid. Lee wants to get right to it and demands Commissioner Hickerson to come out and give his answer. Bert with a reminder for the fans about ZK and his manager looking for the overturned match to be overturned once again and the victory given to the Zebra Kid. They don’t have to wait long as Hickerson makes his way out and is joined by USWA Official Nate Whitlock and wrestler Chris Michaels. Hickerson explains that he watched the tape over and over and came to the same conclusion, agreeing with the decision of referee Laurer. He then went to the USWA for a second opinion and USWA Rep Nate Whitlock agrees with the decision. The ruling stands, Chris Michaels is the winner of the match against the Zebra Kid seen here on television. Lee and ZK both blow a gasket as the fans cheer. Holding his hands up to get some quiet, Hickerson continues, saying he’s fair guy and is willing to give the Zebra Kid a chance to prove it was a fluke or if he truly is the better wrestler … on Friday, the 28th at the Armory, we will get a rematch … The Zebra Kid versus Chris Michaels. Michaels and the fans are okay with that as Lee and ZK storm off. Pointing a finger, Lee tells Hickerson he hasn’t heard the last of this! Chris Michaels versus Frank M. w/Tony Falk & Tasha Simone. Referee Bruno Laurer. Michaels follows up the decision handed down by the USWA with an overwhelming victory over Falk’s student. Falk and Tasha both cheer on Frank but to no avail as Michaels has an answer to whatever is thrown at him. Throughout, Ronnie Gossett talks about the lovely Tasha, not even commenting on the match at all. Superkick and the match is over as Chris Michaels picks up another win. Tony Falk, Tasha Simone and the losing Frank M join our hosts which makes Ronnie Gossett giddy. Bert tells Ronnie to calm down or he’ll have to go to the back. Ronnie shoots backs that Bert would like that and to no one’s surprise, Bert would indeed like that. Falk talks about his students coming along and they are learning as they go. You can show them everything in training but you really learn when you are in the ring and an opponent is across from you ready to take your head off. Falk is impressed with both of his boys as they come in every day, ready to get down to work. That first win will come, it is only a matter of time and as he always says, we’ll get them next time! Gossett turns his attention to Tasha and tells her with the upcoming Valentine’s Day, he is sure that she will be turning the boys away. He wanted to be the first as he hands her roses and a box of chocolates as a token of his … devotion. Bert crinkles his nose at that … really? Ronnie tells Bert to mind his own business. She tries to defuse the situation as she says she is sure the fans will love to see her get into the ring for her first match. Bert wishes them all the luck in the world as the trio get out of there after she puts the roses and the heart shaped box of chocolate back on the desk but right now, we need to take a station break! ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- Local ad with Tony Falk ... Tony Falk: Do you want to become a wrestler, a manager or a valet? Call the number below and we can get you on the path to stardom! Call today! Back to Bert and Ronnie with Bert asking Ronnie what is wrong with him? He is old enough to be her grandfather! Ronnie says he is merely a victim of Cupid’s arrow that has struck him deep … THE LIGHTS FLICKER! WE HAVEN’T SEEN THEM IN TWO WEEKS! THEY’RE BACK!!!!! Gossett gets into position, behind Bert as the Queen of Evil approaches followed by Humperdink. As Bert nears with a mic in hand, she hisses at him as Humperdink snatches it away and hands it to her. In a raspy voice she turns towards the camera and hisses out that she has been to the mountain and after a long and arduous journey, she sat with the Abudadein, he told her that the instrument of destruction would not come from without BUT FROM WITHIN! It would be up to her to find and unlock the evil within one man’s soul … AND THAT WOULD BE THE UNDOING OF BOBBY STARR!!!!! They turn to walk away before Humperdink stops, turns back to our hosts and hisses at Ronnie Gossett to make him retreat further behind Bert Prentice. With the coast clear, Lock’s pawn snaps up the red heart shaped box of chocolate and walks off to join her. Ronnie wants to complain but Bert throws it to the ring for our next match! Hillbilly Don E w/Hillbilly Dennis versus The Cuban Assassin. Referee Tom Renesto Jr. Bert talks about the Assassin who has been locked in a wild and crazy feud with Gypsy Joe that has raged all over the state of Kentucky like two forces of nature that has cut a bloody swath through the territory. Ronnie complains about his box of chocolate for Tasha being taken by Humperdink but Bert tells him to go into the back and take it from him. Simple as that. Ronnie says they probably hightailed it out of there already! Likely excuse. Bert asks if Ronnie’s scared? Ronnie Gossett is scared of no man … or woman! Really? Then why does Ronnie hide behind Bert each time they come out? Inside the ring, The Cuban Assassin manhandles his opponent, smacking him around the ring rather than actual wrestling technique. The CA even is able to get to Don E’s brother has he slams their heads together when the brawling is brought outside the ring. Several possible pin attempts are thwarted as the Cuban Assassin pulls Don E up by his hair each time before the three count. Several warnings from the referee who stands his ground when CA threatens him. Cotton-Eyed Joe starts to play … IT'S GYPSY JOE!!!!! Joe, with a kendo stick over his shoulder, makes his way out and around the ring with his eyes squarely on the Cuban Assassin. Pointing the kendo stick at CA, it looks like we are gonna have a donnybrook right here on TV as the two have been largely kept off of television. The Cuban Assassin wants Gypsy Joe in the ring and Joe is willing to oblige with both men tossing referee Tom Renesto Jr. out of the way … AND HERE WE GO!!!!! Bert Prentice wisely signs off before the blood flows but reminds everyone to come back next week for more Bluegrass Championship Wrestling!
  9. From the McCracken County High School Paducah, Kentucky Home of the Mustangs Sunday, February 2nd, 1990 1. Wild Dog pinned Tony Williams. 2. Johnny Hotbody w/Precious beat Frank M w/Tony Falk. 3. Chris Michaels with the victory over Richie Myers. 4. Zebra Kid w/Richard Lee over All American Bobby Starr. * *Lock and Oliver Humperdink came out to watch the match. While Starr did well, it was the interference of Richard Lee that was the difference maker. After the match, the Zebra Kid with some pent up aggression continued to put the boots to Starr. Lee also, got in on the act with a stomping of his own. Chris Michaels and Wild Dog hit the ring to chase off ZK and his manager.
  10. 11. Lots of build towards The Clash as it should be. I am sure The Horsemen interview went with a red-faced Ric woooooing a lot as he talked about beating Luger and Sting which I can see happening. Leap frogging Sting to face Luger for the WCW title? I can see that happening as well. Walking away with the title ... priceless. Solid tag champions in The Roadies and the Rockers. Does a pair of wins point them towards a title unification? Maybe as they are solidly the two best teams here.
  12. Voiceover: You are watching Bluegrass Championship Wrestling on WPSD-TV, Channel 6. Wrestling action to snappy music plays interspersed with images of Kentucky to kick off the program. Bluegrass Championship Wrestling February 1st, 1990 TV Taping - WPSD-TV, Channel 6 Studios Paducah, Kentucky Announcers: Bert Prentice & Ronnie Gossett Referee: Bruno Laurer Host Bert welcomes everyone to Bluegrass Championship Wrestling's Power Half Hour and introduces his co-host. An exciting half hour of action today … First bit of news today, Commissioner Phil Hickerson has notified him that a new referee has been hired, a name Ronnie might be familiar with … Tom Renesto Jr. Of course, Gossett goes on a tirade about it not being fair with his younger brother wrestling in the territory, unless of course, Hickerson did the right thing and released Tim Renesto from wrestling here in Kentucky. How did Bert know that Ronnie Gossett would bring something like that up? Commissioner Hickerson already has the handled as Tom won’t be an official in any of his brother’s matches. Ronnie rolls his eyes but Bert ignores him. Fans cheer as a sweat suit wearing Tony Falk makes his way out. Gossett notices and sits up straight as he runs his thumb over his eye brows. Bert with the intro as Ronnie looks around as if someone is missing, asking about Tasha? Falk talks about his wrestlers and their first match last week and while it didn’t end with a win, they took away a learning lesson and worked on that in the gym all week which brings him to the reason he is out here today … he would like to ask for his students to get a match here today. If you fall off the horse, you have to get right back up in the saddle. Phil Hickerson makes his way out and shakes hands. He understands where Tony is coming from. Afterall, both of them were in the same shoes as Tony’s students once upon a time. Gossett throws in an “a very long time ago” and is told by Bert to knock that off. Ordinarily, he would put the students on a stand-by match, in case there was extra time in the program and another match was needed BUT he respects what Tony’s asking for and will put them in action on today’s program. If it wasn’t for Tony’s reputation e most likely wouldn’t be doing this, even this just once … The pair leave as Bert throws it to a commercial break. ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- We return to Bert and Ronnie who are discussing what went on before the break. Ronnie doesn’t like it one little bit on top of the fact that Falk didn’t bring that lovely Tasha out. What a shame. Bert just shakes his head before throwing it to the ring and our first match. Tim Renesto versus Richie Myers. Referee Bruno Laurer. The match is almost all Renesto minus several moments where Myers did his best to fight his way back into the match. Tim looks good finishing off Myers with a spinning neck breaker which makes the fans happy as they cheer Bruno slapping out the three count. Renesto joins our hosts following the match and has nothing but praise for his opponent. We all started somewhere and one day, with more experience under his belt, it might be Richie Myers with the win standing here. Bert adds in Renesto’s pedigree as a very big factor which most in the business will never have. Gossett with a snide comment about the Renesto boys but Bert tells him to knock that off. When asked what’s next, Renesto says he’s looking forward to the possibility of the USWA Champion coming through these parts to wrestle as well as any local titles that he’s sure we’ll be hearing about one of these days. After Renesto leaves, our hosts are joined by a man in a suit who hands both a business card. Bert reads it off and introduces Richard Lee, ESQUIRE. Lee says he’s a manager of champions and comes here today representing his newest client, The Zebra Kid. He is here in hopes of sitting down with whoever is in charge and discuss this reversal of result to his client’s match 2 weeks ago. This was done without due process and affects his client’s ability to support himself, having his pay reduced all thanks to someone sitting out in the audience who SAID THEY SAW SOMETHING? This brings out Commissioner Hickerson who says something about not having to come out here too often as it takes away from the wrestling the fans have come here to see and tuned in from home. Lee starts grilling Hickerson about his decision and whether or not we can actually trust this so-called “fan” and he uses the term loosely. How do we know this fan doesn’t have an axe to grind with his client or bet upon the outcome of the match and put his money on the wrong wrestler. Richard Lee KNOWS that Commissioner Hickerson will do the CORRECT thing and return the victory to The Zebra Kid … OR … it will force Lee’s hand! Richard Lee walks off to a smattering of boos. Right now, we need to take a station break! ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- Local ad with Tony Falk ... Tony Falk: Do you want to become a wrestler, a manager or a valet? Call the number below and we can get you on the path to stardom! Call today! Back to Bert and Ronnie with Bert repeating the phone number to call if anyone is looking for a career in the business. Ronnie keeps talking about Tasha Simone, wondering when she is going to wrestle but Bert says to knock that off and for him not to be a creep. Ronnie thinks Bert is just jealous. Frank M & Big Dave versus The Mortons. Referee Tom Renesto Jr. New referee in action here and The Mortons are on fire in the early going, dropkicking all over the ring. The Rookies leave the ring to regroup while the Mortons celebrate with the fans. Tony Falk rallies his troops and gets them back into the match where Frank M is isolated and takes a beating from the quick moving and fast tagging Mortons. They are a well oiled machine moving in and out of the tags, getting in a double teaming each time which Ronnie Gossett complains about, blaming the ineptitude of the referee. Big Dave is able to tag in and things change for the better as he grabs Shane Morton by the throat and lifts him in the air. He slams Morton down and covers. 1! 2! Todd Morton in and he breaks it up. Gossett complains first about a slow count by Renesto and then Morton’s interference. At 6’5”, 305 pounds, Dave is a monster of a man compared to his opponents but the Mortons have heart and will take on anyone. A couple of double dropkicks knocks Big Dave backwards but not down. A third sends him back into his corner where he makes contact with his partner Frank. Legal man in, Frank eats a drop kick from Shane who tags in Todd. Shane with the Irish whip sends Frank across the ring and on the return, Todd slingshots himself into the ring, wiping out Frank M with a clothesline. Todd with the cover and Shane runs interference as Big Dave hits the ring to break it up to no avail. The Mortons with the win celebrate the victory with the fans while Tony Falk consoles the Rookies by saying they’ll get them next time. That's all the time today as Bert Prentice signs off but reminds everyone to come back next week for more Bluegrass Championship Wrestling!
  13. Heenan on commentary is fantastic. Heelish in a funny way to Gorilla's straight man. One of the best duos out there that fits the WWF so well. Billy Jack Haynes/ Rick Rude - I am putting my money of Rude.
  14. That should be Sam Cody
