  1. At least Doll didn't take a chair shot to the "Money Maker" (his face). I am sure that made a lot of people happy.
  2. Oh how far has Dirty Dutch fallen? The rough and tumble hairy guy is "afraid" of "America's Next Serial Killer" Shane Douglas? He needs Jeff Gaylord as his bodyguard? He might want to rethink this union because it didn't work out so well for him the first time around. Ron Wright needs a plate to pass around through the audience. Someone might take pity on him and drop a few bucks for new hips and knees. Then again, maybe not. Nice to see Rip Rogers is staying in the area for the people. They really need to see how the other half lives. He's doing the territory a service by being here for al the ugly people. Brad and Tim might need a little help now dealing with the Russians and Whatley. Three on two odds are not good not matter who is involved. Eventually it catches up to you.
  3. TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! International Pro Wrestling 3-18-1988 ASU Armory Jonesboro, Arkansas Saturday night packed house in Jonesboro! Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to the show before bringing out Mr. Rip Tyler. Looking more like a truck driver or someone out of the audience rather than the Commissioner, Tyler talks about a tournament to crown a champion on next week's television program with the finals slated for the following week, Friday March 31st right here in Jonesboro at the Armory. Tickets are on sale right now for the "Hottest Ticket" in all of professional wrestling! Match #1. Cody Michaels versus Brian Knighton. Another friendly match-up between the two that sees both take near pinfalls and clean throughout without any strikes. Cody ts the better of the youngster once again, this time with a backslide. After the match, a disappointed Knighton kicks at the ropes but shakes Michaels' hand when offered. Match #2. The Arkansas Terror #2 w/Dark Journey and Arkansas Terror #1 versus Jamie Dundee. Dundee with more to reckon with than just his masked opponent, is able to knock #1 from his perch on the ring apron and gets a helping hand from their manager when she hits #2 with her shoe by accident, leading to the easy pinfall. She reads both men the riot act as Dundee slips out to the floor when the going is good. Match #3. The Enforcer versus Tim Renesto. Masked man with the Pearl Harbor before the bell is able to use the early advantage and nearly end the match. Renesto fights his way back into the match. Flying cross body and Renesto gets the win. Intermission. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice are joined by a hot under the collar Bill Ash. He can't believe the indignity of having to go through a tournament when everyone knows "The Headliner" is going to win it all anyway. Why doesn't Tyler just come back out here and hand over the belt rather than waste everyone's time? Here comes Rip Tyler and he doesn't look all that happy. He wants Bill Ash to understand one thing about Rip Tyler. Rip Tyler is very easily annoyed and while he may be the Commissioner he would rather be a Hand's Off kind of guy and let the "Rasslers" settle it in the ring. So Tyler doesn't know how they do things in New York City but right here in Arkansas, you still have to earn it. Bill Ash wants that title belt all shiny and around his waist, then he's gonna have to earn it! Match #4. Bill Ash versus Mountain Lou. The big man, cheered on by the fans, beats Ash around the ring. Put on his back several times, Ash is able to escape at the last instant. Leaving the ring for a breather, he gets into it with ringside fans before Lou grabs him and slides him back into the ring. Several shoulders to the midseciton catches Lou getting back into the ring. Hooks him up for a suplex and after several tries is finally able to get the 300 pounder back in via suplex from the apron. Able to power out of it, Lou turns the tables with a Test of Strength which has Ash begging. "Sissy" chants for "Mr. MSG". Several times, Ash tries pulling something from his tights but is unable to thanks to a diligent referee. Unable to use it himself, he is able to hand it off to Mountain Lou before hitting the mat like he's been shot. Seeing Bill Ash flat on his back on the mat and Lou standing over him with a chain in his hand has no recourse but to call for the bell, disqualifying the big guy. Bill Ash is awarded the victory. Needless to say, the decision is not a popular one with the fans as Mountain Lou pleads his innocence but to no avail. Match #5. Reno Riggins & Dancing Wolf versus Tojo Yamamoto & the New Guniea Headhunter. Meeting once again turns out to a real barnburner as both teams brawl in and out of the ring. Several times things get out of hand with a chair brought into the match and a waffled Reno Riggins. Dancing Wolf with the flying tomahawk chop takes out the Headhunter with Riggins cutting off Tojo from breaking up the pinfall. Clean win by Riggins and Wolf but it is Tojo standing tall at the end as he takes out both opponents with his Singapore cane. The unhappy fans pummel Tojo and the Headhunter with cups and wadded programs as they make a run for it. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with the promise that IPW will return to Jonesboro!
  4. Thanks for the kind words. I do appreciate it. Lots more to come out of Arkansas!
  5. Pro Wrestling Illustrated's ratings ...
  6. Champagne Slam looks big. Lots of good match ups. Looking forward to it. Here's hoping Larry Z takes Austin Idol's stupid looking hat, twists it up and puts it where the sun don't shine. To make it just a little bit better, he walks out as a double champion. Peterson and Kelly are on the same page for now but how long will that last before their past rears it's ugly head again and they are at each other's throats. Is Vinny Valentino strong enough to keep it all together. Question? Does Valentino manage barefoot just like he wrestled? The real Crippler is back in town which does not bode well for Stevens. I can see Oliver sending Ray Stevens off into retirement.
  7. Pre-taping Match Tim Renesto outwrestles Brian Knighton. International Pro Wrestling Excited Voiceover: You are watching International Pro Wrestling from the KAIT Channel 8 television studios! Wrestling action whizzes by quickly over music, showing the stars of International Pro Wresting. Drop kick here, monkey flip there, big swinging neck breaker there. When the music comes to a stop, the camera pans the studio and the loud studio audience ready for some wrestling action! Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to International Pro Wrestling's exciting "Power Half Hour"! If the match the studio audience saw before the broadcast began is any indication of what we are in store for ... IT WILL BE A DOOZY! Buddy Lee agrees with Bert on that. We've got "Memphis Royalty" in the house with Jamie Dundee taking on the mysterious Man from the Orient ... The Ninja and in our Main Event, Reno Riggins faces the dastardly Tojo Yamamoto! Buddy Lee says we will also be talking to Bill Ash later in the program before he throws it to a commercial! x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x We go to the ring for our first match of the evening ... Match #1: The Ninja versus Jamie Dundee. Lots of "show" from the Ninja but not much substance as Jamie keeps on him and his arm. Arm drags keep him offbalance and drop kicks. Lots of talk of the Family Pedigree before Dundee wins the match with a Fist Drop from the middle rope. After the match, Dundee joins our hosts. Buddy Lee asks about the "Elephant in the Room", why on Earth would Jamie Dundee come to Arkansas to wrestle? Simple answer, if he wrestles in Memphis, the talk is of him being protected by his father, Bill Dundee, Jerry Lawler and Jackie Fargo but here in Arkansas, win or lose, it's all on him and he hopes that he can give these great fans what they would expect from the Dundee name! x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x We return to the program with Dark Journey and her Arkansas Terrors having joined our hosts. She wants to address the "Elephant in the Room" and why would anyone waste precious TV time on a no name like Jamie Dundee when they left Dark Journey and the best tag team west of the Mississippi off? Things get a little testy between DJ and Bert with Buddy playing peacemaker. She puts out the challenge to Jamie Dundee, if he's up to it, to face one of her Terrors right here next week! Bert likes it! The fans like it! Buddy Lee says it is all on Jamie Dundee to accept it as DJ and the masked men walk off. Buddy Lee and Bert are joined by "Wild" Bill Ash. Talk goes on about Ash's rant about the fans in Conway. The smirking Ash says that applies to the fans in Little Rock, Paragould and even right here in this television studio! That sets Bert and the fans off with Buddy Lee playing the cooler head. Ash talks about being a main eventer everywhere he's gone and very soon, he's going to be the champion of IPW ... AND THERE'S NOT A THING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT! After Ash saunters off, Bert Prentice reminds everyone ... TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! We have wrestling in Jonesboro at the ASU Armory. Doors open at 6 and bell time is 7 sharp! The Arkansas Terrors, Bill Ash, Reno Riggins and Dancing Wolf will all be in action! Match #2: Tojo Yamamoto versus Reno Riggins Just a week in and tv pops up with perhaps the top feud in Arkansas with these two. The aging Tojo gets the jump before the bell and is all over Riggins. The two battle in and around the ring that sees it escalate with each passing second. The New Guinea Headhunter runs out and we have two-on-one followed very shortly by Dancing Wolf. It is a Pier Six brawl outside the ring and the referee calls for the bell. The two teams continue to fight before the locker room empties and security comes out to break them up. That goes on in the background as the camera returns to Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice. A big thank you and a reminder to join us next week for more International Pro Wrestling action!
  8. International Pro Wrestling 3-16-1988 Greene County Fair Grounds Paragould, Arkansas A Thursday night of wrestling at the Greene County Fair Grounds Pavillion, bringing the best in wrestling action! Hosts Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to the show, promising exciting wrestling action! They are joined by Pat Rose who is happy to be here in Paragould, Arkansas ... It is Dark Journey leading her Arkansas Terrors out. She welcomes Pat Rose to the territory and says that her Terrors are the "Test" and if he's up for the challenge to scoot on into the back and find anyone willing to take them on. She wishes him luck because he's going to need it finding someone in the back brave ... or stupid enough to take him up on it. The trio leaves to a chorus to boos. Pat Rose is up for it. That's exactly why he's here! The challenge has been thrown out there ... consider it accepted! Match #1 Brian Knighton versus Cody Michaels. Another friendly match-up between the two youngsters that starts with a handshake. Energetic competition throughout that sees Cody Michaels win the match with a bulldog. They end things with a handshake. Michaels holds Knighton's hand in the air. Match #2 Ken Jugan versus Tim Renesto. The speedy Renesto turns it up a notch from the previous match and has Jugan, leaving the ring, calling for a time out and doing everything he can to slow the pace. Renesto isn't having it and puts Jugan down with a dropkick following a Monkey Flip. Match # 3 New Guinea Headhunter w/Tojo Yamamoto versus Dancing Wolf These two go at it again with Tojo sticking his nose into things as often as possible without getting Disqualified. The two go back and forth with Dancing Wolf breaking out the war dance which gets everyone going but before he can go to the flying tomahawk chop, Tojo with the kendo stick jabbed into Dancing Wolf's kidneys right in front of the referee gets the bell and the disqualification. Dancing Wolf takes a boot stomping before the face locker room clears out the ring and attends to Dancing Wolf. Intermission. Match #4 The Arkansas Terrors w/Dark Journey versus Pat Rose and ????? No clue who the grinning Rose's partner is until he motions to the back for him to come out. OH YEAH! IT'S THE BIG GUY HIMSELF! PLOWBOY FRAZIER! The four men brawl all over the ring before the ref regains control. No one wants to face Frazier but it is not like he is really needed all that much because Pat Rose is just that good. Rose and Frazier knock their opponents for a loop before whipping them both hard into the same corner. Frazier splashes both men in the corner and they each hook a leg for a double pinfall and a win that leaves no doubt in anyone's mind. Dark Journey berates her troops while the victorious celebrate with the fans. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice wish everyone a safe trip home after promising that IPW will return to Paragould!
  9. March's Issue of The Wrestler.
  10. I have to say, running Memphis and Mid-South as two separate entities is kind of a major undertaking but reading offerings from both places, you pull it off well, capturing the essence of both territories. Kudos to you for that. I did enjoy this. A spitting sputtering Dick Murdoch made me laugh as I could picture that in my head. The April 1st show is a must see with some very good match-ups already. Looking forward to it.
  11. IPW would like to add Rip Tyler as our Commissioner.
  12. I think it is funny that Jimmy Golden is okay with taking a back seat to Robert Fuller and act as his "Gatekeeper". How long will that last before Fuller takes advantage of that? The way that Fuller took care of Kazmeier, Golden might not have to do too much.
  13. While we are at it, we also release Bota the Witchdoctor.
  14. IPW releases Jimmie Lee and signs Pat Rose.
  15. Listing from the Jonesboro, Arkansas TV Guide for Saturday at 11 am.
  16. Work - Kids - Family. Funny how those things get in the way of our hobbies. Freebirds, Buddy Roberts or no Buddy Roberts, will have their arms raised at Triumph. Gordy is on a roll and that spells nothing but success for the Birds from Bad Street.
  17. International Pro Wrestling 3-12-1988 Conway High School Conway, Arkansas Home of the Wampus Cats A Sunday afternoon matinee as IPW comes to a town near you, bringing the best in wrestling action! Hosts Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to the show, promising exciting wrestling action! Match #1 Brian Knighton versus Cody Michaels. Friendly match-up between two youngsters that starts with a handshake. Energetic competition throughout that sees Cody Michaels roll up his opponent for the pinfall in a match that ends with a handshake. Match #2 Ken Jugan versus the Arkansas Terror #1 w/Dark Journey & Arkansas Terror #2. Repeated interference and cheating by Dark Journey and her second charge has the referee award the match to Jugan by DQ. With the match over, the two masked men attack Jugan, egged on by Dark Journey and booed by the fans. The boos quickly become cheers when out from the back comes ... https://i.postimg.cc/4xbxL3Ps/Elmer-SMALL.jpg PLOWBOY FRAZIER! Frazier runs them off, well, waddles them off is more like it before helping Jugan to the back. Match # 3 The New Guinea Headhunter w/Tojo Yamamoto versus Dancing Wolf. Continuation of the feud between the two teams that sees both men go back and forth with near pinfalls. Tojo with a kendo stick shot that misses Dancing Wolf catches the Headhunter allowing Wolf with a Flying Tomahawk Chop get the win. Intermission. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice talk to Arkansas native Bill Ash who goes on a rant about having to wrestle in little podunks towns like Conway when he is an MSG Headliner. Places like this embarass him to admit to being from Arkansas. He picks on a family on the front row equating IQ to the number of teeth they have left which has the fans up in arms! Match #4 Bill Ash versus Mountain Lou. 296 pounds of Mountain Lou frustrates Ash in the early going and the fans eat it up. Following a scoop slam that leads to a two count, Ash pops back to his feet complaining about his hair being pulled which draws the ire of the crowd. After begging off, chants of "He's a sissy" ring out that has Ash arguing with the front row and covering his ears. The big guy with the continued beat down until Ash with a thumb to the eye turns the tide. Running Mountain Lou's eyes across the ropes only gets the fans hooting and hollering more but the damage has been done in turning the tide. Bill Ash with the Arkansas Whiplash for the win. Ash has to make a run for it with a barrage of cups and wadded up programs thrown his way. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice thank everyone for sharing their Sunday afternoon with them and that IPW will return to Conway!
  18. Not sure if this is still a thing as the last post is from January, but let me say, I thoroughly enjoyed this show. Having Kevin Sullivan and his army gives Florida the familiarity right off the bat and having him and his followers doing crazy unexpected things will set the territory apart from anywhere else. Honestly, who expects an announcer to be attacked at the beginning of the broadcast? Humperdink turning in Sullivan and leaving the Family was a surprise which I might have to go back and see how that all unfolded. Does have me wondering if it is the genius of Sullivan "keeping friends close, but his enemies closer". Having someone keeping an eye on Mike Graham would certainly give him a "one-up" on Graham. Okay, not a complete show. Might be a missed opportunity to sell your house shows if this was on your regular television. People would be tuning and glued to their sets wondering who Sullivan would attack next and how is Graham going to stop him?
  19. Memphis without Jerry Lawler is a tough sell, making it worse in my opinion, no Bill Dundee. I think Dirty Dutch and Rip Rogers with ties to Memphis are good heels without a solid counterpart. I'm thinking the Armstrongs with Brad leading the charge might be the way to go? He has the look, the girls like him and best of all, he's from the South, so he and his family "get it". The rest of the Armstrong family to work tags and singles. Maybe an endorsement from a Jackie Fargo would really get them over with the fans? Enter Buddy Landel. Man, did he burn some bridges - he better hope this Memphis gig works out well for him because no one else is going to want to give him a job if it doesn't!
  20. TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! International Pro Wrestling 3-11-1988 Pine Bluff Convention Center Pine Bluff, Arkansas Match #1 Cody Michaels versus The Enforcer. A rehash of their two previous matches with the babyface Michaels getting the nod once again over the masked man. Match #2 The Arkansas Terrors w/ Dark Journey versus Mountain Lou and Ken Jugan. The much smaller masked men with a low blow by DJ are able to pin Lou. Match #3 Dancing Wolf versus the New Guinea Headhunter. In singles action, Dancing Wolf wins a hard hitting match with a flying tomahawk chop. Intermission. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice talk to Arkansas native Bill Ash who promises to become the IPW champion! Match #4 Brian Knighton versus Bill Ash. The rookie delivers early on before the veteran Ash digs deep into his bag of tricks to pull off the victory with the Arkansas Whiplash. Match #5 Tojo Yamamoto versus Reno Riggins. A bloody affair that ends in a Double Disqualification when the two battle outside the ring using whatever is not nailed down as a weapon. Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with the promise that IPW will return to Pine Bluff!
  21. In Puerto Rico and Colon isn't a bloody mess? I am sure Chicky is screaming foul that he wasn't involved in one of the title matches in front of HIS people. Oh the indignity!
  22. You have a solid base to work things around. Having a young Scotty the Body should be a lot of fun to write and fin for us to watch him grow and evolve. Being in a stable with Buddy Rose can only be a positive. Fan of the Cheetah Kid, so nice to him him being smack dab in the middle if the action.
  23. That's a lot of action for TV ie. free. NWA fans must love you.
  24. Happy belated birthday to your son. Don't sweat it, good things come in small packages and you have a lot of action tightly packed in there. Freebirds all the way!
